A nice quirky boutique hotel only minutes from the central train station. Chilled relaxed atmosphere, not pretentious. Clean and with a comfortable bed and good water pressure. The theme is ethnic and everything is organic. Lovely courtyard where you can sit and relax on a hot summers day. Nice breakfast, all organic ingredients and home baked bread and cakes. I will definitely keep this hotel in mind for another time.

The location is convenient to the train station, but not much else… a good 20-30 minute walk to the center of town. The hotel property was nice, and the room was small, but fine. The breakfast was good, but expensive. There is no air conditioning, and we needed to leave the windows open at night so that the room was cool enough to sleep, but it was super loud outside with people talking/screaming all night long. The hot water in the shower was erratic — cold one second and very hot another. Not great overall. In hindsight I wish we’d chosen a place closer to the center of town.

Fantastic hotel. Daughter took me there for a surprise birthday weekend. The staff were great and the hotel was really funky and well equipped. Was very central too the train station in Copenhagen. Can't wait too go back again.

The Hotel is on the top three. Yes, ecological, the rooms are original. But. No Air conditioning. At + 27 In the shadows it is essential. My room is under the roof, in the evening mozhnl to soar. The Breakfast was very good. Availability. Metro is far away. The Station is close, meters 200. To get somewhere, you have to pass a couple of stops on the train and take the subway.

This is a gem of a hotel! A short walking distance from the station and Tivoli gardens. The whole hotel adopts a consistent environmental theme, down to the bamboo toothbrushes (seriously! ) Very comfy bed. Quiet rooms, nice-sized bathrooms.

It seems not all rooms are created equal at Axel Guldsmeden. So, for reference, ours was room # 1302. Negatives 1. No mini fridge 2. No shower (bath only) 3. No suitcase luggage rack 4. No seating besides one hard desk chair 5. Bathroom ladder shelf not secured (it fell towards me and the maids propped it up with toilet paper! ) Positives 1. Nice staff 2. Updated attractive rooms 3. Outdoor balcony 4. Good Breakfast (according to my husband) Neutrals 1. Memory foam mattress (some appreciate this type of mattress but for me, it's not breathable material and you sink in too far, especially when the mattress is overused) 2. Feather beds (very cozy but can run hot with no other bedding and tends to be highly allergenic) 3. Location (Vesterbro district is within walking distance to downtown which is nice but what is not so nice is it a bit of a sketchy area where you'll see drug dealers, prostitutes, and sex shops around the corner that have porn displayed in their windows) I should clarify that the room was advertised as having a shower and photos of the room showed a shower in the bathroom. We would not have booked this room if we knew it didn't have one. The room we actually got had a bathtub with a shower attachment but had no where to hang the attachment on the wall. The shower attachment was also too short to hold while standing up in the tub.

Very nice hotel, very cosy. Nice, good insulation. Good location to advise.

Simply the best hotel out ot 5 hotels I tried in Copenhagen. Very cute and clean and comfortable. One suggestion would be better curtains that could block all the light for complete darkness for sleeping.

Very nice eco friendly hotel. Beautiful vintage decoration. The breakfast is simply succulent with fresh and organic products. Junk food enthusiasts go your way.

Beautiful eco hotel in a really good location! Rooms are not too big but nice, comfortable and clean. We walked everywhere form there and it has really good restaurants and cafes nearby. I really recommend it.

A very cozy hotel with a great location just beside the central station. Great room with a nice balcony and bed as well as a bathtub. The breakfast was however way too expensive for what was offered.

Convenient location – most places of worship can be reached on foot. Nice interior (except the elevator, glued fur skins).
Of the minuses-the size, small even for Europe. Classic Room-3 by 3 meters. It's a bed and a passageway around. The bathroom is so cramped that a full person taking a shower will not be able to lift hands freely. To simply wash hands it is necessary to close a door, tc behind it hang towels and to reach them with an open door it is impossible. To close a door it is necessary to pass slightly behind a toilet. The restaurant downstairs is cramped. It is impossible to descend on the stairs, as the width of the stage is less than 37 feet size, besides it is very steep.
There is no mini fridge in the room. This means that you always have warm water that you can not buy a baby yogurt for the morning or some cheese as a gift home.
There is no kettle in the room. It means, that it is impossible to fill with boiled water some teraflu, it is impossible to boil a child quickly-porridge for lack in district usual.
This place is absolutely not suitable for a holiday with children, but for a trip for two adults-quite.

The staff is very friendly, the hotel is comfortable but the rooms seemed small to me for the price.
The restaurant is good, simple menu, use organic products.

Great stay at a great price here. Stayed Monday to Thursday night. Only let down was the lift was out of service 2 days and I was on the 4th floor, but good exercise. A small part of the floor also squeaked but this is to be expected sometimes in classical older hotels. The bathroom was amazing and it really lives to its eco credentials. Staff always helpful and polite. Did not do the breakfast as was quite expensive to add in, but it smelled nice walking through.

Rooms welcoming, clean and comfortable with organic products and toiletries. Loved the bathroom with underfloor heating. Hotel in excellent location near city center and central railway Station. Amazing staff — enjoyed my stay here, highly recommended. Small suggestion: please have a mini fridge within the room, might help some guests.

Really great experience. Spa was small but very well managed and featured. Adjacent bar had nice food and delicious cocktails. Location isn't central, but Tivoli is just around the corner. Recommended.

Nice hotel, the room is very good. Access to the spa with extra charge. Sauna Hammam, spa, cold bath, possibility in self-service to make clay mask, scrub… Very good location close to the city centre and next to the train station.

Excellent Hotel super friend of the environment.

I have to say that the hotel itself and the roll it has (eco-friendly, sustainable etc) caused me very good impression, (we talk about 170 euros a night), free apples to take away, bottles to fill with water from the city, green towels, toothbrushes made of bamboo And many more things.
But as you enter you feel overwhelmed, lots of sofas together, very narrow hallways and rooms full of furniture, even a couch bigger than the bed (is a saying) The bathroom was tiny, complicated to sit and pee without colliding with the furniture of the towels.
I admit that the location is great and the hotel also but I don't know if I would repeat it.

Cute hotel with wood and bamboo finishes. Really nice sauna and spa area with fresh mud masks for your face. We didn't eat the breakfast, but it looked lovely and vegan-friendly. My only concern: the bed was way too soft. Thanks for a nice stay.

Great hotel, Central and good service.

Such a lovely hotel, loved absolutely everything about it! The rooms were small but cozy and beautifully designed with great thoughtfulness. I was pleasantly surprised to find a bamboo toothbrush and toothpaste tablets in the bathroom. The interior has a relaxing Indonesian feel, which is especially lovely on those cold rainy days in Denmark. The staff was really friendly and positive. Great location too. An amazing eco-friendly hotel in the heart of Copenhagen.

Very elegant hotel, well located. Friendly staff, clean and spacious room. Loved the outdoor space. I will certainly stay here again and even consider this brand in other cities when available.

No tea or coffee making facilities in bedroom (don't know if this is normal in Denmark) and I don't particularly care for the typical Danish breakfast that seems to consist largely of cold meats. Room size ok but not over-generous. Helpful staff and good decor.

The rooms and bathroom were very clean which I really liked. They also had a very nice theme to them, as you can see in the photos they were very well decorated and included many amenities. The bathroom was also very nice and the shower had a variety of hair and body products which was very nice. The room was also very quiet despite being on the first floor, the windows had multiple panes which definitely helped. My room was in the older building if the hotel but if was very nice and did not feel old at all. I also appreciated the fact that they were so environmentally friendly. This was true of the towels and body products and in general everything they sold at the hotel from their food to their clothes. The breakfast was definitely above average and very good too. (Although it's not included with your room) My biggest complaint was the fact that they had two different check in desks and entrances. This made things very confusing, especially since you were allowed to enter from one of the doors and when entering from the other you we're greeted by the check in staff who told you to go all the way around to the other door and enter through there. This is despite having checked in already and the fact that that door was in the old building and as a result closer to my room. The staff were otherwise professional though and good at their job. Although the check in situation and the two door things was really bothersome and irritating.

Ambience looks like you're in Bali! All recycled, organic, taking care of every detail to the towels. Very good location I loved this hotel!

The Axel Guldsmeden hotel convinces with many details and subtleties. Many natural elements were used in the furnishing, so that you feel comfortable at all times. Be it in the room itself, at the bar or in the cozy backyard garden. All care products are sustainable and organic, many of them even vegan. The huge breakfast buffet includes delicious cuts over various cheeses and pastries, everything your heart desires. Also here you will find many vegan and vegetarian alternatives and great breakfast ideas to try out and enjoy. The only negative point I noticed is that the hotel rooms are noisy. However, other hotel chains also have this problem.

A lovely place to spend some time! The rooms a very cosy yet modern with everything you need. Staff are extremely helpful and made the stay very enjoyable!

Exceptional, this is the second time we have stayed. Perfect location, staff very friendly and attentive, perfect rooms take care of the detail and offer a fantastic breakfast.

Very pleasant hotel with a focus on sustainability that makes it feel much more special. The decor is wonderful and the location is very good, room was very pokey and small though which was a shame, and it's not terribly cheap.

I *love* this hotel. Everything about it is fantastic. An ethical organic ethos that runs throughout the hotel in everything they do. Absolutely lovely staff who are genuine, friendly and so helpful. Love the staff, love the food and love the rooms. I'll definitely be back here.

Very cool atmosphere — some hidden gems, but some drawbacks. AWESOME spa! ^_^ Very eco-friendly! No air conditioning (was informed at reservation), but great breeze with windows open creates a romantic setting. Mattress a little rough for me (much too soft/no support).

Travelled with our dog and they couldn't have been more thoughtful or welcoming. The area can get a little sketchy so this is good to be aware of, this isn't the hotels fault but it's something to consider. During the day it's no problem. The hotel is about 10 mins from the meat packing district, some great places to eat casually.

We stayed overnight in this hotel. Behind a very classic facade the atmosphere of a safari lodge has been created. The whole experience was amazing. The room was very comfortable; the breakfast buffet in the garden was truly perfect. Staff was efficient, informal and very friendly.

When in Copenhagen, you must stay at Axel. Perfect location, comfortable rooms, and amazing service.

Vesterbro may still be a bit rough around some of it's edges but the Axel Guldsmeden is super comfortable, with excellent breakfasts and a cosy bar area for late night drinks. Staff are really friendly and you're perfectly located for the array of local bars and eateries. In fact, wander down to the old meat packing district and you'll never be hungry again. The hotel is within 5 minutes of Københaven H station.

Very helpful and accommodating hotel to my large team. The rooms were all clean and comfortable, breakfast was lovely and the rest of their menu, try the lasagne! Great location, minutes walking from the meat packing district, the main train station or central for shopping. Staff were all lovely and friendly.

Magical hotel. We absolutely loved it. The space is great, the bed is comfortable and the body products (shampoo, lotion, soap, toothbrush) are sustainable and great. Super well located for a visit in Copenhagen.

Brilliant place to relax after busy days sightseeing. We enjoyed a trip to the spa every night to rejuvenate ahead of dinner. The spa includes products made fresh on site which helped to reinvigorate our tired London skin! Colleagues very helpful and friendly nothing too much of an ask.

Worn down. Not very clean, somebody else's hair in the shower. Would not book here again at this price point.

Welcoming, comfortable, great location and great service. I took a double superior, got a wonderful room, with bath and shower, balcony facing the courtyard. The spa was relaxing after long days of walking all over this beautiful city. Warm welcoming service, starting with the booking (I called the hotel directly), and the reception during my visit. I have read lots of reviews about the noise outside, and the strip clubs all around. So I guess during this time of year it's much better, you can choose if you want to go through the red light district or approach the hotel from the other side, and the streets were fairly quiet. I believe the summer brings the drinkers out to the streets. Highly recommended.

I use the hotel for at single night every six weeks, on business. Being away from family and home, it is easy to feel sorry for one self, mostly having to dine and kill time on your own. At Axel Guldsmeden I get exactly that friendly recognizable feel of home and coziness that I need, when I am not able to spend my own time with my family. I love it! Oh, and the breakfast buffet — outstanding! Got to remember to ask the chef how he manages to cook that bacon to absolute perfection every single time :-).

Room 110 is directly above the lobby. The music in the lobby was left on all night, in spite of a complaint to the lobby staff. June 12 2014 there was no way sleep was going to happen in that room. Sign me sleepless in Copenhagen. It is now 4:29am.

Very nice and pleasant decoration. Nice and helpful staff. A very relaxing place in a very convenient location: nearby the central railway station and not far from Stroget and other touristic spots.
