Backpackers Hostel - Ximen

Actually the first time I couldn't recommend a hostel at all. There was literally nothing included. I'm not exaggerating. No towels and not even soap in the bathroom. There is no storage for your bags in the rooms, the rooms and especially the curtains are dirty and the bathroom was a mess, as there is no separation but a small curtain in between the shower and the toilet. The whole bathroom is flooded after someone has showered. Sadly I didn't really sleep much because of the noise coming from outside andy bunkmate snoring the whole night. The only reason I gave two stars is that the staff was nice and the mattresses were ok.

Unfortunately, I had a very poor experience at this hostel. Upon check-in, I was surprised to be charged an extra 200 TWD for a towel, which was not mentioned in advance. The room was in terrible condition – wallpaper was peeling off the walls, which were visibly dirty. The bed was too short for me (I’m 188 cm tall), and the windows couldn’t be locked, which felt unsafe.
There was a lot of noise from traffic outside, and the sound insulation between rooms and the hallway was very poor. The trash bin in the bathroom was full of used sanitary pads and toilet paper with feces and wasn’t emptied until the next day, even though I reported it to the reception.
The internet connection was unstable, and there was visible mold in both the room and the air conditioning unit. I started sneezing and had trouble breathing – it genuinely felt hazardous to my health. Because of this, I decided to check out a day early and move to another place.
This hostel did not meet expectations in any way, and I cannot recommend it.

We booked a twin sharing room with a bunk bed, the room is kinda small, just enough to open luggage and is already difficult for two person to walk around, suitable for those with small luggage or backpacker.
My room is on 6th floor and the hostel does not have lift, but luckily there are staff to help to carry the luggage up and down.
The location is quite good, walking distance to ximending.

The room was not anything like the images shown on booking websites, the rooms online look very new but is not the case in real. The room we got was not very clean. We booked a twin private room but only a 4-person room was available which had bunk beds. The bunk beds were definitely not suitable for twin sharing. The only plus point was that the reception staff was friendly and very helpful with giving guidance on travelling around the city.

The staffs are nice and helpful.
The room is enough space to open a suitcase, privacy curtains installed! The hairdryer stops itself after drying for a few minutes due to overheating, if you wanna dry faster, you can ask the staff downstairs.

The service was great, the staff spoke good English and were kind. The communal space has a laundry machine (total cost is 100 NTD) and some cooking equipment (microwave and kettle). There are free water dispensers.
The hostel has 5 floors without a lift or elevator. So if you have large bulky luggage it would be difficult to carry. I don’t have much so I carried my own, but I did see a sign that offered to help guests with luggage if they needed.
The Air conditioner works very well, the room was very cold. My room had 4 beds. There was no spot to store luggage, only on the floor and it was quite small. Each bed came with a personal light, privacy curtain, and outlet. The safe could fit a wallet or passport but not a laptop or large camera. The mattress was thick and comfortable.
I did find some hairs on my bed. But the hotel was clean aside from that. Our bathroom was cleaned during my stay.

Good location and staff super friendly/ helpful. However, they came into the room early when I was sleeping to do noisy cleaning (hoover etc). Then someone checked in that night at 3:30am, turning the lights on. Why would you let someone check into a shared dorm at that time?! 😩

I didn’t stay in this hotel but I emailed them about my Taiwan Tourism vouchers;
*They can communicate in English perfectly.
*They’re so responsive, they reply almost under 30 minutes every time.
I couldn’t stay with them but I believe it would be a good stay, too.

We stayed here one night. Staff were friendly, the rooms are okay and the common area downstairs is not very comfortable. The beds have curtains, chargers and a light.
We would have liked to rent towels as travellers, but we could either buy new towels for 200NTD or buy disposable towels for 10NTD which may as well have been paper towel.
It was okay for a short or quick stay but not an overall comfortable hostel for longer.
