Banff Ptarmigan Inn

The staff as a whole we're lovely and very polite and helpful. The room was very rustic a little dated but the facilities were modern. Very clean small queen beds but very comfortable. I would highly recommend some war plugs for sleeping as the freight train blows his horns on average 10 times a night and it's loud. The hotel is 5 mins walk to town. Plus we got a complementary bus pass each for the 3 days here so it took us to the gondola and all around the area. Parking was included in our room but I'm not sure if it was free due to been out of season. Lovely restaurant but the breakfast finishes at 10am. Over all we would highly recommend this place it was wonderful. Great local. Staff. Hotel.

Really enjoyed our stay. Loved that they have a steam room, sauna and two hot tubs! That really made our stay relaxing. Also absolutely loved the staff! Hannah at the front desk is so sweet, kind, knowledgeable and so very helpful! Hannah went above and beyond all three days of our stay and really made it memorable!

We loved our stay. Close to everything, easy to access transportation to the sites and skiing. The bartenders are all amazing. They have an a great restaurant and bar that serves breakfast and dinner. We would definitely stay again.

The hotel is overpriced for what it is, the staff is crabby and early check in is impossible. We sat in the lobby for hours waiting for our room because the cleaning staff work their own schedule. Customer service is the worst here out of any hotel I have ever traveled to. Yes the location is fabulous being in the heart of Banff, but the hotel is outdated and overpriced for everything else to be mediocre and subpar at best and staff who can’t give a hoot to accommodate guests. Discount hotels stayed in have far exceeded this place. Stay away and save your money!

Stayed here for a busy long holiday weekend over New Years and have nothing but good things to say. The location is perfect with just a short walk to all of the cafes, shops, restaurants, and bars that downtown Banff has to offer. This is a ideal location to base your ski trip out of as the hotel is equipped with a ski locker room and the Sunshine/Lake Louise resort ski shuttle stops directly outside. The hot tub never got to busy, much to my surprise, and was the perfect way to end a ski day before going out into town for the night. I was even to take a shower in the locker room after my last day of skiing when I had already checked out of my room that morning. Great accommodations all around!

This busy 3 star "hotel" is okay for the price point. It is well located. But be aware the description of the rooms LIE by omission.
**All standard rooms face into a dark atrium. There is no privacy, there is no light and there is no view at all.
Booking. Com. The description does not state that standard tooms face into the void. This is a very big reason to avoid this place.
You can hear all the comings and goings from the echoing atrium and the narrow hallways.
The spa/gym/sauna is awful and best avoided at all costs. There is a nice spa place at the accommodation next door… probably best to avoid this weird place and stay there.

Overall good experience. The sheets were stained with some kind of hair dye in our room, they did offer to switch us to a new room. The front staff were very helpful. Having Rocky Mountain products in the room was a very nice local touch and I love their products. The pool towels were not stocked the first night we were here, maybe bring one from the room. The location is great, so close to Banff’s main strip, though that may have proved to be a judgment mistake; the very loud highly indulged fool guests that were yelling in the halls the second evening made it a bit unpleasant. The complimentary bus pass to get you around is great. Overall tidy and comfy and would consider staying again.

Clean and comfortable stay.
The room was very tidy, and the bed was really comfortable. The brunch on the first floor was reasonably priced and tasted good. The hotel also offers free parking both underground and above ground — just keep in mind it’s first-come, first-served when the hotel is full.
Overall, a pleasant and convenient place to stay.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights as a family of three (including our 8-year-old), and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The location couldn’t be better — right in the heart of Banff downtown, close to shops, restaurants, and all the main attractions.
The hotel offers safe underground parking and even provided us with a 3-day Banff transit pass, which made exploring the area super convenient. Our room was spotless, the beds were very comfortable, and housekeeping did a fantastic job throughout our stay.
The front desk staff greeted us with warm smiles at check-in, and everyone we interacted with was courteous and welcoming. A special shoutout to Ms. Karen at the front desk and Ms. Mia from housekeeping for going above and beyond to help us locate our lost AirPods — we truly appreciate their kindness and effort!
Overall, this is one of the cleanest and finest hotels we’ve stayed in. Highly recommended for families and anyone looking for comfort, great service, and an unbeatable location in Banff.

All around sub par, which is unfortunate. If you're paying $300 dollars/ night, I would expect there to be ample parking for people. Instead, I had to pay an additional 40 dollars for parking. I would also expect some kind of breakfast to be included, be it continental, or buffet style.
The rooms are mediocre, at best. The "blanket" is very thin, and there aren't extra's in the room. We stayed in the "superior double queen with balcony" and it was SO superior that we didn't even have bath robes. The location is fantastic, and we were given bus passes for the day.
The in room soap and shampoo/ conditioner is rocky mountain soap co. So that was nice! They do have a keurig that comes with 2 pods of french roast and 2 pods of decaf, and you get a few packets of sugar and coffee mate.
I would come back to this hotel, if it were a fraction of the cost, but nothing made the hotel anywhere near worth $300/ night.

Rooms were a little dated but pretty clean. The hotel was located in central Banff which made enjoying the town very easy. We didn’t use our rental car once.
The front desk staff were kind and helpful BUT, forget about the restaurants. Staff were nice enough, food was good but, the service was WAY BELOW STANDARD! Slow, slow, slow… nothing else to add……
I would stay here again, just wouldn’t use the dining facility.

The hotel is ideally situated for walks around town. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are very dark and we asked for a table lamp for a bit more light and we had a room overlooking the street so plenty of windows. The decor is very dated the carpet is a museum item. Except for the bathroom which has had a makeover. There is no storage space so lived out of a case for 3 days. The breakfast is very slow, we waited 40 minutes before the meal arrived and had to put it in a takeaway box as we were on a tour. The hotel needs a general overhaul.

Beautiful exterior. The room is a bit old styled and dated. We've got an accessible room which is a huge room with two queen beds and two TV. The bathroom is small with little space to get through toilet to make it to the shower, which shouldn't be accessible if one needs it. There's no other mirror outside the bathroom. No view from the room. We could see rooms from the building across the driveway. The room has musky smell but was OK after we have air-conditioning on for a while. The hot tub and sauna was good to have. Wi-Fi works but TV is not streamable. The kettle in the room was full of limescale but they replaced with a good one on request. I didn't sleep well on the first night because the pillows were too hard but found out later that we were given some hard and some soft pillows which made my sleep much better.

Beautiful mountain view suite right next to all restaurants and bus station. The room was perfect for a couple, parking was right underneath the hotel and everything to do in the town of Banff was just a short walk away. Highly recommend.

This hotel is perfect for a Banff getaway!
The rooms were spacious with a very large bed, bathroom was excellent with a bath and a shower. Air con in room too. There were two restaurants we ate in both, very reasonably priced and tasty. There are two hot tubs and sauna in the health suite, we used once it was very quiet. The Banff avenue location makes this hotel a great stay, Its very close to all the restaurants and shops. I would highly recommend.

Got a hot tub, sauna and steam. Rooms were spacious and closer to all the good restaurants. I stayed at any hotel a bit more upper downtown during my stay in Banff, so I was able to compare. This one may look a little older but was well kept. I need to house 4 of us, I like the set up where o e was king, the other was queen with the bathroom in between, so each bed had a little more privacy and felt more spacious. Happy to come back again.
