I haven't stayed on the property and writing about the booking experience and terrible service. TL;DR — Made a mistake and spent a full week of daily calls to the hotel with only one return call from the very rude manager and $45 administration fee. Longer version: I was booking a hotel for my Christmas Vacation to Tasmania and was booking a hotel in Launceston for 25-Dec, but while booking I incorrectly selected current month (August) instead of December and booked a non-refundable room at Balmoral on the York. I realized my mistake after a couple of hours (not after 4 days, not the next day but on the same day). That' when the nightmare started. I immediately raised a request on Booking. Com if I can cancel for less. I also contacted the hotel but the manager had left and reception informed that the manager would call the next day. The manager called the next day and gave two options — either forfeit all the money or move the booking to December (he quoted the amount higher than what was available on booking. Com). He asked me to think it through and he would call after the weekend. I didn't get any call on Monday — I called Monday afternoon and the manager had left and I was told I would get a call next day. No call on the next day so I called in the afternoon and I explained that I made a mistake and if he could consider giving me a partial/full refund. He became very rude and said he was very busy but would give me an offer in the evening or the next day.

The staff at this hotel were very friendly and the room was comfortable and inexpensive. It is near to the centre of town. The dining room had a slightly old world look with a red bench seat belong one wall, where we ate breakfast and this was probably the highlight of my stay. My room was quiet and had a good view. I would happily stay there again.

Will definitely stay here again! Friendly service, comfortable rooms, great central location. Staff gave me great information about options around me and weather warnings. They were just very helpful. Booking directly with them will give you options around late check out and complimentary breakfast. Great parking as well.

Good Budget Accomadation easy to get to and close to town so you can wonder around and admire all that Launceston has to offer. Rooms are basic but warm in winter and the bedding is more then sufficient (especially for us Queenslanders! ) Friendly staff and the breakfast choice for continental is more then adequate. Options of a hot breakfast can be had as well.

Good value hotel in a very convenient location. Very friendly, welcoming and helpful people on the front desk. Room was nice, had everything you need, was clean and in good condition. Netflix, Stan and some foxtel channels are a great inclusion. Main criticism is the continental breakfast is very expensive for what you get!

Great location and a nice, clean room with a comfortable bed. Friendly and efficient staff. We appreciated the free Wi-Fi and access to Netflix and Stan. The room was a bit stuffy at night without the airconditioner and we had trouble getting the airconditioner to stay on. There was also a noise coming from the wall at regular intervals during the last few nights — we couldn't figure out the source but I had to use earplugs. Overall a good hotel.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at Balmoral on York and loved our stay. The staff could not have been more helpful. The room was clean and please text and the hotel is well situated. The only reason I'm not giving this hotel 5 stars was the bathroom in our wheelchair accessible room was not that easy for my wheelchair using wife to use. The toilet is very low and the shower chair was odd. TIP : book directly with the hotel and get free premium breakfast daily.

Comfortable and convenient to Launceston CBD Not a new hotel but it's clean roomy comfy and friendly I would recommend it.

I will say it is the best of 3 star hotels, worst of 4 star hotels. Room size is good. Shower is not the best. Breakfast is continental, but you have to pay more for hot food like bacon and eggs.

The Balmoral on York is in a good location on the edge of the Launceston CBD snd just a short walk from the mall. Our room was a little dated but it was spacious, clean and had everything we needed — comfortable bed, fridge, microwave, tea and coffee making facilities, Netflix and super fast Wi-Fi. The continental breakfast included in our room rate was ok and the owners and staff were very friendly and helpful.

We found our comfortable and very clean. Trevor was particularly welcoming and helpful.

Good location and fine rooms, apple TV adapter and free Wi-Fi. Food supplied is not great, but plenty of nice places nearby to eat. Gym next door, decent views, comfortable bedding.

The Room is nice and confrable, Netflix included with the room and NBN Wi-Fi!

Loved this place. We stayed here in Feb 2017 and enjoyed each and every bit of it. The owner is a great guy and serves his customers to excellence. We loved the breakfast included and for just $7 extra you can enjoy fantastic cooked breakfast which I highly recommend.

They are so kind and go out of their way to make it a great stay. I've been here aboy 7-10 times, every time I go to launceston. Price is very good and if you include breakfast it is substantial. Highly recommended.

Tired rooms aircon did not work well even when set to 18 degrees. Impersonal service. Will look elsewhere next time. Expensive for what what you get. No restaurant.

Looks a little rough from outside but inside the rooms are really spacious, well equipped and clean. Staff are friendly and competent. Excellent value for a 4 star hotel. Good location for a Launceston visit.

Perfection. Clean, large room, extremely helpful staff, full cooked breakfast, great views from a decent balcony, perfect location. Couldn't be better!

Good interiors, clean but quiet neighbourhood.

The room that we stayed in was excellent. It has everything from a flat screen TV, couch, dining table and chairs, hairdryer, separate toilet from shower, a double bed and a single bed in a separate room. The room was spacious, beds were comfy, and everything was spotlessly clean. All three of us had good sleep and felt like home. There was also free in-room wireless internet. The staff were all really friendly, especially Trevor, who made us feel so welcome. Trevor offered us advice on getting around the city and on the day of check out, we wanted hot breakfast and he happily offered us the hot breakfast option for a very reasonable price. Breakfast was delicious, and the portion was generous, even better than going out to the city. Overall this place is great value for money, location is close to the main streets, and really can't fault anything! Will definitely be back if we are visiting Launceston again.

We had a great stay, meals were excellent. Staff were attentive to our needs, including pushing the evening meal forward to accommodate us and the other in — house guests who were attending a show that evening. The rooms were clean and spacious. Central to town. We would definitely stay again. Thanks for your kind hospitality.

Food is reasonably priced and tasty, rooms are neat, clean and tidy and the management will jump to your requests. Just plain good service.

The Hotel reception staff are polite and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. The mattress was lovely as were the pillows, very comfortable. The room and had heat pump/air conditioner but we didn't need to use it. I like that I could open the window to get fresh air. The microwave in the room was handy as I'm a diabetic. My son said the complimentary continental breakfast was very nice and generous. We stayed two nights and I can't fault anything. It was very pleasant. And I would certainly stay there again.

We got a room on the 4/f with very nice city view — we found it worthy of the value. As its name, it offers a reasonable spacious, comfortable room and it locates within walking distance of city centre and parks. Staff are all smiling and friendly, especially Trevor, who welcomed us warmly and offered us travel tips as well. Full breakfast is well cooked and good value, we definitely will stay here again next time — just not on a Sunday, when everything is closed — including the restaurant in this Comfort Inn — and if there were a shower curtain — it would be perfect.
