Reviews of Microtel Inn & Suites 2*
Clean rooms great services.
They have a special CDL trucker's rate of $394 a week for 1 person; if you are broke down & your truck is in the shop, that low rate really helps. The rooms are clean, and the staff are friendly — — this is my second time here in 2 years, and they actually remembered me.
Tight spot super affordable convenience.
This place is a joke. We left our residence because of a domestic violence/stalking situation. Needed somewhere safe for us and our kids. We asked for 2 rooms because we had 3 dogs. When we found out we would have to stay longer then expected we knew we couldnt afford 2 rooms, so sadly we had to get rid of a dog, morning of june 2. I even asked if we would be charged til the 3rd even if we canceled the room and was told no we wouldnt be charged, by Kira. I was then told housekeeping would go in and check it out and Kira would call me around 2pm. She never called. So I went back to the front around 545pm and asked the night shift person if it was checked out, she said no. She then said she noted the account, text and left the room keys with a sticky note asking why it wasnt checked out. So I went back to the front before 1100am on the 3rd asking why it wasnt checked out. Kira's excuse, because they seen my husband and dogs leaving the room around 130pm, when he was at work from 8am til 530pm and his boss even verified it! Then was told the room was trashed. When we only used 1 bed, the TV didnt even work in the room and we used 2 rags and then some dog hair. So she then charged us for the room and took our deposit on the room for an entire day that we didnt even use the room. She then told us because we booked 2 room til the 3rd we had to pay for them even if we didnt use them after she said we wouldn't be charged for the 2nd room if we canceled early.
Maids are theifs and don't do their job. Needles all over parking lot.
Terrible service. You don’t get what you book. We booked a king suite, and after driving 4 hours to get here, we got a dump of a room that has 2 queen beds and a shower that barely worked. When I told the female at the front desk, sha flat out said that she didn’t care and that she wouldn’t do anything about it. Horrible service. Low quality rooms. And housekeeping came pounding on the door at 8:00 am! Really? Who the crap does that? This place is a joke. Avoid this place at all costs.
Clean, spacious rooms. Great water pressure in the shower… always a plus. Elevator for those who can't take stairs. This place gets 5 stars from me!
You are definitely getting what you paid for but it was a wonderful stay! The room was clean and big. There was a fridge, microwave and sink which was really nice. The staff was incredibly friendly and I would definitely stay there again!
Worst service ever! We called in the afternoon since we were coming from a distance. We were trying to decide whether to drive the distance at night and get a good nights sleep or just drive in the morning to the airport. The shuttle service idea won out and we called the hotel to book. The receptionist DID NOT want to even help us. We were told to book everything online. We asked about the shuttle and were told to pay for it when we checked in. We asked if we needed to sign up for it ahead and she said no, just take care of it when you check in. She just wanted to get off the phone. We hung up and booked our room online. When we checked in much later that night, we were told that the shuttle we wanted was full and we could go an entire hour earlier. So much for any extra sleep. I stated my case and was told the receptionist would discuss my issue with the manager. She said she would call her as soon as she could and get back with me. When we woke up I still hadn’t heard from her. The people who work here are not interested in customer service. Will NOT be staying here again!
I would stay here again. The rooms were clean and it was close to I-80 and the airport. Quiet rooms although if you want food you have to drive at least a few miles into the city to find anything.
The rooms and hotel in general were clean and nice. I was less than pleased with the attitude of the woman working the front desk. There was a mix-up with the reservation and she was rude and unhelpful on the phone and refused to connect me with her supervisor. Said she doesn't have one, so obviously she owns wyndham. She was not any nicer in person. Never smiled and was very short when she spoke with me. Breakfast was good with lots of options. Nothing close to the hotel except other hotels.
Pretty pissed. Was told I had to pay $20 to park my car while I was out of town… It's days free parking… wth? Then I see nominal fee to park… thought that was if you didn't stay at the hotel! I would have stayed at a nicer hotel. This is old, torn carpet and very small counter space in the bathroom. Very misleading! Tell people upfront you have to pay to park even if you pay the $80+ to say there!
There is a reason this hotel only has two stars! I would not stay here if you paid me too! I booked my hotel a week ago and paid 180 dollars for it and they overbooked my room and told us they didnt have anywhere for us to stay! When I got there the lady already had all my information and told me she knew at the start of her shift that this was an issue and she didnt know what to do to fix it. I asked her when her shift started and she said 10pm. I had called earlier this morning and told them it would be a late check in and I wouldnt be leaving my home til around 1030pm and it was a 3.5 hour drive. So she knew before I even left my town that there was going to be an issue. When I asked her why she didnt call me she said she "didnt have the knowledge to do so". How do u not have the knowledge to be a considerate decent person to call someone and let them know what is going on when they knew so far in advance? This hotel is a scam! They overbook people let them drive over 3.5 hours to get there on there wedding night with 2 little kids in the car and tells them sorry I didn't have the knowledge to call but your card will be refunded in 3 to 5 business days! They also sent me an email thanking me for checking in after they had told me it was full so whether or not I even see the refund is still up in the air seeing as I have to sit and wait 3 to 5 business days before I even know for sure!
There was a deal of dog excrement in the room. Management attempted to avoid discussion of the fecal matter, and then appeared to find it amusing. Ass. Manager Elizabeth Baza said, "We don't owe you anything, " and specifically ordered each member of my family out after my mother complained, stating it was because we were with her.
The half-refund we were pettily given was then yet more pettily rescinded upon the hotel finding out we had contacted hotels (dot) com about their slovenly rooms and dismissive unprofessionalism.
I see from Facebook that the number one phrase mentioned in these reviews is "rude lady at front desk. " True, but the number two on the floor was just as vile.
Very Nice Motel. Clean and nice Rooms. Excellent Service and very good breakfasts. The only downside was that the hot water failed a few times.
Friendly staff, breakfast was perfectly fine (in particular for being complementary), clean room and linens, and the room felt spacious for the price. I will definitely be staying here again, even if I wasn't specifically shopping for a bargain stay. Only thing is, be cautious that it doesn't have a pool or some of those bonus amenities you might get with a pricier stay. (Though it might have a weight room, I didn't check). In all, I highly recommend!
Clean, easy access. We stayed here because it is pet friendly. Pet fee of $20 per dog per night was a little high. Reminds me of an updated Motel 6, but again clean. Staff was very nice.
As a 33 yo traveling millenial, I thought this place was great. Its a notch lower than holiday inn express and for the price you get your monies worth. There's a shuttle to and from the airport but make sure to call in advance to notify. The rooms are clean and the shower was powerful. Breakfast was standard but satisfying. They have a mini store that sells quick frozen foods, cup o noodles, and snacks. I have no complaints on this place and boy do I love to complain. Cheers.
Great price, room was clean and in good condition. Front desk people are friendly and they have a few dozen items for sale like personals and microwavable food. Good location. We'll use again next time we're in SLC.
This is an affordable hotel that is a couple steps above Motel 6. It is very clean and it has a complimentary breakfast from 6:30 to 9:30 a. M. They have a convenience store inside the hotel lobby and the prices for most of the things are absolutely outrageous. It is older and the decor shows that but it is clean and not run down at all. Is very convenient as it is right off I-80 and right by the airport. But there is only one restaurant that you can go to get any food. You have to venture into North Salt Lake to be able to get affordable food. They will give you a 10% off coupon for the restaurant that is a few blocks away if you ask for it. They do have room service and the prices of room service is very high as with room service anywhere. There is a microwave and a small refrigerator in the room. The beds were very comfortable but the pillows were awful! The people that work the front desk were very nice and accommodating!
I'm pleased with this place. Stayed at the Ramada inn last couple days and it sucked! This place and the people are nice. Rooms are clean and amenities are great! I recommend this place highly!
Close to airport. Free shuttle to airport. Free late check-in. Free breakfast! Clean room and comfy beds!
My family and I have been traveling for the last few days on a road trip vacation. We have had absolutely wonderful stays at Wyndam hotels the last 4 nights. Until we came here. I have a corporate contract with my employer for Wyndam hotels so we figured we would take advantage of this. We booked online and were immediately charged for the hotel stay… strange none of the other hotels charged us this way. The others charged us at the time of check in. This place did not. Once we arrived we were informed that we were required to pay a 100 dollar deposit. WE BOOKED WITH A CREDIT CARD, they already had my payment information to take care of any "incidentals" as they refered to the deposit. We because we were already charged it would be 3 to 5 business days to receive a refund. So a 73 dollar room turned into an almost 200 dollar room. These rooms are a half step above motel 6. If you are thinking of staying here. Do your self a favor. Dont.
March 27, 2018 Stay away from Wyndham. Stay away from this place. I was there yesterday and they had a water leak so they turned off the water. We checked out as there was no water for showers nor washing your hands. ok. Incidents happen, we all know that, but this place does not care about customer service. We didn't want to stay and they wanted to charge us a $25 fee for cancelling (due to no water). I protested against this absurd fee as it was not our fault we did want water and they weren't providing this basic necessity. After my protest they waived the fee. The nerve of them to even want to charge a fee under the circumstances. Poor customer service. They had a lobby full of customers wanting to cancel and get their full refund. They made each customer more upset by not wanting to do the right thing, which would have been to offer them their full refund without trying to charge them a 25 dollar cancellation fee. They made a bad situation worse. Not a place I will ever visit again. No way! I will never give Wyndham my business. I posted a picture of their notice. It was past 7 pm and they still had no water and they had no idea when the water was going to be back. With so many other places to stay, we decided to leave and go to a place with water. Their customer service was disappointing. This company did not care about the inconvenience to their customers and they also took their time cancelling our reservation.
We stayed only for a quick over night stay. It was decent for that. Probably would not stay here for an extended stay.
Very noisy refrigerator that kept me up all night. Very dark. One of the ceiling lights was out. Then the fire senor went off from a bad battery or something. I had to call front desk so they could remove battery. Parking was also very tight. By the time I got there only 2 spots left in the lot. Both were ready too small for my SUV. I will never use the chain again.
More good service and the view D very clean.
The hotel is alright, at first glance the room seemed clean but upon further expection the room was fairly dirty. However, the room was pretty cheap. I wasn't expecting it to be 100% perfect. Overall a decent stay for a low budget hotel.
Great look and hot tub. But no small refrigerator or microwave in room and the breakfast restraint opened. 20 minutes late. Staff were friendly.
Decent rates comparably speaking and staff was friendly. Towels appeared to not have been fresh. They appeared to have some dust build up and the bathtub had some film. The mini fridge was vey loud. Overall was ok.
My expierance here was horrible. The girl that checked us in (Maryia I think was her name, not sure about the spelling) was rude and cold. No eye contact, and acted like she hated her job. She has no business working with people. The halls smelled like marijuana. One if the beds in our room was on a huge slant, almost like the box spring was broken. There was holes in the sheets, and our fridge made a horrible noise. Our keys quit working and when we went to the front desk the same girl was outside smoking and acted very put out to come help us with our keys. Overall it was a horrible experience.
Free shuttle, clean comfortable bed and close to a few eateries that you can walk too. Afternoon/night desk clerk was not in the best of moods (but we all have them occasionally). Worse thing was our room was above the laundry so the smell of drying linen permeated the room for our entire visit. Acceptable for a single nights stay, but would not recommend it for longer visits.
I had to interact with the GM as the front desk agent was short, unrelenting in her "being right" and general lack of courtesy to do her job "with a smile. " Waiting for her almost 5 minutes to even arrive at the desk was not a good way to start a stay… room was clean and a decent value. But, in traveling so many years, I can't say I'll ever stay here-much less at a wyndam brand.
The staff was very polite and efficient. Breakfast was hot and plentiful. The bed was firm and comfortable. It is very close to the airport, but I couldn't hear the planes lanning or taking off.
Bed was very comfortable and room was clean. The free Wi-Fi had a good speed; enough to support video streaming. They are very generous with the towls, quiet location. Free breakfast buffet had a good selection of variety. The hotel interior did feel a little outdated and the temperature control on the shower was rather temperamental. A great option for if you need a cheap comfortable place to sleep for a night or 2.
Great location and friendly staff. Even on Christmas day when we were traveling they were prompt and kind. The breakfast could be better and the AC machines need to be updated.
The receptionist was friendly and then breakfast was filling. They were very accommodating due to our late check in and our dog. It was your standard chain hotel with very clean rooms and a good bed but would stay at again if in salt lake.
This is a clean hotel with a nice breakfast. It is a little ways away from everything, but the hotel shuttle will take you downtown for free. I have no real complaints.
Loved it! Prices where good. Hotel staff friendly. Rooms were large and clean. I would definitely recommend.
Quiet hotel with washer and dryer. With breakfast and proximity to shopping.
Hotel room was nice. But the housekeeping staff are absolutely horrible. First even though we had a dnd sign they started knocking on the door at 8:30 am. Then even though we had a late check out (12 noon) they started asking when we were checking out at 10:30. Then again at 11 and then at 11:15am. Advised the front desk and they said they are working on the communication, but most of them don’t understand cause the don’t speak English. Also we went down for breakfast and they were out of waffle mix, instead of making more they guy said no we are out until tomorrow. That was upsetting. The afternoon shift and evening shift were great! So it was a nice stay but just beware that you will probably get woke up at the crack of dawn.
The hotel is in need of a lot of refurbishment. The tile in the bathroom moves and cracks. I've stayed a few Microtels because they are usually consistent and comfortable but this was probably my least favorite. Also got woken up by housekeeping both mornings at 8 o'clock asking if I needed turn down service… even on the morning I was checking out.
Room was clean, we got a pack and play for our baby and it was really clean. They had some breakfast our for guests leaving early. The only thing was that I could hear the floor above us, souch I was woken up several times. The bathrooms we're also outdates but not the worst.
I just stayed 1 night as I was taking a flight out in the morning. It was also less expensive than other hotels in the area. The hotel was a bit worn although the bed was comfortable. The staff seemed friendly, but less professional than the other higher end area hotels. They do serve a light breakfast in the morning, but not many choices.
The price was great, but I usually think of a suite having a bedroom with a door. We had a microwave, but no plates, bowls or anything to put food on. There were no linens for the sofabed in the room, nor was there an extra blanket. The location was great, about 5 minutes from the airport. A printed channel guide for the TV would have be helpful.
Can't speak for airport services but room was nice and clean, staff was polite and accommodating. The hotel was quite full and I could tell they were flustered but I can't knock them for that. Don't expect unbelievable luxury but got one of the cheapest hotels in SLC booking a week out of our music festival its great value.
Average. Beds where ok but the bottom sheets were not made for the large mattress and kept pulling off the corner. The breakfast bar needs help. The cereal dispensers looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months.
Super clean and comfortable. Perfect for our rugby team. Will definitely be staying here again next year!
In town for business two weeks in a row. Stayed at the same hotel twice … first time great service ok room. Second time… the desk clerk had chip on her shoulder from the moment I walked in. I checked in she asked if I needed a shuttle in the morning. I told her I didn't know what time but yes I would. She responds, well we won't give you a ride if you don't make a reservation. I say I can't I don't know when I have to be there and it wasn't an issue last week. She responds well that's not going to happen this week and we won't take you back to your work. I said ok I want a reservation for 5 6 7 8 9 and 10. Now most would think I was being a smart ass and was joking but I was completely serious. I just can't believe her attitude and I thought this was the hospitality industry… ive seen more hospitality from a honey badger. Just found out the badger in question is the assistant manager Kara Carlson.
The Microtel was well managed it was clean the room had plenty of space with a couch and kingsize bed and a breakfast bar. The only thing was breakfast they were cleaning with bleach while we were eating which was a little yuck but otherwise it was a very nice place and very well ordered. We would stay there again.
The location has nothing walking distance, definately you need a car. The room was very nice, clean and the staff very friendly.
Light in the entry way of the room was dangling when I arrived. The building is incredibly hard to get to. I had to do the loops around the airport to finally find the proper entrance. The breakfast is decent.
Clean room, free and actually useable internet, comfy beds. Overall not a bad spot to lay your head for a couple of nights.
I had a very good experience here. The staff were very helpful and room was great.
The staff is awesome! They are nothing but professional, especially when other customers were being belligerent, self entitled jerks.
Rooms were nice and clean. Staff was friendly. Easy location convenient to the airport.
Clean, quiet and comfortable, tried to book on travelocity, but would not go through. They matched price and gave us a clean room. Nothing fancy, but great for price. Also has shuttle to airport. Front desk was freindy for coming in at midnight.
Rooms are decent and the young lady who checked us in was super sweet. We rented the room for 3 days since we are here on a business trip. Woke up the first morning to go look at possible moving locations and to grab a bite to eat. Upon our return I noticed my makeup bags (yes 2. Just a bit overboard) had been rummaged through. I noticed that they helped themselves to 2 Mac lipsticks, Mac foundation, and a dermablend foundation. They didn't stop there. They stole my husbands Levi's as well. Over 200 dollars worth of our things gone. They should have waited to our last day. I may not have noticed then smh.
Roaches! I left immediately but they wouldn't refund. And the hallway smelled like a cigarette butt. Do not stay here. You could end up with a roach in your suitcase.
Micro tell is always a good place for the night. I like their cleanliness and the breakfast. I especially like that they also provide a welcoming bowl of soup during evening check-in hours.
My truck was being serviced. The shuttle service took more than 2 hours because the front desk and shuttle driver do NOT understand english. The free Wi-Fi had blocked youtube, so I could not catch up on my shows. The cable is VERY limited. The house keeping BANGED on the door before 9 am (check out time is 12pm). I have stayed in cheaper hotels that was better than this. I will be telling the Rush Truck Services to NOT recommend this hotel.
Nice place, nice friendly staff, clean room, bigger and nicer than most hotel rooms, fridge, microwave. I liked it! Good Wi-Fi! I'm glad I found this place! Peace and love Jim.
I very much enjoyed our stay. The negative posts did not reflect my experience here at all. The front desk staff was superb… very helpful and attentive. Rooms were clean and smelled good, as did the lobby. Bed's were comfy. Breakfast in the a. M. Was just right. They offered bacon, cereal, coffee, pastries, sausage, yogurt, oatmeal, juice, & waffles.
Rooms were a little cramped but bed were comfortable. Friendly staff.
Jessuca the girl behind the counter seemed more interested in flirting with the hotel shuttle driver than actually helping a customer. Was so put off by the experience I cancelled reservation.
Clean, friendly with lots of good choices for breakfast. Comfortable, clean room with fresh smelling scent. I love this property and stay here as often as I get a chance when visiting Salt Lake.
Clean, overall a good stay. We loved that we could park our car their for only 20 bucks while we flew out on our vacation. Shuttle was fast and quick to pick us up just as promised at the front desk. Front desk people are pleasure to deal with. They provided good breakfast options for us, overall hotel felt clean and nice.
Great hotel. Shuttle service was good and prompt. Breakfast was good in the morning. Front desk and all staff was very helpful and kind. Internet was also very stable and fast. Cleanliness of hotel was exceptional. I would book here again in future.
Everything seemed ok at first arrival. We paid a 40$ cash deposit on our dogs. The rooms seemed decent however the night crew are a** holes. We'd been out several times to walk our dogs and during the final trip we found three used needles out in the lawn. Disgusting on our way back in the assistant manager Tara Colson asked us what room we were in. We told her and she said that's not a pet room. I continued to tell her that we paid the deposit and she could look it up. She was rude the entire time and after she looked it up she didn't apologize or anything. She just said ok you're good. I called the front desk after we got the dogs squared away and asked for her name. The guy I spoke to asked why and I told him because she was rude and made us feel uncomfortable with our dogs even after paying a deposit. I told him I'd never be back here that the la Quinta inn doesn't even charge for dogs and I should have went there to start with. He said he'd be more than happy if I did. Rude people crappy place. You can find better.
The rooms are descent and room service is clean. Other than that its a dump. Shuttle service is horrible, front desk is rude, Wi-Fi is non-existent, there is nothing around you in the walking distance. Trucker trainees are majority of their clientele which means we stay for 3 weeks at a time. They will not provide any extra service for the prices they charge. Avoid if you can.
It's been one of the best places to stay overnight in Slc ut, Do Not Go There! They change the personnel, this people now they just called me a whitee me and my girlfriend! For asking them to not switch the TV Chanel? We are in USA people! You go to have a rest and in the morning the personnel it's addressing you with such a racist words? This place it's definitely lost. They say the rooms are clean and there is a Tabaco smell everywhere.
Great rooms and friendly service. The shuttle is a bit slow and seems to only run after 4 pm. Best motel I've ever stayed at in Salt Lake City.
The rooms were great, our flight arrived late in the evening, and we were able to get our rooms quickly. Water pressure in the shower was amazing! Very clean rooms. The breakfast wasn't the best, but it was sufficient. Overall, I would stay here again.
I was really impressed with the nice, clean, modern rooms and was very comfortable here. The staff was friendly and took care of all I needed.
My experience at this hotel was exceptional. It didn't cost me an arm and a leg to get a room with a pet. The staff was really helpful. I recommend this hotel. I will also be using this hotel for my next road trip.
The flight to San Francisco at 9 PM cancelled due to engine trouble. All transferred to the next flight at 8 am. All passengers were given hotel. All are different. I got into this. Impressions are very positive. Self-complimentary Shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel. Voucher airline took immediately and after 2 minutes I was already in the room. Perhaps after a 20 hour journey without sleep I would cardboard box seemed nice bed but nevertheless. In room: fridge, microwave, TV, air conditioning, iron, Hairdryer and what I'm most pleased — coffee).
