The first time I stayed here was lucky. I had to go to Charleston, and I didn't have a lot of money to spend on a hotel. Given the price I found for this place, I wasn't expecting this standard. It was immaculate, and the room was amazing. Not only that, but it's location offers easy access to restaurants, shopping centers, and just about every major highway nearby. Since then, I stay here every time I'm in the area.

I was skeptical but I needed a sub $100 hotel for a Friday night in order to attend an event in downtown Charleston. I arrived at 6pm and left at 8am so I didn't want to pay a lot. I paid in advance and got the room for $93. I had read that it had been renovated and was hopeful. To say that I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. Our room, 118, had indeed been renovated. Knowing I was going to write this review, I started looking for something in the room that I could find that was bad. The only thing I could come up with was the two bedside flexible LED lights did not work. Everything in this room was new and it didn't even have the crud around the bathtub to floor junction that is always present no matter how hard you clean it. Room had a fridge/freezer with microwave, big TV with cable, bedside USB charging ports, new carpet, new tile, new bathroom fixtures, new furniture, new beds, new lights, new AC/Heater etc. It was quiet and there was no riff raff staying there. If all that wasn't enough there is a Waffle House adjacent to the parking lot. You can walk to it. I believe any reviews you read about bed bugs must be for the "other" Econo Lodge in North Charleston, not this one. They must have been mistakenly added here.

Great room. Very clean, comfortable and recently renovated. Staff is professional, attentive and friendly. I'm glad I didn't listen to all the negative comments. I would definitely stay here again.

My husband stayed here for a work trip with his coworkers and woke up with bites all over his body, everyone of the coworkers did. They claimed they “renovated”, then why did I read a review from over a year ago talking about their experience with the bed bugs in this hotel. It’s disgusting and I am appalled they are even still in business, if you read any of these “real reviews” thanking the staff and claiming the rooms are the cleanest thing saying they’d like the damn walls they are so clean, they’re obviously fake and written by the hotel and it’s employees. My husband is currently at the doctor because he’s having such a bad reaction to the bed bug bites. It’s disgusting and it makes me sad to think about the families that could be staying there and their children waking up with infectious bites all over their bodies. I’m begging y’all don’t give them any of your business or money that they can use to continue and support their shady awful business.

Great overnight stay, facilities were adequate with minimum amenities if you just need a place to rest. Parking lot can be congested and noisy during the weekend.

It was a mouse quiet area. Located next tho it was a waffle house. And 2 gas stations. So it was very convenient.

Location is ideal, service is acceptable, room is better then expected, but Internet service needs improvement.

I read a review that said this place had bedbugs. Ladies you got the wrong place! This place is so clean even the tub and toilet are so white. Everything is amazing! The people are are so welcoming and very very pleasant. People don't judge this place by that one review or it's name. It's a great place. And just want to thank the employees for all there hard work keeping it so nice.

When I checked in the staff member that checked us in was nice. When my 7 yr old son and I entered our room there was a hole on the wall and a shoeprint on the wall about 5ft from the floor. So the walls were dirty. There were ants in the bathtub and the tub drain was dirty. The space between the nightstand and the bed was dirty with crums and hair. There were gnats in the room. There were people outside the door from the room next door that were drinking and smoking outside so the very strong smoke smell came in the room several times throughout the night and our room smelled like cigarette smoke. When I informed the guy that checked us in about the strong smell he did call the room next door and asked them to smoke away from the building. I was very upset and wanted to leave because I was very dissatisfied and couldn't stand the smell but I would only receive 1/2 of what I paid even though I had only been there for 2 hrs at most. Since we were tired and couldn't find another room in town, we stayed the night and left before 7am without breakfast because of how disappointed and dissatisfied we were with our experience. If you're looking for an affordable clean place to stay, this is not the place. Spend the extra $20 to stay at a nicer and cleaner hotel.

Newly remodeled room including the bathroom. Something I haven't seen before were usb charging ports on the lamps and switches near bed. Lamps by bed had a reading light built in. Unusual touches that mean a lot. TV was oversize which was pretty cool. I do want to mention that the motel is under the glide path of one of the military facilities. It wasn't too noisy for me, but did bother my wife. I don't know if the back side of the building would help as that would be exposed to the jet exhaust. The back would be helpful in reducing noise from parked semis running in the extended parking lot to the front. Recommended.

I had told myself that I would stop going to 1-2 star hotels because of how nasty some of them have been. That was definitely not the case with this place. Although the exterior may not look updated, it is easily apparent they have put in work to remodel the inside of the room. I would hands down stay here again! Clean rooms, close to down town, and a great price. The only negative feedback I have is that it was really loud. But I can't blame the hotel for people's bad manners.

They are remodeling. It seems like an honest attempt is being made. At the time of my visit the beds were less than desirable. Just work/party hard and you'll sleep fine.

This place was great. Good service, 15 mins from downtown, clean and quiet. We will stay here again if we vacation in charelston again.

From the start when I booked this hotel for this trip I read the reviews and saw that there were not any of bed bugs. When we arrived on Thursday night we checked the room for bed bugs. We woke up at 5 AM on Friday morning with 8 bed bugs crawling in the beds! Talk about mad. Needless to say, we left and got our money back, which wasn't easy. It took me a week to get my money back for the night we did stay, the manager continued to put it off until my dad had to step in and call him. The next day we noticed that w had been bitten by the bed bugs, which would have been Saturday. We left on Sunday and still had the bites but they just looked like pimple bumps. On Wednesday when I woke up I noticed I had a rash on my wrist, fingers and hands. I also noticed a few bumps on my ankles. I didn't think anything of it and went on into work. Then I began to itch. So, I called my doctor and they wanted to see me. I had to leave work early that day to do this. Well, guess what? The bed bug rash was spreading! Sometimes when the bed bugs bite you and suck your blood, they cause an infection in your blood stream which causes it to spread. My doctor was so glad I came in because I had to get a special cream for the rash. She said most people don't realize what they are because they start out looking like just an ordinary bump. I was very unhappy with all of this happening. The guy was very rude and basically came off like I was a lier. I will NEVER stay here again!

Location is ok, rooms are brand new and renovated, which is nice. Kind of noisey at night.

Is a great place to stay. Updated with very nice amenities. One of the cleanest places I've ever stayed. You can tell the very helpful staff take pride in their hotel.

Location was very convenient to shopping restaurants and attractions. The staff was courteous and the room was clean. Service was good.

Loud planes, slippery floors, INCREDIBLY OVER ZEALOUS HOUSEKEEPING AT 7 am on a Saturday. Handicap shower is a deathtrap. Floor is sloped and sick as ice. A bruised hip is only a splash away.

Infinitely better than the Hendersonville, NC location. Kind staff, courteous check in/check out, convenient location, greet price.

It was clean & comfortable.

I've stayed at two different Econo Lodges in the past couple of days. The first was Little Creek in Norfolk, VA. It was ok. The top cover on the bed had some spots so I just pulled it off. The bed creaked a lot on the sides, and they didn't change the sheets when they made the bed (I could tell bc of my hair, I didn't mind but figured people should know in case that's a problem for them). Breakfast is skimpy but that's to be expected. And even though it was a nonsmoking room, the ventillation in the bathroom must connect to a smokers room because it periodically stank (This is my only real complaint). And in the night it was a little sketchy. But… the staff was super friendly and helpful, the bed was comfy, the room was generally clean and quiet, and it's right across from a highly rated restaurant (Groovy something or other). For about $60 a night, not bad at all. The second Econo Lodge is on Saul White Road in North Charleston, SC. It's much nicer. The area is all hotels and outlet stores and restaurants (some of which deliver) so it feels safer, and it's right next to the highway which is good for us tourists. The bed cover is softer, seems cleaner, the bed doesn't squeak all the time, and the mattress is softer. The water pressure is hiiiiiiiigh (good for some, bad for me *especially* after the sunburn) but thankfully both Econo Lodges had really wide and deep tubs which is cool.

The maid we had could barely speak english, and tried everything in her power to let her in. She even called the front desk to let her get in. When we finally let her in she decided that she would vacuum while we watched TV.

I had to give the place three stars for the effort of the hostess. The manager was less accommodating. Refrigerator did not work and the pillows and bedspreads had not been cleaned. The room had been recently updated but the old TV reminds you that you are in a budget inn. There are many hotels in the area, it is always good to read the reviews I think they can be extremely helpful.

Night Receptionist was extremely nice and helpful. For $105 a night, I can't complain. Room was clean, no weird smells and the bed was even comfy-had everything I needed. And conveniently in the same parking lot as the awful waffle ;)

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Semi-updated room was extremely clean — not so much as a finger print in sight. The popcorn-finished walls were the only thing not updated and the carpets while new, felt a little sticky under foot, presumably from a recent cleaning. Otherwise, the room was surprisingly nice and a great value.

We stayed at this location during X Factor auditions. The hotel reception was friendly and accommodating. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were recently renovated and very clean. The room smelled good, which made a great first impression. The sheets were not the softest, but all the bedding was clean. There was a little bit of road noise from the nearby highway, but it wasn't bad. The housekeeping staff neglected to replace the toiletries, but I am sure we could have gotten them from the front desk if we had asked. I was unhappy when housekeeping came knocking on the door at 9 am on the day of checkout. I never had anyone bother me before checkout before, and we were planning to sleep until 10. But overall, it was a great stay for the price.
