Reviews of Motel 6-Missoula, MT - University 2*
Simple, they don't charge extra for dogs. Clean and inexpensive, just what the road traveler needs. Beds here are comfortable. Please keep the no frills, clean, comfortable as well as friendly rooms and service. We only use motel 6. Always can find one.
Cheap and well located off the interstate.
I strongly recommend NOT staying at the Motel 6 in Missoula on East Broadway and Madison St. (the one that offers "studio" rooms).
This motel does not clean and maintain their rooms and facility. Disgusting.
~There is another Motel 6 to the east of this one… and I have never stayed there and have no opinion. The one I am referring to the is near the Verizon store. It doesn't even show up on Motel 6 website!
There was no toilet paper in the room. The buttons on the ac unit were broken. I had to use tweezers to turn on the unit. There was 1 light that worked in the room. Other than that it was fine.
Room was filthy. Fruit flies everywhere. Hair in the tub. Stained linens. One towel. No toiletries. One large cockroach discovered crawling on our cooler. Bed was super uncomfortable. Location was good.
Don’t leave the light on for me next time Bob Bodette. 137.00 and don’t offer breakfast. Price gouging much?
Hotel is exactly what you expect for the price you pay. It served its purpose of a place to sleep. It had nice remodeled sink and laminate floors. Wasn't bad. The front desk was left alone a lot. Had a hard time getting someone to come to the desk when I needed them. I called the front desk multiple times before I walked to the front desk and it always had the busy tone but there wasn't even a person at the desk. Had to request towels multiple times before anyone actually gave us an extra one.
When we arrived to check in I verified my card worked then we left and returned later in the evening. There were no towels in the room when we returned. When I attempted to call the front desk the phone in the room didn't work so I had to find the number and call to get them delivered which was about a 15 minute wait. The outside card reader on the nearest door didn't work so we had to walk to the far entrance and back across to our room which was literally the first one on that side with the broken reader. The soap was of the poorest quality I've ever used, it would not wash off with the limited water pressure in the shower and my hands felt like they were melting from the extreme base level of the soap. I used shampoo after the first shower. The soap also dried out and the next day when it fell off the soap holder it shattered into 10 or more pieces. The towels were basically see through once wet. The shower head was also set at about 5 1/2' which always sucks for a tall guy. The beds were not made which didn't really bother me but they never refreshed the towels or took out the trash. The TV was set up poorly and there were boarders all around the picture shrinking the already small screen size by another 4" The rooms had been recently renovated and had some engineered floor product that was clean and they didn't stink.
There was an open bag of trash sitting outside the door to my hall and it stayed there the entire visit. The room was gross. The bathroom was gross. The sheets and blankets were stained with urine and the towels were stained. Dirt and dust and hair all over the place. They bill it as new, but it is really old and gross. They can say its a new motel6 only because they took it over from someone else. Someone needs to learn how to clean. Apparently all the keys open all the rooms as another guest tried to enter my room (and succeeded) with their key card. The police paid a visit while I was there and it involved at least one of the people from the office. A lot of shady characters hanging around. I tried to switch my room or get a refund but no one was in the office. A sign on the front door told me to use the night window around the side. The sign on the night window told me to call a number if no one responded to the buzzer at the window. And calling the number on the sign got me nowhere as no one ever picked up. Also there are trains right out back. Other reviewers said they could not hear them but those reviewers must be at least partially deaf as they insured a complete lack of sleep. And I stepped in dog poop on my way to the car to leave. This is not somewhere you want to stay. I should of kept driving.
The room appeared to be in process of remodel. No baseboards, walls were beat up with dings, very dirty. Ceiling tiles in bathroom were warped, falling down. Paint on walls was ugly turquoise halfway slopped on. Hot water faucet in tub couldn’t be used, so tight no way did it budge. The sink was not draining in a normal way. Dirty entrance door, ill-fitting. The sheets were fine on the bed, but the faded worn blanket had holes in it, the bedspread old, faded, and grossly stained. The thermostat was locked so I couldn’t adjust it. This room should NEVER be used in this condition. I only stayed because every hotel room in Missoula was booked, I was desperate. If I knew it was in that gross condition before driving all the way from Boise, ID NO WAY would it be acceptable!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE Very run down and messy rooms. There wasn't any towels. The office person had no idea where the ice machines were. The key card system was down and it took quite awhile to get into the room. The toilet seat was broken. Spend a bit more and get a nice room at a different place.
Just did not stand up to motel 6 I am used to.
The bed was comfortable but the room was just ok. The check in was ok, but it was the third Motel 6 we drove to find our room. After a web search while on the road, I found the room/amenities we were looking for. Unfortunately, the problem was when I went to the second Motel 6 to check in. Two of the Motel 6's were only 2 blocks apart so it surprised me when I tried to check in to the wrong one and I got an attitude from the clerk. All I can say is I recognized that I erred on the first site, but it shouldn't have been a surprise to the clerk that I went to the wrong one when the two were so close together. (esp after a long day of driving and in the late evening). Although the front desk clerk where we stayed was a little confused, it was okay. The one at the other site was rude. He chatted friendly enough with the person ahead of me about disabilities, etc. But I didn't expect his comments/tone. I've worked customer service for years so I understand good days/bad ones, personal stories, etc. He was giving his story to the person ahead of me but I just don't know that the clerk understood how he acted towards me and the impacts. The clerk at the final Motel 6 did fine. It was a bit disjointed as they couldn't print receipts for those who needed them and it seemed disorganized, but okay.
For the price, it was a good option. Typically, Motel 6 is "spartan" meaning bare minimum — — no shampoo, no breakfast, nothing fancy — — which is just what we needed for this quick stay. This location in Missoula was exceptionally clean and good mattresses on the bed, and the desk clerk was very efficient and friendly.
This is by far the worst room I have ever stayed in! Credit card would not read 2 of my credit card? Had to pay cash? Got the room 205 went 5 guys for a burger and to my amazement my card worked? Ac only stayed on for 5 min. Ask the office guy about it, he said he would ask manager, 20 min later I ask again he said he would ask again, 15 min later I ask again he came up pushed buttons said I don't know how these work he will ask again, then in quits working all together. Ask again he said can't move you you have been there to long? and we have no rooms I said do you have a fan, he finds a fan that looks like it's from the dump! The room was the worst a bed, night stands and some kind of table 2 ft tall? Bath tub dirty, walls were dirty, managers dog outside with him barking around 1:00am. I know it's a discounted room on the Internet but that was un believable. Never again and I'll be telling everyone about your 2 motel 6s and all others going forward. You should check your room unless you don't care and it's all about he money.
We reserved a non-smoking room with 2 queen beds for May 17. When we arrived, we discovered that our room had been given to rugby fans/team-members, and we were told that we would be placed in the "studio" rooms instead. The studio turned out to be a smoking-friendly extended stay room with MANY problems, not the least of which was the single queen bed that reeked of cigarette smoke. Other issues included a toilet that wouldn't flush without first removing the tank lid, and a refrigerator that came on VERY loudly at regular intervals. We also found crushed corn-chips in the bed when we turned the covers back. We were too tired from a very long drive to deal with the management who obviously valued the sports people over us, so we stayed in the room, and then left as early as we could.
While check in and booking were easy, and the customer service we received was prompt and kind, the cleanliness and quality of the room was very much lacking. We had to request new pillow cases because ours were covered in dog hair. The room smelled of cigarettes, there was no obvious way to call the front desk from the phone, and we decided not to shower as it also looked dirty. There was also not one piece of art or decoration so the room echoed. It was disappointing because the pictures made it seem so updated and cute, but it was nothing more than a cheaply redone motel 6.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Motel 6 University in Missoula. We only stay at Motel 6 is since we discovered our pets stay for free and we love the fact that all Motel 6 is have been updated to look exactly the same. When you're on the road it is homier to know what the decor is going to look like when you open the door. We have found Motel 6 to be far superior to a lot of other motels. We love the fact there is no carpet. We have stayed in 11 in the last 5 weeks. We have always found the front desk people friendly and inviting in the rooms clean and comfortable.
We stay at Motel 6 because it is pet friendly. This motel 6 was very dated, the bed mattress were not great, the night clerk walked around smoking and we had to close our window to keep the smell out. The rate we paid was more than it was when we reserved online and the daytime clerk said he could not change it or we would have to pay even more, almost double as motel 6 seems to now have weekend rates. Some weekend rates are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The Motel 6 in Beaver charged more and said their weekend rates were Thursday to Saturday night. Will plan our trips from now on Monday to Wednesday.
My boyfriend and I had to stay in one of the motel 6's that are in Missoula, Montana and that was the worst experience we have ever had the tub was full of hair, the heat didnt work, the room was practically empty, and the service was terrible there is no way I will ever stay at another motel 6 again.
They say it a clean place. But apond looking at my bed there was stains on my sheets and couldn't sleep very well because I keep thing something was crawling in my bed. I would not stay there again…
My trip to MT, so far, has had its share of hiccups. However, things are looking up. Because you do not have 24 hr front desk coverage… at approximately 8pm upon returning to my prepaid room on 4/16/18; my key was inactive & I had to sleep in my car. I have stayed with Motel 6 throughout my trip & trust you will refund at least 1/2 of the room charge to my credit card. I look forward to hearing back from you. Sincerely, Michael Rasmussen (702) 283-2601
The property is a bit dated, and the room smelled old and musty. Wished I hadn't looked under the pillowcase at the drool stained pillows! Anyway, the guy at the front desk was extremely helpful and professional, the room was quiet, the heat and hot water worked, and it was within walking distance of the University and numerous restaurants.
I appreciated the location because it was close to Campus where my even was held. Also, wasn't difficult to navigate to other areas of town from here. The staff was very kind and well-mannered. The room was spacious for the cost, and very simple in a nice way. I liked that the floors were "wood", instead of carpet. I also thought it was very neat to have hook-ups for HDMI and such underneath the TV in a convenient spot with a table right below. The bed and pillows were comfy, but I didn't like the way one pillowcase was tinted yellow-ish. There was also the smell of cigarette smoke in our room once or twice, even though no one was smoking outside my door or windows. But I understand others may have been breaking the rule of smoking in the room and it ventilated into mine or something. I also didn't mind that there was not a microwave, fridge, or c. Breakfast, because these are things we didn't need, so wouldn't want reflect in our price. It was an overall great stay! And was great for our comfort and budget.
Great location. I don’t have allergies but the room made me very itchy and sneezy. Staff is amazing and very helpful.
The rooms are always clean and comfortable. The location is great for seeing music at the Wilma with just a short walk to the venue. I am not saying this is a 4 Star fancy Hotel but for $70 It was Very Good.
The staff at this location is awesome! Kudos to Jeff and Chris for their extra effort. I hope ownership and management appreciates these guys.
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I paid 85$ for the room the system was down so they had to take my card info and bring it to a different location to charge it. My room is super dirty, smells like smoke and I'm allergic to cats If I'm in the room my eyes start to Swell shut. The room needs work done the plugs don't have covers the cord for the light is on the floor. There is a portable heater in my room that is old and I'm scared to turn on. There is trash all over the parking lot. This is just an over all bad hotel.
The one thing I do not like with a passion is the taking an image of my driver's license and keeping it in your database. You do not have my permission to keep this information on file. I should be able to opt out of this. There is no good reason for doing this. I love my stay otherwise! Sherry.
The room we stayed in was not acceptable. It was in no condition to be rented. I realize that the property was was being remodeled but that room should not have been rented. There were face plates missing from electrical sockets, the sink drain was disconnected so that water would not drain, only one light was functional. The bedside lights were unplugged and the cord would not reach any electrical socket. The room had been freshly painted but there was still masking tape over the hinges, door jamb plate, etc. No chair to sit on, only the beds. The toilet was one foot off the ground, like it was made for a preschool or something. Very strange!
If you're just looking for a bed to sleep on and not much else, this place is for you. Wi-Fi was weak, no breakfast, TV is just standard definition. Non-smoking room had a hint of smoke smell, though we suspect that that might have been getting circulated though by the wall-mounted heating/AC unit. Hard floors, no carpet. A rug behind the door would have been nice, especially in the middle of winter with the door opening right out to the parking lot. It was hard to get a hold of anyone at the front desk consistently and you have to request a hair dryer. All that being said, we slept fine, we were warm, and we felt safe during our stay.
I have stayed at this location a few times and I always love it! The staff are super friendly and the rooms are great. Very clean and up to date. Perfect location if you plan on spending time downtown.
My husband and I have stayed with Motel 6 in the past and not had any issues, but must say this was worst experience staying at a Motel 6 or any motel. Heating unit outside missing front facing in the room the unit went from warm — ac, beds were beyond uncomfortable, felt and looked like was old box springs. The safety latch don't do a lot of good when door molding is not attached to wall. Bathroom door would not stay shut in unlocked or locked mod, no threshold between the bathroom and main flooring. Top outlet by table would not work only bottom outlet, light over table did not work. The base to kitchen cupboard middle support was broken they repaired it by nailing a board to the left door. The mini fridge would not keep drinks cold, this was caused by molding that was put around the opening where fridg was placed and wouldn't allow door to completely shut unless fridge was tipped back. Two adults 2 night stay and 2 washcloths and 4 towels if this is now the policy as I was told this needs changed. The note hanging on wall stated if hairdryer, iron and iron board was needed go to front desk they were limited as to what they are allowed to put in rooms due to being a independently owned Motel 6. I feel that spending $100 per night for a room myself and any other guest should be able to sleep on a bed without needing to see their chiropractor and not freezing. I filled out the card asking how our stay was and put all this down.
We did not have an enjoyable stay this particular time (have stayed once before). We were in room 209, on a corner where loud rude people congregated to smoke. Called front desk sometime after midnight to ask them to handle it, which was handled promptly. Room was dingy/dark (bad lighting) Towels had not been changed, one hanging at the sink was actually dirty. Staff seemed empathetic to my concerns. Enjoyed free stay for dog, and nice path to walk on behind the property.
The gentleman at the front desk was very nice and very professional but unfortunately for him he works in a hotel that is absolutely disgusting and I don't understand why the other people reviewing this hotel are giving it two or three stars after they talk about the exorbitant amount of dust or foreign hairs that they find in their bed! In my mind that is 0 out of 5 stars but unfortunately I have to give them at least one to even post this review. This place is absolutely disgusting nowhere near fit for you to stay should you have children and if you are at all intimidated by the criminal element here in Missoula you're going to be very disheartened when you see that it is Alive and Well in the parking lot of Motel 6 "university" … and there are other location in here in town is actually right next door to where I am staying because I was not going to stay in that hotel. But the other location although it looks much cleaner and nicer and newer is about 25 minutes from anything in town… the hotel that I'm sitting in right now and the other Motel 6 have about the two most inconvenient Hotel locations you can have in Missoula. If you're not going to be near the airport then go ahead and be in town.
My husband and I had to come to Missoula for business. When I booked the room online, I was given the option of smoking or not. I chose smoking but when we checked in we discovered there were none. That's alright we can smoke outside… no big deal. The next day we took care of our business then headed home. A few days later I checked our account and found a $100 charge from the motel. Long story short they said there were ashes in the room. So I called corporate and when they called the location it was ashes AND the "overwhelming" smell of smoke. We knew the rules and DID NOT smoke in our room. Stay away from both Motel 6 locations on Broadway. Damage is tangible not just a smell. They are just THIEVES!
Staying at Motel Six on Broadway has always been a good choice for us. The bed was nice. The room was simple. The arm of the chair was damaged but still comfortable. There was limited toilet paper. Needed more towels and wash cloths. Over all though it was a good room that was quiet, warm, and staff was very nice and accommodating for us. Thank you to the front desk staff and their courtesy. We will definitely be back to stay for the upcoming week.
Stayed overnight on 10/11/17. Front desk service was nice. Plenty of food establishments in the area to choose from. Room was clean and was fairly quiet overnight. Only downside is motel being too close to a major busy intersection. Makes it difficult to get in or out of motel parking lot.
The room was comfortable, quiet and relaxing. The location was great for walking to restaurants and groceries. The bed was comfortable and supportive as I slept very sound and woke up well rested. Thank you Motel 6 for a comfortable stay.
Everything was fine except when I pulled the covers back to get into bed to find several black hairs on the sheets. My hair is very short and red. I slept on the bed in a sleeping bag I carry on my motorcycle. Other than that the room was clean and comfortable and everything worked as expected.
At first everything looked great but then we pulled the covers back from the bed and found dog hair all over the sheets and blankets. We also noticed something gross on the curtains. We will most likely not stay here again. Also the heater ran all night long keeping us awake and we couldn’t turn it up or down because the buttons were missing.
Office guys were nice Booking online went smoothly except that I accidentally went to the Motel 6 half a block down the street first — — the host there said that happened all the time — perhaps there could be a better way to differentiate them online. Room was clean but was unpleasant due to bad lighting, noisy appliances, and ugly flooring Location was convenient to I-90 and the University but not pretty AC/fan was super loud-I tried lowering the fan speed but it still kept me awake Hated the lighting Refrigerator buzzed noisily too — I unplugged it Not a fan of cheap laminate instead of carpet but I guess it makes sense if you allow pets Frankly I didn't think it was worth $75 but I don't travel much. Maybe that is a bargain these days. Online there were a lot rooms available for the same cost at other places (but they too had low ratings) The one bonus about this place is that they are cool about pets — I didn't have mine with me, but if I had I would have probably put up with the other stuff better.
The hotel covered the basics. The outside is clearly aged and could definitely have used some maintenance and upgrade. The room was clean as the pergo floors helped. The lighting was dim, almost dark — brighter lights / more lights would have been better and the furnishings and decoration were minimal at best. This left the room feeling cold and barren. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly though (at check-in). If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay that simply meets basic needs, this will be a good fit. If you want something more homey, I would suggest you look somewhere else.
So im coming from out of town for work until I was able to find a place, my first night I got a call from the office saying my pets walking was too noicy and the guy below didnt like the noise (mind you its 3pm) then a few days go by, and no one came to change our bedding or bring fresh towls. So we had to call down, the office told us to change them ourself and he would get them for us. Then gentleman, knocked on my door to tell me I had to change rooms, because apparently my walking and breathing was disturbing the gentleman downstairs, but the guy next door fighting with his gf was not. But because he has been there for awhile, he wanted us moved, if we planned to stay longer in this motel. The gentelman then entered our room (without us knowing) and called to tell me I couldnt leave my dogs (in a pet friendly motel, which my dogs dont bark, unless they feel threatened) so im suppose to take my dogs to work with me. Lets not forget to include the day of check in this same gentleman was rude, and didnt want to give me my reservation, said my online comformation was wrong, and I was a liar. Until I pulled up my credit card confirmation, he was very rude. And continued to be so. My family has stayed at motel 6, bcuz of their studios. Everytime we travel. But after this experience, we will never stay again! Im ashamed for whoever does the hiring.
Check in was quick & easy, the man behind the desk was very friendly and chatty. Rooms and beds were clean overall except for an amount of exorbitant dust everywhere from the floors to the bedside tables. Good cable selection and super comfy beds. Parking lot is small but very well appointed, so you don't walk a mile going to and from your room. Fast food establishments within walking distance. Excellent price for the area. My only complaint is that we were told there was a continental breakfast and in the morning there was only coffee and tea. Will definitely stay again.
The rooms were very clean I was very impressed for a motel 6 to look as fantastic as they did very pleased with housekeepers cleaning. All the staff was very respectful and helpful made sure my stay was the best it could be. It's right in the middle of all shopping and trails great location simple and easy! Out of everything I give it a good 10! Thank you to the staff at motel 6 for doing an awesome job!
It's been a long time since I stayed at a Motel 6, and was very surprised at how modern our room was. We were tired after a long day of traveling, and when we opened the door we just said "Wow, this is awesome! ". Hardwood-style floors, modern decor, a mini-fridge, great amenities — it was perfect. The manager and hospitality staff were really friendly.
It's my time dog not like my but.
Cleaner than I expected. This is a very decent renovated Motel 6. The clerk was friendly late at night when I arrived. Remember it's still a Motel 6, and you get what you pay for. The beds are hard and the towels are rough. My room didn't have a clock, but I did get shampoo, which is unusual.
This wasn't a bad place to spend the night. There are some obvious efforts to improve this hotel but still a few issues. Pros: "wood" room floors, TV, furniture are solid. Bed was good. Cons: the age of the building is apparent. We had a second story room and the concrete walkway sags and creaks a bit. Bathroom door in the room sticks. Water pressure wasn't phenomenal. Also, there was a strange lack of items (like an iron and ironing board) and a placard in the room said that they are limited in the amenities that can be placed in the rooms but these items are available at the front desk.
The people who work here treated me like family. I felt really comfortable.
Very nice job of remodeling going on. Still need a bit more, but they're really getting there. Also, some of the friendliest staff… heard they have new folks since Motel 6 being bought out by the Hilton. Clean, very decent for a low price nights stay. Good coffee.
This is the best motel 6 I have ever stayed at. Very nice, very clean and the staff was the most friendly and helpful motel 6 staff I have ever come across.
Cheap and close to the UM campus. Room was sparse but very clean. Kinda noisey outside late into the night, as could be expected from a cheaper hotel. In a safe area close to lots of restaurants and grocery stores. Bring conditioner.
I called at 10pm and arrived at 2 am. Super friendly staff and quick service. This place must have gone under a renovation because everything looks quite new. Rooms were very clean and always a bonus when pets stay free. Not too shady of a place and there was even grass nearby :) Great coffee place nearby called the Catalyst.
Although fairly plain with uncarpeted floors I doubt you could find a better place in Missoula. It was clean and well maintained. The manager went well out of his way to make things right when our reservation information came up wrong. We were early but he and his staff made short work of getting the room ready for us. What could be better than that.
We stayed for two nights as the hotel was dog friendly. The room was modern and clean with a flat screen tv. Keep in mind that the rooms do not have alarm clocks nor hair dryers. My husband and I had a nice stay. However if our room would have been on the other end of the hotel, it would be a different story. There was a group of kids renting a room and spent until 4am outside their room smoking/drinking, etc. I went to walk my dog at 3:30am and they were extremely loud. Front desk were very helpful and even have dog treats. Very close to downtown and restaurants.
Clean but a little scary looking. The adjoining extended stay area is pretty seedy looking. But the regular rooms have a separate parking lot and the staff was very helpful. We found a clean room — and it's the new modern-style Motel 6 decor. No nasty carpet.
Such a nice experience! The room is large, roomy, with a good-sized "nook" for the bathroom sink with shelves, toilet and tub/shower tucked into yet a further room. All very clean and pleasant. Good water pressure for the shower. The bed was super comfortable. The location is great, right near the university campus.
Best Motel 6 EVER. The rooms are very modern and clean. The beds are super comfortable. Rates are excellent. Staff is informative and very helpful. Only a few drawbacks: — no continental breakfast, only coffee — it's easy to miss the sign, and it's nestled back in between other things so it's somewhat difficult to find unless you know exactly where you're going — hair dryers were not available in the room, but could be checked out — the free Wi-Fi was very shoddy. Extremely slow.
