Found out the hotel will be closing soon for a multi-million dollar renovation. That's good because this hotel needs it! The people were friendly and helpful, but the decor was very dated and nothing about the place was fresh.

This place has very large rooms. We were supposed to stay in another hotel that night but they were overbooked and did not have enough housekeeping staff to clean all the rooms they needed. They sent us to this Holiday Inn and it was right downtown in a beautiful area. We would definitely stay there again. They do not serve a free breakfast but they do have a restaurant on site and they do have room service. They do accept pets but they have a pet fee of $75. There is a parking garage attached to the hotel that charges $13.50 per night for parking.

I recently stayed at this hotel with my mother, who is a post surgery patient at Mayo Clinic and after delays at the airport, we were ready to check in and sleep before her early morning appointment. Upon arriving in the room, we found the following sub-standard conditions, which were disturbing because of her high risk of infection. We have stayed at several Holiday Inns and this was by far the worst experience. The handicap accessible shower had mold/stains as shown in the following pictures. The toilet was also stained. There were hand prints on the door frames, which indicated to me that it had not been cleaned in awhile. The shower faucet was held together with tape. The mouth wash provided had a broken seal and was unusable. The most disturbing part was the bed. The top blanket had some type of stains, possibly food, so I removed it. Upon removal, we found popcorn underneath; however, neither of us had eaten popcorn. We slept with just the flat sheet, hoping the actual sheets had been changed. In hindsight, we should have requested a different room, but after delays at the airport my mobility impaired mother only wanted to go to sleep to prepare for her early morning post surgery consult. I made the front desk aware of the conditions upon check out, but I was only provided with an email address to send in my complaint. I felt these issues needed to be escalated beyond a simple email, so I contacted Guest Relations via the IHG Rewards club.

Location is close to Civic center and walk to virtually any Mayo clinic hospital, rooms are clean and there is enough isolation as to not be bothered by noises in the city. Front desk is very accommodating and friendly.

Convenient location and great staff. Clean rooms. My only complaint is that there are no outlets on the nightstand! This isn't the 1990's. Guests expect outlets on or near the nightstand in order to charge our phones.

Hotels nice. Breakfast was horrible. Paid 30.00 and barely ate because was cold and nasty. Def all came out a box. Very bland. You would think the price this hotel n price of breakfast it would be a nice breakfast.

Great location. The rooms are a little old but decent. The bathrooms are quite cramped.

Stayed here several times every year and always have problems. This year they booked the reservation incorrectly and cancelled it as a no show. Front desk agent tried to tell us we got ripped off and it wasn't one of their reservations! I actually booked directly through their front desk and not the ihg line at my request. Finally the manager showed her how to run the computer and bring up the confirmation numbers from the IHG emails I was showing her! After all that she told us we would be billed for the no show. After making a big deal about it they finally agreed to reverse the charges but then said she didn't know how to do that, but offered to check us in. Very firmly told her we would not be checking in until they fixed their billing error and she was finally able to fix it (maybe? ). Anticipating a billing issue after check out which would not be the first time at this property. Staying here is a huge hassle! The only thing this place has going for it is the location. May stay elsewhere next visit. Edit: As suspected they did not credit me correctly for their no-show mistake so this property has overbilled me again. Now I need to call back and go through another big ordeal with them! Very poorly trained staff at this location. Will not stay here again.

Decent, no frills hotel in downtown Rochester. Price seemed good for weekend. Has made some updates along the way to fixtures and such, but some things showing age working within the existing structure. Kids enjoyed indoor pool. Decent space for parents to spread out next to pool with food and beverages. Free parking in ramp next to hotel. Free breakfast buffet. Food choice includes scrambled eggs, bacon (seemingly always empty), potatoes, french toast, fruit, yogurt and pastries. Service struggled to keep up with patrons (e. G. Greeting, seating, clearing tables). Front desk was always helpful. Overall if looking for standard hotel with reasonable pricing in downtown Rochester, it is a solid choice. Great with kids and allows dogs. If you are used to fancier or more updated accommodations, shop around.

Not one to usually write reviews but here it goes. Check-in was an issue, we were not told that we had to have the credit card physically present, first room they put us in had not been serviced ie. Bed was not made, towels on sink and floor. This was at 10pm. Next day housekeeping came and knocked twice before 11am, the second time the privacy card was on the outside of the door. The last day I called down to the front desk 6 times before 10am to request a 1 hour extension for checkout, not once was the phone answered. Was here with a 1 year old who was watching cartoons at 11 and they cut off the TV. At 11:10 got a knock on the door and told to leave the room. I told them of the issue with no one answering the front desk phone, was given a roll of the eyes. The temperature in the room never dropped below 74 degrees, I understand that it is tough to cool rooms that are connected to the pool but at least fans in the rooms would be nice. All in all to expensive since it is outdated. On the plus side had a great experience at the restaurant!

This is our third time staying at the Holiday Inn in downtown Rochester the rooms are nice good hot water the staff upfront were extremely helpful and the restaurant has pretty good food little high-priced but it is good. The parking was nice as well considering the cold this time of year it was nice to be able to park not far from any one of the doors.

Service was poor rooms we're not cleaned I needed to ask for supplies towels amenities. Two of us were Mayo Clinic patients needing assistance with bags there was never a Bellman to help. On top of it I was in the lobby due to the fact that I could not sleep from being ill and had been in the hospital for 14 days. I was working on some things on my tablet and watching TV and the front desk decided to call law enforcement assuming I was not a guest staying at the hotel. Law enforcement then talked to me asked for my ID and room key and then talked to the front desk and it then was proven I was a paying guest of many days! Staying at the hotel they (law enforcement) apologized and then left. Front desk staff could have simply just talk to me instead of interrupting law enforcement's time knowing they had other things better to do with their time. Keep in mind the front desk was literally within 4 feet of where I was in the sitting area watching news working on my tablet. Very disgusted with front desk staff on February 8th, 2018 when this occurred. Rachel was the only front desk staff member that was decent and respectful. Other than that seems that there should be a lot of training and communication that is very much needed also they seem to be short short-staffed.

Very much your typical holiday inn. Rooms were very warm, we opened up our window for the night with temps of — 10 outside because the room was 75 and kept going up with the heat turned off. Conveniently located within walking distance of lots of things.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Rochester South before I flew back to Chicago. On Thursday evening, February 28, 1974, I entered the Lufthansa machine in Frankfurt. And then this happened, which happened to me two years earlier (September 1972) on the flight home with the Lufthansa machine from Buenos Aires to Germany: Already on entering the plane (after almost six months in Argentina) I felt again as in my German homeland.

Fantastic customer service! All staff members were extremely helpful and enabled me to get my work done while at the hotel. Comfy bed and good night sleep.

Room was fine and clean. Not as updated as other hotels but for the purpose of my stay, it served the purpose. Location was nice as we were in town for an event at the Civic center and could walk through the skyways.

The hotel rooms, common areas, and pool was clean. The room was very hot upon arrival. The room faced the garage, which was lit all night. There were thin, full-size curtains that didn't block the light at all, and otherwise only a thin strip of decorative curtain on each window. There was nothing at all to shield the room from the garage light so the room was essentially lit all night long. The bathroom was also not equipped with a fan. Not a terrible place to spend a night but certainly won't be my first choice if I return.

This hotel has very poor security. I would not recommend staying here. I went to the front desk to get an extra key for our room and was given one without being asked for my ID or even my name. Anyone could walk up to the desk and get a key for some else's room. This is very scary! I told the front desk staff about my concern and she didn't seem to understand what was wrong with her actions. My husband went back to the desk later because our keys got deactivated. The same person reactivated the keys for the room number he told her without asking for a name or ID again! My children were afraid to be in the room after that without the security bar closed.

Nice full-service hotel, with restaurant and bar. Connected to the skywalk for easy access to hospital, shopping, restaurants. Comfortable rooms, but a little small. Would be 4-star except for the intense vinegar odor in the hallway when they were cleaning.

Usually do not write reviews. The room was clean, service was ok, but they built a hotel next to a train yard. If waking up to train horns at 7am doesn't quite fit what you enjoy then probably want to stay somewhere a bit farther away. Also would recommend not putting rooms in between the staff room and elevator with paper thin walls so you hear the elevator all night and maids in the morning. Otherwise is fine.

Clean and comfy rooms, and the staff are amazing! Super friendly and helpful. Especially Dan, who is a server in the restaurant. He went above and beyond and made our experience memorable. Great location, too. Many bars and restaurants within walking distance. I'm so glad we stayed there!

First off, the room was great, spacious, clean, cool, and even had a Keurig machine! We didn't enjoy the staff. The three different members of the staff we spoke with at check in and other occasions seemed irritated to have to be bothered. They had an uppity attitude that we didn't appreciate. Having to pay $13.50 per day for parking was also a bummer. That's the same price the general public paid to use the same parking garage. Seemed like hotel guests could be given a break, but I guess not.

The Holiday Inn was only blocks from the convention center, where we were attending an event. The rooms were very clean, updated, and comfortable. The staff was amazing — they accommodated our special needs and were very professional. I highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be staying there for our next trip to the area!

Convenient to downtown. Front desk is upstairs off of Broadway. Nice bar and restaurant there. Pool is on that floor but no hot tub. Room was average. My husband thought bed was hard. Bathroom was very small. Barely enough room to turn around.

Fabulous place. Clean rooms. Delicious breakfast. No hot tub was a disappointment. Only thing that was alarming was a man with his 2 little girls "squatting" with their stuff in plastic garbage bags and stacked up by revolving door at street level. Then when I got off elevator on 3rd floor, was another older man with a backpack that may have been homeless wandering around. But our stay itself was fabulous other than those slightly unsettling things.

This is a warm and friendly hotel. It's in a safe and centrally located neighborhood. The staff is friendly and quick to help us in planning out the "must-see" near about places on our weekend. The rooms (we had two) were not huge, but not small … they were very clean, well-appointed and comfortable. The bathrooms, too, are clean. The rates were the best we could find, which made them a great value for a place of such good standards. Staff, accommodations, neighborhood, amenities… All flawless!

The location is perfect, and close to everything. There's so much to do within walking distance. As a business traveler I have seen lots of hotels. I typically stay in nice spots because the company pays for it. The hotel has clean, odor free rooms, fridge, and microwave, lots of plug-ins, excellent quality toiletries, and nice towels. The best of all; a very good bed and quality cotton sheets.

I can't say enough about my really good experience at this hotel. They went above and beyond to make us comfortable, provided maps and directions for all of the sites we wanted to see, and even gave great restaurant recommendations. Everyone we spoke to was so kind. The room was large and clean. If you're heading to Rochester, this place is definitely recommended to stay!

I like the bar they were very professional with that but when I went to go swimming in their good size pool there were so many kids I almost got hit by a ball that they were throwing and they were diving in the pool so I could say they could do better enforceing their roles so I just didn't swim went up to the nice comfy bed.

Dinner at thyme was OK. Had ribs that were over cooked so rather than falling off the bone I had to work pretty hard. Didn't complain at the time because I didn't have time to wait. The staff would have likely taken care of things, they were extremely courteous age friendly.

Location is great! Skywalk to mayo clinic and all kinds of restaurants. Very clean. Nice pool with sky lights. Staff is helpful and courteous. This is where I always stay when coming to Mayo!

My room is nice, big and has a good view. However, check-in begins at 4:00. I arrived at 4:30 on a Tuesday and was not able to get into my room until 5:15.

Very courteous staff, room was clean and comfortable, quiet also. Was a little leary at first because of the low cost special but turned out to be maintenance on the floor I was on. Did not even notice it once, very quiet. Will definitely stay here again.

730 am they ran out of coffee in the lobby didnt have any more in the hotel, rooms were very noisy, parking ramp non stop people yelling, turning up base on their radios all hours of the night and morning, hardly got 3 hours of sleep, room keys weren't working which heard many others same issues, parking ramp gate which we paid for extra vehicle parking wasn't opening on the south end was broke. For $800 dollars spent here this place is a buttered up crap hole. You can get better sleep, service and atleast free breakfast at motel 6, Would never stay here again.

Great rooms and environment. It happened to be a little chaoti when checking in, but the staff was friendly.

Room and price were great. The in lobby restaurant, Thyme, suffered from a bland, uninspired menu and truly awful service. If you stay here, skip it.

I loved my stay there my truck had broke down on New Year's Day and everyone was very nice to me from the truck shop owner who met me at his place to the tow truck driver who gave me a ride to the awesome staff at the hotel wonderful people of Rochester, MN.

Where do I start? Between my work, schooling, my wife's business and just in general I should be able to use the wireless Internet. The Wi-Fi signal is strong everywhere but the speed is so terrible that it won't even load the sign in page where you have to type the password in. We were told that theh had a sell out night and everyone must be using it and the Internet isn't fast enough. Next my wife goes to make some coffee in our room and there is a dried up coffee filter with coffee in it still in the coffee pot. We will not be staying here again. Ever.

Would've been higher, but the Wi-Fi will not work. That's an important part of a hotel stay for us with school work, work, and relaxation. Two different weeks here and bad Wi-Fi both times.

This is a review of the Holiday Inn located in downtown Rochester, MN. If you are looking for a decently priced hotel with all the amenities for the common traveler, this is the place. If you can find some free parking, I applaud you, everywhere in downtown rochester charges you. There is a parking garage connected to the hotel which is convenient, but it will cost you roughly 13 dollars a day. I stayed in a single queen room that had all the common appliances (hairdryer, iron, coffeemaker, ect. ) but that also included a microwave and a mini fridge. The room was a littler smaller than I expected but everything was there and functional. The room wasn't as noisy as I expected from other reviews, you slightly hear the occasional "ding" of the elevators and few maintenance sounds. One main drawback of the rooms is that the windows and screens need to be cleaned, it is hard to see what could be a nice view or downtown rochester. The Wi-Fi is okay, not too slow but nothing worth bragging about. The rooms look like they were recently renovated and painted, it is nice to see that Holiday Inn is interested in updating their older places. The staff are polite and curious, and do their best to accommodate their guests and make sure they are welcome during their stay. There is no complementary breakfast but since the hotel is cheaper to begin with this is excusable, they do offer room service and breakfast delivery. Overall, if the price is right, I would stay here again.

Over all I don't like doing this, but the negatives outweigh the positives by a mile. At check in we were told that they had to "upgrade" us to two queens, we said we wanted the king room we selected and paid for, then they told us they didn't have any. We are both really tall people and a queen just isn't comfortable. We asked why they switched the room without asking us and then selling our room, we got no real answer. Then we asked for the military discount to be applied, the gentleman said "yea we have one, but it's not worth it cause then we would just charge you for everything else. " I asked him to check and make sure, he didn't he just said no. So after getting the wrong room and not even having the time to check on a better rate, we got to the room. It was fine overall nothing to write home about, seemed clean at first. You could tell it had been a smoking room in the past as it had that stale smell to it. Then we noticed in the bathroom the floors were REALLY sticky and on the fan vent there dusk caked onto it and it clearly hadn't been cleaned in a VERY long time. Our room faced the parking ramp, so we heard people all night long, the curtains don't close all the way so we woke up at 630 from the sun and couldn't go back to sleep. We finally went down for breakfast around 8. It was nice looking and clean, only about 10 people in there. The service was about as poor as it gets. She was friendly but really seemed to struggle.

I called to get more information regarding the rates of the hotel because we have a more complicated stay situation. I was immediately placed on hold and after 5 minutes hung up. I then called the 888 Holiday Inn number and the lady spoke broken English and couldn't understand what I was asking. Finally after 10 minutes of trying to explain what I wanted she went to get a supervisor and I hung up. I can't rate the hotel but the customer service was horrible.

My room had a very large bedroom area, but a small, cramped bathroom. The renovation is fairly non-invasive, but the empty pool was a disappointment. The breakfast is non-descript.

My wife and I transferred over here from the Days Inn (hole) and had a wonderful stay. The bathroom was very clean. The room as a whole was very modern. AMAZING continental breakfast! Only negatives are a small bathroom and $10 parking.
