Overall nice. A bit pricey for the condition. Noisy outside from I assume the hostel next door. the major issue was at check out. The clerk called me " Sir". I have not been a sir for over 4 years. In a city that has a huge LGBT population this was uncalled for.

Worst hotel I’ve ever been in, bathroom sectioned off by a very unprofessional looking sliding door, refused to sleep I the bed, but both of us got bed bug bites and that was with our clothes on. Our room was supposed to been upgraded to a junior suite, we couldn’t wait to get out, breakfast consisted of a pastry on a paper plate and a coffee in a paper cup, this was laid out in a grotty looking room on a small coffee table meant for all of the hotel, this place Ida jokeand should be condemned or given to the the hundreds of down and outs living on the streets just around the corner,

Spacious rooms very clean. It is close to public transportations. The staff very friendly and helpful.

This is a lovely historic hotel. You will feel a part of history when staying here. The location is to die for and anything you could want is in walking distance. Some parts seem dated because of their integrity to maintain the character of the original building. Totally worth the experience.

Expensive more expensive, hotel history is relatively long, but the room is very large! Bed is also big, very soft, like soft bed can be selected! There is a kitchen where friends who love to cook can choose. There's a big bathroom! But flushing toilets is not very useful, it is more difficult to flush. It's quite close and convenient to the major attractions.

Charming old timey hotel. Comfy beds. Helpful staff. Cost per night is reasonable. Zero parking. No on-site dining.

If you’re asking for the total experience mine was not all that great. The staff was friendly and helpful enough. I had no problem with that. What I did have a problem with was the staff eating potato chips in the lobby during our Happy Hour. He even had his chips in hand while he restocked our wine choices. He continued to eat in the lobby while talking to the guy behind the counter who was also eating. To top it off was the tip jar right next the the bottles of wine. I think I would have to downgrade one star just for that. And, oh, by the way, we asked for a queen size bed and we got a double. We can tell the difference. # CantFoolUs.

The hotel seems old and tired, maybe we were unlucky with the room but it was like something from 1982. The TV didn't tune in to channels and was missing some backlight. The window blinds were broken and kept rolling up, one of the (very few) electrical sockets didn't work. The view was into a messy pit. The breakfast is a joke, plastic plates and cutlery with a croissant and pastry. Coffee in paper cups. A toaster, proper plates, cutlery and cups would go a long way. At check in the attendant was to busy to even acknowledge us, when we asked to borrow a pair of a scissors we were told that it wasn't possible (different attendant), and on check out we weren't even asked how our stay was. Woeful. I chose this hotel based on location, which was great, and other review scores. I am not doing that again.

The hotel is located 3 blocks from Union Square and another 3 blocks from a slightly conflicting neighborhood that recommend not to walk there. Actually the area is quite quiet and is well located to be able to visit the city and there is nothing to be afraid of being close to the other area. I was four days and I had no problem. The room is quite large and clean although the furniture is old. The room has a clothes-iron and hairdryer. The staff of the hotel are quite friendly.

This hotel is VERY bad. It is located at Tenderloin, the worst district of San Francisco. The neighborhood is not safe. The front desk is unprofessional, and the room is somewhat haunted. They say they offer breakfast, please find the enclosed photo to see what the claimed “breakfast” is-some muffins and fruit is NOT breakfast! The TV is in a weird closet and I could not find the remote in the room. I don’t know how they managed to get a high score on some booking website, but this hotel is so not worth it. High price, bad choice!

Rooms were fantastic if basic and staff really helpful, bed comfortable and good night's sleep. The windows are only single glazed so if you get a room facing a road it is quite noisy, especially as it's down the road from the fire station. Breakfast is ok but could do with more additions food wise pastries and fruit are your only choice, croissants also served but nothing to put on them and only tea and coffee are served drinks wise with no juice option.

I have stayed here nearly twice a year since July 2007. Nearly a dozen years later my opinion has remained consistent. WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL hotel! I advise anyone who visits the city with a desire to stay Downtown San Francisco to consider staying here. The staff is very kind. I have seen a few staff members for quite a few years now and they remember us. Who knew? The public and private areas are very clean. The Lobby is warm and charming. They serve muffins, croissants, tea, and coffee in the morning. I take this as an added bonus. It always helps get me started in the morning before I have my first full meal. There is cheese and crackers around happy hour (five o'clock). The rooms: Wow! The rooms are nothing short of amazing. While in the arrangement of a typical hotel room, most rooms have a separate kitchen and large bathroom. The chars and beds are large and comfortable. I love the 00 rooms (400, 500, 600, 700, and the top, 800). These are at the end of the building and my favorite. The location is also great. You are two minutes from Union Square, four or five blocks from the Powell Street BART Station, and at the bottom of Nob Hill for those who desire to run up it in the morning… I've done that a few times. Stay at Hotel Beresford Arms! Your stay in San Francisco will simply be enhanced!

Great place, unique charm with friendly staff and very convenient location!

Excellent hotel in a very good location. The beds are very comfortable, the cleanliness of the room excellent. We did a room upgrade by that if and for the same price we had paid for a double room. They have complimentary breakfast and in the afternoon they serve wine and cheese. The only cons is that the heating didn't work very well, and it was a little chilly.

Location 9 points, hotel 5 points, an important detail for Argentinians is that the bathroom has bide, very rare thing in USA, very basic breakfast, good wine tasting at 5 pm with lots of snacks, in counseling no one speaks Spanish, towards cold and so there was no conditioner air shortage.

Good location in the pasciencia of the hotel and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Excellent valua, especially when compared with other hotel in town. The location is great if you want to explore the city or have meetings in town. The rooms look fine and are properly cleaned. Water pressure was really good, what made for a refreshing shower. The staff is a bit uninterested and not very helpful.

Good location and helpful staff. Continental breakfast in the morning and a Happy Hour in the later afternoon. It was interesting talking to all the guests… sharing tables in the lobby.
Juan (bellhop) was thoughtful and friendly. Yes, there isn't a/c in the hotel but two fans were in the room for our use. I would recommend this hotel especially for the price.

Excellent facilities and rooms. Poor and uncourteous attention of the front desk staff. The service was very expensive and the staff were very kind.

This is a nice hotel. It's located in the middle of the city. It's not easy to reach this place by car because they don't have a parking lot but it's easy to get there by taxi. The people are very friendly and gladly help you to find you're way around. They booked a taxi for us when we departed. Only the breakfast needs to be better. It's really small and it doesn't offer a lot of choices.

Avoid this hotel at all costs. The price was fine for what we got. However the service was rude at every turn, and lied to us. My fiance lost her key and when she got back they told her she couldn't get in because her name wasn't on the room. I called and they told me the room was only for one person, but when I went back to check I had set it for two people. We left our bags in the bag room when we checked out they only gave us one tag for four bags. When we went back to get the bags to head to the airport they told us that they needed 3 more tags. They wouldn't come up with any method for us to get our bags back, they simply said that they couldn't give them. We had to throw a fit to get them to allow us to tell them what was in the bag in the first place.

Nice hotel with a perfect location in San Francisco. The rooms and beds were clean, large and in good shape. The breakfast, however, was bad even for US standard. Only thin coffee and muffins.

Everything was great but the staff were not attentive and the breakfast had few food, almost pure cakes… a diabetic would not have to eat breakfast.

I really don't have any complaints about our recent stay at Beresford Arms Hotel. We found a parking garage right around the corner ($30/night), were allowed to check in a few hours early, and enjoyed our weekend getaway in SF. Our petite suite had more than enough room for the three of us and the little nook provided a neat place to people watch on the street below. Hotel staff was constantly friendly and the wine and cheese happy hour was cute. Breakfast was ok, nothing to write home about, but it's always nice to have hot coffee readily available.

Clean and not too expensive hotel at the very center of San Francisco. What I liked is the little pre-drinks you can have between 6 to 8pm with average wine and toasts. There are a lot of restaurants around it and you can easily access most of the city as it is central.

Well. Clean, good value for money to be close to downtown, a little poor breakfast.

Clean, close to Union Square and very reasonably priced. We will be back.

I haven't tried a more comfortable bed in my life. It's like sleeping in a cotton cloud. Good size rooms. The only one but it is the little variety at breakfast and few places to sit, being in rush hour a lottery find table.

Ornate and vintage, plenty of seating and sleeping space in the room for the location, free Continental breakfast, valet.

Nice large room. Good price. Breakfast wasnt anything special. People behind desk seemed disinterested.

Stayed here on 09/11/17, worst mistake ever! Luckily, I was only there for one night. Biggest rip off for a hotel. Mold in bathroom, $10 Walmart fans to cool the room, carpet was gross, smelled terrible, and staff wasn't great either. Okay location. That is about it but the staff was extremely rude and helpless. They were either playing on there phone or hacking up there lungs… probably from the mold. Not sure who manages this property but I will stick to only Marriott hotels. More money but you get what you pay for. Biggest waste of money, would of been better off, on the street. Must cater to foreigners would don't speak English and are accustomed to dumpy hotels. Went through Southwest for a hotel… HUGE mistake! Honestly, can't believe the reviews. Should be a 1 star hotel!

One of the most noisy hotels I have ever attended, the rooms are not soundproof. In addition to the ground there were nails that did not belong to me. Breakfast: ridiculous. To avoid at all costs.

I didn't have high expectations since the pictures didn't look too good — but was pleasantly surprised at how clean it all was. Highly recommend staying here! Near Union Square (less than 10 minutes by walking), and not too noisy.

So I didn't originally want to book a place that isn't such a big name like "Marriott". Well let me tell you now I was wrong… Way wrong. This place might not have a pool but the atmosphere is great. The rooms are fantastic. This place is in the heart of the city. I would highly recommend this hotel. Not a single complaint. Beresford Arms Hotel is the place to say here in "The City". — M.

I enjoyed my stay here and the Victorian styling of the building. The room was big wand the beds comfy. I found the breakfast just fine with free coffee and pastries. There was even a wine and cheese evening during our stay. Excellent location for the city as well. My only gripe is checkout was very slow and the staff were not overly cheery.

Fabulous staff they are very helpful. Great location. Free contental breakfast and Wi-Fi and a wonderful happy hour of cheese and wine. I will recommend this hotel to all.

Awesome nostalgic hotel, authentic antique furniture, older building but very clean and friendly. Wine and cheese hour in the arvo and great service staff, very helpful. It's like a trip back memory lane to the 1950-1960's. Well before my time, will recommend it to all my friends.

We couldn't have asked for better accommodations. This hotel is beautiful and centrally located. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved the complimentary wine and cheese hour and to be able to enjoy it in the gorgeous lobby made it even more enjoyable. First rate all around!

Old and rusty! The fume of cheap cleaning products almost choke me as soon as we open the door to the room. Sheets had a few holes and furniture is OLD and cheap. Would never stay here again.

We stayed at The Beresford Arms for six nights in mid November. We were fortunate to be assigned a suite at the back end so that the traffic noise was muted. The space with bird prints on the walls was huge and comfortable for the price we were paying. We had the option of changing linens every day or not. The bathroom was clean and provided a bidet as well as toilet. The cleaning service was excellent. The fittings were gold (new) and the older faucets were brass. There were two sinks which proved convenient since both my wife and I could clean up and dress without competition for mirror or sink. The two beds were comfortable although one was too soft. A full length mirror was provided. We did not use the television at any time and so were not bothered about lack of cable TV. We were on holiday and had voluntarily divorced all need of Wifi. We never found out if either was provided. The kitchen was very convenient — with a stove; refrigerator; little dining table; microwave; coffee machine; dishes and cutlery, and of course a sink. The hotel did not provide in-room coffee but we bought our own ground coffee and brewed it ourselves. Guests may bring up coffee from the foyer if they do not brew their own. We were very comfortable. There were some interesting touches in the foyer. The post Victorian gold trimmings and layout of the space there was accommodating. On the first day we attended the Tea session (4pm to 6pm I think) with complementary wine.

We LOVED this hotel! It felt like a home away from home. Unlike most hotels where you are stuck in a tiny little room with 2 small beds, a tv, a dresser and a bathroom, this one was so spacious and comfortable. We had the Parlor Suite, which cost less then the typical hotel room at any other nearby quality hotel chain. It had a large, spacious master bedroom with 2 queen beds, then a family room with a queen murphy bed, an eating area, a separate kitchen and a large bathroom with a fantastic jetted tub. I have 4 kids and they were in heaven at this place. I feel like we were pampered and I didn't have to pay an arm and a leg. Before we went I was sure to read all the reviews. There were a lot of people commenting about the out of date decor but I didn't think it was that bad. There was some pealing wall paper in the bathroom, and the floor was still laminate, but it didn't bother us one bit. And about the noise — we requested a room away from Post and we were on the top floor, but we still slept with our windows open all night. I made sure and had the fans going (they provide them for you) and my husband and I have noise maker apps on our phones that we had going all night. With the exception of a few ambulances going by, we slept like babies. The beds are super comfy. I wish this place was a chain because I would never go anywhere else. Loved it! Oh, and the historic feel of the hotel was very nice.

We stayed at this hotel in Feb. 2014, and it was a lovely experience. This is a moderately priced but nice, comfortable hotel with an old world charm for which San Francisco is famous. The staff was so very helpful and well informed. They went to great lengths to provide any information. Our room was comfortable — but because we were on a lower floor heard some street noise if windows were open. I would certainly stay again.

Complementary, excellent breakfast the triangles at 5 in the afternoon with wine, cookies, peanuts, juices, to cut the afternoon. Renting be more helpful and friendly service. A little odor in the room. And very comfortable is to have a kitchenette in the room.

Best hotel ever! I would stay here again and recommend it! The hotel and the rooms have a vicorian style: Historically old and clean. Nothing is broken everything is fine. The staff is nice and they served today (1. Christmas day) red wine and crackers with cheese in the lobby. The lobby is very beautiful and is nice to sit there and drink a coffee. It has some 1920's flair. Super super hotel.
