Very good and central location, adequate rooms in size but noisy (either because of the elevator or for the external air fans) and with glass that make a lot of air spiffs pass… BREAKFAST INEXISTING, consider it as not to have it… In fact breakfast is from 7 to 10, but when we got off us (at 8) there were only 4 brioches, some cereal, coffee and finished juices. Nothing else. Continental breakfast not even the shade.

I don't recommend it.

Standard hotel with basic amenities. All in all it was a cozy stay. I am not the kind of girl who is into the bells and whistles of a flashy hotel so the fact that it was a comfortable room, that it was clean and cool in my room was great, especially at an affordable price. I would definitely stay again.

Despite the many bad reviews I found a hotel to meet expectations… it's obviously a cheap hotel but the location is great… walking distance from Union Square. Same location as much more expensive hotels.
The flaws? Breakfast I would say non-existent or almost and lack of a hair dryer in the rooms. For the rest, given the price, I would say a good accommodation x visit San Francisco.
As everywhere in the windy city it is almost impossible to park for free… especially in that area. So if you're in the car resign yourself to shelling out 40 bucks a day x the valet parking. That the Beresford insures exactly how the Marriots side by side.

We had a wonderful stay. Charming hotel in an excellent location. We were fortunate that the weather was cool though as the rooom has no air conditioning. Had the weather been hot the room temperature would have been uncomfortable. Rooms are small and a little dated. But we still enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

Hotel rooms are very old and extremely small. Not a lot of plug points too. The location is also noisy however is close to all amenities. Hotel charges $40 per night for valet parking which is standard in the area. Breakfast is pretty average (mostly sweet). Free Wifi was helpful. Staff are friendly and nice.

Clean room. Nice staff. There is a lack of plugs to charge things. I had to unplug lamps. No hair dryer in room. My room had a view of the wall of the neighboring building. Kinda like my grandma's house. Elevator was tiny but fast.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean. Centrally located. We would definitely stay here again.

We loved the location and the rooms were very nice and clean. We were only 2 blocks from the Trolley line that took us to all the places we wanted to see. No views from the room though and we had a fire alarm go off in the middle of the night. Breakfast had great pastries but nothing else worth mentioning.

Old outdated accommodations. Bathroom window leaked cold air like a wind tunnel. The only solution offered was an extra towel to stuff at bottom of window. Guest service not a priority. Can't figure out why AAA gave a 2 star rating.

For the rooms being small, I actually really liked this place. It was clean, quiet and the beds were very comfortable. Amazing location within walking distance of many great areas, attractions and restaurants.

It's just a crappy. Yes, well located. Laughter breakfasts, but included in the price and cheap, so…

Fun, cute little hotel. Room was small but clean. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. The restaurant attached to the hotel was phenomenal! Drinks were well priced and strong. Food was some of the best we had in the area. Would definitely recommend.

Like others have mention this is an old hotel but it lacks the charm. The first room I stayed in was next to the elevator and boy was it loud. I had to switch rooms and the second room was on the first floor and away from the elevator however it was right down the bar/restaurant so at night time I had no trouble hearing people drinking and talking. The bed was uncomfortable and not just the mattress but also the blanket and bed sheets. The bathroom light will flicker like something out of a silent hill game for couple seconds when turn on and the water temperature out of the shower was inconsistent. This place is fine if you're staying for the night but anything longer than that I would look for somewhere else. The only reason im not giving it one star is because the front desk people were nice and friendly.

Equipped with a TV with walk-in closet and a small bathroom with shower.
Breakfast was rich and free high speed Internet but only in the public rooms. The hotel is a good starting point to visit San Francisco.

Excellent stay and price to be SF.

Great Location for this hotel. Walking distance to business district, union square and China town. Close to many dinners. Very dated, and need much upkeep. No very secure, our window didn't lock, the heat was only turn on part of the day… cleaning is done daily but not a thorough white gloves type of cleaning. Paint peel off old radiator, roller shade wouldn't work properly, black spot/stain on white bedroom drapes… Dust on door jams and electric outlets… plus TV channels are very limited. Maybe 11 channels working. Wifi works, but can be spoty. The breakfast bar, was pleasant except most days it didn't provide serving utensils. … The last day I was there, some of the grapes were molded and wondered if they sort and clean them before serving? Location isn't everything.

Clean, nice room, simple breakfast but included in the room reservation, friendly staff… Good value for money.

Got it for a good price. Only stayed one night, but not too bad considering the price I paid. Only doensode, room is a bit stuffy as there's no thermostat or AC, but you can crack open the window (those might be normal at San Francisco hotels, I wouldn't know) and there's no exhaust in the bathroom as well. Otherwise, good place to go just to have a place to sleep for the night. Free breakfast and Wi-Fi. Front desk is veey friendly. Workers are helpful.

Not what I expected for the price I paid, Front desk staff was nice, rooms were clean but very very small and all furniture is outdated, old, no ac/heating, paint & wallpaper were coming off the walls, outlets were falling out of place, room had small flatscreen with limited channel selection, did not have amenities that were listed. Sheets and cover were not of great quality, on the plus side, White Horse Bar is attached to this hotel. Over priced for the quality of the rooms.

Great hotel, very friendly staff, nice and very clean rooms with comfortable bed. The resturant bar downstairs is truly remarkable, ans very reasonably priced. Will certainly return soon.

Great customer service. Excellent location. The valet is pricy but its quality in San Francisco. Room is nice. Bed is very comfortable. A+. I'm satisfied.

Service and Staff super friendly especially Maria, she'll go above and beyond for you. Has a bar attached nice lil quant atmosphere. Also a computer room and TV room, both of which I have spent some time in. They do not have a parking lot however but they do valet and in this area might be worth it.

Was put in a room right next to the elevator which was quite noisy. Asked to move and they were very accommodating, but new room's bathroom lock did not work. Christmas music playing at 7AM on a Sunday woke us up. Hotel staff slightly distracted but very nice for moving us to another room.

Not the nicest building wise. However, staff is nice rooms are clean, bed is comfy and the small shower felt amazing. Would come back on a future vacation!

Good hotel great breakfast decor a little dated.

This is my first time in San Francisco, and I stayed here because of the positive reviews. As soon as I pulled up, the valet was no where to be found, the bell hop was very rude, gave him our luggage and started complaining about the 2 bags my husband and I had, we could’ve easily took them up ourselves but he insisted. They don’t offer free parking, so if you’re looking for that, go elsewhere. The front desk was not pleasant and warming, when I asked if we can get our car in a couple hours they said, well we can leave it outside for you but if we need to move it we can’t guara when it will be back. Hmmmm I’m paying $35+ dollars PLUS TAX, so I can’t have my car when I need it? So far I am anything but pleased with the service and this is my first day here.

I loved the place where it is installed, close to shops to buy a lot of clothes, restaurant, several hotels on site, but took away a star, as it is a tourist hotel have Q have at least 1 employee who speaks Spanish, example Mexicans.!

Great staff, wonderful location. No air conditioning which is an odd choice in modern times. The building has a classic charm but it is a bit older, if you like that sort of feel.

The hotel is located in a very central location just two blocks from the union Square, the facilities are old but preserved, they provide basic breakfast (does not include eggs), the rooms are comfortable to spend the night, the site is safe to walk to the Around. The only negative thing I have to say is the poor attention of Mr. Jamie from the front desk, it was a bit rude to ask for favor for the microwave and request information.

Hotel to forget, a lot of noise unpleasant staff infamous breakfast and to close the whole lack of cleanliness.

The hotel is well located, the parking is very expensive, $45 per night.
We touched the room 305, is next to the elevator and makes a lot of noise luckily wore earplugs.

It's a small quaint hotel. Anyone expecting luxury or grandeur should look elsewhere. If you want a really comfortable, reasonably quiet, and affordable place to stay in the heart of the city, you can do much worse than Hotel Beresford. The breakfast is a bit underwhelming, and the shower blasted randomly scalding and freezing water, but those things aren't a huge deal, at least to me.

Nice authentic hotel. I was happy to stay with a friend. I only wish they had some salty thing to have at breakfast, everything had sugar. I love bagel & cheese :)

Good and quiet, but still expensive.

Nice place to stay. Lovely comfy clean beds. Ample breakfast and good food at nights. Would def stay here again.

Comfortable hotel within easy reach of Union Square.

Awesome place to grab some cocktails and sit by the place and have a nice discussion with close friends. Definitely coming back here again.

It is a nice hotel and the staff that work there were very friendly. The problems I encounter was that twice the lift didn't work meaning that I had to walk up 7 flights of stairs. Plus that had a leak in the pub attache to it. Overall it was bad for the price.

Good location, clean hotel. Expensive parking (40 dollars + 5 dollars in taxes that are presented only at the end) and not comfortable since to get back the vehicle you have to wait 30 minutes. Not far (15minuti walk) on the third Street there is a parking at a good price.

Really very expensive for what it offers, and guest rooms. In addition to their these in the rooms of the upper floors do not get enough water to the shower.

This is an old hotel. The windows are single pane and don't necessarily close properly. That wouldn't be such a problem, but the heaters also only work at night (if the hotel staff turns them on). The breakfast is free, but low quality (cheerios, special K, old croissants, old muffins, fruit, milk, coffee). The bartenders and servers in the White Horse were rude to me and my friends. I could hear the music (and loud voices) from the bar until after midnight in my room on the second floor. On the plus side, the internet worked well, and the location is convenient.

Hotel Beresford is a nice average hotel stay near Powell St BART. Queen bedroom wasn't a large space but adequate. Comfortable bed but nothing special. Very nice front desk service. Close to the heart of Civic Center, but far enough away. I'd stay again.

I stayed for around $99 a night. For the price and location, I recommend this place. The decor in the hallway is gorgeous. The decor in the rooms is a bit aged. Who goes on vacation and stays in the hotel room though? Free Wi-Fi. SF airport shuttle picks you up for $15 a person.

Very average place. Not that good, not that bad.

The hotel has photographs on its web page that do not have to do anything with reality. Our room was tinytiny, the matrass seemed from 50 years ago, any drawer you pulled out of any piece of furniture fell apart, in front of the window was a Wall, I felt as if in a prison cell. We made out as quickly as we could and — that was corteous of the managers — they did not charge us with anything.

Good hotel, clean and with good price. Position is OK near Union square. Definitely better than Market St.

Nice location, but the staff was very rude at arrival and reacted very rude at some normal questions. Not very welcome after having a long trip. Room is ok. Wifi is very bad.

Stayed there August 2013. Wi-Fi was excellent. Rooms were nice. The hotel is not great to look at from outside but nice inside. The staff were helpful. Not a great breakfast but if you wanted more other places were close. Had a mini fridge which is helpful. Could do your own mini breakfast if you wanted in the room.
