It took me a long time to pick the right place to stay in San Francisco for a week vacation. I ended up picking Cow Hollow Motor Inn because of its location and price. It helped my husband and me save on getting a rental car. We were able to walk to most of the places we needed to go and use the MUNI bus system because there were several bus stops near the hotel. There is a lot of good food in the area, too, so we would often walk to a restaurant nearby for dinner. Pier 39 is around a 30-40 minute walk, so we would walk there a lot to use the ferry or shop. We walked there to get a car rental and were able to use the free parking at the inn for a day, which was very nice. We ate at Home Plate for breakfast twice, which is the restaurant next door to the inn. You get 10% off your meal if you show them your hotel card, and it is good food! The hotel room was VERY clean and very nice. There is a hair dryer and an iron, and when I asked before coming, the front desk said there wasn't. Wish I hadn't taken my own to free up space in my suitcase. Overall, highly recommend staying here! There is also a bike rental across the street if you want to bike around San Francisco. Also, my husband and I stayed in a room facing Lombard Street, but we weren't bothered by the noise and slept fine.
