Yes I recommend this hotel and bistro. Superb breakfast and Sunday lunch. Staff very friendly and helpful. Decor lovely. Great feel to the place.

Amazing place, love the old original features of the building. The tiled bar is amazing. The food was out of this world and every dish was wonderfully presented and delicious. The smoked salmon with celeriac remoulade was divine and the treacle tart and liquorice ice cream was out of this world. Will visit again very soon for more delights.

Great place, hotel sturdy 3 stars, bar and restaurant on the ground floor, the menu is small but cooked delicious, the wait staff attentive and polite. I was pleased.

Looks abit dishearten from the outside but once your inside it's a wonderful period hotel with good quality food and friendly staff.

Service slow. Didn't have garlic bread although they served some bread that had never seen garlic & the apologised when it was sent back because they'd run out of garlic butter! Main course was excellent. They just need better service and to ensure what they serve is what is ordered!

Beautiful venue wonderful staff very supportive of other local businesses plus the chef there is excellent his food is incredible!

Had a lovely meal, lovely staff and Dickie the chef was superb. Highly recommend the Unfourseen menu. Will be visiting again.

A quiet cozy place, with delicious food.

Had a meal there in a group of twenty people with a mix of ages from 80s to teenagers. Everyone agreed the food was excellent.

My first visit to the Waterloo this evening, at first I was slightly unsure of this place, but as soon as I walked in that changed, lovely stafff and great food. Would definitely recommend this place and won’t be my last visit.

Had Xmas lunch today, totally over priced very very poor food quality to justify the price. Don't like to poorly rate but I have too. No complementary drink on arrival no Xmas music and poorly lit rooms. Service staff very poor especially one young lad he didn't seem to know what day it was let alone Christmas day… Won't be returning sorry…

Fabulous food, fabulous drinks, wonderful waitress we had, would do anything to make us happy. Chefs are good lads. Up for a laugh any time and their talent for cooking is limitless. Beautiful grub! Love the decor inside this place too, it's like stepping back into a 20's Jazz bar! Lovely stained glass windows too. I definitely recommend a visit here :)

Delicious food and a warm welcome.

I had a meal at The Waterloo when it first opened, it wasn't so great so I didn't go back. We had some friends over from New York, so it's always difficult to please Manhattanites as they are so spoiled. The Waterloo was equal distance from where we live and where they were staying, so we took a chance. We had a lovely warm greeting as if we were long lost friends, had a drink at the bar while we ordered our food. We were sat when the starters were ready. Everything was delicious, perfectly cooked and served with a smile. I regret not having giving it a second chance until now. I shall be back soon!

Have visited twice now, The Waterloo is definitely a place we'll stay at again. We received a friendly welcome from all of the staff from the moment we arrived. They were polite, courteous and welcoming. The rooms were spacious, well decorated and very comfortable. On our second visit we had an evening meal with family; each meal was delicious and moderately priced. The full cooked breakfast can be tailored to suit your tastes at no trouble to the owner/cook. Very much a home away from home, with an illustrious and interesting past!

Love it here. Staff so attentive and friendly. Food hot and excellent quality. Lovely bar area for drinks before meal. Very reasonable. A hidden gem!

Can't praise the hotel, staff and food enough Bob, Teri, Lisa and Steph (to name a few) went out of their way to make Dan and Emily's big day go with a bang and made it all look so easy. Rooms were lovely and beds really comfy, food was sooo tasty right from breakfast to evening meal and wedding breakfast and the atmosphere was so warm and friendly from beginning to end and nothing was too much effort. Thank you all again for a fantastic weekend and we'll be back soon.

Warm welcome, large very clean and fresh room, small amount redecoration would have put rating upto 5*, good breakfast, recommended.

Very friendly staff. The bistro is good. The rooms also. The diners perfect. When we're going back to Newport, we're in the Waterloo hotel &bistro. The place to be in Newport.

What a great place! Friendly, helpful staff. Great food and service : scallop starter, pea and ham soup and great steaks.

The hospitality on arrival was good. We were then taken to our table where the starter promptly arrived. Starter was ok, that's where it all went downhill. Asked if we could leave the car parked on site before ordering more drinks, was told someone would speak to us. Well to be Frank, that was the last we heard. Food came with undercooked anemic dry chips which became an endurance challenge, rather than a bearable inconvenience having nothing to drink. The steak was fine but ruined by the rest of the plate. Still we sat with empty glasses and the only time a drink was mentioned again was 'would you like coffee' to which I politely declined. Finally, to add. At no point were we asked if everything was ok or how was the food, except on payment of the bill. All in all, disappointing. A premium price for budget service. Manager apologized profusely and said blame laid with her. Was given a refund for one steak meal which went a little way towards allaying our disappointment.

What a nice, quite, and wonderful place. Teri and Bob will bend over backwards to do anything for their guest and residents! Thanks so much for everything.
