NEVER will I set foot in The Stuffed Dormouse again which is a shame as the food was lovely. I booked a table for 5 adults, 1 child and 2 highchairs therefore you would expect to have children at the meal. All 3 children were good as gold, each had their moments. As my friends were paying I picked my daughter up and she started to cry. The manager/owner came over in front of everyone and asked me to go to the bar because “the baby is crying” I asked her to repeat herself. She once again told me to go to the bar area because “the baby is crying and it’s not fair on everyone else”. I have never been so embarrassed to the point I left the restaurant in tears. She then proceeded to tell my sister that it was affecting her business and 2 people next to us were about to get up and leave. To top this off she said to my friends at the bar “that baby” in a frustrated and obnoxious manner. It was unnecessary as we were already leaving and her attitude was disgraceful. They advertise that a “very warm welcome awaits you”. This could not be further from the truth.

Stuffed dormouse? That's the only thing that gets full. I must say, this was a last effort chance at finding a place to eat. I wish I hadn't. We stopped for something in Sainsbury's to fill ourselves up. Our meal, which was 3 courses was tiny. Sides were just as small, the side order was greeted with the look of "is that it? " Waiting times were unacceptable too, with us ending up talking to the table next to us over the understaffed 45 minute wait for food. We won't be coming back.

Very quick, efficient and friendly staff. Quality of the food excellent, would highly recommend.

A very warm reception very nice owner food very good, staff made it excellent, nice big car park opposite, good menu varied food choice.

Popped in for a guinness earlier and it was delish. Ill be back for more.

Will say was served by a very helpful waitress. Ordered starter which was edible but not great. The main how ever was tough and bland. Because I was unable to eat my meal we were offered free desserts to take away please see the attached picture to see what we were given. Never been given such a burnt pastry before in my life. Would never eat there again or unfortunately recommend. Worst £52 ever spent left hungry.

Unique place, friendly staff. Exotic food also, which is a nice option. Tried the bison, crocodile, horse and zebra. Would highly recommend bison, tasted as good as a beef fillet steak!

I started my meal over 60 mins after my friends and partner had their starter and main. The decor is great, not a loud place. I think the stuffed dormouse is good however I did call to book a place prior to arriving yet still waited just over 60 mins. The booking system could be updated to the standards customers expect.

Lovely comfortable place to eat, takes a little time for food between courses but overall I would definitely recommend and will definately go back.

Great food, great place. Would have liked a little more choice of sides and non-alcoholic drinks. But really well made meals.

First time here, arrived and was instantly greeted by a very friendly lady a welcoming real fire. Shown through to our table in the restaurant area. Extremely clean and spacious. Lunch menu was very reasonable and the food was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble for the waitress and we felt very well catered for throughout the service. Looking forward to returning to 'The Stuffed Dormouse' ~ thank you so much.

Went there for Sunday lunch with grandaughter son and wife. Staff friendly and welcoming. Settled for two courses for £10. We all had the roast and child's portion roast. Food was excellent and good portions good value for our money. Desserts were good with a little personal touch of a chocolate dormouse on our plates could not fault the staff or meal will be calling back there again. Would highly recommend a visit.

Friendly, attentive staff. Good Sunday Lunch. All clean and tidy, would go again.

Decided to give this place another try after the bad press last summer Unknown to us when we booked it was under new management from that day. Can honestly say the food was excellent and the service second to none. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be returning. Just as a matter of interest the hygiene rating is 5

Really tidy. Food lovely. Service with a smile and bent over backwards to accommodate our fussy eater. Place was clean and busy. What not to like?!

If you're just after a quick snack, they don't do any. Not even a bag of crisps.

Food was good service was very slow. Toilets did not have any hot water. Then noticed the zero food rating as we left.

The only nice thing about this over rated pub are the chairs. Terrible slow service. Over cooked food. Tiny portions. Rude stuff. I asked for a glass of servignon blanc and was told I can have chardonnay or pinot unless I buy a bottle. I chose water in the end and the waiters response was that I went from one extreme to another. Asked for a bottle of Corona and he suggested Sol. The starter was ok but the mains were awful. Dry salmon with some odd concoction on top with what should have been crushed potoes. It resembled mash pie if there is such a thing with a hint of dishwasher. We also ordered a kingsize skewer to try all 8 meats. What came was 8 tiny chunks of meat with no indication what meat was what. All 8 chunks were dry and over cooked and chips that were actually sauted potatoes. This was an eye watering 27.95. That's over 3 quid a chunk. The service was very slow and the staff looked bored. All dishes came out separately with a tiresome wait for all of them. Such a shame. 60 pounds for this meal and not a smile to go with it. The lobster tank is sad to look at. Over crowded and seems a rather unnecessary gimmick nowadays.

My favourite food place. Exotic meats are fantastic. Lovely atmosphere too. Although can be very busy.

A much sought after restaurant. Always book in advance (advise you get a seat in the cosier restaurant and not the conservatory — although good). They have a good early bird menu and the price is fair for the decent quality food. They have a selection of exotic meats, but these come with a premium. Be warned that they have a lobster tank in the main room if this kind of thing puts you off. Service good and staff are accommodating. Have always had a good meal here. Parking is in a small rough stoned car park opposite.

A unique restaurant with a mix of traditional and unconventional food options at good prices.

Everything about this place was OK. Weird old pub decor, weird service, perfectly cook steak that tasted of nothing.

Delicious locally sourced produce at a great price. Their main and desert or starter and a main for £10 is not to be missed, the deserts are especially tempting with different ones every day.

For a pre birthday treat had lunch today with friends. It was superb. We chose the two for ten pounds menu as there was something to suit everyone. The meals were well presented, even a fish shaped dish for a tuna steak, and beautifully cooked. The desert menu did not disappoint either. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Overall a very pleasing dining experience We will certainly be returning and will recommend the Stuffed Door Mouse to everyone.

Waited 45 mins for any service. Food over priced and you don't get asked how you like your meats cooked, over cooked for our taste. Toilets were disgusting flooded and unflushable. Wouldn't visit again a total disappointment. Pub grub at ala carte price.

The menu is amazing, the food is superb and the bill does not hurt.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We were lucky enough to stay on last night when they had an Open Mic night, which was fantastic. The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean and our room had a huge bed, big enough for the kids awell. Great location for visiting Caerleon. Would recommend staying here again and have even booked to go back next month.
