We booked to stay here whilst my husband was on business. It doesnt look much from the outside but once inside it is a pleasant relaxed atmosphere where you can just relax. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. There was some noise from outside but we are very central. Our meal was nice with a really pleasant waiter. Only down fall was we had to walk to the sister hotel for breakfast.

We came on Friday at about 11:15pm. Such an excellent spot with delicious cocktails and friendly staff! Live music made our night!

What a fantastic place for a few drinks with friends! we stumbled across it on Friday night and made a point to go back on Saturday night. A great team with a fantastic atmosphere.

The staff didn't even speak to each other in the bar. It was so dark I couldn't see to choose a drink. Only stayed because it advertised entertainment which did not happen.

Stunningly cozy hotel. Wonderful hospitality, they really think of everything. The food is good, the interior is beautiful and the beds are the best I ever slept in. Located in the middle of all the important sites. I would not stay anywhere else!

Good food and beer in good order, not too expensive but it was over a tenner for the two of us.

Would definitely pay another visit here. The bed and pillows were super comfy. The room and bathroom were lovely and spacious. Fantastic location right on the Royal Mile so expect a bit of noise from that and also from the bar below at night. Plenty of sights right on your doorstep. Fab.

The toilets are absolutely disgusting! They look like the haven’t been cleaned all day. Dirty nappies sitting on top of the rubbish outside the bin

Friendly staff and quick service make this perfectly located watering hole ideal for a late breakfast. Quick internet and a spacious main chamber. Worth the visit.

I didn’t stay at the hotel but had dinner in the pub. Absolutely gorgeous! My waitress — Julie — was amazing. She made great recommendations on the gin menu, chatted to me and I also watched her helping a family with their severely autistic son. I work in the industry and if I lived close enough I would 100% be trying to poach her right now. Also — the food was brilliant. Try the Mac and Cheese — it’s amazing! Will be back before I leave!

Loved staying here! The room was big with a comfortable bed and a huge bathroom. We stayed here for our honeymoon and were so happy to have chosen this spot!

The rooms are amazing. There is a bar/Cafe downstairs. And the hotel itself is within walking distance of everything!

Brilliant place for drinks on the royal mile. I had a spritz which cost £6.95 which I thought was very reasonable. Great atmosphere too.

I would personally recommend The Inn on the Mile. I have stayed here the past two nights and have found the staff to be amazing. They were courteous and helped where possible. … even Colin carrying our bags to our room as there is no lift.
The building is a beautiful ex bank and is situated in a great location on the Royal Mile. It is within easy walking distance to all attractions.

Best bar and restaurant in Edinburgh! We’ve spent the afternoon here watching the World Cup final and all the staff are brilliant! They’ve made us feel so welcome and the food is amazing! After settling in our hotel, my parents and I were starving. A few of my friends suggested that I have a meal at The Inn on the Mile when I'm visiting Edinburgh. For drinks, they have wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic spritzers. We order the special, Berry cocktail (which consisted of Monkey Shoulder, raspberry, and ginger ale), and Sweet Spritzer (which consisted of grapefruit, lemon, and soda). For food, they have small bites, soups, salads, and entrees. We shared a bowl of Carrot and Coriander Soup (which was served with farmhouse bread and butter), Classic Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken (which consisted of dressed gem lettuce, bacon lardons, shaved parmesan, anchovies, croutons, and grilled chicken), and Potato Skins topped with sour cream and spring onion. I liked how the carrot and coriander soup had a curry flavor and a peppery taste to it and the farmhouse bread was toasted. I felt that the Classic Caesar Salad and Potato Skins were rich and creamier than expected. The sour cream was runnier than expected. I loved how the grilled chicken was seasoned with salt and pepper, tender, and served hot.

We went for a quick lunch on a Saturday. We got a booth which was really comfortable. The kids menu was much cheaper than I was expecting for a restaurant on the Royal Mile. I had the fish and chips which was hot and tasty. The kids loved their food (which also came at a a good temperature as opposed to steaming hot). Service was friendly. Id recommend it for a relaxed bite to eat.

Excellent boutique hotel in the epicentre of the Royal Mile. Rooms are well appointed and the added bonus is the excellent pub/ restaurant. Definitely a must if you're staying in Edinburgh.

Good price, great service, good food and desserts! The setting is very nice with a high ceiling. Great choice of cocktails! There's not much table. The map is small.

This place was below my expectations! I was recently here and was seated, we ordered our food but as my grandmother has health problems we asked to be moved to a different seat, the woman agreed that we could move after she had cleaned the table! As we waited a group came in and sat in our allocated seats! But we were told it’s not her problem, she only has seats left right at the door! The lack of respect and manners was atrocious! When complaining to the manager we were told their is nothing she can do and that it wasn’t her problem! Ridiculous! I do not recommend this place to anyone! I would recommend Nicholson’s across the road as their service, food and manners were outstanding!

Central location, albeit away from the crowd that builds up near the castle. The treatment of the waiters was of the best while still overshadowing the food.

Don't stay here if you'll want a shower or bath. The hot water in our bathroom would cut out when running a bath or taking a shower. The temperature in the shower couldn't be turned down so when the boiler was briefly working the water was too hot to stand under. I couldn't have a shower or bath at any point in my three night stay — pretty dismal for any hotel, never mind a "luxury" one. After a long delay the hotel offered only a very meagre partial refund. Maybe I was too affable about the problem at the time. I suppose the lesson is to throw a strop when things don't go well or you'll be given short shrift.

I ordered scramble egg with smoked salmon dor breakfast. The food was nice and good quality. The scramble egg were soft and really tasty. Nice service. About the prices, I think it is a bit over price, but I've just arrived to Edinburgh, so I don't know how the prices are around here. Nice selection of alcoholic drinks.

The Inn on the Nile now this is a great location its bar/restaurant/hotel we visited this at night time looking something to eat and drink. Looked like it was for older folk IE my age type group. Boutique type restaurant with entertainment the food was good great service. We enjoyed the seating in the corner could just site people watch. Good hotel, great food, its a more sort somber type sound. Worth a visit.

The staff is incredibly friendly. They made this American feel right at home. The location is fantastic, the food is good and the bar is weirdly "local" for a hotel. This hotel didn't feel like it was geared towards creating a "tourist" experience. Instead it felt like it was designed to give you a taste of living in Scotland's capital. Make sure you check out the baked potato restaurant down the road. This hotel and that restaurant were highlights of the trip.

This was a pleasant experience although it resembles a motel in terms of the accommodation with a back door access to let you climb the stairs to the rooms. The room itself was a little tired but this having been said it was decent and clean. Nice tea and coffee although the two pies were uncovered on the windowsill so we were a little unsure how fresh or long they had been there. Having said all that the location is what sells this place. It is fantastic. Right in the centre of the Royal Mile affording easy access to surrounding area.

The food was surprisingly good, probably this place is among the best I tried in Edinburgh. Price is decent considering the good portions. Service is friendly but a bit approximate, as often happens in England. Better to avoid rush hours, it might get really crowded.

Modern decor with a great layout and booths so you can have a more private meal. Food was good quality pub grub that was reasonably priced and staff were super friendly. Also in a great location if you want to be on the royal mile or close to the castle.

Great central location. Simple layout — a big high ceiling square. Couldn't comment on the accommodation. Friendly helpful staff. A decent range of cocktails, local beers and single malts. The food was great value, ribeye steak was tender, great value and very flavourful. Popular with locals and visitors alike.

Good nachos and drinks. Toilet area filthy, needs a serious deep clean! really put me off eating there again!

Great location and lovely building. Enjoyed live solo guitarist/singer on the Monday evening we were there.

Very lovely establishment. Excellent pint of Tennant's and good atmosphere. Smell outside toilets wasn't great if I'm honest.

Although rather busy on arrival the lovely staff soon found us a table, which was unfortunately next to a radiator, but asked if we could move once a table became free which they obliged without hesitation. Drinks and food were good if not exceptional, decent portion sizes and flavoursome, and good value in pricing particularly for the rib-eye steak. Although a fairly large open area the noise wasn't an issue and the music was a good volume to still be able to hear and be heard. Happily recommended for food or drinks and would visit again.

Busy little pub. I'm local and it was full of tourists. Great atmosphere. Didn't eat but menu looked good.

Called in for drinks in between shows and stayed longer than intended… fantastic atmosphere and reasonable priced drinks menu… Great live music… all in all would highly recommend.

I found the establishment offered a warm and comfortable surroundings. There is an excellent selection of beers and spirits. It's located in the heart of city and has outdoor seating.

This place was awesome. We had a long day and this was the perfect ending! Dominic made sure we had the best cocktails and the food was fantastic. We had the fish and chips and the steak pie! Highly recommend both!

We a Stayed during the run up to Christmas and found the location to be excellent. Our room was superb. Good local beers and friendly service.

Very bad! We spent our last two days in Scotland at this hotel in Edinburgh which has only the good location near the pedestrian zone on the Royal Mile.
Rooms are accessed from the pub that has the counter on one side and on the other the reception. Clearly is uncomfortable and even embarrassing having to move with your bags between the patrons and the tables of the pubs.
The room inspired by the inventor of anesthesia was really eerie so full of bottles and test tubes as it was and it wasn't for the enthusiasm with which we embarked on our honeymoon trip, would leave us dumbstruck.
Besides, dirty, full of dust, with the toilet that seemed to literally fall apart.
The breakfast was the worst meal in Scotland: opened at 8 in the morning and we both days we showed up at that hour, ordering from the menu and being able to eat, both mornings, just after 40 minutes. In short, though the opening is found at 8 in fact nothing was ready and was hungry for 40 minutes before seeing even just making sandwiches.
The hotel was under renovation when we arrived. When we received the email thing, before we left, we thought that since the work would be on the second floor, would not be a problem for us but we were wrong!

I was looking for some haggis in Scotland and some food for the kids at the same time. This place had a great menu and excellent staff and service. Try the haggis bonbons if you are there.

We came for dinner at this pub because we thought it was a gastro pub. It isn't. I was brought a rump steak which was a piece of shoe leather. I sent it back and was brought another piece of shoe leather. My daughter was given cheap frozen scampi and about 5 peas. The food here is TERRIBLE. The staff were very nice and gave us a reduction on the bill. But I would have happily paid double for a nice meal. We were so disappointed as this was our one night in Edinburgh and we don't have much money to spend on meals out. The Singer was great tho — Becka Fox. Although most of the customers didn't appreciate her and didn't even clap.

Recently been renovated and now is actually a much nicer pub inside. Due to its location it is always busy with tourists but it has a wide selction of drinks available and is a great place to grab a quick pint if its not too busy. If it wasn't so pricey I'd give it five stars.

Surprisingly we found ourselves awake at 10am on New Years Day and were very happy when we stumbled on The Inn On The Mile and that it was still serving breakfast. The full Scottish breakfast was reasonably priced with good quality ingredients. They unfortunately ran out of sausages but happily substituted it with a large amount of haggis. They where even 'serving' and I couldn't miss the opportunity to try one of their real beer flight (tasting menu). If I lived in Edinburgh I could see this being one of my regular haunts because it is so chilled. (Visit — 01/01/2015 Breakfast).

Super! Wonderful rooms and great lobby bar. Will stay nowhere else but here again.

Just visited this bar (it's also a hotel) one night as I'd seen it had been refurbished and wanted to check it out. It was once the Bank Hotel, the Bank had been there for years, maybe 10 or more? The Bank had a large bar in the centre of the space and seating round the edge, with an traditional timber and tiled pub feel. It has since been completely reformed, for the better? Well, I've always thought the Bank had it's place in Edinburgh, bit of an institute for sports, tourists and a long standing pub. I wasn't a frequent visitor at all, but I'm sad to see it go and be turned into yet another swanky bar. Don't get me wrong, the refurb is nice, the bar is now down one side, there's a central spine of banquet fixed seating (that look like they are rather cleverly floating in mid air) and banquet seating around the perimeter. The old Bank's ornate tiled walls have been taken to the raw stone wall. I'm glad to see they've not got rid of the tiles entirely and some remain on the walk down the stairs to the toilets. Some evenings they have entertainment: Mondays is quiz night. Tuesdays — (whisky) flight night. Wednesdays — Steak and Schooner night. Thursdays — Jam Lock in. Fridays — Keeping it local (local band playing). Saturdays — Saturday Session (cover bands). Sundays — Roast. A busy schedule! Prices are what you'd expect from a tourist/centre of town bar. Yeah, it's ok, but it's not got me rushing back for more.

Nice atmosphere. It is nicer now than when it was 'The Bank' but it is hard to start calling it 'The Inn On The Mile', the name is not very good! Not the cheapest for a pint but it is nice and the staff are friendly. When it is busy it feels very busy and that takes away from the atmosphere a little.

Relatively recently refurbished and a massive improvement. Feels like a more upmarket bar to it's predecessor the Bank. Regularly has live music playing and can be difficult to get a seat at times. Tables are big, so good for big groups.
