Spur of the moment last minute booking after a heavy night at the crazybear hotel and not wanting to drive the 3 hours home. So glad we booked, food has been really great! It's a great rural pub and restaurant — friendly staff and good food. The rooms have recently been refurbished and are smart and comfortable. We keep coming back!

We were on a little bike tour and stopped there. The pictures on the net reflect the "old part" in which we sat not so well. It had the atmosphere of an ancient pub with few seats at the counter and seating for two to four people. Overall very "cozy"! The map on the wall — handwritten on slate boards — already caused the water in our mouths to converge. Fish, meat, salads and a lot of small things left no wish.
The fish cakes and the burgers ordered were great and also ingenious in terms of portion size. We will be happy to come back when we are in the area.

Meal for seven people, all the food was suberb, each dish beautifully presented. I had the scotch egg to start followed by the fish and chips and it was all very tasty. Service was excellent, nice place.

Lovely location to stay in whilst at a wedding at Hedsor House. Room was great as was the food. Breakfast in the morning was fresh and sumptuous. Would definately stay again.

First time staying at this historical Inn. The room was very nice (Jr. Suite). The food and drink was good as well. If you're looking for a stay at an establishment different from a typical chain hotel — you won't be disappointed!

The best dinner I've had in quite a while. Excellent service. Incredible food. Would highly recommend.

Elegantly presented food, with excellent taste and quality of ingredients. For example varieties of none orange carrots, and not purple beetroot, these really made the dishes feel special and different. Chef was flexible to my order requests and the waiters were attentive and polite. The pub side is welcoming for a pre dinner drink.

The rooms are newly renovated and very nice. Especially the ones in the bew building. I can recommend both the bar and restaurant as well. Staff very friendly.

I recently stayed in one of the newly decorated rooms of the old part of the Chequers Inn. The rooms are absolutely stunning and very modern, so much has changed since the last time I stayed. The food at the hotel was amazing, we had breakfast and dinner there and could not fault it. The hotel has such a nice and relaxing atmosphere as well as very welcoming staff who can’t do enough for you. Great value for money and can highly recommend. We will be back again soon!

A picturesque hotel with an amazing main building. The rooms are not up to standard in the older part of the hotel. No ventilation so very damp air, very tricky to regulate water temperature for the shower. Breakfast is ok, the pub is very cozy and familiar.

Nice old pub with modern accommodation block across the courtyard. Good restaurant and friendly staff especially the south African brother and sister. Recommended.

This is is my favourite pub/restaurant although it is a long way from home for me. The bar food is excellent, with a mix of staple foods like steaks or fishcakes, with more original dishes like greengage and almond cake, plus some game dishes like pheasant and partridge, all at very reasonable prices and served in a comfortable atmosphere with a mix of rustic and modern decor. I have been dropping in for 20 years now and never had a bad meal.

Gorgeous old building which retains its character despite a recent refurbishment. I was a bit shocked to see the new annexe building where the garden used to be but investigation reveals this is for business/weddings/events so very sensible really.
Bar food and service as good as ever and the pub was nice and busy by the time we left after a lazy Sunday lunch. My husband hadn't been here before and was very impressed with the whole place.

Dropped in during a Hike for a soft drink. Staff were friendly, nice decor throughout and clean. I didn't try the food but saw it being served and it certainly looked good. Will definitely be going out of my way to try out the food at some point in the near future.

We only stayed for one night but had an amazing stay. The room, bar and restaurant area were beautiful. The staff were very attentive throughout our stay Would highly recommend and will definitely Stay again.

Nice hotel with well appointed and clean rooms. Breakfast cooked to order and very good quality.

The room was lovely and nearly kept. The Wi-Fi connection was also great. There were a few spiders in the bathroom but I suspect you can expect that from any countryside Inn. The price was a bit high as well but it's at a good location for getting into Cookham or Maidenhead.

Typical country English pub. Cumberland Sausage and Mash with Gravy & Onion, the food here is outstanding. Given this place a 5 Star Rating due to the englishness of the whole place. Really nice staff here too.

Friendly staff, good food, lovely atmosphere. I'd thoroughly recommend this place, especially if the weather is good. The menu is very varied, with a wide range of adventurous fish, meat and veggie dishes and traditional fare as well. It's also a fantastic location for car watching, as many of the wealthy locals come here in their Ferraris and Maseratis.

Checked in to The Chequers Inn in late May 2017 as part of a wedding group of over 25 or so, and we were immediately very impressed with the very friendly staff, the old building, the great pub fare and fine array of draft beers etc. We were accommodated in their recently finished new "annex", a new build, well designed with architecture that blended in very well with the original building and I must say that on entering the room one was most impressed with the large space of the room, the good sized bathroom and good looking fixtures and fittings throughout — essentially "good-looking mod cons" We did notice the room was a tad warm BUT it was one of those rare WARM May days in the UK but one's expectation was that it would cool down to enable a good night's sleep. HOWEVER — a couple of things that really let them down:
1) There was absolutely NO ventilation in the room unless you opened the French Doors out to the patio — we were in a ground floor room and thus allowing access to all manner of country wild life and persons walking past! Surely in this day and age one would expect either Air Conditioning, or at the very least some air flow device — perchance a ceiling fan? Suffice to say the room did NOT cool down any!

Can I just say thank you for a lovely evening spent at the The Chequers Inn last night in celebration of several special birthdays. There were nine of us and all the food was lovely. The staff were just the right balance of friendly, attentive and professional. Exactly what I wanted — great food and great service — not much to ask but so rare to find!

Fabulous meal at the Chequers, a great way to start half term. I had the Heritage Beetroot starter, which was amazing. With beetroot sorbet! Luscious. Then the best haddock and chips I've ever eaten: melt in the mouth fish in crispy batter with chunky chips. And then it would have been rude not to try a dessert (although I was pretty full by then) : divine chocolate mousse. Thanks, Nick. We will be back.

Always nice for a friendly get-together Lovely pub in nice location, good food. Sadly there is extension work happening which is depriving us locals of the previously very lovely, spacious and friendly beer-garden in favour of more guestrooms being built. Still — friendly service and a decent selection of food, parking being generally available and easy to get to makes us go back time and again. We just wish the extension weren't happening for purely selfish reasons.

Great ambiance, with good food and a wide selection of drinks. The staff are friendly and quick. An ideal venue for Sunday lunch.

Decent pub lunch! I come here with a friend during my lunch break sometimes, it's easy to park and the beer garden is lovely. There's a decent selection of sandwiches which are great for a quick bite to eat.

Nice pub, lovely garden but I had a ploughman lunch which was nothing short of disgusting, put me off eating there again. Should have know as when we arrived to a free table in the garden there were three lunches almost untouched and left.

Really pleasant surprise! We were staying overnight nearby and made a last-minute booking for Sunday lunch. The Chequers Inn was able to accommodate us in the dining room, and the food was exceptional. The three course menu, while formal for a Sunday, was great value and far exceeded the level of standard pub fare.

Disappointed. The Chequers handily serves food all day on Sundays, sadly that meant being served two limp and lifeless roast dinners which were luke warm and lacked any flavour. Roast beef, roast pork, one pint of lager and a small red wine — £34. Let's not go back. There are MUCH better pubs in the local area.
