This was £20. Pathetic. Side of broccoli was raw, unseasoned. Didn’t take pic of other main but was a chicken breast with an egg on top. Mentioned all this to waiters, couldn’t care less. Value for money here is terrible, especially with so many other great places to eat within a few miles. Garden infested with wasps also. Couldn’t pay me to eat here again, and after 10 years of high end restaurant reviewing, I’ve never said that.

Great location, really good food, plenty of choice too. Great selection of beers and wines. The food was superb. Loads of tables and also a great outside space for sunny days.

One of our dishes was crispy tarragon chicken. It wasn't crispy, no tarragon taste and the chicken was so dry it couldn't be eaten. The waitress was wonderful and took the dish to the chef, whose comment was — that's how it comes. Not impressed! The manageress meekly offered an alternative or anything else from the menu at no extra cost but we were put off and upset by the chef's attitude. Only the price of the chicken was take off the bill. What a shame this happened as we had explained it was my birthday treat. Lovely waitress and surroundings.

Stopped here breakfast. Their "Proper Bacon Sandwiches" are a real treat, however we were most disappointed with the "Selection of fruits, juices and yoghurts" which turned out to be a large bowl of yogurt topped with one strawberry and 4 blueberries. We also had boiled eggs with soldiers but the eggs weren't runny so couldn't dip, only given 4 little soliders which again was very stingy. Mostly expensive for what you get, but bacon sandwiches good value. Sitting outside in their garden for breakfast on a beautiful spring morning priceless.

Pretty poor experience from a gastroenterologist that had much promise. Ok it was a Sunday evening but that shouldn't excuse the staff appearing disinterested. There were only two of us but somehow they missed one of our starters and when the "artisan" cheese board was presented the waitress didn't know the provenance of the miserly slices of Brie and Stilton… Bog standard Tesco fayre I expect but for£10 a bit more effort is needed. Including wine £137 for two is not vfm.

Lovely place but have to say disgusting mark up on wine! I ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Costs £9.45 online but here cost £30 a bottle! Rip Off! I appreciate it’s a restaurant but that is an exorbitant price and your taking your customers for a ride! Thats putting it mildly!

Nice village pub. Great discounts for John Lewis employees. Good restaurant.

We and a function room, away from the crowds which was nice but seemed we were forgotten by the staff a bit. Food very nice.

I always enjoy visiting, whether it is just for drinks outside, or for a full blown dinner in the restaurant. Would recommend booking for food as it gets very busy at peak times. Food is delicious, that's all that can be said. When it is a birthday occasion, the staff would bring out a few brownies on a wooden board which was a nice touch.

Really enjoyed the food. Very good service. Staff handled our group of eleven without a hitch. Recommended.

Simple, well made up bedrooms with a quality finish. Lovely touch of a bottle of sloe gin in the room, which was kindly topped up before we returned to our room in the evening. Breakfast was great and the staff create a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Only negatives: needs accessible power point for phone chargers / hair dryer and the room was very warm and couldn't open windows for some fresh air. Great value and enjoyable stay would highly recommend.
