Hotel is lovely and crazy Thai restaurant amazing The English restaurant was not up to scratch, had to return very average food and very disappointed with the service.

Friendly staff, quick service (but not too quick) loooovely food.

What an absolutely beautiful and I mean beautiful place to eat … the food was fantastic and the staff also … I’m very fussy in eating and even more in the service that I get. Both were A 10/10. Thank you so much we will be back.

Absolutely amazing, the food and the service was beyond perfect… And the decor was just amazing… Had a really lovely time.

After paying £400 for a very small room. Drainage didn’t work in the shower so water just gushed into the bedroom. £16 per cocktail with added service charge. £12.50 for a bottle of water that was already in the room. We paid £67 each for the 7 course menu that just felt really rushed out to you. Food was not amazing as what you would expect. Lovely hotel and you can see the effort that has been put in. But the eye watering prices are ridiculous. £12.95 a shot of sambuca. 😂 Have been to some lovely hotels. We are not shy on spending if the service is right. But however very disappointed with the crazy bear. Even with your £400 room there is not even tea or coffee to make in the morning. Gutted really.

We had the most stunning meal the Chateaubriand was amazing, with wonderful flavours and mouth watering sauces! honestly was it stunning would definitely recommend.

Stayed here last night … beautiful 🤩 very eccentric, I’m surprised this hotel isn’t in Essex 😂 lovely decor. Great drinks / service / food. Only couple of negatives were towels and bath robes needed some comfort on them, tea and coffee facilities is a complete must in a hotel room, not sure why they weren’t in here 🤔 and a run of the mill Thai green / red curry would’ve been a welcome addition to the Thai menu. Also they’re missing a trick here in the lounge bar: as it’s very eastern it’d have been good to have the choice to do shisha 😄 all in all, lovely night away IF you can get it for a deal and not pay full price for it 😊

Staff are very friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for you. Overall its quite pricey but is good for a special occasion. We enjoyed our stay. The Thai restaurant was very nice where we had our evening meal. The Contential breakfast was abit basic but was nice that we could take up to the room while getting ready to leave.

First time here and it was AMAZING! Starting from the reception downstairs to fantastic table allocation in the restaurant. Quirky but sophisticated ambience and out of this World food. Staff couldn't do more to make us feel welcome all under the great managerial skills of Thomas.

Overall it was a fabulous place for our 20 year anniversary. Can’t fault the staff. Everyone was so polite, helpful and happy. We would have liked to have had a tour when we arrived as it was our first time and wasn’t aware of the Moroccan Bar outback and would have liked to have sat out back after our meal. For my dinner the potatoes was very salty and veg was burnt. In our room, 26, it’s next to the road and it’s was noisy. We was on the bottom floor and could hear when people came in the building and the room above we could hear walking around and the bed moving when they had sex. In the morning there was no coffee, tea or kettle for a cuppa that was needed to get me up after drinking so much. Apart from this it’s a great place.

Fantastic experience, quirky design and always enough people on hand to help. Nothings for free but you get what you pay for and a little indulgence now and again is ok. The Thai was amazing, twelve courses of absolute bliss. If we could critique anything, the service whilst in the pool was not there, saved me as we would have sat in the jacuzzi for hours drinking but that’s as bad as the critique gets. Cracking job Crazy Bear and your team.

Wow! I loved the decor of the crazy bear, shabby chic. Food was delish, staff were friendly, attentive, and happy. Have been a couple of times now to the one in Hampshire, and took my mummy there for the experience when she was on holiday from Australia and she loved it too! Highly recommended.

I have been to the Thai restaurant twice. The second time was to celebrate my mums birthday and we had a disappointing experience. As soon as we sat down the waitress wanted our complete order. I explained we would prefer to order the mains after we had our starters but was told I only have two hour slot. She also said management had told her to say this to customers. I was extremely disappointed. This restaurant is not cheap and when paying those prices you should not be rushed. If I wanted to be rushed I would have gone to McDonald’s. The fact was we we’re done within an hour and half but that comment completely ruined our night. It’s a shame as I really like the decor and the food is of a good standard but I would not return.

Crazy bear, what can I say! Amazing! Well worth the money. The suite we had was amazing. Enjoyed every moment and the food was amazing. Glass of Champagne on arrival and bottle on ice in the room. Perfect!

Managed to wangle a room here cheap when our agency messed our reservation up… excellent reception by the fro t of house staff who reassure you when you walk in surprised… it really is a different place. The bar was a good spot to chill out and you felt relaxed too. The bedrooms are quite special though the copper tub I had wanted a but of a scrub if in honest. Breakfast was great and I didn't feel I needed to order additional to the included. Just a shame I was with work and not the wife.

Lovely meal bought for us as Xmas present, a labyrinth of rooms full of chandeliers, padded booths, sumptuous padded chairs, candles and wonderful smells, lots of waiting staff so got served quite quickly, food was amazing would highly recommend the (in house) strawberry cheesecake! The bill includes service charge by the way (13%) and a visit to the lavish rest rooms is a must before you leave (be prepared to be dazzled) ☺

We were so disappointed with this visit. Having been before we were really looking forward to a repeat visit. The cocktails were amazing as always however the service and then the Thai restaurant has really let the place down. We ordered the 12 plate sampling menu but despite the fairly hefty price tag the quality of the food was very poor. The meat was dry and non of the dishes had much flavour at all and we found them very bland. The service only included bringing the food to the table. There was no interaction, no care whether we enjoyed the food or not — not even prompted by them taking back nearly all the meat uneaten. It was due to that that we decided (for the first time ever anywhere) to ask the discretionary service charge of 13.5% to be removed. Even this didn’t prompt anyone to enquire as to why we may be unhappy with our experience. It seems to me there is an injection of new management needed to get this place back to its former glory and exceptional service.

I was quite frustrated by my stay here. There was a real mix of positives and negatives. It needs a good manager to come in a make a few small changes to get this to a 5 star place. Negatives: — 13.5% service charge on everything you order, even if you're staying at the hotel. — no doors on the toilet in room. — no tea or coffee in the room. — staff were quite rude and didn't put the customer first (numerous different examples of this). — door lock didn't work. Positives: — excellent decor. — good choice of drinks. — food was tasty. — peaceful and relaxing.

The service was lovely, the place is lovely, the food is average at best. Fur coat, no knickers. Sorry guys but you need to up your game with the food, I’ve eaten better in my local pub.

A very unique venue with a one off feel to it! Our stay was very comfortable and the food was excellent. We had our food included on the room tariff. But even with a kind of set menu the food was truly excellent. This venue does have a fair amount of taxidermy on display so prepare yourself for that! Cocktails went down very well indeed!

One of the best hotels I have been to even though it is certainly very expensive to stay in. The service was fantastic and the rooms are absolutely amazing. The decadent theme of this hotel just adds to the brilliant experience we had staying here. The food is delicious and would definitely recommend a visit for a drink if not a stay in this hotel.

Thai 3 course meal for two. Food wasn't great. Wine list was small. Waiters were snobby. Wouldn't recommend. The building, and Beaconsfield in general, is very pretty however.

Very unique and interesting place. Bedrooms (especially suites) are well designed and have a luxurious feel. A bathtub in the bedroom that fills from the ceiling and under floor heating in the bathroom were very nice features.

Very quirky funky place. Mostly in darkness to add to the ambience. Fabulous food. Beautiful opulent decor. Lots of mirrors and crystals everywhere. There's no real open spaces it's all booths and 2 seater sofas in corners, so really gorgeous. Theme is probably Africa with chandeliers. If you want something different it's perfect. Bathrooms are stunning!

Lovely rooms lovely staff food is very poor we paid for breakfast when booking the room only to find out that this is only for a continental breakfast. Had to a extra £12 each. For a full English breakfast which came with half a mushroom uncooked eggs cheap beans had better food in a hospital definitely not worth the £800 Bill for one night if you are going to charge top dollar food should be a lot better. Hope this helps.

Having been to the London branch many times, I was excited to have one close to home. However, I found the service virtually non existent with cocktails taking over 30 minuets to arrive and no where to sit to enjoy our overpriced drinks. Certainly not somewhere I would rush back to, which is a shame as local.

Very swanky, beautiful place. Enjoyed a very nice mothers day lunch and delicious cocktails at the bar. Would love to go back and stay at the hotel and enjoy the outside in the summer.

I’ve been aware of the Crazy Bear hotels for years and have wanted to go to one as soon as I laid eyes on them. I absolutely loved the photos on the website, the rooms looked so luxurious! My boyfriend took me on the weekend for Valentine’s Day and I’m afraid to say I was pretty underwhelmed. It was a combination of lots of little things but overall I came away feeling pretty disappointed. The photos are in my opinion, slightly deceiving, as the room was a lot smaller than I had imagined. It was also extremely dark which turned out to be a huge inconvenience when I was trying to get ready the next day using the only mirror in the bathroom. Of which, was a kind of ‘wet room’ therefore the entire floor was soaked because I had had a shower. These things may seem trivial but add them all together along with the ridiculously priced drinks and a few other things and I just felt like it hadn’t lived up to my expectations. The decor itself looked as if it could have had potential but somehow didn’t feel right, as if it had been rushed, I just felt as though I was staying in any old hotel minus the crazy furnishings.

Beaconsfield is such a great venue. You can get better food in other restaurants, but the setting is just so different and unusual that you go for the crazy bear experience. I've been here probably about 4 times now and it's easily one of my favourite hotel / restaurants to go to.

Bar — Arrived early for Thai Lunch so went to the bar for a quick drink, most tables reserved so could not sit down anywhere apart from a table for two suitable for midgets! Crazy bar! Thai Restaurant, over priced (set menu), food not piping hot and lost in translation comes to mind. Asked for Dry Martini got a Dirty Martini. Asked for 12 Plate Sharing Menu for 2, got the Signature Set menu for 2… (£13 pp more) which is more expensive at £62.50 pp! Food was good though! Service is good, friendly and good luck finding the toilet… all part of the experience. DO NOT GO FOR SET MENU, order individually.

Great hotel, and loved everything… Except our radiator was stuck on high which made the room u comfortable. As windows open meant noisy traffic. They are looking into it for us though and hope we get another chance to go. Thai food was delicious.

Avoid if you want 5 star luxury as this hotel although looks nice on the website, isn't maintained correctly and we found it to be way below the normal standards we expect from 5 stars. There was several smashed mirrors in our room, damp stains on Walls and ceiling, headboard was filthy, plug socket hanging off etc due the standard of the room I though I'd better check the bedding and I wish I hadn't as it was filthy also, stained pillows stained mattress protector stained duvet! In addition to the bedding the room was full of dust and the windows looked like the hadn't been cleaned for weeks. We did complain straight away and again on leaving, unfortunately he staff were not interested, we also sent an email to the coy and all we had was very poor excuses. The room cost nearly £600 for one night, and I have to say I've slept in better for £120 per night.

Staying in a deluxe room for two nights. Staff were always very helpful. We couldn't find a comfortable setting on the air conditioning; we found a perfect setting for the night but every setting we tried in the days were a little hot. We had dinner on the first night and it was excellent.

Well, we didn’t actually make it to the hotel but the customer service we’ve experienced is appalling and I felt it worth writing a review about for others. We had booked a birthday get away but unfortunately we’ve had really heavy snowfall and it would just be too risky to drive. I didn’t see this being a problem, called the hotel over 24 hours in advance to warn them and was given an email address. I’ve had no reply to the email so called again this morning to be told management have said no rebooking and no refunds! They could not give a number for a manager and did not seem bothered beyond saying the money would still be taken. We do understand but as we all know the weather this week has been exceptional and I would have expected some compassion or understanding. We’re very disappointed. … they then rang us on the evening to ask why we weren’t there?

Absolutely disgusting. Booked a suite for one night for the cost of £449… Suite 6 at Crazy Bear Stadhampton. It was cold, dirty and in desperate need of refurbishment or at least a deep clean! We arrived at 1pm and ate in the bar while we waited for the room to become available. The food was fine, although as it was a burger and a club sandwich, there’s not a lot to go wrong! At 3pm we were shown to the room. It was cold, dusty, the TV had 4 channels (all of which fuzzy), there was mould & mildew all over the bathroom, the sink didn’t drain, the floor was peeling and there were hairs and limescale in the bath. We were thoroughly disappointed and disgusted. We called for the manager who came up to the room, he was unapologetic and casually explained they were fully booked so we could not be moved. He then said that if we chose not to stay, unless they could resell the room we would not be refunded. Another manager then came up who was more apologetic and who agreed the room was substandard but also refused to return our money despite the fact we were no longer staying (due to it being filthy! ). He explained that refunds had to go through Head Office and that I should email them. We left shortly later, having emailed the ‘feedback team’ with our complaints, photographs and requesting our money back. No reply. I emailed again on Monday morning requesting a response… I am still waiting for a reply! I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this place!

Its quite an experience visiting here and one I wpuld highly recommend. Cocktails in the bar to start followed by and really lovely meal. The Chateaubriand and Lobster being the highlight and it was divine. Service was impeccable and we shall definitely be returning and will perhaps maybe stay the night next time!

Been for afternoon tea — the only place I've been where if you ask for the Gluten Free option they charge you £10 extra!
My afternoon tea was £50! And I got 4 fingers of sandwich (they tasted very nice) 2 scones and 3 very dry, small bought in cakes.
No offer of extra tea or sandwiches — not great.

I had a Thai massage at the Crazy Bear lasting an hour. The masseuse was professional and friendly and I really felt relaxed and comfortable from the moment she welcomed me. The massage was carefully done and the room was appropriately lit with calming music to balance the ambience.

We were nearly put off by the many negative reviews (and more importantly the hotel's complete indiference & lack of response to them), but our experience was extremely positive. The decor is fabulously over the top but somehow works and the rooms make most other hotel rooms look very safe and dull. Drinking here is pricey but you are paying for the surroundings so it is to be expected. We opted for the Thai meal and it was extremely tasty (but you do need to spend extra for any sides or nice options). The continental breakfast was lovely and very few people opted to 'upgrade' to a cooked breakfast for an additional £12 per person, probably because it was unnecessarily expensive when you have already paid for bed & breakfast. We loved our stay here and would recommend it to anyone.

This place is naff and a complete joke of a restaurant. The decor is strange and tacky and not in a cool quirky way — padded cushioning on the walls with faux taxidermy dotted around … why? The toilets look like they got all the mirrors in the world and put it in one room … I get that it's called Crazy Bear and it's trying to do something different, however, this definitely isn't the way to go about it. I could forgive the ostentatious decor if the service was great but the staff are rude and obnoxious. Waiter was asked which way do they recommend the lobster being served to which a shrug of the shoulders was provided … he had voice which could have been used. Three times during the course of the meal the waiter came to ask if we were finished even though one party still had their knife and fork in hand and steak on the plate. Then to top it off once the bill was paid (service charge inc. ) and we were finishing off conversation the waiter proceeded to say in these exact words "come on guys we have bar you can move to" … there were countless empty tables around us and paired together with the tone used was completely impolite. It's basically a conveyor belt for them and if it was busy and there were people waiting to be seated we would have of course left immediately. The food was alright but pricey for the quality and cooking — lobster was tough. Would never set foot in here again. No style nor substance.

Booked a Thai massage for the Mrs and myself. It was superb and relaxing. Friendly and very helpful staff. Had a drink at the bar after the massage and then went to the Thai restaurant a few doors down. Food was delicious and service was fast. Trendy place, great place for socialising and would recommend for like minded people happy to spend a bit for a premium experience.

Pleasant place to spend an afternoon with friends and family, afternoon tea is excellent — good sandwiches, lovely scones and cakes and a good selection of teas. Waiting staff all very smart and polite. We had two small children with us who were allowed to share our sandwiches which was nice for them. Just watch out for a few sharp edges on the tables out the back… We bought our afternoon tea through Groupon, which offered quite a discount on the full price.

I happened upon The Crazy Bar on the way back to the hotel very late, and I'm happy that I did. It is such a unique experience to dine there. The waiter was a sweetheart and took very good care of myself and my grandmother. Additionally, the interior decorations were marvelous. The food was delicious as was the Irish coffee!

Shockingly bad. Absolutely terrible food, crappy tiny rooms, everything overpriced, uncared for property that doesn't warrant even half of what they charge. Emailed to complain and they don't even bother responding — they couldn't care less.

The Thai/fusion food used to be good. It is no longer. It's lazy and expensive and lacks the flavour. Cocktails need a warning. Any with crushed ice give you about three sips and you're left with ice. I'm afraid this is a place firmly leaning back on its laurels and it needs to change. Very sad — used to beer high quality and cool. Lost it.

We visited the ground floor bar. The most bizarre interior you'll see in Beaconsfield: everything is stuffed animals with crystal necklaces, velour and gilt (you think I'm joking. I am not joking). Friendly service, lots of rather cramped seating, and a perfectly serviceable cocktail menu with some hidden gems. Does get very busy, and we had to wait for the first round. Not too cheap, but what do you expect? If you want good value cutting-edge cocktails, try the Treehouse down the road, but this is a fun and noisier alternative.

Great place town house rooms at the back of the hotel exceptionally small and cramped dining was excellent at the Thai resturant the hotel is broken up into three or more separate buildings with road crossings and the resturant down the road which adds to the quirkiness of the hotel DO not have room 11 as it is very small indeed service very good location is Beaconsfield a small very old village set in a cross roads you wont get any troubke from the neighbours as you overlook a grave yard to the old church Quiet and quirky in my opinion expensive for what it is there are other more quirkier hotels better value.

So I first booked a room with Crazy Bear Beaconsfield from their web site but then subsequently cancelled it and booked through Groupon where I got a 52% discount on the same room. As a special treat we had driven 2 hrs through London for a special romantic break at the hotel but 30mins away from the hotel the junior receptionist phoned me to say they didnt have a room available as the one booked was not ready and infact had some problems! You can imagine how furious I was. They were happy to give me a refund on my Groupon voucher! Probably had a customer paying their inflated full price! Never again will I touch this group.

Fun, quirky with amazing service and great food. Worth a visit for the cocktails and bar alone!

Very expensive. The rooms are lovley but dark. Thai food was terrible. Bin there done it wouldn't go back.

I was very let down by this hotel, they gave my room away without my permission and swapped it for a room not to my taste. When I complained they offered me a free stayed but when I tried to take them up on the offer I was passed from person to person for 2 months to then be told they were no longer honouring the offer!

Words two other people have used to describe this venue are 'pretentious' and 'w@nky' and I can't disagree. The food was edible, but not great and certainly not worth the money. The clientèle were cleverly disguised wearing mostly business dress on a Sunday evening but by the day would be better suited to reality TV. Dining here was an experience, but one never to be repeated. Make sure you use vouchers, no one eats here without using vouchers.

Design is very unique and creates an amazing atmosphere but the service is lacking concentration and doesn't seem to be well trained. In the restaurant, 3 people welcomed us, not even one asked to take our jackets, quality of food wasn't good either, ice-cream was a disaster, coffee was ordered but never received. All in all quality of the service nor food deserved the amount I've paid.

We went to the crazy bear in Beaconsfield. The service was brilliant. We ordered from their set menu and the food was fantastic! This is the second time I have been here. The first time I had afternoon tea which was also amazing! I would definitely recommend C/B Beaconsfield for any occasion. We had a girlie lunch date which was perfect.

Overall I had a great time here. The atmosphere in the rooms is very different to your usual hotel and thats what I enjoyed the most. Our room had a bathtub in the bedroom which was great but I was suprised to find that the toilet was only seperated by a curtain to the bedroom. I can imagine certain scenarios where this could kill any romance! I would recommend staying here if you are looking for something different and the thai food was fantastic.

My daughter was a given a £50 gift voucher from Crazy Bear as a Christmas present last year 2014 and due to circumstances beyond her control was unable to use the voucher before the expiry date. I have written to Crazy Bear and they are quite unsympathetic and refuse to budge in honouring this voucher or even offering her a 'good faith' offer. BUYERS BEWARE because this is how places like the CRAZY BEAR make money out of cash buyers. At this time of year people are looking for Christmas gifts so please remember, sometimes it is not easy to use the voucher within the given timescale and it would be far better to given the £50 in cash as CASH does not have an expiry date. Feedback on the Crazy Bear does seem that good anyway, so maybe she hasn't missed anything!

Delusions of Grandeur — Crazy prices We visited the English restaurant at the Beaconsfield venue but when you are charged £9.50 for a tomato juice (virgin), £4.50 for a minute plate of carrots and peas, £24.50 for fish & chips AND there is no Michelin star in site, you know something has gone wrong. Amusingly there is no sign at all outside of the restaurant so you cannot locate the venue very easily, it is as if the owners are embarrassed to highlight how to get into the place because of these crazy price. Don't get me wrong, the décor is great, the place is different, service and the food was good BUT the prices are shocking. To top this the bread plate with butter knife suggests you will be given a roll or bread as standard BUT this is an EXTRA charge, which is frankly outrageous. We will not be coming here again because you can never justify overcharging people and thinking you are a top Central London venue with a top top chef, when you are not. The staff are attentive and know their script (albeit a bit too pushy) but without any Michelin stars the price can never be justified. A friend of ours asked before we went to let them know how the evening goes because they would love to visit for a celebration in a few weeks. After we told them about the price they will not be eating here.

Will not be returning. We have visited several times over the last 2 years and always enjoyed the decor and have accepted the slow, often poor service. We have been overcharged in the past but staff have always been willing to rectify their mistakes, however not only has the food deteriorated but my husband has a nut allergy which we always make clear and this time his thai meal came covered in chopped nuts. The waitress offered to "scrape them of the top"! We were then told that none of the desserts could be guaranteed to be completely nut free. There are so many other restaurants.

Nice decor and great furnishings… However the substandard quality of food and the disproportionate cost of the meal was just abysmal… to top things of not only did they mot recognise our reservation when we arrived but when we ordered our cocktails they were not mixed properly, the first sip was just pure cordial! do not eat here!

Dreadful. Will not be returning. We have been several times for the ambience but the service had got slower each time. This time was a birthday celebration but we did not feel in celebratory mood when we had finished. Noone was there to greet us at the door and we had to interrupt staff chatting by the till. Cocktails were slow in coming. We werent told until after the starterwas served that there was no garlic. The wine did not come until the start despite being ordered beforehand. We waited almost an hour for the main course and were told they were very busy and we would have to wait. The sides were not as ordered. We felt an inconvenience rather than guests. The deposit taken on booking was not removed from the bill and we had to ask for it to be taken off. We paid an expensive price for average food and poor service. I wrote and complained and did not receive a reply. Spoilt our evening and we wish we hadnt gone.

Everything was fine generally until check out when they applied an automatic late check out charge of £20 to the room when we came down to check out slightly later than the 11AM we were advised — we were not notified of any charge AT ALL and the room was not rang to check if / when we were leaving (even budget hotels do this so why can't a 5* accomm with 4 receptionists working on he desk at the same time do this). This is after running up a good bar tab (at £15 per drink in the bar (! ) and my deciding to pay more for a superior room in the first place with us also eating a 7 course meal each in the restaurant, I'd like to think with what I spent overall we'd be seen as good customers. The receptionist was ice cold in how she dealt with it too. An inflexible overcharging set of sharks that I honestly feel don't deserve your money. Sadly a first and last time for me, we have friends who wanted to know how the place was with a potential to stay too, sadly this review will be passed on. Crazy Bear you need to review your stone cold approach and think about the long term a bit more.

Shocking service, shocking attitude of staff — such a disappointment when dealing with this supposed 'premium' organisation.

Having read the reviews on here I was very hesitant. The staff were helpful and extremely friendly. The service was wonderful and the food most excellent. It was our friends birthday and they made her feel special with drinks and desert. We had the set Sunday Lunch menu and it was lovely. Would certainly recommend.

Very expensive, small portions. But good experience overall.

I rarely write reviews but felt compelled to after an excellent one night stay here last weekend. We took advantage of an offer comprising a greatly reduced rate room, the 7-course english tasting menu and continental breakfast. Service at the front desk, in the restaurant, in the bar and at breakfast was excellent — I could not fault it. The room (we stayed in no. 7 — a deluxe room) was just stunning, especially the bath — it could not be more comfortable. The outside areas (pool, garden with sofas and pods and a gorgeous moroccan-style lounge) were wonderful for relaxing after our meal and after breakfast — the only problem was deciding where to lay (I would say 'sit' but we were horizontal for the most part! ). The food is expensive and is of a perfectly good standard but is not excellent; I would not choose to eat here without there being an offer. However you are not paying just for the food; more the ambience and decor which is the height of extravagance — if you realise this upfront then your expectations will not be dashed. If you want modern, comfortable and good value, go to Zizzis and stay at a Novotel.

Review is specific to the Thai restaurant only. Friendly staff, good tasting food (had the vegetarian premium tasting menu), overall enjoyable experience. Was apprehensive about visiting after reading the poor reviews prior to going but was pleasantly surprised. Doesn't get 5 stars as I felt the actual RRP for the menu (had a voucher) and wines available were overpriced.

Beautiful decor and great food but service was well below what I would have expected at somewhere a lot cheaper. Lots of things forgotten and mixed up with no apologies. 12.5% suggested service charge was outrageous considering. It was a club night so pretty busy and they clearly didn't have the staff for this. Waited 20 minutes at the bar for one drink and my friends did table service for drinks which took over half an hour. Also got taken advantage of for a taxi. I'm not local so asked for a number at the front desk where they offered to call me one. Turns out this was one of their own private ones for which they obviously charge a premium as it was £12 for a 5 minute drive. If they are going to charge such high prices for everything they really need to sort out the service to match.

I'm so horrible disappointed with this hotel. My partner and I booked a Secret Escapes offer for £300 to celebrate my birthday, I received confirmation of the booking through email and paid in full, but didn't get a call from the hotel to confirm a dinner reservation. I phoned myself to enquire, and the receptionist Lauren said there was no record of my booking — so I emailed over all confirmation and receipt and was told to wait over the weekend as Secret Escapes would be closed. I phoned Secret Escapes myself — they were open and very helpful, the booking was confirmed and processed through their system. I waited another day without hearing anything from Crazy Bear and decided to phone myself — they still couldn't locate my booking and were now fully booked on my birthday. After asking to speak to the manager I was put through to a Duty Manager who had no idea what was happening, couldn't explain any of my concerns, and offered to move my booking (which is useless, as it's a birthday event) I'm now trying to find a last minute alternative with no word from Crazy Bear to explain what's happened or where my money is. The worst customer service I've ever encountered at a hotel, please spend your money with better companies.

I was extremely disappointed. Stayed here for 1 night in April on a Sunday, No signs up saying where it was, walked straight past it. We waited in reception for about 5 minutes before someone finally got off the phone and saw to us. Checked in and were then told to go across the road to where our rooms where. We weren't even escorted to it. The building across the road was completely empty with no other guests or staff. Our rooms door wouldn't lock properly, we had to try it 4 or four times every time we left, a bit annoying. The room was ok, it was dusty (and its smelt pretty dusty too). No tea or coffee, JUST water. The room was quite dark, but we did know that before we went. One of the lamps was broken and the bulb wasn't working. The soap provided was pointless, not even enough for one person. The dinner in the English restaurant was delicious, but the staff weren't that helpful and tried to charge us separately for the meal even though we had told them TWICE already that it was already paid for). Once again, whoever was at reception was too busy on the phone for another 5 minutes to check us out, which is quite annoying especially when you have a train to catch. The only great thing about my trip was that I didn't pay full price as we bought a groupon voucher. I wouldn't stay at the hotel again, but I would eat at the restaurant again as it was lovely.
