Wow! What an awesome hotel with wonderful staff! We flew in to heathrow from Houston and drove straight to the hotel. On the way our check tire light came on but decided to continue. When we arrived at the hotel, William Thomson, the head concierge, immediately called enterprise and arranged for somebody to come and deal with the issue. He was amazing. Having never been to oxford, he answered all of our questions and more. The hotel is wonderfully located and the rooms was very comfortable, but Mr Thomson was definitely a big plus and would be a reason to come back and stay again.

Worth every penny. Lovely welcome from the parking attendants who had parked the car for me before I knew it. Only £32 for the night. Make sure you get all your stuff ready as we had to make 2 more visits to the car for coats and other forgotten goodies. There is a public car park just down from the hotel on Gloucester Street which costs £25 for 24 hours. We arrived early but our room was ready over an hour before advertised. Beautiful room and friendly, helpful staff. The spa has a fab 5-roomed thermal suite (mixture of saunas, steam rooms and ice room) with jacuzzi too — no swimming pool. We had no problem booking the thermal suite when we arrived. Can recommend the deep tissue massage. Perfect location for the centre of town and the Morse champagne cocktail was absolutely delicious. Special mention for the lovely duty manager on shift Saturday night (26th May 2018) who enjoyed the thunder and lightning storm with us in the bar in the early hours. We will be back for sure.

Stopped in for dinner, while the food was very nice, found the service did not live up to the 5 star rating of the hotel. Wine was served with spillage down the stem and similarly the coffee was served in it's own slops. Both glass of wine and coffee were overly priced. For 6pm on a Saturday, there were very few clients, which made for a very somber atmosphere. The only real plus was sitting next to the window watching the hustle and bustle of the passing shoppers outside. To act as a 5 star restaurant, staff could do with more training and in general needs to adapt with modern times to reflect customers needs.

Lovely place and so friendly! Great food, amazing service. Staff were very accommodating with our two-year old too. Would go there more often if I could afford to.

Was given a voucher for a three course meal as an anniversary present. We had an amazing time. The service was brilliant and the food was delicious. It was very cosy and was perfect for a romantic dinner. Would love to go again. Couldn't fault them at all.

5star hotel in oxford! In heart of oxford city. They have a spa, but u need to pay extra for that — very cosy space. I had massages — was a blast. Manicure — no no! This is not a good place to get one. Jacuzzi — small but there also is 3 steam rooms and ice room, Small gym and relaxation room. So everything you need to get yourself relaxed. rooms are nice, restaurant — great. U can also book the room for parties. — pricey but worth the money. The waiting staff 5 star. All the staff are very friendly and if you are lucky enough u can meet all sorts of celebrities in there. :) toilets are clean.

I've been staying at the Randolph hotel for the past year and have seen a progressive decline in service. Based on my most recent stay, 2 weeks ago, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I had to complain for 3 days before the lack of adequate heat was addressed in my room. The space heater which was in my room was not working. Despite complaining every morning, I would come back to my room late night to find it non-functional. After 4 days of complaining about the lack of hot water in my room, I just had to give up. I was just happy that they partially fixed the poor shower drainage after 3 days so that when I got out of the shower, I didn't have soapy or dirty feet. If this your ideal service, then by all means don't hesitate to stay, but it certainly is not mine. I was told that the hotel manager would contact me within the week after my departure — — — I have not been contacted as of yet. This is how they've treated a regular.

The hotel is looks really nice on the inside and outside. We were upgraded to a better room without asking which was nice. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. The restaurant and bar in the hotel are both good as well. Check their website for all the different deals and packages that the hotel does for city breaks/spa weekends to get the best value for money.

Had a really nice day in the spa followed by cream teas. Fantastic and classy hotel and restaurant with wonderful staff. Planning another visit for the future, hopefully with an overnight stay as well.

My husband and I stayed at the Randolph for our Silver Wedding Anniversary. The staff couldn't have been more helpful if they tried. My husband has Parkinson's Disease and the staff were marvellous. The food in the Acanthus Restaurant was fabulous. There was a step up into the bathroom in our room, but it wasn't a problem, as my husband and I were able to use the doorframe up and down it. There were lifts to all floors and staff were always there to help and advise when necessary. I didn't want to come home.

This is a pleasant hotel but not 5 star. There is no provision for disabled parking. The hotel will park your car for an expensive £32 per night. We stayed on the second floor. There was a bad drainage smell from the bathroom. Price wise very good. Providing umbrellas was great as it didn't stop raining. The concierge also loaned me an android phone charger. Thank you. It would be good to have lorne sausage with the cooked breakfast. The staff were polite and attentive.

Shabby, down — at — heel footpads place now and a very pale reflection of its former glory. Surprised the fire safety people have not condemned it's patchwork quilted wiring easily visible on each staircase floor ceiling. Needs complete physical and commercial refurbishment. Amazed it manages any stars, let alone the five that it is clinging onto, travesty.

Lovely historical hotel but this is not five star service. Grossly understaffed, we watched a party of 7 walk out of the dining room in sheer frustration. The staff appear to be untrained and rattled. Was told by concierge we have to find our own babysitter. Club lounge not sufficiently stocked on arrival for a simple cup of tea. 1900 pounds for 3 nights would be related to location rather than the service. Would recommend other options…

Stayed here over the weekend of 9/10 December. Got upgraded to Executive room, valet parking and all round lovely hotel. There was one problem with the upgraded room whereby the room heating was not functioning as it should but the acid test for these situations is how these problems are dealt with and on this front also, the Randolf came up to mark in their handling of the problem/complaint. After trying to fix the controls they decided it would be far easier to upgrade us again to a suit and also provide us with a bottle of wine of our choice. The concierge, reception staff and all others we came into contact with were fantastic. Always say you cannot complain about a hotel if the complaints you may have had are dealt with professionally and with courtesy and on this front the Randolf score top marks and made our weekend a very special one indeed.

Went for a company Christmas party. The place was amazing, as was the food. Also was not left waiting between courses. The music for the rest of the night was fantastic. I would absolutely love to visit again.

I studied at Oxford 99-03 and Randolph was the grande dame of the city. The place your parents would take you for that special lunch. I spent the night last night and it felt like your spotty faced teen cousin in his fathers badly fitting Saville Row suit. Elegant bones but the flesh has gone saggy. The staff at the front desk were decidedly average. The room had potential (high ceilings, large comfortable bed) but no character, a freezing bathroom and very loud extractor fans all night outside my windows. I spent £185 on the room expecting a lot. It felt like a £99.99 type of experience. A pity.

I had a four-night stay. Perfect location. Clearly it's an old place, but we'll maintained. My room was neat, clean and roomy. I had an Executive King.

Very friendly staff and nice rooms. For a 5 star hotel however, the restaurant was not bad but not great either. Would recommend the hotel though!

Great location. In-house dining food not the greatest. Wonderful spa. High standard for the UK, but not globally for a 5 star hotel.

Room hired for an event, staff very helpful and polite. Would recommend based on staff alone! The cream tea looks amazing and will be sampled at some point!

This hotel is just not worthy of a 5 star rating. The entrance is dingy and dark, reception staff are ok, first room we were shown was small, smelled of smoke and dirty carpet. Moved to a better one but only because we complained. We spent a fortune on a two night stay and it was disappointing. The bar is literally the most dull place in the world and the poor lone barman took so long to get to us we left.

Dire. The restaurant markets itself as the best afternoon tea in Oxford. Service is incredibly slow especially as the choices are limited. There only seemed to be two staff serving, one of which had his exposed rear in clear view for part of the time, and appeared in the dining room clearly still adjusting himself after visiting the bathroom. After about an hour we eventually received some drinks, the food followed after a further 20 minutes. The food was incredibly disappointing. Firstly we didn't get the correct number of servings and the waitress then argued that we had what we ordered. The Vegans were presented with a bowl of raspberries, yes a bowl of raspberries instead of an afternoon tea. I understand that catering for Vegans can be difficult but surely a five star hotel should be able to cope a little better than that. When we complained two sandwiches were provided. Truly appalling. The standard teas were less than exciting. The scones could have been made in a school cookery class, the sandwiches were dry, the cakes ordinary (bought). At one point I did try to remind myself that this should be amazing and how the surroundings are special and historic, but in truth I have had better afternoon teas at the local garden centre. My advice save your money and go to a local tea room, or try anywhere else.

Very British, and it's not a compliment… 5 stars that in Paris, for example, you will never allow. All limited, rooms so so. Friendly staff, exorbitant costs.

Way overpriced for a supposed 5 star hotel. The building itself is beautiful from the outside and the entrance etc but our room was the standard of a 3/4 star. Very drab and dreary. I really wish I chose one of the 4 star hotels nearby instead as they were Alot nicer. The location is good though. The spa should have been complimentary for guests and it was quite dirty also. The breakfast tea was cold and they got our order wrong. We got our car back with a flat tyre but as it's BMW we didn't notice straight away as they run on flat tyres. They should put some of the money they make back into the standards of refurbishment. Very disappointed. The service was good though.

Some of the rooms are a loooong walk from the elevator lobby. Has a bit of a Fawlty Towers vibe. But it is super traditional, which is interesting in its own way. Rooms clean and beds comfy.

Lots of style and grandeur, but that comes with a very stiff atmosphere and adequate (high! ) prices. Staff far too formal and not naturally friendly. All in all, a proper hotel that just doesn't feel welcoming.

Nice view, convenient location, tasty breakfast, but service isn't that great for the price.

Macdonald Randolph Oxford. Room 320. Found the bed was not as confy as I expected and the pillows were way too big to use to sleep. Everything else was great!

A great night, I really enjoyed it, but food could have been better. We went for a company Christmas do an I felt that the turkey was overcooked, the Brussel sprouts were slightly undercooked, the sausage from the pigs in blankets were nothing special and the stuffing had no texture what so ever. All in all the food was very mediocre at a venue where I was hoping for better.

We had a nice 2-night stay there but would have expected more from a 5-star hotel. Heating didn't work properly (it kept blowing cool air into the room despite being set at highest temperature) and the "signature breakfast" was anything but spectacular. Still, the great location and the grandeur of the place make up for it. Room was nice too (executive).

This is a British 5 Star hotel. Do you really need to know more? Did I mention that it's directly across from the Ashmolian?

Be warned: We had afternoon tea at the Randolph Hotel today. After a walk in the rain we were looking forward to a good cup of tea, sandwiched and cakes. This is what we got after 40 minutes of waiting in a half empty tea room: ice cold and dry sandwiches (day old? ) with no taste whatsoever/tasteless eclaires so soggy that you could not cut them with a fork/ice cold and dry scones with a clotted cream full of clumps etc. For this lovely treat we (3 people) paid 115 GBP. Nothing was fresh or had any taste. A truly shameful and unappetizing experience.

Great hotel dtaff were helpful and friendly if you are looking for a nice place to stay look no further.

Amazing value, professional service. I was married down the road and stayed here on our anniversary, would defiantly do it again as very pleased with everything on both visits. Food is great, and for the money you really do get a great deal. I honestly don't think some of the 1 star comments on here can be real, definite 5 stars.

Nice place to stay. Inside design is not very good, but still makes some kind of affection. Breakfast choice is not very big. The location is the best thing about that place. Because this hotel located in the centre of the Oxford. It is big amount streets full of site seeings, shops and restaurant. Nearly all of the main site seeings are located around that hotel which can be reached by foot easily.

I love this hotel — it's so well-run and they really put the emphasis on making the guest's stay special. It's got enough character to be different but it's also very well outfitted. Top class — and a great wedding venue too.

More style. But no substance. We expected more from a 5 star hotel. Water pressure is rubbish in shower. Room service arrived 45 minutes late and only after I phoned TWICE. We had to pay £15 each to use spa facilities. My advice to the hotel management is to get the basics right first. Not value for money Only good for location.

Very dissapointing. I booked a room here for a treat after completing a 100 mile ultramarathon from London to Oxford, as it looked luxurious and had a spa where I hoped to relax. However, I arrived to use the spa, only to be told it was £15 extra per person for hotel guests. What kind of hotel charges extra on top of already pricey room fees for use of the spa? Other faults include handles broken off cupboards, pokey little room, improperly cleaned bathroom (hairs in the bath) and unable to use the elavators as they were in constant use by the staff. We were issued an apology at reception by very friendly desk staff, but not offered any refund. I would not stay here again.

Maybe 5 stars last century. Very little surface areas free on desks/tables in the room/bathroom. They have a 'gym', or rather poorly ventilated room with a treadmill and a few weights. Turns on music on the TV after the cleaning. Wifi internet has 50 % packet loss, go get a mobile data sim. poor water pressure in shower.
