The walk from the entrance to the room was a very long way and the food was a carvery every single night, would have liked a change, also it was uphill and difficult to get to shops if not a Walker.

Stayed here with Caladonian Travel, hotel is excellent, Huge Excellent sports bar, The ballroom is excellent was amazed at the side of it set on three levels all face a great stage area. Rooms well we upgraded our room to a new refurbished room as the hotel is having a large makeover and expansion it does not effect your stay or comfort in any way. Only thing that was lacking was there are a lot of stairs within but no lift in the part of hotel we were staying, The hotel and food is buffet service but it is top class. Entertainment is very good, overall first class stay. We will definitely return here again.

We strolled down for the Sunday carvery today after seeing it advertised and were pretty impressed. 🍗😃 Huge dining hall. Airy and well spaced tables. Can’t really say it had any ambiance. But this was Sunday Lunch where the focus is the food. Great for large parties or family get togethers as lots of other places only cater for parties of 6/8. Don’t need to book, the Reception issue you with a ticket on payment. Locals loyalty card is a good idea. Generous portions, good selection of 3 meats. I had the GREAT tasting beef, properly roasted pots and a good selection of well cooked veggies. Very tasty cauliflower cheese and roasted parsnips with proper crispy ends! All the trimmings too. Free water on tap but also bar service at the table of wines, beers and soft drinks. £8.95 was brilliant value. AND it includes a hot pud. Help yourself Bread and Butter Pudding with custard. Was crispy and lush. All in all. We will come again and I’m happy to Recommend.

Where do I start, nowhere to park and no suggestions from the staff. Waiters reaching across people still eating to get an empty plate form the other end of the table. The main bar not opening during the day when there is entertainment on in that room, the stair lifts not working. My partner can only drink hot water and the staff wouldn't help in any way we had to take the kettle from the room and hide it in the ballroom. At breakfast you can have hot water but evening meal you can't? The tables in the main room weren't wiped clean at all over the weekend. Tables in restaurant very sticky because not cleaned properly No Wi-Fi in room etc. Etc. The rock n roll was brilliant though.

Room very cold, given the hotel credit they have given us a heater?, food very nice, the 99p drinks is only for 1/2 pint doesn’t start till 8pm.

What an amazing hotel fantastic staff very helpful and polite, food fabulous definitely recommend, 5 stars.

It’s the worst hotel, We have ever stayed in. The rooms are disgusting. Would let my dog stay there. The staff where rude and un helpful. I don’t know who gives out the star ratings, but it’s not even worth one star to us. The food soup and carvery and one special everyday was boring. We stayed the 11 th July till 17 th. Won’t be visiting again. Part from the crappy service and room at the hotel, Torquay is beautiful, would visit again, but just choose a different hotel. Could go on etc.

Stayed three nights. Paid a small charge for upgraded room. The room was spacious and clean. Service in the restaurant was prompt and staff were very friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

We watched a magic show tonight and it was great to be entertained. All the staff worked hard keeping everything going.

Just come back from a 2night stay here with my 5 year old nephew, amazing from start to finish. Food was amazing, even made a separate meal of chicken nuggets and chips for my nephew! All staff very friendly and helpful. Definitely go for the upgraded room though! As the bed is so comfy! Will definitely be back.

We had one of the rooms that are yet to be refurbished, basic and dated but clean and ok for 1 night. The food was great, staff friendly and the hotel is just a short stroll from the town. Good sports bar with big screens and we had a giggle at the entertainment. I would stay again, thanks.

We had a beautiful refurbished room with walk in double shower. Though we were unhappy at charges if you wanted towels changed. The food was excellent, good entertainments room. Plus beautiful indoor pool & Jacuzzi. Short walk to beach or town.

Disappointing to be told decaf coffee only served in the morning none for the room not even a cup of instant to take up to our room
only 4 extra milks per room per day!

Went here last month with my husband and in laws and it was absolutely amazing, beautiful rooms, amazing food and the staff were pretty good, I will be revisiting this hotel with the same 3 in Dec now and absolutely cannot wait, highly recommended.

Just home after a 3 night stay here with my youngest daughter. Well we loved it. The staff in the restaurant was very attentive and friendly especially Christine. One of the chambermaids was so helpful (sorry I didn’t catch her name) and helped me with my bags. My daughter loved the pool. Great location with a short walk to the harbour which was beautiful. We will definitely stay here again. Oh and the third picture was my daughter not wanting to go home.

Fabulous Sunday lunch, really attentive service made for a great birthday for my granddaughter.

We were with National holidays. The hotel will be lovely when it is updated and the food was amazing. Will definitely return for a holiday. All the staff were polite and friendly and I had no complaints.

Me and my husband went on our honeymoon here last week really enjoyed our stay we loved the spa pool the upgraded room was nice and cosy we stayed here for a week breakfast was good staff were friendly good value for money per night including breakfast not far from town free parking as we booked few nights in a row rooms very clean great atmosphere wish we could of stayed longer :) defo would come back in the future :)

Stayed over the weekend and really enjoyed. Taking into consideration there are refurbishments being worked on, it was clean "Very" friendly staff. And good meals & entertainment. Some people you just cannot please.! it has a big Yes Tick from me and the rest of the coach trip that went on same trip. Will definatly go again.

Very poor place, I was ill first night I arrived got took away by emergency services! And they refuse refund or reschedule my week holiday! My room was very dirty and unhygienic! I don’t recommend this place to anyone! Staff are was poor and unprofessional!

When we got there we where given a room it was a nice room but it smelt of paint, the windows where wide open & it was on bottom level! We went to reception & asked the receptionist if it had just been painted! She was quite hostile & said yes! I said well it smells & I dont like the thought of leaving windows open on bottom floor as someone could get! She said we dont have no other rooms & I cant get a discount! So I asked for the manager who was sat there! He didnt introduce lamps & said he would investigate about a hour later he called the room said he had a room! We went to look it was very old fashioned, the side lamps didnt work, paper hanging on of the wall! very dark & the TV was to your side so you couldnt watch it! Someone was playing music at 7 in the money the landing was noisey & creaky! The staff didnt have no people skillls & I found where unaproachable! The room was 100 pound so nit cheap!

I've stayed for the burlesque Christmas weekend every year for 3 or 4 years now. Rooms are clean and comfortable, staff friendly, food great and brilliant entertainment. This hotel gives amazing value for money, you would struggle to have a meal out for the price I pay for dinner, b and b and a good night's entertainment. I'm so looking forward to my next stay in December and the refurbishment of the outside looks amazing, really fresh and classy. Xx (now saving for a longer weekend in the summer)

My only criticism was the pool — edge of pool had a build up of dirt around it and lift to floor 4 wasn't working but would stay there again.

A lovely 3 star hotel. Excellent food and entertainment each evening. Cabaret style showbar. Indoor swimming pool. The only downside was our room. It needs redecorating — shower was connected to the taps and the water temperature kept fluctuating between scolding hot and cold. It's changed it's name to the Riveara Hotel.

This hotel was close to the sea and value for money. The breakfast was excellent. The rooms really need to be refurbished but apart from that okay.

Just returned from 60/70 weekend should have said just 60s on arrival was given room key went to room opened door how disappointed was I dirty grubby room they had put double and single bed in so had to walk sideways went to ask for another room person on reception very rude was we only have 1 room left I asked could I take a look her reply was yes but you won't like it so of I go with the key after going down several flights of stairs and loads of corridors finally found out room which was outside and down the hill we were nearly at the beach dear God not much better but had no other choice the room stunk of stale sweat went to the shops to buy air spray. Then there's the food breakfast was ok plenty of choice evening meal awful no choice at all roast every night or vegi meal that was it entertainment was ok but was stated different show every night not! The same show every night drinks at the bar cheap and nasty saw staff going to shop for cheap coke would I stay here again never in a million years.

5 stars for the food and facilities, and the friendliest of the staff. However, that being said the rooms were dated and not up to a standard that I woluld expect. But despite this we had a wonderful stay (party of 6) over the Easter holidays, the waiters and waitresses were some of the most nicest people, and made our stay more comfortable. We will definitely be coming back!

Stayed for 7 nights, dinner b&b. Clean rooms with coffee, tea, goods showers, TV, comfy beds. Wifi available in most rooms. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. Great choice of food with help yourself breakfast and carvery dinner, both all you can eat! Would definitely stay again!

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in, in all my life. Stay away, do not go there. Filthy stinking room, ceiling hanging down, one electricity socket. Could'nt boil a kettle if telly was on. Bathroom was covered in mould! Absolutely terrible!

We had such a lovely break at Easter manager @ all the stall were just outstanding. Food self service Was fantastic. Folks ignore the bad comments they must Be just moaners, can't wait for our next visit.

Room was clean and comfortable. Decor was pleasant. Shower could have been better. Only 6 foot tall but found I needed to stoop considerably to get myself under the head. Breakfast was very good. Recommended.

For what I paid for my 4 night stay, I was not expecting too much, but what a surprise I had when I arrived. The room was spotless and warm, bed super comfy. The food is where this hotel scores best of all. The choice of dinners was more than I expected and breakfast was superb. As I said, for the price you pay you won't get better service, food or bed.

We saw some of the reviews before we left and was a bit concerned at where we was staying, luckily we didn't take any notice. Yes the hotel does need some tlc, but it is such a big hotel this will take time. Our room was very clean, the bed sheets spotless as well as the mattresses. The food was really good, we stayed half board and there was plenty of choice for both breakfast and dinner. The food was hot. Another real bonus is the location, just a five minute walk from the beach and 10-15 minute walk from town centre, although a little train stopped right outside the hotel that took you into the town centre. we had a great stay at the hotel, only thing that the holiday down was great British weather!

When arrived at the hotel, looks ok, but then when went to my room, oh my god, it was horrible, smelly, dirty, small, it was nothing like the website one bit, I wouldn't even let a child sleep in there, I had a broken bed, no head board, If I turned over the bed would rock, the window was so small it felt like I was in a prison cell, it was looking out into a carpark, had to run the hot water for a shower for 5 mins, the same for when having a wash, when I wanted the window open I had to stand on a chair, and got told to close the window due to the fact been on the carpark, DO NOT GO INTO ROOM 130, I was ready for home on Wednesday, but couldn't. Also the bedroom had cobwebs in the corners, and in the bathroom, I didn't unpack at all, I felt really dirty in the room, when I got home my clothes really stunck that bad, had to was twice, this hotel should be shut down to be remodonise, the food how ever was really nice, its just the room, sorry I will not be going there again, it really spolit my holiday.

Just got home from a 2 night stay at this hotel. It is in need of a good refurbishment it is very shabby hotel, rooms were unclean, in fact dirty, ceiling tiles in need of replacement, very damp. On our first morning for breakfast the bread was mouldy and being served, no apologies or anything like it. On second morning which was our last sat at a table with no reserved sign on it, we were told all the tables in the row were reserved for a party, asked where else we could sit, they couldn't find us anywhere, and just weren't interested, in the end we left again with no breakfast. What I find astonishing the most is that non of the staff were interested or could either be bothered not even an apology, or we can clear a table for you, just nothing. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I had booked and paid for a weekend break at the rainbow 28/sept/07, when I read the reviews my wife and I were horrified. But on arival were pleasantly surprised, at check in we were greeted by friendly staff and offered a hand with our luggage, our room was clean and comfortable, the pool and steamroom were fantastic, the three course evening meal was outstanding, with staff going out of their way to be helpful, breakfast was of the same standard, the evening entertainment was bingo and caberet, bar staff friendly, all and all a great weekend, worthy of the aa3*** rating. Will visit again.
