Run down, creaky floors, hard bed, unfriendly staff, a million stairs & maze of corridors. Would not recommend or stay again. Certainly not worth what they charge for it.

Staff are always friendly and mealtimes are something I always look forward to.

Stayed here for 4 nights with my mum and daughter last week… all the staff are lovely and nothing was too much hassle… rooms could do with updating but thats the only negative… my daughter loved the pool. Would stay again.

Poor hygiene standards in the room, unsafe outdoor and kids area and noisy room. I understand its Victorian but it doesn't excuse the basics in a hotel.

10 out of 10 for service, we Came down for the weekend to meet up with a jet ski group, left my ski in the car park the staff looked after it all weekend and couldn’t be more helpful to us.
Clean rooms, a nice warm welcome.
I will definitely be back soon.

Nice hotel rooms are clean and staff are friendly, I would recommend bed and breakfast here but the evening meals was horrendous the wait we had was not good the evening meals was from 6:30-7:30 we went for the 6:30 sit and still waiting at 7:30 then the waiter came and said they didn’t have enough pudding left they only was focusing on one side of the room anything else you can’t complain about.

Arrived with a group booking. Looked after extremely well by Alison meeting all our needs.
Helen looked after us with the staff over the weekend and it has been fantastic.
Lovely and clean lovely food fantastic entertainment and the staff for breakfast and dinner were great. We had the ballroom Saturday night with evening entertainment who remembered us from last year and we had a ball. They allowed our visiting band do a turn which always goes down fantastic.
James it has been a fantastic weekend we hope to return next year.

It's really disappointing. Poor (single) room, bathroom — disaster. No toilet paper! Bed uncomfortable, old ugly furnitures, TV in micro size — I have bigger screen in my tablet. Not liked it at all. Few good things: location, free parking, nice staff and Kelly's ice creams in the reception. Definitely needs update and deep cleaning.

Needs updating nets in room are filthy! nearly fell into the bathroom over taped up door bar for the price I'd expect better the pool looks like dirty bath water wouldn't recommend it at all.

A mix up with our booking however Gavin dealt with it perfectly. Upgraded our room to a spectacular apartment. Also the hotel itself is great lots of entertainment and lovely breakfast on offer. Thank you Gavin you made our stay perfect.

Hotel in great situation for everything. The staff was lovely and helpful. Drinks price good value. Down side education first students a nightmare bad manner. We were in room 3 so got staff smoking and talking outside window. People in room above were like a heard of elephants night and day.

Lovely visit to my favourite hotel. My granddaughter loved her princess bed in room 132. Staff were great and couldn't do enough for us.

The hotel was brilliant nothing was to much for the staff the dinning room staff were very helpful the bedrooms were clean they replaced the towels every day it's the first time we've been there to Cavendish hotel we are going to go back we have written to caledonian travel giving them 100%praise thanks again for everything you did for us both.

Always nice and clean when I go to weight watchers meetings.

Fantastic hotel for the price great double room with pool view but pool wasnt opened for renovations wouldive been great sun trap to relax food was good something for every one GREAT breakfast help your self sausages bacon fried eggs the lot could have better service at meal times bar staff good went down for paper in the morning tried to find my room twice got the nice chap to take me to my room, the best entertainment the last night Paul Anthony brill singer for all ages would like to go back maybe june or july great excursions to yarmouth with boat trip and Dartmouth, also having fantastic driver Tam his patter was down to earth and funny xx.

Rather tired and could do with renovation. Overall the staff were pleasant and helpful given that the hotel was full for the weekend. Food was excellent which made up for the other deficiencies.

The staff are fantastic and couldn't do more for you. The hotel could do with a update but then would it still be available at my price range of they did. I loved it. Thanks to the staff for the help and care they gave us. I would love to go back. The food and waiting staff were brilliant especially Luke.

Really nice relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff. Nothing too much trouble. Hotel a little bit tired but very clean. Really enjoyed our two night stay. Will stay again. Very good value for money.

Food brilliant staff left a lot to be desired maybe an injection of humour wouldnt go amiss.

Rooms are a dated and in need of update… initial appearance of hotel was nice in reception but I think I had a tradesmans room (room number 7) … dont plan on an early night if in that room. Shower — poor pressure… and 8 quid for a breakfast… thats just ridiculous pricewise! Plenty cafes around for a full english at half the price… one just 30seconds up the road next to carter stores with free coffee! Requested upper storey room… never got it. Paid 21 quid a night for the room so didnt expect hilton standards but have stayed in many in devon area for same price and been better. Staff all nice, bar prices fine too… Mixture of pluses n negatives really so a fair review really.

It was a great place apart from the swimming pool which is green. Lovely service and for a great price.

Nice room, but very hot and can't turn heating down. Very clean. Limited parking let's it down.

Very friendly staff and great food visited six weeks ago going again this Friday.

Friendly staff, clean small rooms, good restaurant but it's an old building which is getting a little tired here and there. The rooms are warm if not luxurious and the beds are comfortable.

Good location in Torquay. Excellent staff. Breakfast — help yourself with a reasonable selection. Christmas meal was very good. Function room crowded and very hot. Bedroom decor very dated.

Stayed here a few years back, before it was featured on a TV docu, a quite pleasant place to stay lots of older people seem to like this hotel, I was here with my bf for a gay birthday party, which was wild some the older residents complained about the noise which was a fair point, I lovely place to stay but don't expect to much energy lol.

Old school large hotel which I imagine was a fine establishment back in the heyday of the great British seaside. Now a little run down but cheap and cheerful.

Dated but perfectly functional hotel. Staff friendly, location great and the facilities good enough but don't expect any frills. Good value for the money.

Was OK. Nothing special. Our rooms were clean. We had parking for 2 vans, outdoor pool and jacuzzi, bar, plenty of space. Seemed like it was a fave with the retired generation! Close to beach. We was happy enough.

Stayed just one night. Arrived late evening and was greeted by pleasant members of staff that were really helpful. Rooms are a little dated and could do with a lick of paint but otherwise it was a pleasant stay.

We had a great stay, amazing bay view, outdoor pool was really warm and friendly staff, we loved the charm of the place and will go back.

Well wot can I say but truly amazing thank you we came down to torque on our own just me and my little boy albert we have had a lovely stay we have enjoyed our self and all ready looking to come back for a longer stay room was lovely staff were so friendly and we'll breckfast was lovely this was my first holiday as a mum and u made it all worth it thank you everyone can't wait to come back.

Just back from 4 nights at the Cavendish, I feel it's unfair to complain about the heat as we were there in the heatwave! The staff at this hotel are amazing and deserve the highest praise. Nothing was too much trouble. My single room was tiny and very hot but I spent very little time in it and was given an electric fan from reception, my bed was very comfortable. The kitchen cooler generator was somewhat noisy in the night but understandable in the heat and essential to keep the refrigerators operating!
The corridors were a little narrow with a wheelchair, but otherwise disabled access was good.
The hotel being part of a group has everything to offer, fab pool, bars, evening entertainment, bingo all very enjoyable, typical of a traditional seaside holiday. It even has its own ten pin bowling alley!
The food and service was very good with plenty of choice in a spacious dining room.
The only thing that I can fault is the lifts, they are small and need replacing/ updating and sound and act like a malfunctioning robot, the only way to cope is too laugh!
The hotel is obviously old and needs some updating and refurbishment, which is in process, no one can expect it to all happen at once, major task in a hotel of this size!
We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return next year!

Low life cheating scum! They have taken my money by false representation. Avoid this hotel at all costs. Trading standard will be seeing to them!

Clean and tidy room. Food at breakfast was good, food at evening function was excellent. Staff friendly and attentive.

I was in Torquay with EF and I lived on this hotel. It was such as bad hotel. There was fungus on the walls plus the food tasted horrible.

Really good place and very good staff.

I would marry Mark Jenkins. But watching the show, people get what they pay for and dont expect a hotel in Mayfair London if you are not willing to pay the price.

Is a disgusting, a 'hospice, there are only elderly, rooms and stairs with carpet, a maze of doors and stairs, the rooms painful, break off pieces of the wall, a friend of mine found a poo in the drawer, string lights and windows that are upwards by a miracle. If you go to Torquay choose everything but not Cavendish.

Very friendly and helpful staff, would do anything to help, rooms clean, but very tired, could do with being decorated, bathrooms need modenised, as very dark and and small.
