Easily accessible with a good location. Good parking. As well as a good staff. Food was very good. I use the. Word good a lot because rating a place on just a single visit is hard. I did enjoy it very much.

Hotel is okay the apartment is big. Just they need to clean the carpets. Location is near restos and coffee shops. It's a little old but it's okay for long stays. Staff are nice and helpful.

The McLure Hotel in Wheeling WV is pet friendly (under 20lbs). Located near a decent park and has several nearby resturants. Reasonable price, rooms are nice (at least my rooms is) and the staff is friendly and helpfull. No complaints at all with my experience.

We had to clean parts of the hotel ourselves to even fell ok using it. The fire alarm is always messed up and everything is just dirty.

Got a two bed suite. Decent quality, for the price. Receptionists were very attentive and good fun to talk to. Rooms were clean, and service was prompt. There was some construction going on at the time, but otherwise it was a good stay. I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite hotel on the Citadel.

Beautiful place and the history behind it is amazing. The front desk staff is the bomb! The suite we stayed in was cozy. We visit here frequently and this is our go to place. Conveniently located to anything you need.

I don't think this place deserves even one star. Old, overpriced, run down. Reserved online which said Irish bar in the hotel. It wasn't even open anymore. A sign at the front desk said no heat or air conditioning… We are in neutral! Just open the window if you're hot and close it if you're cold! What the heck. Chris the manager said there wouldn't be a manager in till Monday. Then found out he was the manager! Could not believe what bad shape the furniture was in the room. Like the night stand had been out all winter in the weather. Never again! Run run run.

This place is great! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It's in a great location that is surrounded by great restaurants and lovely views and things to do. I very much enjoyed my time here and would gladly go back again.

This hotel reminds me of the hotel from American Horror Story and kind of freaked me out. There were burn holes in the sheets and when we told the front desk about it they moved us to another room that had the same issue. We just accepted the fact that we had to sleep on Swiss cheese sheets, but the showers were really nice. The hotel is a bit dated and the complimentary breakfast was as basic as it gets. Wouldn't prefer to stay again just because I was on edge about how sketchy the parking and the floors were but the beds were comfy.

Rooms were very hot. No air conditioning in them. Shouldn't need it in the winter but it was so hot in the rooms! Breakfast was coffee orange juice and oatmeal. Not located in the best part of town. Got a fan from the front desk and it didn't work had to go all the way back down to get another one. The bar is closed permanently. The staff were nice and the rooms were decent.

Interesting historic hotel in a cute little town. This place has some interesting history to it. Multiple U. S. Presidents have stayed here. That’s all I can really say. Unfortunately, I was really sick the night I stayed here, so I didn’t get the full experience.

In town for the lights and Nailers game. For the price it could have been better. When talking to the locals, there apparently has been a downturn in the property. Breakfast was continental but, a decent selection and I was informed when I made the reservation. The furnishings are dated but the hotel is quiet. Could have stayed at the Hampton inn for the same price.

My family was in a rush to plan a memorial celebration for my brother who passed away just weeks after being diagnosed with cancer. I called several different revues in the Ohio Valley and I found they were either booked or way out of our price range, but not the McLure. The General Manager Nicole returned my call promptly and I explained the situation and from there, she and her staff at the McLure were fantastic! Everyone at the McLure was hospitable and friendly and eager to help with whatever we needed. If you're ever looking for a banquet facility, I HIGHLY recommend contacting Nicole and her team! Thanks for everything you all did to help us celebrate my brother's life!

We stayed in the Jacuzzi suite. The room was very spacious. Everything was in working order. Carpets were worn, and the room needs some patch work done on it. The room itself looks like it used to be a main entrance as there is a doorway leading right to the street. It was fully locked with no way in, but still a bit awkward. Found no bugs. Staff was very nice. Would recommend.

Staying here for a month straight. Room was clean. Bed is wore out. Pillows are literally an inch thick. 3 table lamps. One without a bulb. One broke and one you have to jiggle switch while getting a shock to turn on. You either freeze or sweat with air temp. No real control there. Mini fridge seal on door wore out. It runs all the time and never gets cold. I have talked to front desk a couple times now still no fix. They clean room daily. Clean towels. The rooms serves a purpose. Would expect more since there are 6 of us here for a month.

This place is really going down hill. Only one ice machine for the whole motel. By Saturday no ice. Needs a good cleaning. It has a odor. Not enough towels for rooms. The chairs in room we put towels down to sit on. Shower more water comes from below instead of shower head. Bathrooms molding, mildew.

Convenient location, hotel building is very old and gives the place a lot of character! They have made some renovations, but it isn't a modern hotel feeling. Clean and moderately priced for the area. Fits in well with the older astetics of Wheeling. They do not offer a hot breakfast, but do have snacks. It was a nice experience.

This hotel should get a 10. Great hotel very clean. What a great piece of history with several Presidents staying there. A former bellboy turned out to be a famous hotelier. A must stay. Staff A+

Yes, this place has a long long history. Not just being an old hotel in a once thriving city, but the history the people that both worked there and were guest! I just stayed one night, and only saw this one room, it was just ok. Breakfast was prepackaged muffins of various flavors, coffee empty. Full disclosure, I worked in the kitchen for a little over a year. That was circa '73, '74, and even I have many stories that could script at least one season of a sitcom. Restore? $$$$ Building was renovated over several years. Restoration.

Great hotel. Staff very friendly and helful. The restaurant was closed for repairs so I am not able to rate it. Not enough restaurants within walking distance. Rooms were clean and comfy.

An old lady in an old town. Surprisingly nice rooms. Very comfortable except for poor lighting. Friendly staff. Outstanding value.

It was nice place and drinks were ok. Little pricey but was at the hotel. Over all was a nice evening.

It could use some better mattresses, definitely better pillows, and some updates around the building (the ice maker on the fourth floor was old and rusty), but overall it wasn't a bad stay.

Rooms are clean — employees are friendly — location is good — enjoy walking down to the Ohio river & Coleman's fish market & Vocelli's pizza are a bonus!

I have been staying in there apartments for a year now. Very convienent fully furnished all utilities included. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Michael is extremely helpful if you have any questions/issues. Overall it has been a great experience.

Very clean. I am a picky cleanliness freak, but can look passed the wore out furniture. It could use a remodel and up dating. The drain stopper was stuck and I removed it so the water would drain out. I fully expected to pull out a ton of grossness, but I didn't. The drain was as clean as the rest of the room. Very, very clean.

We are currently staying in this hotel. Things are outdated, but location and everything are great. My husband is staying here for a few months for work. However, at the moment we need clean linens and toilet paper. I called the front desk at 11:56 to ask about accommodations… basically to see if I need to go buy toilet paper. Well it's now 2 o'clock and I've heard nothing after being told they would send someone right up. I'm getting frustrated because we pay good money every week and should get some good service.

I stayed her about a few months ago & booked last minute so had little choice. Hotel rooms are expensive in this part of the Ohio Valley due to Fracking drilling and at $95 pn was not good value. The room looked as if nothing had been changed in 30 years apart from the TV and was very "tired" with marks on furniture and no pug in the bathroom sink. The lobby looks OK & the front desk initally was OK (more later) but the elevator had graffiti scratched inside it and there was a lack of ice machines-when I did find one it was not working!. The phone in the room did not have a facility to leave a message (can you believe that! ) and the front desk told a caller from California that they do not take messages for guests (I was on business & confirmed afterwards by 2 people) The room was very hot & the window had to be kept open due to heating / boiler issues (mended now I gather). There is free parking in the garage but there are rumours of people sleeping in cars due to hotel shortages and is very dark. The breakfast is the same each day. Coffee/Juice/Fruit (looked not exactly fresh) and pastries that were very sugary. The lady who cleaned the room was OK and the bed comfortable and would have given a 2* apart from the fact that 2 messages did not get through to me when I stayed. On a positive side there is free internet and a limited gym. The area is a bit run down but safe otherwise & there are quite a few places to dine in Wheeling.

Ok place to stay but the complementary breakfast could be better. It's as if the pulled out all the items from a vending machine. No eggs, or any traditional hot food. Also it'd be nice to see other flavors of coffee creamers.

We are staying there for work and over our stay at this hotel is awful. When checking in we gave the front desk a list to go by and said they only needed to put room numbers on the list. They didn't follow the list at all and it took us 2 days to fix the problem. While in the rooms the air conditioners did not work which they have since started to get them to work. In order for them to work they sent maintenance to the rooms to fix the issue. While maintenance was in the rooms they went through personal belongings of ours and took some people's medication. One night I came in and the lobby and it had 2 inches of water in the back. I went to the front desk and told them and they said they would let someone know. That person was watching a movie and went back to watching a movie and did nothing about it. The breakfast that the offer looks like they went to the grocery store and got every snack that has sugar in to put out for their breakfast. The workout room is pathetic as the have a treadmill and one stationary bike that works. If they got free weights/dumbbells it would be a little better.

Historic old building but well maintained. Had a jacuzzi room that was apparently the prior front entrance to the hotel! Bedding very comfortable, jacuzzi was nice. Shower however had very little water pressure and really no decent place to put shampoo, soap etc. The wardrobe was falling apart and doors wouldn't close.

I stayed at the Mclure Hotel on June 28th, 2014. When I got to my room at approximately 4:00pm, I noticed that the bed had not been made. Upon further inspection, I realized that the room had not been cleaned at all. As I was standing there trying to figure out what exactly to do, a housekeeper walked in, surprising me as much as I surprised her. She felt really bad that I had been checked into a dirty room. I left the room for about 20 minutes to give her time to do her thing. When I got back, the room was clean, if you want to call it that. I know it is an old hotel, but the room was so dingy and grimy like it had old ground in dirt everywhere! It has been badly neglected. The next morning, around 10:15am (check-out time is 11:00am), someone with a clipboard walked right into my room without knocking. Thank goodness I was dressed! He said he "thought I had already checked out". What? How did he think that? Then, upon checking out at the front desk, the person who check me out didn't bother to even say good morning or ask how my stay was. I was too mad at that point to let him know how awful my experience had been. Maybe I should have let them know, but I got the feeling none of the staff would have cared. In my honest opinion, this hotel is way overpriced for the service and accommodations you receive. Save your money and stay in a Motel 6. I bet you will have a better experience. Very, very disappointing.

Horrible place to stay. Checked in and within three hours checked out to go to another hotel. Staff is rude, room was dirty and place is refusing to refund my money. Where to start? Checked in without a problem. Problems started when I walked into the room. A big pile of dirt was at my front door, the toilet was dirty and someone urinated and did not flush, there was trash in the trash can, dust on the furniture and my view was of a big dirty pile outside. I checked out and drove on to Parkersburg. The next day I emailed the manager who promised a refund and a voucher. Very nice lady. However, nearly three weeks later and the refund is still not in my checking account. When I emailed a woman named Barbara I got no answer. The second time I emailed her and wasn't overly nice about it, I got a reply that I wasn't getting a refund, despite the manager stating in an email I do. So, I called to get a clarification and both times when I challenged the desk people they hung up. As I put in my last email to the manger the front desk people are simply assholes. I will not recommend this place, and it is sad, when I lived in Wheeling 20 years ago this was the place to stay in downtown Wheeling. But it is an example of what happens when people think their job is a hassle and don't want to do the work.

DO NOT MAKE A RESERVATION ONLINE! I made a reservation online through my company website which showed multiple rooms available. I arrived at the hotel and found out that these were 'dirty' rooms that were available. The hotel itself needs a lot of help. It's pretty bad when the pillows look dirty and there is spider webs in the corner of the room big enough to have been there a while.

Was not happy. We chose a particular package deal and when we inquired about missing parts of the package, we were told there was nothing they could do, because we booked through the website. We booked through their website, not a third party. Very outdated, the sink leaked in our room, there was mold in the corner of the shower because there was no bathroom exhaust. The walls are very thin, we could hear everyone in the hallway. A good note, the lobby was beautiful and it had convenient parking.

Overall, this hotel is a good value. It was clean and the staff was nice, but was also quite a bit outdated. The only thing that kept this from being a 4 star rating was the noise. It is in a very old building and you can hear everything happening in the hallways. It was worth the money, but beware of the noise if you're a light sleeper.
