Reviews of Sonesta ES Suites Charleston 3*
The hotel recently became a Sonesta hotel but nothing changed for the better. Rooms are still small, air returns are still dusty/dirty and the carpet & furniture show wear & tear. It’s ok in a pinch & for us, the “pet friendly” status is a must. But it needs a thorough cleaning & updated furnishings.

First of all, it is no longer a Residence Inn. It has been re-flagged as a Sonesta ES Suites property. Secondly, the only thing new on the property is the signage and other brand-specific items. Everything else is the same. And it’s getting long in the tooth. A cynical person might guess that the owners elected to switch flags rather than invest the $$’s necessary to retain their Marriott franchise, but maybe they just got a better deal from Sonesta. In any event, the only reason to patronize this property any more is that it remains pet friendly. Were it not for that, I would stay elsewhere.
