The room felt like being home. It was so hard to leave.
The staff was kind, funny, and helpful. Especially when we left our luggage on the ferry (miscommunication).

The room was old and dingy. A little updating would go a long way. There was no AC in our room which made it a bit hotter than I like at night. We tried the breakfast in the morning a couple of times, and it was fine, a normal continental breakfast. Very weak coffee and juices though. The staff was always nice and helpful.

Check in is 4pm which I thought was a bit late, we had a 2pm wedding and they got us in early although they said they couldnt guarantee it… which seemed odd since your co worker are the cleaners… and the place isn't huge. The room we got was dingy but resembled the photos so it was as expected. The master bedroom smelled of vomit which was gross but we were in a rush so dealt with it. The free breakfast was surprisingly delicious and the staff very polite. I probably would not recommend this place IF you could find another place, but not a bad 3rd or 4th option.

Well we booked this through Trip Advisor when there were no rooms in town, and we had an unexpected stay due to a ferry breakdown. So the place is about as plain and basic as it gets and for $300 we got a suite that reminds me of a senior living facility that has not been cosmetically updated since the 1980's. Comfortable= yes, glamorous= no way. Clean =yes. No pool, nothing special. Bed is comfy.

Stayed at the hotel for one night. It's located very conveniently a bit outside of downtown but still walkable and they run a free courtesy shuttle. Rooms were nice although a bit old fashioned. They also have a pretty good Mexican restaurant on premises. Service was also great, everyone was very friendly. The free breakfast was alright, but nothing to write home about and the jacuzzi was a bit small and located right next to a patio. That said if you're not looking for the most modern place possible or very unique vibes I'd recommend this place.

Room was very nice, but the check-in process was a nightmare. We arrived slightly late, as the ferry was late. We had confirmed beforehand that we could check-in, as we weren't the ones who booked the hotel. We were assured that we just needed to give our friends name, and that we would be let in, as they had called ahead for us. We got to the hotel, and they refused to let us in, and then asked us to leave the hotel, while it was 1130pm outside. We ultimately got our friend who booked the hotel on the phone, and that was enough to let us in. The hotel was nice enough, but the check-in process was quite bad, especially after a long day getting to and traveling on the ferry.

Very well rounded hotel. Rooms were in good condition, and the food was excellent. Overall the location was good.

Best place to stay in Friday harbor. Great staff the cleaning ladies take pride in there work amazing bar and restaurant. And when you got the munchies they got vending machines and don't forget the hot tub.

The hotel has a very yummy Mexican restaurant and cantina attached. All staff were friendly. Room was clean. No a/c, but that's common in the Pacific Northwest. It was easy to cool the room down by opening windows and turning on the fan. They provide a shuttle to and from downtown which is handy because it's steep walk uphill from downtown to the hotel. Continental breakfast was good. No complaints. I'd stay here again.

The suite I had was beautiful! The staff was very friendly and helpful and great with suggestions of things to do, plus the restaurant that’s attached was very good as well. I’ll definitely be staying again in the future!

This was above average. Really nice rooms and a comfortable bed. I will return.

Horrible customer service, as soon as I called to book a room or check availability the front desk asked for my number to get ahold of me. 15min after waiting for the phone call I called back and was prompted the same. I asked if I could just see if they had rooms available and she said she couldn't disclose that until the people in front of her were helped. Please explain to me why there is ONE person running the phones, check in/out, and front counter?!

Had a great stay! We did a spontaneous trip to Friday Harbor on a Friday after work and booked last minute. We had a queen suite which was very spacious. Separate living room with actual fireplace and balcony as well as kitchen and dinning area. Every was clean and welcoming. Would definitely stay again in the summer with our kids.

No love at all. They just don't put any love into it. mediocre room service, no ability to watch movies, restaurant closed hours before advertised. Come on guys… you can do better than this!

AS ALWAYS, Everything was GREAT. The service from the front desk as Well as the breakfast room where EXCELLENT. Room's very clean & cozy. VERY enjoyable stay, Thank You.

Review in progress: Here on an overnight business stay. Staff is friendly and check-in was relatively easy. The king size suite is very nice. It's akin to a one bedroom apartment. Each room is separate, except the kitchen and living room area. The room is clean and nicely appointed. There's a kitchen and a hide-a-bed in the couch in the living room. There's a small TV in the living and the bedroom. The bathroom is nice and large. So far, I'm quite pleased with the accommodations.

I’ve stayed here a couple times and they are nice suites but they seriously DONT KNOW how to ANSWER their PHONES! been trying to call for hours n the lady tells me to call back in five minutes. And then doesn’t pick up!

Breakfast needs more variety. Room service rushes through when refreshing your room. Kind of like motel 6… The pull put couch mattresses need to be replaced… They hurt.

Wheelchair accessible room only had one queen bed. My friend in wheelchair had the bed. I slept on sleeper sofa and had 2 nights of bad sleep. Was dissapointed to spend 175.00 per night and have such crappy sleeping arrangements. The staff was very nice and accomodating though.

While the ads on several sites say this is pet friendly they are not unless you book through them directly. However the hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. I could definitely see staying at this beautiful hotel in the future.

This hostile provides a decent breakfast amenitie but lacks in numerous other areas. The internet connection is very poor and the rooms are very old fashioned. Otherwise the attitudes of the staff is pretty good.

The only thing we can complain about is shower water pressure. It took long time to rinse. The staff is top notch, would recommend, great stay.

Old time feel but horrible quality. Sheets were old and room has funky smell.

Nice suite. Good service. On a tour with 29 other travelers visiting San Juan Island for 3 days.

The room was great, even the pull out bed was comfortable. The staff were all energetic and helpful, and our rooms porch was a nice spot to unwind. The parking lot fills up fast in the evening, as does the breakfast crowd in the morning so go early!

Excellent customer service. Very friendly staff at the front desk as well as the cleaning staff. The room layout is like no other that I've ever been in and is fantastic. You can't hear your next door neighbors or the neighbors above you. The hot tub is in a great location and the work out room is great. We brought our dog and the pet and smoking area is in a great location. Fantastic accommodations and amazing price.

If my rating was for the staff alone I would give an easy 4 star. Pros

Excellent location, was able to walk into town though they offer an excellent shuttle service. Rooms were clean and the complimentary continental breakfast was well received the next day.

Great room, decent location. Not what I'd consider close, but a healthy walk puts you right in the heart of Friday Harbor.

10 minute walk to the main strip area. Rooms are like little one bedroom apt with no stovestove. But has a full fridge and microwave.

Large room, friendly service. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Where to begin… This was the worst hotel we have ever had the misfortune of staying! Upon arrival the hotel smelled like yesterday's fried chicken and permeated into the rooms! Then we discovered there was no air conditioning when it was 90 degrees outside! Luckily they give you box fans but did little to quell the heat! The rooms were very outdated, like from the 70's, and were disgusting! The pull out couch was covered in hair and trash was found under the beds! The front desk staff was rude and not very knowledgeable! Also watch out for excessive fraudulent charges! After paying an exorbitant amount of money for a dump we were charged an extra $450! And when I called to inquire about the charges the attendant was clueless and there was no manager on site! Also the free breakfast isn't really free when you consider what you are paying for the dump! I would find a new vacation destination if this is the only option left on the island, like it was for us!

Way overpriced ($300+ with tax) for old, outdated queen bed room with sofa sleeper. Everything old and worn. Avoid if possible.

I really appreciated that when came off the ferry late to San Juan Island late on a Sunday night in late April 2013 that the Best Western had a person at the desk and an available room. The room was clean, nothing special but decent and the location near Friday Harbor is nice. However for the price of close to $200 with tax/fees for 1 Sunday night in the off/shoulder season (a bit of a premium for the location on San Juan Island I suppose) — I did not appreciate the rather loud staff in the hallway in the AM (the reason for the Poor-Fair service rating, person at the desk was nice and we did not have any other issues) and while I very much appreciated pulling in late and getting a room without reservations our experience was that, at least in the off/shoulder season, there are much nicer places to stay for less if you arrive earlier/make reservations.

No air conditioning, but did not matter for us the weather was cooler also we had the larger room with a regular kitchen and it was really roomy and very nice with a seperate bedroom. Very nice room with a porch. Breakfast is better than most continental breakfasts and this place is within walking distance to the pier so that worked out perfect. Also has a very nice shuttle service.

I booked this hotel primarily for kitchen, While booking the hotel, they claimed that the suite has large kitchen. But the kitchen has only refrigrator and microwave oven. Not stove or conventional oven. Also there isn't any A/C and thr room was hot, and even worse we couldn't switch off the heater, even if the control is turned to Low. I will never stay there again.
