We love the location, close to both Georgetown and downtown, and Metro. Our room was a studio apt newly refurbished with stylish touches. Fully equipped kitchen. Friendly service and a good restaurant downstairs that also does room service, and has friendly waitstaff.

Friendly and helpful staff, from start to finish.
The room was clean, quiet and comfortable.
Everything I could have wanted in a hotel room was available to me.
I was amazed that I could get a room this nice in this neighborhood for this price.
I booked a room. But, it was like an apartment, with a separate kitchen.

Hospitality was awesome! Our room could benefit from updates with plumbing, but the location and the way we were treated more than made up. We are happy we stayed here.

Well the hotel is in a prime location, just a couple blocks from the metro station and a major university, and the rooms are nice and spacious although not the most luxurious, What makes me give this hotel a five star rating are two employees at the front desk, April who works late night and will put a smile on your face even if you have had the worst days and want to do anything but smile, and Sheri, who will make you feel like you are so special you will think you are the only customer even if the front desk is crowded with people trying to check in. Really everybody at this hotel greets you with a smile, were very courteous, and made you feel welcome, but to April and Sheri, I truly want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You made a rather depressing situation into a truly wonderful stay. Thank you. I highly recommend staying here.

Good price, good service, cozy rooms with full kitchen. Each and every person from the staff is so friendly and polite. I does make you feel at home.

I'm so glad we chose to stay here. The staff is extremely accommodating. I called room service for coffee creamer and a gentleman brought it up not even a minute later. I could go on and on about the service and staff here, but I'll just say, do yourself a favor and stay here. The area is quiet, quaint & charming, yet 3 blocks from the metro, 3 blocks from Trader Joes, 2 blocks from the liquor store, & tons of food/takeout in the area. We have 2 kids under 5 and they felt at home. The tub shower actually had a stopper for baths, I never see that in hotels, so that was perfect for the kids.

Can't say enough good things about The River Inn! Nice facility in a quiet (except for Friday morning when garbage trucks made their pass) and safe neighborhood. The staff could not be any more helpful and friendly. Easy two block walk to Trader Joe's, several restaurants and the Kennedy Center. We will stay here again on our next visit.

We went to the restaurant prior to a show at the Kennedy Center. The waiter was professional, efficient, and had us out of the restaurant in less than an hour for a three course meal. The food was good and well prepared. The restrooms are downstairs, and the elevator is key carded, so if you are not a guest and not able to navigate stairs, be sure to talk to the reception desk.

Very pleasant stay! Room is clean enough. I like the kitchen a lot. Front desk is helpful and friendly. Location is good too.

Wonderful little hotel! So convenient to everything downtown, but still quiet enough that you'll actually get a good night's rest. Room was spacious and updated. The kitchen was absolutely clutch for a week-long stay, and easy access to Whole Foods at Foggy Bottom means it is actually totally possible to walk and get groceries. Easy, fast, and friendly valet service if you have your car. Would definitely book again.

Worst service I’ve ever experienced in a hotel. Booked 4 rooms for a trip through a travel management system and the hotel staff was only inflexible and impatient. Upon arriving at the hotel, the staff was unwelcoming and asked that an individual from each room put down a $50 deposit on their credit cards. Instead of the $50 deposit, each person had an unauthorized hold amounting to the total cost of the room placed on their cards. When attempting to rectify the situation, people in my party were reprimanded by hotel staff for not understanding how the deposits worked. Fast forward to the last afternoon, we paid to check out late from one of the rooms. A manager rudely rushed us out. He would neither let members from our delegation return upstairs for their luggage, nor facilitate the process by asking for a luggage cart to be brought up as we requested. The service and attitude of staff members, from managers to front desk workers, were the worst I have ever experienced in a hospitality setting. Love the location, but I will not being staying here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the River Inn. The room was spacious and the staff was very friendly. The kitchenette was great and a Trader Joe's and Whole Foods were both within walking distance for groceries. The Foggy Bottom metro station was only a few blocks away. Beds were good and the rooms were clean and well maintained.

Nice Hotel in a quiet location close to a metro station in Washington.

I've stayed here twice for work. The rooms I've enjoyed have a lovely little kitchenette (complete w/dishes, fridge & so on), and a stellar bathroom and dressing area. Beds are comfy, and there's a perfect couch for midday power naps. The restaurant is quite yummy, and everything (Kennedy Center, more eateries, national mall, museums) is in walking distance. I recommend it!

An older but updated hotel in Foggy Bottom, Washington, DC. All suites with nicely equipped kitchens. Reasonable prices and very personable staff. The small restaurant is quite nice, again with friendly service.

Had a beautiful, well-appointed suite with view of the Potomac. Clean, comfortable, friendly, and very helpful. The location was perfect. Close to everything and a nice quiet neighborhood. Bed was very comfortable. I would defiinitely go back again and again and again.

Such a great hotel! Great location, conveniently near a metro stop. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Local free yoga classes! Room was clean, spacious and nice. Pet friendly. Great rate! They switched our room with no problems when there was an issue with the first. Only issue I had was the bed was too soft (bad back, my issue) and the kitchen top was old and probably needed to be replaced. Highly recommend!

We got our room last minute. The lobby to check in is nice and the hotel is located in Foggy Bottom, really close to the subway stop. The rooms are spacious, with a kitchen and nice beds. What really made a difference was the staff! I forgot something really valuable in the room after we checked out, and they found it and gave it back to me. Perfect experience!

Great boutique hotel right on foggy bottom. We stayed one night. Our room was great comfortable bed and really nice bathroom. The best part is they are pet friendly and do not have a pet fee or deposit!

I've been going to The River Inn for a yearly work event for the past 6 years. I have never once had an issue, and indeed, the staff is utterly professional, courteous, and personable. Keith, in particular, is a consummate pro, and always remembers us. The food is exceptional, personally picked for us by Keith, and he never fails to impress. And, of course, the drink selection is top, and he always knows exactly what to recommend. Not yet disappointed, and I know a few things about drinks. I've never stayed in the rooms, so I can't directly speak to them, but I can't imagine they're anything but perfect, given every other aspect of their experience.

Love love second time staying. At first, I thought the check in was closed. We got here at 3 am. But I called again in my room comfortable with order food by 3 am. Pleasant and peaceful. Stayed two weeks ago for Jay Z concert. 5stars from me and this one had a full kitchen with oven!

This is my home-away-from-home when I go to Washington DC. The hotel itself has such a positive feeling from the moment you walk in the door and the staff is the cause of it. The staff is warm, friendly and work their hardest to give the best service possible. I saw this first hand as one of my travel companions was very high maintenance. They bent over backwards to accommodate this person no matter how ridiculous they got. I was mortified with their behavior but the staff, from management on down, were so gracious and kind throughout the ordeal. I can't say enough about their excellent customer service. The rooms are large, beautiful and airy. I also had a room in which I could open the windows which was such a bonus. The kitchen is a good size with a full size refrigerator and gas stove. It was just — perfect. The bathroom was clean and roomy. I just loved every minute there and for the first time in all of my travels, felt at home. I didn't want to leave and that is saying a lot. Thank you to all of the staff at River Inn. You are wonderful! Your hotel is beautiful!

Very good location in a classic neighborhood of low houses. Very good service, perhaps with a slightly outdated furniture but it has kitchen. Still recommended.

Spacious clean rooms with kitchen facilities ideal for family travel. All of the hotel staff are friendly and efficient, helped us a lot with all the questions we did for food, sightseeing and transportation.
Highly recommended, if you are interested in comfort and efficiency. Not the vain luxury.

Convenient to Foggy Bottom area. Rooms have kitchenettes and coffee beans and a grinder for fresh coffee. The rooms are comfortable and welcoming. On site restaurant. Staff is friendly.

Beautiful little boutique hotel. About 30min walk to the national Mall/Whitehouse. Great prices and room was very clean and had a full kitchen! Tons of food and shops nearby — close to Georgetown and George Washington uni!

I really liked it, overall very nice and relatively reasonably priced for the area. The whole place is very pretty and modern looking, even the outside area which had some cool sculptures. The hotel was also only a block from the Foggy Bottom metro which was very convenient. The room was very nice and had a little kitchenette. Everything seemed clean, the rooms were comfy and the air conditioning worked great. There was a continental breakfast for $13 which was very good. The buffet options were: delicious and high quality pastries, breads, boiled eggs, fresh fruit/berries, yoghurt, sausages, bacon, and coffee. They also has some awesome pictures of adorable dogs on the walls of the restaurant which I loved. I would definitely recommend staying here.

I've stayed at The River Inn before and I really like the hotel so when I was arranging a family reunion, I selected The River Inn. My aunts and uncles have been delighted with the hotel as well. They have been very pleased with how affordable it is, its location (couple blocks from metro, Safeway, Whole Foods, and restaurants), the rooms, and the restaurant downstairs. This time, because my mother was with us, I rented an accessible room which I could not be happier with. The River Inn will continue to be my first choice when staying in DC.

Wonderful place to stay in D. C! We booked three rooms for a class trip (college level). The rooms easily slept three to a room. I truly cannot say enough about the staff. They were masters at customer service! From the front desk, to housekeeping, to the valet & hotel manager… Everyone we encountered was polite and accommodating. I'm not posting any photos of the hotel because what you see on their website is completely accurate. Our rooms each had a little kitchenette. Fridge, microwave, stove top (no oven) & very basic kitchen tools. Perfect for simple fare like soup & sandwiches. If you plan to do more than that, bring supplies. The hotel also offers a service where you can order the fridge to be stocked with basics. I didn't eat in the hotel restaurant, but the menu was creative and I was definitely tempted by the aromas drifting out into the lobby. You couldn't ask for a better location. Only a block & a half away from the Foggy Bottom metro stop. I was so impressed with the hotel, I will definitely be staying there on my own trip to D. C. In the future!

Great place! Love the location and the staff are very friendly and professional. Kitchenette in room so easy to have breakfast or meals in, but so close to lots of great food options so we didn't use it much for this quick stay. Whole coffee beans and grinder provided in room for fresh coffee in the morning was a nice touch. Will defiantly come back!

Nice kitchenette, varying room quality based on teir. Currently has construction on the road in front of it which is a bit of an obstacle. Once that's finished thos placr will be great again.

Me and my Junior year class (8 students and 3 adults… only part of the class went on this trip) in High School took a trip to Washington D. C (back in 2013) and we stayed in this River Inn for 6/7 days. I can't really give this an official review because I mostly forgot everything. But when we stayed here, there was no Wi-Fi… But there was a Ethernet port (I think) for your laptop. If there was Wi-Fi, then I didn't use it probably because it was slow and weak signal. The staff were friendly, the room was clean, and to top it off it had a small but decent kitchen to cook or make food like ramen noodles. But to add to this review so it won't be boring and informative, The River Inn is close to a Subway (not the subway metro, but the food Subway), Whole Foods, TGI Fridays, 7 Eleven, Market (to buy small goods and food) and a Metro only a few blocks away to hop on or off the subway.

The Inn itself was great. The room was clean and spacious. Two things negatively impacted the review: I had a hard time sleeping on the rather flat pillows and the bathtub did not drain when we were showering. I would stay again, but may ask for softer/fluffier pillows.

The location is convenient for visiting many of the local tourist destinations — close to the metro so you don't have to walk or taxi everywhere. The rooms are nice and big. I love that you get a mini kitchen with full size fridge. They even provide coffee beans, a grinder and a coffee maker.

We stayed here from 10/31 thru January 2015 as we were entertaining friends visiting from Australia. We had such a good time that decided to stay thru the Holidays and we're so welcomed it felt like home! One bedroom suite was absolutely comfy, grinder and beans very welcomed daily, lots of cooking choices as well as delivery nearby. Also enjoyed Whole Foods 5 min walk away, anything needed was nearby. Running errands I took a taxi rather than our car, they provided their limo, how kind hearted, was a shock and not expected. Highly recommended! Your Holidays will be one to remember! ❄

I love being this close to campus when I have to be here from out of town (doc student). It's not cheap for a student budget, but for a grown gal, I couldn't love it more for the convenience, hospitality, and comfort. The beds are very comfortable so I have no problem getting to sleep the minute I hit the pillow; the rooms are clean with a slightly Asian feel; the work desk is great; the natural daylight is provided by a full-wall's width of window; and the kitchen adds a homy touch with coffee beans and a grinder! Top that off with free Wi-Fi, and I'm not sure why anyone would want to go somewhere else when your trip to DC means you are headed to an office or a classroom and then you just want to relax and be comfortable while you prepare a brief, presentation, or maybe some popcorn for a movie…

We were in this hotel by treading our feet for the first time in the United States in April 2012. We are the delegation of the Democratic Republic of the Congo who came for meetings related to the blood ores and the Dodd Frank law.
I will never forget the reception and service made by all the staff of this beautiful place in Washington.
