Reviews of The Manhattan at Times Square 3*
When I booked, the hotel offered me a subscription that could not be cancelled. This is a fraudulent scheme that violates consumer rights. This is a place you should be careful about booking. Ideally, I would recommend staying at another chain that doesn't try to scam you. 🤨
This hotel does not have parking. We knew that before booking but we didn’t know is that the parking deck closes at a certain hour. We arrived from driving 6 hours at 3am. The parking deck is closed. We parked on the street. We woke up the next morning and the car was gone. No one could tell us where the car was and why it was “illegally parked”. We finally reached the DC Parking Services. They told us the car was in fact stolen. This is a beautiful hotel. However, the area can be sketchy at night. The lack of parking is a huge concern. The hotel staff & online team was not helpful throughout this process. Safe yourself the hassle. Book at a hotel with parking! Other than that — beautiful hotel, amazing design! Just praying we locate our vehicle. We are currently stranded in SE DC because MPD’s website said that cars could be retrieved here. Terrible experience. Completely unsafe!
Just stayed the weekend at citizenm Boston, (Nov. 19-21) WOULD NOT STAY AGAIN! Hotel was nice and modern however room was tiny. When we arrived we called to inquire about the bathroom door didn’t shut tight. They didn’t really have a resolution. And “were busy with guest”
Second day we were having coffee in the lobby area (as the room is so small) and we were asked to leave because we had Dunkin’ Donuts coffee! Husband questioned them they didn’t care and just continued to ask us to leave saying “it’s our policy” asked for manager same rude attitude! The lobby was empty. So rude and petty!
Will not be staying at a citizenm again.
Lynne.
Went to the one in Washington DC and it was above and beyond! The staff were so friendly and fun. They decorated our room for our anniversary ❤️ If there's a CitizenM where we go from now on, we'll be staying there and no where else!
Agree with all the other similar posts here. Paid in full in January approx. £1000 for a 5 night stay with my teenaged daughter over Easter. I have been contacting the hotel for a refund since March. Responses are delayed and rare and repeated say they are waiting for ‘upper management’ to decide on or approve a refund. I don’t think anyone who had to cancel a stay has received their money back. If this is any indication of the customer service if you stayed at the hotel, then avoid at all costs. The trip will eventually be rebooked but this hotel won’t. They have had enough of my money — do not stay there.
Absolutely loved our stay at Schiphol. Checked in the day Amsterdam went on lockdown. In spite of the uncertainty of the situation staff was fun and friendly.
Haven’t stayed there but they had great customer service during a time where people have no choice but to cancel hotel reservations! They made it seamless.
Rooms are designed beautifully. Very hi tech and cozy at the same time. Staff is extremely helpful and professional. I could spend hours in the lounge area. Price and location in Boston were perfect. Highly revommend!
Greg at the reception was very helpful, I would highly recommend.
Tonight is our last night staying here and I honestly couldn't recommend this hotel enough, from the moment we walked in you could literally smell the cleanliness. We were greeted by Sarah and Greg who were so lovely and welcoming. The room was perfect, clean and had everything we needed, especially the bottles of water left every day! I would also like to say Greg was amazing with us, he really did make our stay here what it was. We have travelled alot, especially to the states and have to say Greg has been the nicest person we have ever met. Him alone would make us book this hotel again! So thank you Greg and to the rest of the staff for our amazing stay in New York. We will definitely be back here!
Great rooms, nice staff, lovely Japanese’s restaurant downstairs bed was SO comfy was gutted to leave! Big thanks to Jesus for the friendliest person ever will defo return!
Fantastic wee place staff would do anything to help.
Stayed for 4 nights last week, lovely friendly hotel. Fantastic location. Rooms are small but warm, clean, lots of hot water. I’d certainly stay there again and recommend it.
I’ve been to this hotel twice
Now can not fault it the staff are very helpful and friendly very well situated for all amenities rooms are well furnished very clean the heating was exceptional a very warm room shower was fab too definitely recommend room 710
Small rooms to expensive, hotel charges 10 dollar each to call a shuttle bus and on top again 20 dollar each to ride to the airport. 50 minutes later tou at the airport. Horribly.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Located directly across 50th street from the Gershwin Theater, we actually met some actresses performing there who were staying in the hotel. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. Like all boutique NY hotels located in historic buildings the rooms are small as are the bathrooms. However this was not a problem. I will be staying here again on all my future visits to NYC.
Nearby everything in New York you want to see. It’s very clean & friendly staf.
Absolutely loved my stay here, this was my first time visiting NYC and I wanted to be pretty close to times square and citizenM was in a great location but besides that the people there were some of the nicest people I've met. The vibe was very calm and chill compared to the hustle and bustle outside. The room itself was NYC small I'm from Houston so we have different scales on room sizes but the room layout was good they deficit maximized the space my only complaint about the room was the bathroom didn't have a vent and because of the proximity to the bed well hopefully you and your companion are ok with some noises coming from the bathroom. The rooftop bar was excellent and something you have to see at night, the bar downstairs was great as well one of the bartenders was from Texas and made us feel at home. The whole staff was so cool they would see us in and out the hotel multiple times and they would speak to us every single time and that was refreshing to hear that. I will definitely book here again without a doubt.
Myself and my goddaughter stayed at the Amsterdam Court for five nights in July of this year and our experience was excellent. Having read reviwes before our arrival I must admit I was rather apprehensive, but on arrival I was more than pleased. The location is FANTASTIC. Our room was clean and serviced daily. The staff are friendly and always on hand to assist. I will return to this hotel no doubt.
It's a good hotel overall. It is a bit old and the rooms need a facelift, the place is nice but some of the furniture shows signs of wear. (Addition to my review:) I'm changing my review to five starts because, based to my past review, the staff at the Manhattan replied privately to me offering to take in consideration my review to improve and fix what needs to be fixed. This, to me, is very important and speaks very nice about their commitment to their customers/ guests. Kudos to The Manhattan and I would definitively stay there on my next trip to The Big Apple.
I booked this hotel online and the photos looked great! Got to New York, walked into the Lobby, it's still looked good. Got into the elevator, doors opened and that's where the nightmare began. As soon as the doors opened I was disheartened. The walls were extremely dirty, carpets stained and ripped, paint coming of the walls, and the smell was horrible. I went downstairs to complain and was given a full refund but I did have to fight for it. Counter staff became very rude when I asked for refund. While I was trying to get my refund, 2 other groups of people were having the exact same issue and were wanting refunds. I paid an extra $100 and went across the road to the Sheraton. The only good part of this hotel was the door staff.
A little too close to Times Square for my taste but a great location if you're into that. Certainly very central and easy to get places. Walking distance to the Park. Rooms are pretty standard. The lobby seems to be always packed with tired people. Just strange but fine. Overall, I'm happy with it.
A star I'd say that's enough. I'll say k at the end we're satisfied, we used the hotel only x sleep, but… we slept in a hole-style room, tiny bathroom, smelled a lot, clean towels were brought inside black garbage bags and smelled (clean! ) seen with our eyes because they used the public service elevator, the rooms without a timetable. One day while I was in the bathroom m sn felt the water on my head, lost the suction ventrola… one day we were locked out of the room because s was broken the door, x luck k after these two misfortunes at least c offered breakfast (nothing exceptional, indeed).
also they were doing the work so we found casino x the stairs or out of the elevator…
10 stars only x the location, very strategic and for the kindness of the staff at the reception!
The hotel has a nice theme, pretty good price for Manhattan. However, the shower was cold and it didn't warm up and the rooms are kinda small. Overall I'd recommend it for a comfortable stay next to Broadway.
Love this hotel. So quick and easy to check in and put of. No frills. Huge bed and windows in the rooms. Mood lighting surrounding the bathroom. Two free movies a day — good movies! Large bottles of shampoo and soap in the shower and at the sink. And each room has a small refrigerator. Breakfast is good enough but it is quick and easy. Love the specialty drinks at the rooftop bar.
The room (that I was in) was slightly larger than the size of the double bed. It was so small that the door would only open halfway, hitting the bed. Considering a 170 dollar/night fee (with breakfast not included), I don't feel that's good value for money. I've stayed in better hotels for less money around time square. Aircon was an old window type and it was loud! Staff was friendly. If given the choice, I won't return.
An entire room controlled from an ipad Mini. I am by no means an advocate of Apple products, but I will admit that my experience at this hotel was both unique and interesting. The hotel also has a rooftop bar and a 24/7 bar on the main floor for food and drinks. Very comfy, very friendly, and very streamlined check-in/out as well. Recommended place to stay.
Beautiful arquitecture, great hotel location. Great atmosphere and very trendy. Rooms are clean and spacious. Lobby was very well decorated. The service was excellent. Love the front of the building aand it's decoration. Very unique and stylish. Totally recommend this hotel one of my favorites of Manhattan.
The Manhattan Hotel was one of the best I have ever been to. It's right in the heart of Times Square and couldn't be a better location. Nice rooms and great views. When we found out that our flight had got canceled due to mechanical issues we went downstairs to talk to the receptionist and they made accommodations very quickly for us to stay another night for an extreme discounted rate. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They had plenty of good suggestions on local spots to eat, places to catch a drink and things to do in the area. In particular the Bellman Mike Miller was very professional and had a great personality. He was very approachable and friendly when we wanted suggestions on what to eat or help to better understand the crazy subway system. There were other staff that were very helpful and professional as well. Unfortunately I don't remember their names or didn't catch it. However the hospitality my girlfriend and I received while at the Manhattan was unrivaled from any other Hotel experience.
If anyone is looking for great deals on hotels go to HoteIRaven. Com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around… I would give this a 4.5, it isn't perfect but is a very good hotel. Very clean and the rooms have flooring which is way better than carpeting. I was sick during my stay but if I hadn't been, I would have made use of the lobby area to drink coffee and work, it kind of feels like a shared working space. The rooms could have a bit more storage space but are otherwise great, love that you have an empty fridge which you can use for drinks. Location is great, I will stay here again.
Best location, near the Times Square. Service was great either. I used second floor common lounge with coffee, there were clean and quiet. Overall, awesome experience at the citizenM.
The hotel is extremely well located in the heart of times square. The lobby is very elegant and the staff were very nice and helpful. Aside from the lobby the halls and rooms are a bit dated and could use some updating. Bed and pillows were comfortable and the size of the room was good for in the city. Unfortunately the room was not very clean and there was hair all over the bathroom floor. Things like that are disappointing and quite disgusting.
Great hotel at an affordable price for the area. And what a view from the bar on the roof. Room are small as expected but we'll taught out that you never wish for more space. Bed is really nice too.
Stayed in the hotel for one week. The location was great for getting into times square and the subway. We did have to venture a little to find good food at reasonable price — times square is notoriously expensive. We were at the back of the hotel, for central Manhattan not too loud. For a small budget holiday it was fine as base for exploring the city. Hotel itself was clean enough, tired looking — bit more shabby than chic. Room was fairly small, but workable for two. We only used the room as a crash pad at the end of some very long days, so it worked for us. Shower was fine, although there was an issue with hot water on our last day. The staff were friendly and efficient. We were disturbed by refurbishment works on the first day at 08:00 — but were compensated. We arrived about 02:00, the staff were quick at getting us set up. If you're not too fussy and on a small budget then this will do the job well enough.
Very bad in the service and in the reception, dated rooms and bathrooms of the 800 only positive note the location nothing else.
The bed is great but the rooms are small. Staff is accommodating & friendly. Rooftop bar has amazing views! Enjoying our stay in the great of it all!
Very friendly the staff great location pretty much at 100 meters from Time Square… The idea of cleanliness in New York is unfortunately an optional… The rooms are very spacious… There is no smoking room.!
This is an OK place to stay. If you want a comfortable, clean bed it's fine. The decor is dated. The photos shown on the website I believe are from a renovated floor which cost more to have. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are a good size for their location.
Awesome! It's a great hotel. Everything is very convenient, especially control with iPad and the ability to set an alarm, which will definitely wake you up)
The hotel was under renovation… I spoke to employees multiple times before our arrival and nothing was every mentioned. There was no lobby, they rooms are tiny, the bathroom was a disaster… the shower sprayed everywhere but in the shower… elevator didn't work well… stairs were blocked off … crazy. The employees were nice but not willing or able to help.
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were amazing; friendly and helpful. I visited with my wife who had contacted the hotel to make arrangements for my birthday celebration. The room was decorated with balloons and had a bottle of champagne in the fridge, and we had a voucher for a free drink at the bar. There were also hand drawn notes wishing us a good stay. The decor is interesting, very hipster so can imagine turning some people off. The room had a huge, comfortable bed. The lights, television and window blinds are all controlled by iPad. The television had a huge selection and syncs with your phone for even more options. The bathroom inside the room is the only downside, as it's more of a cubicle than a room itself so could lead to some interesting situations. On the plus side you can play with the lights via the iPad while your partner is showering, which is fun!
Right in Times Square, super located. Beautiful but small Rooms.
They put us in a room with leaking roof. Then asked me to check out and check back in order to change the room. Then they put me in a room where shower spews water all over. I nicely asked for a room change, they told me to come back after 3pm. When I returned they told me sorry reservation cancelled as you did not pack (I did even though they never asked me). This is where it takes customer service to the next low — they investigated my packing by sending their bell hop to my room to verify whether I was lying about being packed or not. Their front desk is run by some kind of police department with a facade of nice customer service talk. The rooms are all different, somethings work in some and something don't work in some while they are reconstructing — — construction crew started working 6:30am this morning and I could not sleep. I still have to spend two more nights here. They did offer me a coupon for free breakfast — — no thanks, keep it.
Pros: Great location and the hotel staff were helpful and polite. Cons: Our bathroom smelled rank. We would have switched rooms if we could. There were daily convenience fees which aren't included in your reservation. This hotels needs some serious upgrades (rust on bathroom pipes, stained hallway carpet, and peeling wallpaper). The rooms looked NOTHING like the pictures on the website. The housekeeping is a joke. When we called to address the rank smell in our bathroom they offered to "freshen" it up vice clean the bathroom. When an housekeeping staff did come up he had some Odor Ban, sprayed the bathroom, didn't say a word and walked out. Plus there's visable cobwebs in the hallways.
Good location but a disaster! The photos are certainly those of the only floor (18) that has been renovated: very salty carpet, dust not made, very noisy, to flee!
Beautiful hotel. Close to everything! the employees are very friendly. Well the cleaning. Missing only one living room breakfast nook.
Very nice and Guests oriented Staff. Area a bit noisy, even at night, but otherwise all right.
Great location for a base for explorers of NYC! A lot of character to this hotel with wonky walls and floors and whilst it's kept clean it's a little tired and in need of some tlc. Wifi only in the lobby and no food service here, room only. Fantastic and friendly staff though they charged me for something I didn't have but refunded easily when challenged which made me suspicious… Bed was the best I've ever slept in!
Good location, friendly staff.
Rooms and furniture a little old.
Top lage, but totally overrated …
The rating is for the cafeteria of the place, in the day of today attended by Mohammed and Dolly, from serving coffee to recommend activities for the day in Manhattan, super friendly and coordiales! A place to visit! Many Thanks!
Pro: Very friendly staff good location Contra: The whole hotel is a construction site (05/18)! It's dirty, loud and everywhere workers are running around.
The rooms are so tiny you can barely unpack your suitcase or walk around the bed. Here, too, the cleanliness leaves something to be desired.
The windows are not dense. It pulls and is loud.
The beds are old and well versed.
Mirrors and tiles in the bathroom have cracks.
Breakfast overpriced for the small selection.
In the breakfast room, water drips from the ceiling.
The whole hotel has hardly any windows, it is dark and musty.
A major overhaul is definitely needed here.
Friendly and accommodating staff. Clean facilities, close to the subway and local fare, and Times Square is literally right up the block. Might not have all the bells and whistles, but if you're gonna be spending most of your time in New York out on the town (as you should! ) this is a great base of operations.
Terrible experience. Extremely expensive. Convenient location. We booked the room through a third-party app and when we arrived the front desk tried to talk us out of staying. They advised that the only room available did not have a TV (we didn't care). After we told them we didn't care, and that we ALREADY BOOKED AND PAID for the room, we waited about 30 minutes for a room — that had a TV. The room was basic, there was an obvious empty corner where a desk/table should have been. A few days later I was charged TWICE for the room (once by the third party vendor, and once by the hotel directly). Calling into their billing department gives you an automated voice saying your call is transferring to "Mailbox #####" where no one answers and you need to leave a voicemail. Given the other reviews about being double charged by this hotel — I will not be surprised if I never get my money back.
Stayed in the hotel for one week. The location was great for getting into times square and the subway. We did have to venture a little to find good food at reasonable price — times square is notoriously expensive. Hotel itself was clean enough, tired looking in the rooms — bit more shabby than chic. Super recommended! Spacious and clean! Excellent location, price/quality.
Centrally located. 5minutes walk from the Times Square. The streets are active at all times however you don't get disturbed by the noise. Room is average — has all that one needs. We took the breakfast-to-go option — the chocolate muffin was delicious. Staff was very courteous particularly Mr. Mohammed who was helpful, prompt and provided the best service.
The room was very clean and comfortable. The room was dirty and badly in need of renovation. Had a whole school class on our floor, which also meant noise until late evening. It smelled like marijuana and the staff was very arrogant. Feurmelder beeps every 45 sec. After 6 times at the reception this has still not been fixed. A cheek.
The only good thing is free water coffee and vending machine on the floor.
Praise to the housekeeping staff who were at least always quite friendly.
Gym and location quite good.
Conclusion: Price performance is not true at all.
The hotel is just like the plants/cacti in the lobby scruffy.
I will not come back!
Sorry!
The hallways look like a construction zone, including unfinished walls and bare lightbulbs with no fixtures hanging out of them. My room did not have wash cloths when I arrived, which required me to ask the front desk to have them sent up. While it was close to the venue for the conference I was in town to attend, other hotels meet that criteria for a similar price without the hallways being so unsightly.
A very nice hotel located just a few blocks from all fun and convenient places, 100% recommended. Nice rooms, clean and very good room service, customer service was excellent and they storage your luggage after check out.
Cute hotel in a very central location in New York. Good customer service. Next to several tourist spots that are recognized or attractions. Cultural or recreational. Price-quality relation good.
Nice outside. Very well placed. It looks like a 4 star and frankly it really does not have very lion.
Great location; it's only about a 10 minute walk to Times Square. There are lots of subway stations that are only minutes away too. When we checked in, our room was upgraded without us asking. House keeping was a bit slow but all the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our room was a bit dated but very spacious and included a large balcony. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi and free filtered water (! )
Ideally placed. Old hotel state of the rooms average for the price.
Hotel very well located, 5 minutes walk to Times Square, in an area with shops, restaurants and cafés, although this did not hear much noise from the street. Large rooms, large bed, large tv… full Bathroom with hairdryer. The tub with good water pressure. Coffee maker in the room. They have a room to leave your luggage since you do the checkout until you have to go, not to go with the suitcases all day.
Lovely hotel set at perfect location, only 30 sec walk to underground. Quite. Good views from our room. Loved the funky colours in the shower/toilet area. Clean. Roomy for New York. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. I would go back in a heart beat ❣️
My review is of the lobby bar and decor. This a great place to meet friends before seeing show or pop in for happy hour. The decór is fabulous and worth a look. Since I live in NYC, I haven’t stayed here. Seems like a cool concept!
Convenient location, nothing wrong with the rooms either. BUT careful people. I had a bad experience overall. When I was checking out it was middle of the night, I paid for it in cash but they still charged me on my credit card which I used to book the rooms online. On top of that they gave me wrong receipts in an envelope, I dont know if that was intentional or a mistake but I didn't check at that time since I was running late for my flight. After I got back home and check my credit card statement I found out that I got charged again, called VISA and made a claim. After few months bank called me and said that hotel claims that I did not pay cash that why I got charged on my card. I called hotel few times to report my complain and every time they told me that someone will get back to me within 48 hrs but no one did. MY only concern is how many people they would have done this to. People work hard for their money!
Well placed. Closes to Times Square, best restaurants, shops, metro stations and the action. Not to mention this hotel is out of the ordinary. Rooms are small but functional. The staff are friendly and helpful. The check-in is awesome and can be managed by yourself. Breakfast/brunch is good. You can eat 24/7! Rooftop lounge is also a plus. It's worth mentioning this hotel do not have a parking. But 2 are located next to it on the same street. I recommend this hotel on a scale of 10, 10/10!
The hotel is very clean and well located. Time square 2 steps to take full advantage of the NY effervescence. Have breakfast outside because the area provided by the hotel is under dimensioned and therefore inaccessible when there is a few people, hence the 3 stars, and Deco to refresh in the floors.
Excellent location The small room but nice. We had some inconvenience with the stove which at times stopped working but nothing serious. Comfortable bed. For my taste I would miss a microwave but it is an extra. We stayed 3 nights and were satisfied.
I loved it! They dropped the ball with my early check in as my flight landed at 6 am but they were so quick to clear up a room for me. The room was clean and not as small as the pictures in previous reviews indicated! I loved my room. The restroom was not small! It was perfect! Front desk super friendly and helpful! It is an a great location and I got a great deal for it! Also, after checking out, they still held my bags for free since my shuttle didn’t pick me up until 4pm. So, I got to explore the city some more before leaving and checking out! Totally recommend! I’m totally staying at this hotel again when visiting NY.
Rooms are dirty. Employees take no pride in their position, the facility, or their customers. Discussed my concerns of dirty room with manager Starema who switched our room twice, first to room with feces and hair on toilet then to room with used dirty water bottles behind the night stand. Asked them to come remove the trash from behind the nightstand at 3:30p. Its still here at 9:15pm. I won't stay here again and I recommend looking for a room elsewhere. There's a Sheraton right across the street. Update- They did make some service recovery efforts today (3/28) and apologized which I really appreciate. Dirty water bottle remains with us.
Nice, hip and cool place, located in the most crowded place in Manhattan. Easy to get to using metro. Modern but small and kind of quirky rooms with smart home features, everything is controlled from an iPad (could be scary unless you're a little tech savvy). Efficient checkin process, can be done online and saves a lot of time. Breakfast options are limited but of good quality. Healthier options such as overnight oats are available.
I would give this a 4.5, it isn't perfect but is a very good hotel.
Every part of our stay was made better and more comfortable by the staff. We were blown away by how helpful the staff here were in every imaginable way. The location was perfect for site seeing and the view from our room is one I won't soon forget. Worth every penny.
Good hotel clean and especially super well placed! In two minutes walk you are on Times Square! There are 3 metro lines nearby you can go everywhere very easily. The staff of the hotel is friendly but do not know how to speak French. The room was very small but did the trick, cons the windows are to redo as the air and the noise passes as if there were none I had to clog the window with cushions so as not to let the air come back. Otherwise the mattress is excellent to my surprise and the duvet very hot nothing to complain about. Quality level Price There's no picture. Very American style but when you go to New York We do not care about the hotel as long as you sleep well and precisely the litter is very good to recover! I recommend for small budgets!
Good value for money… Great central location… to improve cleanliness.
The best location in town. Very close to Central Park, just steps from Times Square! Less than 3 blocks from 3 metro lines. In the surroundings you have food for all tastes and pockets. It is also in the heart of the theater area! No Breakfast available!
A great modern youth compact hotel. Everything is thought out, especially pleased with the system smart number with control through the tablet:)
Good location but very disappointing room very small, seen on a wall, shower leaking and no one came to repair bitter 3 raises.
Then second room located between rooms in works (noise dust) very disappointed.
Awful! 1) We booked three nights there as the price was very attractive: 257 dollars for three nights. 2) When we arrived in the morning, the hotel cancelled our reservation as we didn't arrive during the evening. I've sent an email explaining to the hotel that I was heading there during the morning. 3) The room was a total nightmare: floods in the bathroom, noisy heater, a hole in the window. Very tiny room (like everywhere else in NY). 4) After having changed of room twice, they finally got us a better room. 5) They charged us for this room, I paid 140 dollars more than expected!
Could not have had it better! From staff being extremely accommodating and friendly to a lovely clean room. Very comfortable beds and great size room. Cannot understand bad reviews. Excellent location. Would come back here without hesitation. Thank you.
Overall, I found the accommodations to be satisfactory. The location is ideal for anyone who has business in midtown and the staff was courteous. The bed was comfortable and the room came with all your standard amenities. However, the room we were staying in had faulty heating (the heat wouldn't turn off) which made sleeping rather uncomfortable. The hotel managed to turn it off and gave us a swivel fan, but that only mitigated an uncomfortably warm room. Were it not for this fault, my stay would have been about perfect.
As soon as we got there, the staff was really friendly and let us keep our belongings in their coat room before our check in time. Gave us time to explore the city a bit before check in. The room wasn't bad. Small, but if you're going to New York to sit in your hotel room all day — to each their own. The only problem I had was there was no way to turn off the heater since it was the old style kind. So we had to sleep with the windows open — keep in mind the city of New York never sleeps. The location was amazing as it was only a 3 minute walk from the center of time square. Lastly, which is kind of sketchy is the fact that I came home without my white lace night gown. We did have a maid come in while we were out and about to clean up the place for us. I always do a thorough check of the hotel rooms I stay at before I leave. So I would have seen it. I left it either In the bathroom or on the chair. The day after I got home I called them and they told me the cleaning service manager has had no white gown show up. It's not with me, and it didn't leave the room while we were there. It's not a big deal, but just kind of concerning that something like a night gown (which was expensive) was taken. I never leave valuable things in my hotel rooms — but what if I had? Other than that staff was really nice. Great location.
The room as expected in Manhattan was small, but very cozy we loved the fact of being able to handle everything from the comfort of the bed using the tablet that the hotel keeps in the room, very modern, the messages on the bathroom products and other little things In the Fun Room.
We enjoyed our overnight stay here at the Manhattan! It was clean and the staff were very friendly and efficient! We were in a large group that had to wait for a bus to take us to the pier so we all congregated in the very large lobby. The staff were not flustered in the least and remained pleasant and helpful! We loved the location and would definitely stay there in the future!
I spent 3 days in Amsterdam Court and in 3 days we had to change the room for 3 times! At the beginning the heating did not work, I had to ask for help, then from the windows we had a lot of fresh air coming out (they fixed it), then we had something crazy, bathroom was flooded, water was coming out from the toilet and even our room was flooded! The staff really very nice they quickly found us solutions. Many problems we met, but location of the hotel is really fantastic! You are in the heart of everything you have to see while your staying in NYC!
And, I already miss this beautiful and very charming city!
We had a great time at CitizenM. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and the location right on Broadway near Timesquare a dream! Highly recommended: The breakfast and the rooftop bar!
Stayed here twice now, got a different room each time and both were pretty nice for the price. The rooms are a little small, but we didn't spend much time in the actual room anyways. Both rooms had huge mirrors all around the room and in the bathroom. During our second stay, the bathroom in the room seemed to be updated and quite nice. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. We ended up checking in an hour early each time which was great. The girl that works at the front desk Fri/Sat/Sun during the day is super friendly and helpful. If you book far enough in advance and pre-pay, they offer huge discounts. Location of Amsterdam Court is prime! Times Square and all the major theaters are just steps away. It's nice having the Japanese restaurant attached to the hotel as well.
Hotel full of charm, good location in the middle of Manhattan, very friendly staff.
Clean room, good breakfast though not excessive.
Very friendly staff (especially the staff at Bar John and Dolores). Very good location.
The room is small and needs restoration. The bed is not comfortable.
Compact room but that's to be expected, given the location. The smart room setup is very cool, we made extensive use of the Apple TV's laptop to TV streaming, so much so that we decided to buy one for home! The remote control blinds and LEDs are absolutely class. No kettle or coffee maker in the room one of very few complaints. Location is optimal for exploring NYC. Would definitely recommend and I will certainly be on the lookout for Citizen M hotels on future city breaks.
My wife and I stayed here for five nights from 29/12/17-03/01/18. We can not recommend this place enough. We received a warm welcome on arrival, and we were early but they had a room for us to check in early. The room was small, but we’ve stayed in smaller and this is NYC, Times Square — space is a premium. The room was clean (I believe it had been redecorated fairly recently by the condition of everything in the room) and gave us everything we needed — you’re not going to… be spending much time in your room! My only minor gripe was ho close the toilet was to the wall — you have to sit side saddle! The staff could not have been any warmer, helpful, friendly or knowledgeable. They gave us city guides and tips as well as advice for getting into and out of the street the hotel is on on New Years Eve due to the police cordon for the ball drop. We can not recommend this hotel enough for somewhere to stay, smack bang in the heart of it with lots to see, do, places to eat, drink, party and shop literally in your doorstep! Thank you fo being part of making this special trip even more special. Paul and Victoria Kay.
Just finished my stay here and was very impressed with the services. Room was well cleaned and the bed was HUGE. We called down to reception as we couldn't turn our heating off and they were up to aid within minutes (turns out we were just being stupid! ). We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. Only slight upset was the Wi-Fi wasn't working in the rooms which isn't ideal when you're from the UK and don't want to turn on your data for obvious reasons ££… all very friendly staff and the most important part, it's in the heart of time Square. Outside the door was the school of rock show and 2 minutes down the road was the famous advertising boards, perfect! Highly recommend and would stay again.
The hotel is located in an exceptional location right in the centre within walking distance of Times Square. The first day we were given a room on the fifth floor old and cold (slept with 15 degrees) after several complaints the next day they moved us to the seventeenth floor in a decent room and especially hot! Very comfortable bed and housekeeping performed every day. Hotel with no big claims but good price view of location.
The whole concept of the hotel is very cool, everything (TV, music, lights, shades, temperature) was controlled by a very user friendly iPad and it all worked perfectly. It’s a very small room however most hotels in Times Square are so that’s not really an issue and checking in and out was super smooth with no problems at all. There’s an obvious hipster vibe about the whole place that kind of feels over the top at times and it ended up making the experience less convenient. The food was definitely subpar but we never planned on eating there much anyway so that wasn’t too bad. All in all the only major problem was that when we entered the room our sheets were clearly dirty and they were riddled with stains. After asking the front desk for new sheets all they did is bring some up to our room and tell us that eventually someone will come change them for us, but they never did and housekeeping never visited once except for when we were checking out.
I was so impressed by the customer service at the citizenM. The food and drinks were delicious. The rooms were extremely clean and exactly as described. The atmosphere was perfect. We will definitely be visiting again.
Don’t let Google images deceive you. Although the staff and reception area are nice and clean The rooms are atrocious. They are spacious for an NYC hotel however I feel as if I am in a sleazy motel. Hallways are dirty, the walls are filthy and outdated with damages throughout. The bathroom is nothing like the photo shown. It is old and run down in the bathtub was dirty upon checking in. They do have PURE toiletries! Hairdryer has seen better days and cut off in mid use. Walls in the bedroom are dirty with scuff marks throughout the baseboards and mid wall. Only two plugs usable, the rest in accessible and makes hard for charging. The wallpaper is peeling and the curtains look as though they’ve been in the room for 30 years. I’m not knocking them because they’re outdated but because they look dirty. The door leading to the room was painted white about 10 years ago and is filled with damages and dirt fingerprints and all. There’s also damage to the door that looks as if someone kicked it and that’s on every single door. The bed is a good size and had I not actually smelled the clean but close I would’ve turned around and left right there. The hotels is comparable to a Quality Inn or one of those pay by week motels. Needless to say I will not stay here again not recommend it.
I booked having found a very convenient offer for NY…
And in relation to the price paid I found this property outstanding.
Rooftop scenographic, gym OK, breakfast great, room small but fun, Hall eclectic and cozy, great location.
Only flaw:
Heating/air conditioning that shoots on the bed… Unbearable because it gives me a sore throat;
I had to turn it off.
Breathtaking view… very central and not very expensive… we were fine with the comfy beds… a bit outdated needs renovation.
Great hotel in the middle of New York everything is nearby. We were here for New Year's Eve this was an experience. Services U Personal Super.
Nice room, near Times Square. Friendly staff and nice rooftop bar.
The hotel was amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfy and the room was modern and used smart technology for everything. Really enjoyed staying here.
Very nice establishment a little dated and lacks a bit of housekeeping in the corridors but we had a nice week in early December I recommend.
Absolutely great hotel! Great staff, everyone is so friendly. I had a room on the 17th floor. It was quiet, no noise from the streets at all. Plus the room welcomes you!
Nice cozy hotel. Rooms are small yet fit the purpose. On the same street as Rockefeller Center at NBC 5 or so blocks away. 2 to 3 blocks from Times Square, you can see all the light from the street corner. Great location. Also walking distance to Central Park.
The rooms were clean and nice. The staff was very helpful. The location was amazing. The rooms were small and the shower ended up leaking a little. The iPad remote kept not charging sometimes and it was impossible to get the mood light to just turn off without turning off all the lights with the master switch. All-in-all, it was an enjoyable stay and we'd definitely stay again.
Under $100 a night, right off Time Square, clean, warm (it was freezing outside), hot water, nice decor. Nice staff, early check in — this was THE BEST value I’ve experienced by far in Manhattan, as far as hotels go. I absolutely recommend it and will definitely stay here again!
Stayed in room 614 on 30th Nov for a week and was pleasantly surprised. This hotel is an old hotel and is clearly in the process of being updated. I think we were lucky to be allocated one of their renovated rooms. I was concerned prior to our stay due to some reviews, however we had a great time. Our room was warm (we actually used air con), we had hot water at all times, with a good shower, plenty of room and clean too. The location is what you book this hotel for and it really is a great location, especially for first timers like us. The staff are a credit to the hotel too, always very happy to help. Thank you for a pleasant stay.
Very modern, fun experience.
Superb entrance hall and room connected to the top!
It is only well located but its facilities very deficient for the price.
Great location near Times Square and subway. Stayed in a newly renovated room, but the heating system wasn't working correctly so it became really cold (which was an issue since it was winter). Also, can hear flowing water which is loud enough to wake you up. Staff was friendly and attentive. The engineer who investigated the heating was prompt and genuinely cared. I would stay again, but not until new room issues are worked out. Only negative is Wi-Fi not free in rooms. Many hotels offer this complimentary to guests.
Great location! Staff extremely friendly and helpful. We LOVE the gentlemen that work the little coffee shop in the mornings. Rooms were nice and clean. This is an older hotel but again, very clean. Beds super comfy!
A small but nice very hip, new and casual hotel super centrally located in Times Square!
Totally nice and helpful staff, modern and clean rooms, high end with tablet equipped with which you can control everything!
Free Wi-Fi, PC's free of charge and free printout!
In the truest sense of the word — top — is also a stylish rooftop bar from which you can see Times Square, which is just 2min walk away! After an exhausting day of sightseeing, probably another bonus to marvel at the brightly lit city in its full splendour with a drink!
Overall a top hotel — highly recommended!
Great Hotel in the middle of town. Go out and take 2 steps and you're at time teams. 10 minutes walk and you're in Central Park. 2 metro lines very close. The room was very clean Friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are small but well organized. Under the large drawer bed for suitcases, 2 wardrobes, 1 wide safe.
What about… All perfect!
The Amsterdam Hotel is at the perfect location if you’re playing on Broadway, Rockefeller Center or Time Square. We walked everywhere. The staff were amazing. Extremely friendly, and attentive. The rooms are small, however we were not there to stay in the room. We are there to see New York.
The location of this hotel was really the only good thing about it. It’s an odd hotel with a somewhat spruced up lobby, dingy halls and elevators and fairly decent room decor. Our room was small, which was fine, but it was extremely warm. We visited over the Thanksgiving weekend and it wasn’t very cold. The air conditioning unit kept shorting out and there was no way for us to turn down the radiator. The second night in the hotel the room got so hot we had to call the desk in the middle of the night to have someone come “fix” the radiator. This only resulted in a room that was still too hot and a radiator making loud hammering noises for the rest of the night, preventing us from getting any sleep. We couldn’t get out of the hotel fast enough the next day! We explained all of this to the front desk employee the next day only to receive poor customer service and a pretty lame “I’m sorry. ” Needless to say we will not be staying here again.
The hotel is super well located in the heart of Manhattan. It's an old building a little remodeled. The attention of its employees is good and there are bilingual Spanish-English staff. The building has some flaws such as heating but at least the employees offer you other solutions.
Point against: Charge 9, 49 USD per day Wi-Fi in the rooms.
If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. Com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around… First class hotel enhanced by absolute world class staff. I cannot say enough about this unique experience from the ambience created by the mesmerizing art deco theme. However the world class staff that assisted my family with care and compassion when we received notice of a family death. From the nice young man who got coffee in the early morning hours to the night manager that assisted me to the day manager "Marne? " who credited our shortened stay when he simply didn't have to. Simply incredible kind hearted staff or should I say Citizens living the culture of Citizen M.
Very good location-minimal comfort but under renovation. Friendly staff — and the most, the roof top with the sunset!
Cheap hotel in super location almost directly at Times Square.
Stayed for 3 nights booked two rooms. I was very concerned after reading some reviews. At check in we were upgraded to the refurbished rooms on level 5. Both rooms were fantastic, one was a twin with a balcony overlooking Times square the other had an enormous king bed. All staff we had contact with were very friendly and location is amazing.
Great modern atmosphere. Very clean rooms with mood lighting for whatever mood your in, weather it's romantic or business. Also very delightful amenities.
Beautiful design, amazing atmosphere and creative concept. A must try! For the lovers of new style and high tech spaces.
Very disappointed. I booked three rooms in this hotel for the group I was traveling with. While the location was fantastic, and the staff was very friendly, I feel that the website is FALSE ADVERTISING! The majority of the rooms look NOTHING like the pictures online. They are old and run down. The wallpaper is peeling, the pipes in the bathroom are rusting, and our bed was sunken in. Everything is dark and dingy. The lobby is beautiful, so I was very excited when we arrived, but as soon as the elevator doors opened onto our hallway I felt as if I were in a horror movie. Do not stay here. (Unless you're on the 5th floor… the only floor that has been renovated, and the where they obviously took all of the pictures. )
First class hotel enhanced by absolute world class staff. Dale and Debbie Bauerkemper.
Great location near times square, theatres and subway. Bathroom is very worn and dirty. Rooms are tiny but that is to be expected this close to the centre of Manhattan. No in-room free wireless which is very frustrating.
So you'll head read how small the rooms are… they aren't as small as you think! A decent size, well specced, the only thing is you need to be pretty comfortable with the person you are sharing the room with, as the bathroom doesn't have much in the way of sound proofing in the way that a normal door does. Shower is big enough for 2, and there is porn on the telly. Result!
Very good location. Room very simple but sufficient. Staff in general very unfriendly. Cleaning poor.
Room very small, barely space for the suitcases.
The location is phenomenal, just a few minutes from Times Square, with metro near by and about 15 minutes walk from Central Park. The service is not very good, they are quite edges, and do not help you too much if you have a problem. Were left without a tip and we looked bad because of it. That they hadn't tried to kick the bags. Location is great, near Times Square, subway station and Central Park. Services is not so good, they're rude, don't help a lot if you have any issue. The lost the tip because treated our baggage so or badly.
Very good location. Very good deal, the cleaning service was good and wiffi free, that with this it has no price.
For the price in Times Square it is fine. You are paying solely for the location. The hotel is fine but old and needs updating. I was expecting much for the price and it met those expectations. It was fine, I didn't go to NYC to stay in my room.
It is simply a beautiful city.!
Staff was amazing, lobby is beautiful, and that's where the good news stops. We were downgraded from our original room. The room was old, bathroom was so small you could hardly get into the bathroom and shut the door. AC never cooled down. Wallpaper peeling everywhere with mold growing behind it. Carpet was old, dark and nasty. Bathroom was so outdated, small and in need of major repairs. Water stains and leaks all of walls. Not a happy camper. Tried to add pics but it won't let me.
Good location if you are going for the first time to New York. Such a step already, which you can access by walking or subway to most of the attractions of the city. The room is comfortable and clean but the corridors are very thrown to less, obviously there never was a interior remodeling and wall-paper looks dirty and neglected. I highlight the friendliness of the concierges before any concerns of the city.
Planned a trip for my birthday to NYC. Used Priceline to book the trip. Because of the weekend my birthday is, hotels were running $240 per night. I paid over $400 for 2 nights in NYC. I had no plans to cancel but unfortunately a HURRICANE resulted in my flight being canceled which was ok because I had to pack up my house. Now, what wasn't ok was that the hotel refused to refund the booking… I understand policy, but a hotel that is unwilling, even in the most extraneous circumstances, to REFUND a customer under threat of hurricane, is a hotel that is probably hurting for business and trying to hold on to every penny they get. And if they're hurting for business, there are usually good reasons why. Rethink staying here, would be my advice.
We were very disappointed to see the poor quality of our room compared to the photos online and to the modern atmosphere set by the lobby. The hallway carpets are dingy and raveling with poor lighting, the housekeeping staff carried on VERY loud conversations which could be heard clearly in our room. The walls seemed very thin as you could also hear normal conversations in the hall and neighboring rooms. Very few accessible outlets (none near either nightstand), and the vents and smoke detector looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. The bathroom's wallpaper and bathtub was peeling with stained grout. Also, the daily fees for Wifi and gym (which is tiny) was a surprise. 2 stars only because the bed was comfortable, the lobby staff was great, and the location was unbeatable. Not totally dissatisfied, but not the luxurious experience we were expecting.
The place is dirty. The rooms are rediculously small. As you walk through the cramped hallway you get the feeling nobody has cleaned or painted this place in 30 years. The room was a joke the bed was on a piece of Formica essentially laying on the ground with a 30-year-old crappy wall air conditioner stuck in the window that was so noisy it hurt your ears. It's painfully obvious that no one who is affiliated with this hotel cares about it at all. I highly recommend staying someplace else.
Beautiful building in a beautiful place. Alas I wasnt staying here, I preferred to rent a flat in Bronx. Much much cheaper.
Had a small trip for a few days, hotel room was a lot nicer than expected with the cost. Didn't have a single problem at all; staff was extremely friendly and always helpful.
Great location. It's ironic because the lobby looks very glamorous, but the rooms are motel 6 quality. My room had a bathtub that looked like it was rotting. The soundproofing was terrible so you could hear a lot of noise from the outside. Very overpriced for the room quality. Very dingy. If you are in New York to party and want a hotel with a good location this place is adequate. If you want a comfortable room where you can sleep look elsewhere. Very overpriced with a litany of fees.
Hip, quirky boutique hotel just blocks from Times Square. The rooms are the tinniest I've ever stayed in (literally, the king sized bed takes up 3 corners of the room, wall to wall), but they make up for it with quirky but useful conveniences. For example, you can change the color of the LED lights, open and close the curtains or blinds, turn operate the TV, stream from your mobile, etc. From a control tablet next to the bed. The place is definitely geared towards a more youthful crowd, or people who like something different and unique. They're supposed to start doing robot deliveries for room service, but that wasn't ready during my stay. Tiny, quirky rooms that are super comfy, with great modern amenities and super close to Times Square. I loved it, but I know it's not for everyone (for example, my parents or Grand parents would not approve; but they aren't the target demographic of this place). I would totally come back, if I ever find myself needing a hotel in NYC.
The room was super small. It was technology driven, which was nice, but that is where it ends. Worst of all, housekeeping stole my laptop charger… or at least I assume it was housekeeping. I suppose housekeeping may have turned it into management and they stole it. Either way, it is gone courtesy of citizenM. There was no parking. One of the staff directed me to the lot across from "Chicago". After driving through the NY trafffic to get there I was informed the lot was full "except for hotel guests". Guess what, citizenM was not one of the hotels they considered as a participant. I WILL NOT be returning to citizenM!
If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. Com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around… It was a clean, modern hotel with lots of new technology. I was there for a single night to see Hamilton, and thought what time I spent in the hotel was wonderful. We had drinks at the bar after, and it was nice and private being only guests from the hotel. The beds were huge and comfortable, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to people that are coming to New York in the future.
Excellent Restaurant Decent price, kitchen, setting and staff at the top!
I was a little concerned when booking after reading some of the reviews, but after staying at the hotel I believe the negative reviews were way too harsh. It is an older hotel and could use a little renovation but I guarantee if they did the renovations, the room rates would go up dramatically. The accommodations were good, room was clean, bed was comfortable, location was AWESOME, and the price was very reasonable for New York. If you are looking for a Marriott-type hotel, stay at a Marriott (and expect to pay twice as much). If you are looking for a nice, reasonably priced hotel with a great location that is perfect for a busy New York vacation, I highly recommend this hotel. I would definitely book here again.
Staff were good and location excellent.
Seems place is getting a refurb as it needs it.
Moved to a extremely small room to a room with a bit more room. Had old box TV that picture wasn't great. Maybe better once everything is fixed in refurb.
This hotel was clean, affordable, and the location was perfect for activities in the theater district and Times Square. There is also a metro stop right outside that follows 8th Ave. Uptown along Central Park and downtown to other attractions like the High Line and Brooklyn. The staff was extremely helpful and polite. There weren't a lot of extra amenities, but it was a perfect place to come back to at the end of a long day. Altogether a great find!
Central Hotel comfortable. To move. Average rooms, daily housekeeping and friendly staff. Negative that you have to pay Internet connection in the rooms.
Pretty good hotel. Its location is perfect as a 5 minute walk to Times Square, the only problem is that the rooms are very small. After the value for money is rather satisfying.
Very good value considering the location. Eye on the size of the room. Mine did not reach the 8 square meters, which was not a problem since I was alone and I stopped only 2 days… but otherwise it could have been.
Until you don't see it, you can't imagine how shocking that is.
Life is reborn and the heart beats faster in the heart of Times Square.
My first time to USA — felt that the Room too small and nothing like the photos.
"Has Luxury Amenities, Decor, And Guest Services!
The Amsterdam Court to unwind in lavish comforts. The classic European decor mixed with the Art Noveau furnishings provide guests a comfortable stay in a chic environment"
Air conditioning very noisy. Bathroom shower attachment loose on wall, cracked wash basin and floor tiles. I have bruises on shins where kept walking into bed frame — ouch.
Good location though within easy access to good pubs and food, time square. Below floor level not very good. External seating area average, however internal needed a bit more TLC Wi-Fi free only on lobby and roof terrace — which was only open between 7-10.
Beds clean and made everyday.
Only offered free tea, coffee, cold water and ice.
Visited between 1st — 5th
Sept 2016
Super place for entertainment, since everything that vuscas what you find here, from shop to restaurants, hotels, a cinema and a very good place to enjoy with the family as there are a lot of safety and entertainment.
Very cool hotel with all the necessary ammenities and a very enjoyable decoration and design. Rooms are small (it's NY! ), but it has great common working spaces if you need to spend a few hours working in the hotel. Very nice staff. A bit pricy, but I could get a good offer through howtire.
Very good for lots of photos.
Tourist place total… but you gotta go if you haven't seen it you have not been in New York. Although here is not really to any new yorker … I love it.
Unique and wonderful. The room is about the size of an imperial suite, but even that is its charm, because all services are of great quality. Next month will be my third time at Citizen M and can't wait.
CitizenM sets the bar high for NYC hotels. Brilliant concept! Who stays in their room that much anyway when visiting NYC?! Our room was perfectly clean and very well appointed. Friendly and SUPER-helpful staff. I won't get into all the bits and bobs about the hotel, you can read about those on their website. :-) HIGHLY recommended! We'll be back next year!
This place is beautiful I went with my beautiful family and the truth you do not want to go home I love New York.
The first room I was placed in was small and had a queen bed, I saw that the other rooms were bigger and had a king bed, so I asked the reception to place in another room. And the gave me room 1618, which should not be habitable because of noises coming from the elevator mechanism. the sheets had a smell that was extremely unpleasant, the bathroom had hair in it, the floors were dirty, there was blood on the bedside lamp, and the general condition of the hotel was bad with the exception of the lobby. because of the noise coming from the elevator, and the smell of the sheets, I had a bad sleeping quality.
Spectacular location, service, 10 points, cafes and top quality restaurants, fully-equipped rooms; really 5 stars.
The rooms are comfortable, the service impeccable, the style I liked.
The hotel has a good gym, much better than expected for the hotels but guests have to paste.
Excellent location. It's within walking distance of times Square and central park. I didn't spend much time in the hotel because I was exploring new York but my time spent there was comfortable. The room was fairly small but that's what you would expect. The bed was extremely comfortable though. The only problem was the extremely poor breakfast.
Disgusting, poorly maintained. The rooms needed to be vacuumed and dusted, the carpet in the hallway need to be shampooed, doors need to be painted, and the elevators need to be cleaned and polished. The only redeeming quality was the front desk and bell staff, who were polite and helpful. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.
A hotel very comfortable, in the times square. The rooms are a little old but very correct and with all what one need, box of security, until iron, tv, coffee / you free and in all them flats there are carafes of water ore (free) and machines vending.
Quite simple and had all your basic needs with a bit of a quirk! Rooms and building are very clean. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The room is small but comfortable. Not a lot of space for our luggage (our suit cases are quite big), but we were able to work that out ourselves.
I would give this hotel zero stars if I could. Yes, it is lower priced than most hotels in the area but the quality of the hotel is no better than a motel on the side of a highway near Newark airport. I was in town for business and, although I promised myself I'd NEVER EVER again book a hotel near Times Square, it was unavoidable as my trip was last minute and most hotels were either booked or $400/night. Keep in mind, I supposedly got an "upgrade" from the room I originally booked… The bad: -In general, the room looked like something out of The Shining -Poor housekeeping service (did not clean my room after the first night) -Toilet ran ALL NIGHT LONG -The entire hotel smells of burning plastic -1 of 2 elevators broken -Carpet in the hallways and the hallways looks like it's about 50 years old -The bed was sagging in the middle and terribly uncomfortable -The room is constantly stuffy and hot… the AC unit is a window unit and probably only puts out about 5 BTUs -No power outlets anywhere near the bed so you have to charge your cell phone all the way across the room (like me, also most people's alarm clock) -The TV is about 20 years old is about the size of a postage stamp -The Cable TV is terrible. Pixelating picture and mostly blacked out channels. The good: -The water pressure on the shower is good. -Staff was polite -Free coffee & tea in the morning -It's cheap for a hotel near Times Square -
Great reasonably priced hotel in a prime location! Room was small but very nice looking. Would highly recommend if wanting to be right by Times Square.
Extremely rude, obnoxious, and horrible service in all departments. Front desk, bell desk, managers, even the garage workers. Disgusting and unhelpful attitude. They lost our package and refused to look around and even try to see if misplaced. Blamed us for having a package sent to us and that its not their fault if something is lost or stolen. Literally wouldn't even try and yelled at me when I was nice and calm and wasn't even blaming them, just was asking them to check. Will never recommend any person to stay here as no hotel is worth staying at, when customer service is the lowest priority. Seriously horrific and have stayed in ny tons of times, never again will I try a new hotel. Do not stay here unless you want attitude and nasty faces throughout your stay to ruin every day there.
Citizen m is in a central location near times square that offers easy access to the subway and surrounding tourist attractions. The rooms are quiet and medium sized with customizable mood lighting and attractive modern decor. There are on site dining options including a rooftop bar, breakfast, and a coffee and whiskey bar. Check in is straightforward. The hotel serves as a comfortable home base for a tourist visiting times square.
A hotel very well located (in the 7th. And the 51). Rooms comfortable and clean. As it is a hotel very big, the treatment is impersonal. Valet parking annex of the building.
Despite all the awful reviews I read about this hotel I was sort of pressed to book it due to the location, price, and booking at the last minute. I was very happy with the Hotel! It was exactly what I expected. I was great for accommodating 13 girls for a Bachelorette weekend in the city!. It was close to Times Square and easy access to the subway and restaurants. The room was clean and with the accomodations expected. The staff members where awesome specially Rose Jean (who gave us 3 set of NYC mugs, welcome chocolates, key chains, and a free upgrade for one of the rooms for our Bride to be) That was just astounding! Mohammed & Dolly at the " Grab and Go " gave us all complementary breakfast snaks the morning of out departure. It was just fantastic, at the right price and at the perfect location.
We had an amazing stay at CitizenM NYC. The décor in the lobby was tremendous, modern and there was so much to look at and do. Artwork and books lined the walls. The coffee bar was always available and the coffees were delicious. Our room, what can I say, was cool. Easily the most modern room I've stayed in. The TV, lights, and window coverings were all controlled from an iPad. The room was small but at the same time, big. Every room houses an oversized king bed and a huge window. Our view was not great on the 5th floor but we didn't care. The bathroom was a curved, frosted glass enclosure that held a stand-up shower and toilet. You could separate these by a curtain for privacy. The lights in the bathroom were colored and again, controlled by the iPad. You had a choice of 2 shower heads, a hand-held or the huge rain head. The sink was outside in the main room. Ample room for a place to sleep and rest between outings. I totally recommend this plave and will to anyone I know of going to NYC. The location is excellent with Times Square right around the corner, Central Park a shot walk north, Flatiron just to the south and endless sights to see right in the neighborhood. I also recommend Hell's Kitchen restaurant. Great Mexican food.
Clean but needs updating, plugs kept falling out of the plug sockets. Big dip in the bed very uncomfortable. Room was very small hard to get round the bed. But staff very helpful and pleasant Great location.
This hotel was exactly what my wife and I were looking for on our New York vacation. It was close to Times Square and easy access to the subway so we could see all the sites. The room was clean, and I appreciated the complimentary travel water bottles, they came in very handy. They even held our luggage on our last day, which was very nice of them. However the bell hop service was a little slow and their computer/business center was minimal. It was the right price, at the right place.
This was my second visit to NYC and the first for my partner. We caught the subway direct from JFK and ended up about a 2 minute walk from the hotel (W 50 th Street). When we walked in to say we were amazed was an understatement. We stayed for five nights, including eating at the hotel once for breakfast. Our room was on the 17 th floor meaning we only had a short journey to the roof bar which was out of this world. The cocktails there were great and the few was breath-taking, especially when it snowed. The staff were so friendly and polite and couldn't do more to assist us, even calling a restaurant to confirm a booking for us. It’s the little things like that I like. Would I visit again? Without a second thought, ideal location, amazing hotel and awesome staff. Thank you.
Great Property. Great Location. Great Staff. What more could you ask for? We stayed at The Manhattan once again and as always we are very happy with our experience. I have stayed at other hotels in NYC — this hotel allows you to take in the NYC experience that you can't get at other hotels. Location is a really big factor and The Manhattan Hotel nails it. Quit spending hours searching and reading reviews… book this hotel and start packing your suitcase!
The United States tourism the most terrible hotel, no. We spent at least an hour in. The front Desk staff took our reservation and another mix-led to the delay of the process, and a push off, saying it wasn't his fault, system fault, what compensation measures are available. Service attitude is extremely not polite. Room is small, smell not to say that people don't have manners, don't come to stay.
I went on vacation to NYC two weeks ago with my mother and my brother.
A hotel where the people are super friendly, to the look and good guys.
Rooms may not be super modern, but there is all it takes and the MATTRESS OF MADNESS! Super comfortable!
Having seen the opinions of people talking about the noise, I brought with me to the balls plugs but I've finally not used.
I hurt myself during the holidays and the staff asked me everyday how I was doing, which was very nice.
Great location, we could go out at any time, 24/24, to buy something to eat.
Near the Metro.
I highly recommend this hotel!
Location was great. Hotel staff were great. Rooms and hallways were a bit out dated. Halls and hallway carpets were dingy. Overall still bot bad enough to drip down to 3 stars. Had a good time.
I have stayed in their hotels in London and Amsterdam and have come to love the eccentric charm of the settings, the modern tech in the bedrooms and the warmth of the staff. The breakfast is good with a wide selection of food available. The roof top bar is a nice touch and my wife and I made good use of it every evening. If you're trying to choose a hotel in Manhattan, I thoroughly recommend this hotel.
Very good location… excellent… the best people to the public… Williams… Dolores and William excellent people.
Thank you again.
Super location, very friendly staff, stylish Hotel.
The citizenM hotels are great. The rooms are small but spotlessly clean. Beds are great. I would suggest taking a look before you decide. Could have spent all morning in the shower. Check out the amenities. This is a fun hotel for just hangin. (Traveling husband and wife; 65 FYI. )
My wife and I actually didn't stay here but her brother and his girlfriend did and we were a little jealous. Hey do a great job of catering to young adults. The lobby is more of a lounge with interesting artwork and a fully stocked bar. The rooms are fully controlled by IPads. That means the blinds, the TV even the color of the lights in the room can be changed with the iPad. The rooms are small so don't try to wheeze more than two people in one but you shouldn't be spending much time in your room anyway, it's NYC! It's not the cheapest place you'll ever stay in but if you can find a deal at this place you should jump on it!
First the good: the hotel has an A+ location close to Times Square and all it has to offer. Public transportation, activities, plenty of restaurants, etc. Are all just a short walk away. Also, the staff that we dealt with were very professional and courteous. In particular, Allison at the front desk could not have been more pleasant! Unfortunately, the management of this hotel does not display the same level of customer service with the way they nickel-and-dime their customers. The "free continental breakfast" that pops up on their website is not free, it is a package which one must reserve, and it is not included if one reserves a non-refundable rate package. The hotel also adds a mandatory $20 facility fee/night to the reservation, which is not uncommon, but nowhere was it mentioned it would be included when we made the reservation through our credit card rewards program. Front desk staff, to their credit, did remove this when we complained. However, management should think twice and consider if the unpleasant surprises are really worth making your hotel seem marginally cheaper when doing a web search. Finally, as others have pointed out, the hotel is on a system where the entire building is either running heat or A/C. This is not unusual for a building of this age, but it is something to keep in mind when planning an early spring/late fall stay.
The location was right near times square so it was very convinientm. The room was really nice and clean, provided us with towel and ither things we need. We went to the frint desk and they helped us a lot, although the tline was long at times. I also booked my bag with storage and they were really nice about it. My whole stay at this hotel was great.
Let me start by saying this was the absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. Yes the location is great but other than that it was an absolute dump. The pictures are very misleading online because the lobby is very nice but all of the hallways and rooms are disgusting. When we first got there we noticed stains on our sheets. We also noticed we didn't have a remote, gum on the lampshade and the room barely looked like it had been cleaned. When I called I asked if the hotel had ac and they said yes. Come to find out they DO have AC but not in individual rooms so the Hotel either needs to be on heat or AC. The room was so hot we could barely sleep and my brother had to run 13.1 miles the next morning. We we're on the 19th floor so we were unable to open the window very much. I also asked if they had refrigerators in the room and I was told no but I could get one upon request. I explained to them that the refrigerator was a necessity for us because my daughter has a kidney disease and is on medication that needs to be refrigerated. They told me to call on our way there and that they would have one set up in the room. Our Drive was 5 hours away & I called them before we left the house all the way up until we were in the parking garage and still never got someone to pick up. When we got there it was a madhouse. There was a line from the elevator to the door & it took us almost 25 minutes to get checked in and on the elevator.
We rated the experience on several different aspects and ended with an average of 2.125. Upon arrival the lobby is very impressive; the hotel lobby is huge with comfortable seating that makes you look childish, it smells like roses, and you won't be able to get closer to Times Square. However the rooms' wallpaper is peeling, the outlets are hidden, the key cards are impossible to get right the first time, and there's no where to throw large pizza boxes without being judged. Also you would have to wait 10 minutes on the elevator and when you finally caught a cart, it was full and you'd have to wait for the next one. They also would block off the stairs when it was really busy. The revolving doors were quite fun, though.
I forgive the 2 stars are purely for location and friendliness of the staff at the front Desk. Unfortunately, our room was musty, the TV was always disorders, particularly clean it was and the light was broken. In the bathroom, also only 1 of 3 bulbs went out, that is to say, we had to find us for the first time in the semi-dark. After we asked 2 x to exchange the bulbs, this was done also. The bathroom was very worn and unsightly. Certainly I will book this Hotel again. The location is super, you leave the Hotel and in the middle is immediately "in".
It is a hotel to sleep and point. You don't ask for more, and if you're perhaps a little scrupulous not to like.
Everything within Times Square is a short walk away, there's no need to catch a cab even in freezing weather, and the hotel doors have people walking through them at all times. Though what truly makes this hotel shine is the staff. Everyone's so kind, calm, and willing to help that you'd think you weren't in New York City at all. Especially Mohammed and Dolly, who were working the snack bar on both days I'd visited. My grandmother and I even managed to have a pretty solid conversation with Dolly as she'd finished her shift, and she's the sweetest woman I've met in such a hectic city. In addition to them are the cleaning staff, who weren't only kind but always on top of their game. Coming back to a clean room after every time I'd stepped out of the hotel for a bit was impressive. The Manhattan at Times Square definitely feels dated though. The moment you walk in you may be greeted with a pretty solid lobby, but once you enter the elevators it's all downhill from there. The hallways were dark enough to make me feel as if I were walking through the set of a horror movie. People walking down the hall looked like shadows! My bedroom, albeit clean, made me want to spend more time outside if it than in it, and the Wi-Fi costs you despite it frequently kicking you off. The walls are also pretty thin, so you'd better hope your neighbors aren't loud. In the event that your room is solely to be used for sleeping and bathing, The Manhattan at Times Square Hotel is a phenomenal choice.
I would give this hotel * 4 for location. The room we adaquet and the decor was plain. Our view from our bedroom was an entire brick wall that was the next building! Cabin fever … just as well we wer only using our hotel as a base. Nice on tap coffee in the foyer through.
Just got back from New York, my husband and I in a CitizenM stay three nights. We're here to spend time really is the best, and we like everything here it! Honestly, we met each of the staff are very friendly, very helpful, and they seem to really like them engaged in the work. Everything's cool, clean and comfortable. Really like their Hall and the rooftop bar, the Breakfast convenient and delicious! We take a Packed coffee purchase Breakfast free unlimited refills on. In the beginning.
Hotel staff was courteous and helpful. Allowed an early check-in and held our bags for us the next day after check out so we could continue exploring. Hotel is obviously a little older but that's nothing to knock a star off for. Rooms were clean, Location was great, and cost was very affordable. Our one first world grievance would be there weren't any outlets near the bed so charging our phone at night wasn't very convenient. Great stay over all and would come again!
Stayed as part of trip to NY. Room basic but clean. Wifi is not free unless you go roof. Staff are friendly and hotel is on the doorstep to times square.
Excellent location! We walked every where, very central! The hotel is in the process of renovating, but still fairly clean everywhere. When we arrived we were on the 22 floor not renovated the room was still satisfactory however as we were staying for multiple days we asked to be moved to the renovated floor on the 5th which is also where the gym is. They had no problem accommodating us after the first night! Very happy with all the staff… Mohammad rocks!
Central it is almost impossible — I had with my room seemingly happiness, neither old nor shabby, accordingly, from my side a recommendation.
The stay was really great. The Hotel is modern and the art is spectacular. The staff was friendly and was there to help us every step of the way. The rooms are very very small but l, thats kinda the point. The hotel is your home, the lobby is your living room, your room is your room. The bar on the top floor was great and the view was awesome even though the building is the shortest in the area. We recommend this hotel if you like very modern decor modern humor which can be found writen on the wall in the hotels iconic red, black, and white colors. The CitizenM is located NEAR time square and features such as free Wi-Fi and 2 free movie rentals a night. Have no fear, stay here.
Excellent location of the hotel, has what you need to spend a good stay and rest… a few blocks from central park and times square… all super close, excellent places to eat around and includes free Wi-Fi, water and coffee. Basic but ideal (not luxurious)
My experience was actually a one-star sort of thing. But that was the fault of the company I keep. The hotel itself was fine. The nonetheless necessary customer service aspects of this self-service hotel have greatly improved since the opening a year or two ago. I remember being very frustrated back then. Or maybe I'm just easier now. Either way, I guess, the result is the same.
The service was awful. The rooms were dirty. When we arrived we had been waiting for 20 minutes in our room for the luggage and it hadn't arrived yet. I had to go and ask for it myself because nobody informed the staff to take the luggage to our room. We spent one day with no hot water (I went in winter). The carpets of the aisles were so slovenly. The rooms were messy and untidy. When we left the hotel, we had to take the luggage down ourselves because all the staff was occupied and we would had to wait 30 minutes if we wanted to have the luggage taken down. If we would have waited, we would have lost our flight. I would never recommend this hotel.
Excellent customer service Dolores, William and the other guy (don't remember his name) excellent service, nice and kind people! Housekeeper in 21 floor wonderful! Everything's clean and neat Ray with the baggage… Ths bro! Congrats team!
Very bad. Rooms and furnishings very dated and shabby. We were on honeymoon for 4 nights. 3 rooms changed after constant complaints with the hotel management and with our tour operator/travel agent. Upon arrival we had been given a dirty room with dust everywhere, with broken, loose power plugs parried. A mildly negative impact. Changed the room in the evening with another (they say better) cleaning conditions haven't changed. Last two nights we were assigned, after continuous ups and downs and expectations, a room on the top floor. Improved cleaning but deafening noise throughout the night because of the engines of the systems installed. And to think that this quote was from the hotel with the highest cost per night!
To forget. Absolutely to be avoided. How to avoid also the agencies that will sell you this hotel. 1 star and I was good.
Hotel with ideal location between Times Square and Cental Park. The rooms are just the right size to be comfortable. The beds and pillows very comfortable both for relaxing after a day of work or sightseeing. The worst thing is the extra price to get that, while yes you indicate in your pricing, don't put it in the base so that the comparison with the other hotels changes.
WOW! What a truly amazing hotel, from the wonderful ambassadors and fun and modern feel throughout, to the changing light up walls in the rooms, and tablet controlled settings… and don't even get me started on the magnificent view from the rooftop bar! This hotel is in the PERFECT location if you're planning a visit to the Gershwin Theatre, literally… It is right across the street. Our hotel room was squeaky clean, and quite possibly the most fascinating hotel room I've ever stayed in. The view was out of this world, and from the second we checked in, there was nothing but smiles. They even offer a baggage hold service for people who are checked out, but still have things to do in the city and don't want to lug there suitcases around with them. When we came back to pick-up our suitcases, we asked if it was possible for us to go to the rooftop bar and take pictures, but unfortunately the bar wasn't scheduled to open till 4:00pm… that was no problem though! Justin, a very friendly hotel ambassador didn't hesitate a bit to escort us up there, and even offered his wonderful photography skills, and a free rooftop drink! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I can't wait to plan my next visit to CitizenM, it is quite the experience:)
Great hotel! Highly recommended. It has a very modern atmosphere and every detail has been thought out. I have nothing but great things to say!
Great hotel with a wonderful staff Maxine at the front desk was very helpful. John and Dolly in Breakfast area were awesome too. The room was nice not renovated yet but was still great. The restroom needed a lil work but nothing to complain about. We had the perfect view of Times Square from our room on the 15th floor. We were a couple minutes walk from everything. Staying at this hotel made our Vacation great because even when we used Uber or a Taxi almost everything was $10 away except for One World Trade Center that was $20 and the only reason we used a driver was because our feet hurt. Hope you all enjoy your stay here like my family and I did. 12/27 — 12/31/15. Thank you Manhattan hotel staff.
This hotel is perfect if you need a clean place to crash in the heart of midtown. I have no complaints. The king size bedroom was big enough only for the bed, but the bathroom was much larger than expected (which is still small, but not a closet). It's located right next to a big subway station to take you pretty much anywhere. The rates were extremely reasonable. If I wanted to stay in Midtown again, I would comeback to this hotel every time.
I liked the location. Walking distance to Times Square, Rockefeller Center and other attractions. Hotel staff was really friendly and courteous. Bedrooms and restrooms were small and really out dated. Although one problem I had was the lack of power outlets in the room. They just had 4 outlets out of which 2 were used up by the fridge and the air conditioner. So that just left 2 outlets. Overall a good experience. Well worth the price.
The Location is great, and I mean absolutely perfect! But the room I stayed in at this hotel is not so perfect. If you book here be aware that you are paying for the Location and not a beautiful or even nice room. Clean for the most part but totally outdated and very very worn. Apparently they are slowly upgrading the rooms. The one I stayed in was supposed to be a Deluxe room but felt and looked like a Motel 6.
The coolest rooms for the best price. The hotel room was excellent and the hotel in itself was very cool. Unique. CitizenM's staff was very fun and super accommodating. Will definitely stay here every time I catch myself in NYC.
The location is mostly what you pay for. Close to times square, it's an easy walk to shows and shopping. Our room was bad. Noisy and had multiple issues with plumbing. We had our room changed and it was much better. Helpful and friendly staff but the accommodations are not as good add the location.
Besides the location, this hotel was terrible… My wife and I traveled to New York last weekend to celebrate her birthday with a show and a nice dinner. When we arrived we took our bags up to our room and it was extremely hot, so I turned down the temp to 65 in the room and we went out for a few hours to see the sites. After having a great evening in the city we came back to a room that was 90 degrees. When I called the front desk I was told that the a/c is shut off till spring, Then why wasn't I told that when I checked in, The lady at the front desk then told me to open my window to cool the room down. My wife is 7 months pregnant and we had to sleep with the windows open and the new york city traffic honking in the background and still hot as hell. Besides the hot room the bed was terrible and the room was not clean. I took a shower in the morning and the towels were paper thin and very small. It is highway robbery what this hotel is charging for what you get, I will never stay there or recommend to anyone, Extremely disappointed, do yourself a favor and find another hotel.
Enjoy this gem in the heart of everything! My daughter & I had a wonderful stay at The Manhattan At Times Square for US Thanksgiving & we had a fantastic time while in NYC! They say location, location, location & this hotel has it! You are in the heart of everything! Steps from Broadway, Central Park, MoMA, Rockefeller Centre, Radio City Music Hall, Times Square & many restaurants! And only 2 blocks to 5th Ave & a short 20 min walk to the Empire State Building etc! I had read some of the reviews & was concerned, so emailed the Manager ahead & decided to pay the upgrade (which was still a deal compared to other hotels) & was not disappointed! Our 20th floor room was perfect in every way! Completely renovated, smelled great, modern, clean & in excellent working order! We very much appreciated the Manager's personal touch upon our arrival & throughout our stay & were extremely pleased to enjoy an impeccably clean room with the high end qualities, most comfortable "pillow top" bedding & ultra modern bathroom! The little extra's with the 'swan towels' & modern fixtures did not go unnoticed! Room & floor was quiet, no city noise & came with new mini fridge, coffee maker, blow dryer, clock radio, wireless internet & personal safe. There was no microwave but we didn't need one! Everything in our room & in the hotel was in perfect working order (hot water, TV, elevators etc) & the hotel staff were always pleasant, helpful & attentive!
I just reserved a room for January 13 thru the 16th. This review is being made to ensure that my stay at the Manhattan will be a pleasant one. I will be travelling with my wife and two (2) year old son. Health and sanitation is our number 1 concern when it comes to hotels, If the Manhattan cannot provide my family with a room that is clean, bug free, rust free, dust free, etc. Please let me know. Some of the Manhattan's reviews rise to the level of actionable consumer-protection civil suits. Again, the health and safety of my family is my number one priority. I hope the Manhattan delivers! =)
4 stars is a reflection of the hotel relative to the price. Yes the rooms are small and there is no free breakfast or free Wi-Fi but it was $220 per night during thanks giving. 3min walk and you are in times square. Next to subway station that goes to ferry for the statue of liberty. Close to theater and comady clubs. Restaurants are pricy and not that great around here but there are some cheap options.
The only redeeming value of this hotel is its location. Other than that it was pretty disappointing. There were a number of fit and finish issues. The hallways were marked up with scuffs and stains and the furniture in the room was banged up. The beds were terrible. They felt more like box springs. Attention to detail and presentation would have made a huge difference. The rooms were normal New York City sized nothing problemayic there. We stayed there because it was really all that was available for the Macy's parade that had two doubles. Finally the high floor upgrade is a rip off. It was only $18 but all it go was a view of the hotel across the street.
We initially were allocated an 'accessible' room due to limited availability on our late night arrival. The room was huge, but in desperate need of a refresh, with the bathroom being particularly worn. Even the light switches were filthy. We complained at the front desk as we'd booked the hotel based on the suggestion it was recently refurbished — but it turned out this was only the rooms on the top 2 or 3 floors (we visited in Jan 2015). Luckily one of these rooms was available and we were switched. This was like a different hotel, the room was clean, fresh and was a pleasure to be in. If you're booking try and get one of the upper floors to have a pleasant stay. My rating is based on the customer service we received for the quick room change and the refurbished room.
Hotel clean and staff very friendly. Think that in NY you go to sleep at the hotel you do not need rooms glamorous the enormous bed and supercomoda. Besides, we play the room from which the shot part and the inteonde CSI NY! hahaha.
Stayed for 7 nights. Location fantastic, staff extremely helpful. Beds very comfortable. Had seen some reviews which caused some concern, but no negative experiences. Would definitely stay there again & recommend to friends. Thanks for a wonderful holiday.
Great hotel. Nice central location (just off times square) and friendly staff. Blinds in my room were broken when we got there however we informed the staff and it was fixed within an hour, great service. Rooms are modern and we'll kept with comfy furniture and good bathroom. Overall if your looking for a good modern hotel in the centre of New York, look no further than citizenM.
If any of you guys are looking for dirt cheap hotel deals I would check out HotelRaven. Com I saved a ton of money using that site. Absolutely perfect location! What makes it even better is that you are able to shower in not only water that takes minutes to heat up, but also the plaster from the ceiling! Highly recommend for the one and only, Anthony Melchiorri from Hotel Impossible. But wait! Don't forget the acclaimed FREE breakfast that you have to pay for. And the reservation you're thinking of putting down? Forget about it! The hotel runs on first come, first serve no matter your reservation. It's honestly so convenient! I love it because for some hilarious reason, our reservation for August 18th was mistakingly put in as November 11th so there we were on the other side of the country with supposedly no reservation for that night. But the location is cool :)
We were met at curbside by the bellman Al and greeted at the front desk by Guillermo. Both gentlemen were extremely friendly and welcoming, made us feel right at home. After briefly mentioning our daughters bday at check in, Guillermo brought up two small bags of small bday goodies for both kids. Over the three day stay the cleaning lady and front desk staff went out of their way to be attentive to our every need. Very impressed, definitely staying here again soon!
The rooms smell like mold and the bathrooms are falling apart, broken tiles, clogged sink, toilet caulking, tub… More like a cheap motel. Let's not forget the bed bugs. Contacted guess services about the room conditions and they made it seemed as if it was normal. They said we can sent someone to caulk around the toilet and drain the tub. Putting a band aid on the problems doesn't fix it. Oh I forgot, the ice maker on the 20th floor doesn't work. I have stayed at other hotels within a block or two and a far better quality. The only good thing was the service at the front desk.
The Hotel is really very centrally located and is perfect for all. But the rooms are old and old. Only the beds are comfortable. Otherwise, it is also, unfortunately, the cleanliness is not really a big priority. Schimmelige stains in the bathroom, Dirty window is not cleaned. The furniture bonding part, and you have to first wipe everything. Also, everything is very noisy. Wi-Fi is very slow. But the most daring from the Hotel is the one at the Ckeckout again with 20 dollars per day to pay. That is something you unfortunately at the Check-in is not pointed out, and also the travel Agency did not do this (unless you überhaupten knew) Facility Fee is the there called! Generally the Hotel for a longer stay not recommended! The hotel is really very central and is perfect to reach everything. But the rooms are old and worn. Only the beds have been comfortable. Otherwise, the cleanliness is unfortunately not written really big. Damp spots in the bathroom, dirty windows that are not cleaned. Furniture stick partially and you have to first wipe everything. So everything is very loud. Wireless internet is very slow. Generally the hotel for a longer stay is not recommended! When you Ckecout you have to pay a hidden fee fom 20$ per day!
This hotel is (as you have, no doubt, gathered) in a very convenient location. I believe that the reason for the poor quality of it is that tourists are thought to be out and about so often, they would not realize how rubbish the hotel is. The walls are crumbling and everything seriously needs an update. I strongly suspect that the two — bedroomed room we were given was originally intended to have only one. As a result, the room is extremely cramped. Upon arriving, we found the room was extremely dusty and had not been cleaned. The walls and doors are very hollow and you can hear neighbouring guests as well as the sound of the lift. Outside of the rooms, the hall is very depressing and has the same air of shabbiness. Often, the water and ice dispenser does not work. Very disappointed, especially since it looks very sophisticated on the outside. Do not stay here.
I stayed at the Manhattan a month ago and was bitten by BED BUGS! When we woke up in the morning it was crawling on my pillow. We got a refund and had to find another hotel which was a headache because we were only in NYC for the weekend. DO NOT STAY AT THE MANHATTAN hotel in NYC! The worst part other than the bed bug bites was the fact that management and staff didn't appear too surprised! I am itching just thinking about it, YUK. The room was also visibly dusty… how do they stay in business?
Although the rooms are small for a couple, this hotel has a beautiful lobby and a roof top with a great view. The staff is very helpful and pleasant. The location is perfect near Time Square and close to Broadway.
Lets start with the fact that the pictures ARE nothing like the actual room. The queen room is tiny and clustered my bedroom at home is bigger than it. I did complain, moved me to a double bed room because that was the only room available. Still wasn't happy, I looked for other hotels to stay at, no luck it was way to last minute to find a place near times square to stay. So I had to spend the night here — grossed out 200% The lobby smelled weird like dirty water mixed with bleach. As soon as my fiancé and I walked into the room our faces dropped we was totally grossed out and shocked over how different the room looked! Every time someone below / above us used to bathroom we heard he pipes and water run. In the middle of the night the towel holder fell of the wall and scared the crap out of me. The room was dusty also smelled a little weird. Everything seemed very old and bathroom needed to be redone tiles were broken ever the stand the TV was on was worn out and old. Terrible lighting. Even the roof top picture is nothing like the actual roof! When I checked out early and complained the guy next to me over heard me & on our way out he told me he felt the same exact way! I do appreciate the refund of my second night. But hotel needs serious work done!
One of the coolest hotel experiences I have had. The staff are incredibly friendly and made us feel like we were actually friends with them. They gave great recommendations to some of their personal favorite spots around the city. The rooms were great and not once did we feel too crammed in even though the size was fairly small. The decor of the rooms and the hotel as a whole were great from anyone looking for something new and not just your basic hotel design. The rooftop bar was an awesome place to start off the night and watch the sunset. Overall just a great, great stay for an anniversary trip and first time visit to NYC.
Excellent room, small but cleverly utilizes it's limited space with a minimalist approach. Bed is huge and comfortable, shower and bathroom is amazing. Everything is controlled via tablet in the room from the air conditioning to the lights and blinds. TV had plenty of channels to watch. Free Wi-Fi. Affordable pricing. By far the easiest and fastest check in I've ever had at a hotel. Literally had my room key and was on my way in 30 seconds. The location is absolutely perfect as well and the rooftop bar is fantastic. Why spend more at a tired hotel with 1920's decor where they'll nickel and dime you to death when you could stay here? Pretty much a no brainer to stay here. Will be coming back to this hotel in the future.
The only good thing about this hotel is the location, other than that its awful. Where do I begin. The hotel walls are as thick as straws so late at night you can hear all the drunk Europeans laughing and jumping around loudly all night. Secondly someone 2 doors down from us ordered new towels, so they employee who brought it up had his speaker on so loud you can hear conversations going on in my hotel room at 12:00am! Then the T. V. We got had a little green line in the middle of it, which is obviously damages done by other people who were in it previously, but wasn't fixed. The Wifi is a joke, you have to sign in and if you dont use the internet for 15 minutes, it takes you off and you have to sign in ALL OVER again. This hotel is a joke, and a waste of money. Find another place, or better yet sleep in you're car.
The perfect no-frills comfortable New York Manhattan hotel. 24hr desk. Wifi included (3-5Mb speed so better than most) in the deal. Free ice and water. Spotlessly clean. Good bathroom: power shower and bath. Room safe a boon for leaving laptops and valuables. This alone a decider for me. Ok the corridors are drab and the decor is dated but everything works and all the staff I met are friendly. Position: slap bang in the middle of everything. Times Square. Fifth Ave shops. Radio City. Rockafeller Tower. Penn Station easy to get to (I walked — 15 min) or subway line 1.
This hotel is cheaper than some others in the area, and the location is ideal — it's right at Times Square. However, that's about where the good things end. You walk in, and it does look somewhat modern, but just… kind of empty and lacking. Whatever, at least it seems clean. I checked in, and the process just involved me giving them my credit card and license and then me receiving it back with my room keys — no explanation about amenities or Wi-Fi or anything like that that you would normally hear when checking into a hotel. No clues about the checkout time either — I had to look that up online. As soon as you get off the elevator onto your floor (well, at least I can speak for the 8th floor), you quickly realize why it's not $300/night. It's pretty rundown — carpets and walls are stained, and as others have said, look like they haven't been replaced since the 60s or 70s. The room itself is just okay — I booked the Run of House type room through Expedia, and was terribly disappointed. It's only a full size bed in a TINY room (with a TINY bathroom), and through Expedia is was MORE than the cost of the Standard room (with a kind bed! ) through the hotel's website (which would have also included a free to-go breakfast! ). Also, maybe I was just eager to relax in a pool, but I was disappointed to hear that the hotel did not have a swimming pool. Maybe this is the case in NYC due to space or something, but I've never been to a hotel that didn't have a swimming pool.
Avoid this place. Filthy and disgusting looking, but if you can stomach the decor that hasn't been updated since 1936, here's what's up. The "Do Not Disturb" sign doesn't register with their maids. They walked in while we were out and about when we clearly had the sign on the door. Oh, let's not forget the vending machines on each floor that eat your dollars like a bear prepping for hibernation. They don't accept coins and you hear your change drop… Except you don't receive your change. It goes into some other dimension where your quarters mingle with every one else's lost quarters over the years. Oh, how about that they don't even tell you about $20 dollar hidden room fees and let the bill run up without telling you. They disguised as "facility fees" (with tax) and won't even tell you what you're being charged for. I've stayed at a lot of hotels in New York over the years, none quite as bad as this. New York is expensive, but you can get a better hotel in the area for much less. Book somewhere else, this place blows.
Decor was shabby and needs a good update. But room was clean and staff polite. View down to times square was perfect from the 22nd floor. The room was a great base camp for sleeping when not exploring. Location could not be better.
Disgusting, the hotel was probably last updated in 1975, filthy carpet, mold in the bathroom and wall papers like my grandma house. The AC unit is so old that makes banging noises, everything screams "run away"! $900 for 4 nights is a rip off, This "hotel" is more a cheap 1 start motel!
Excellent location, rooms according to what that means a trip to NY! Close to the subway and everything.
The Manhattan at Times square made my visit to New York very pleasurable! This hotel is located in a great place. It is in walking distance to shopping, dinning, and entertainment. The building is outdated and in middle of renovation, however the rooms are clean and comfortable. The customer service is a five star! I would like to give special thanks to the following staff members for being extremely accommodating… Maxine Elliot and Dorothy who work the front desk, Keith H. A manger who helped with reservation, Edgar/Gerson who kept me cool with my A. C. Unit, and Yvette for making sure my room was clean. I would recommend this hotel if you want to experience times square and enjoy the wonderful hospitality! I would definitely stay again. Thank you!
Windows disgusting and TV had a sound shortage! Bathroom horrible. Not told about breakfast or 1 day advance on airport shuttle! No food/drinks amenity in this pricey hotel. Filthy carpet! Wasted money indeed. Maybe 20th floor & up are better rooms… such a ripoff!
A hotel with a very good location, clean, the staff is of good assistance from front desk to the cleaning people. Everything is close to everything, we were going to walk all over, we were with my daughter in the 8th to the 18th of may and we had a spectacular. The price is reasonable if you consider that sales of the hotel and these 6 blocks from Central Park, 2 of 5 Avda etc…
I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in late April/2015 and it seemed to me very good. The location is fantastic, your price is reasonable, his staff offer a good deal and are bilingual, many of them, both my room as the locations of this hotel that I saw were clean, the lifts are good, there are 4. The only thing I did not like was that the glass of the windows of the room were so dirty on the outside that can not take pictures through the glass. I recommend this hotel for a cost not as high it goes well and you can go walking around Midtown Manhattan.
Our Stay April 2015 The hotel is an easy walk to Times Square, Rockefeller centre and other attractions are easily accessible by the subway which is close to the hotel. The rooms are small but comfortable. The bed is massive however is only accessible from one side which means one person (me) had to climb over. This was ok for us but might be harder for older people. Everything is controlled with an iPad which was cool but my most favourite thing in the room was definitely the shower. It wasn't huge but had awesome water pressure and a rainfall shower head. We had a great stay and would stay there again if we visited New York.
Great hotel, excellent location: everything is close, including the subway. Great service and tiny rooms) ).
Excellent location. I think at this price closer to times Square to be found. To be quite honest 3 stars. The hotel is certainly not really new, but quite clean for Those who need more of a show off I recommend to stay at the Sheraton on the block and 2 times more expensive.
Zero stars. Nasty room. Smells gross. Dirty walls and bath floor. Poor service.
The location is perfect! Furthermore had great experience with the staff. The room itself it serves if you will not stay there for most part of your trip, it is not fancy nor spacious but its all fine.
The worst stay in New york. Very un-professional staff, rude and un-knowledgeable. dirty rooms and very old furnitures. No courtesy to any gusts. I would highly vote to change management of this hotel. If you want BAD service and red eyes and itchy skin. Stay there.
This is our third time staying at the CitizenM in Times Square. Staying at this hotel is like staying with family you really like. You know the kind of visit we're talking about. No pressure, renewing good friendships, when family goes that extra mile to make sure you are having a good time. Everyone at CitizenM in Times Square makes it their business to see that you have no worries. Staff that met us on our other visits remembers our names, remembers why we come to visit New York. Everyone seems genuinely interested in what we are doing, what shows we are going to see, the shopping we are doing. The hotel's design is trendy and timeless at the same time. We love the modern decor. The rooms are very comfortable, The breakfasts are awesome and worth the reasonable price that we pay. Special shout outs to Amando, Serena, Monou (I hope I spelled your name correctly), and Jason and all the other ambassadors who make out stay so pleasant. We look forward to our next visit to New York City and our stay at the CitizenM in Times Square.
This hotel is tiny bit satisfactory. Positive — the location is a huge plus, being very close to stores and restaurants, the staff was very kind and helpful, shower had good strong pressure, elevators were quick n clean, heat/AC is easy controlled Negative — bed has yellow n stained pillows under the case, shower curtain is stained and dirty at top, windows are dirty n can barely see through them, paint is chipped or coming off wall near inside window area, bathroom smells n have sprayed perfume several times to mask it, WALLS ARE NOT INSULATED so u can hear from people talking to doors slamming to someone whistling at 3am, very few wall outlets to charge a phone or plug in a laptop, paint or style of rooms are old fashion, closets r small, mirrors had scratches or permanent streaks.
Great location, stylish Hotel. The open Zimmersituation, but is not suitable for everyone. Technically highly modern.
The revolution in the world of tourism and travel.
The workers were nice. Keep in mind there is a $20 hidden fee for each room that you have to pay. They should have just added that into the room price instead. You pay a 50 dollar deposit and only get $30 back. The Windows in my room were very dirty and gross. The heater thing had a metal side that kept falling off which was very annoying. No breakfast. Other than that, decent hotel but I would not stay here again.
Checked in at 2:00, 2 hours before the actual check in time. No wait. Great staff. Upgraded us to a very nice king deluxe suite on the 22nd floor. Very clean (and I'm a picky person). Quiet. Late noon checkout which was fantastic and included grab and go breakfast which was great! I would definitely stay her again. Close to everything! Thank you.
Easily one of the most friendly and modern hotels in NY. The staff here are like your best friends while you stay with them, telling you places to go, making delicious drinks. The shower and toilet are in these glowing multi-coloured glass cabins in the rooms which makes them a little bit open if you're sharing (as you can't lock the door). It has a excellent roof bar. Being only a year or so old, the hotel itself is modern, clean, fresh and very well designed. The beds are super comfortable, with powerful AC (that you can turn off) so slept really deeply. No noise apart from the usual NY sirens every now and then going past. Really central location. Can't recommend enough. I've stayed in a bunch of their hotels across Europe so a big fan.
Loved it! Adequate! Friendly staff. Great location and a nice bar on 21st floor.
Be careful when you book this hotel. Surely the location is very nice and the booking fee seems low. But they will charge you EXTRA "FACILITY FEE" $20 and it is unavoidable. And I was arranged to a room with a broken TV. They changed it just now with a brand new one, hopefully I won't be charged for that. Just don't go to this hotel, too many traps here.
Stayed there during xmas pretty cramped rooms rude bag boys crappy cold breakfast sucky water pressure in the shower and to top it off bed bug spotting on the on one side of the bed close to the door and management refused to offer discount never again. Jesus a motel 6 is way better and alot cheaper.
The best and most cool hotel in Manhattan you can stay in. Staff is awesome and very kind. 100% recommended.
This was a bait and switch! I found this hotel on Orbitz and decided to try it because of the $139 breakfast included rate. The pictures looked very nice. In actuality the hotel was very shabby. I was willing to overlook that because the top was clean. However I found out that the breakfast was only for 1 person and there were 3 of us on the reservation. Also when I checked out there was a $20 'facility fee' and a tax on that facility fee! So in essence this was actually a $159 rate! I could have stayed at the beautiful Sheraton across the street for $165! Never again will I stay at this hotel.
We will travel in February and I want to know the distances from the hotel to the main places that you must visit in new york, thank you.
Four season level service but not the price. Ok so each staff member didnt know our names but they were always smiling and available to help and assist. Rooms are small — thats NYC. Rooms are clean neat and functional. Fun and funky lobby. 4 nights. Centrally located near times square. Will definitely go back.
This hotel is disorganized and crowded. They failed to put our credit card on file at check-in, so the next day they locked us out until I put a card on file. But there was no note, email, or phone call explaining this, so I just had to figure it out. 40 minutes later security let me into my room, and I ate my now cold take out food. The elevators can take forever due to crowds and renovations. Check out took a half hour because there was one clerk for a long line of people. The manager said he was not allowed to help check out because this is a "union shop. " the room condition (renovated) was pretty good, but the bed was unsupportive. The cleaning staff was nice and helpful.
Very good location, service and small rooms, like most in NY, but very well equipped and clean.
After 17 hrs of being awake and traveling we were greeted by big beautiful smile at the reception and were checked in 10 min time:) room is clean quite on the 20 floor beautiful views and neer waited more then a minute for the lift. Only thing you can hear doors closing from the other rooms. Location is the best, you are close to everything. And to use this oportunity to say BIG THANK YOU to Leon — guest manager who left hand written card and small present for my gilfriend whose birthday was on 25 th december.
My experience was very good. The hotel is clean and comfortable. Close all. We were able to walk to many places of interest. Only steps we enjoyed the stop of Macys. We play with views of the main avenue. Priced to be the week of Thanksgiving and the perfect location of the hotel. I highly recommend it.
We were very happy with our stay here. The staff was friendly and the lobby was nice. Most importantly is that it is right by Times Square. Granted, it is older and not as nice as some hotels, but for the price we paid it was well worth it. If you don't mind your room being small or not being fancy, you will be fine.
Worst hotel EVER. Dont bother even wasting your money. The employees are great but the hotel is complete crap. My father could spread his arms out and almost reach wall to wall. Had to pay $30 to use to fridge. The bathroom is disgusting, the floor isn't even connected in certain parts and our ac sucks. Take your money elsewhere.
I was very upset with my stay at the Manhattan Hotel this past weekend. After arriving late at night, I was greeted to a room that looked like something found in a Motel 6. There were stains on the carpet, scratches on the wall, and a bathroom with a toilet that looked like it belonged in the middle of a correctional facility. The next morning, I turned the shower on to find mold all over the shower liner. I ran down to speak with a manager and he apologized and told me he would relocate us to a better room. He did. The new room was great. But why was I not put in that room before? It did not make any sense. Also the biggest turn off was the number of people that hotel was accommodating. It was INSANE! I had to wait over 15 mins to get into an elevator and the lobby was just jammed pack with tourist and luggage. It was a complete mess. The staff even commented that it was out of control. I was very disappointed with my stay at The Manhattan and would never recommend it to anyone. The place is under staffed and overcrowded.
We were a great week at the hotel, at the beginning of September, a good room on the 19th floor. We then travel to the Niagara and Washington, returned and assigned us a lower category and cigarette-friendly room. Very kindly reception attended our request and we changed to another room on the 18th floor. Regresaríamos, along with my husband, because the hotel is well located, good Wifi service, comfortable, hygienic and good services. And in addition have something very special: the disposition and the warmth of the staff to make you feel at home and make your holidays the most happy.
Wonderful. Quite simply. Pleasant lounge area and little cozy bar on the rooftop. Room is small but modern, well furnished and the choice of moods to suit (little tablet to control lighting and digital art frame). Free internet, TV. What hotels should all aim to be. No pretension but no overcharging for basic services plus comfortable settings.
So much fun! Felt like we woke up in a space ship. Great decor, clean. Friendly staff. Everything worked and was well integrated.
If you looking Luxurious Hotel on a Budget with Amazing Location, this hotel is gonna be your option. When you check in you will have different experience than regular Hotel but in the good and fastest way. They will give you free 2-drinks for checking in (welcome drink). the room rate will be cheaper if you become a member by 15% (more less). And the best part is the room rates is including for all movie and free Wi-Fi. parking will be a problem and expensive because you will be in time square area but sunday street parking is free. they have this AM/PM bath shampoo and shower gel that is smell amazing that you can purchase it at frontdesk. overall this hotel is very modern, futuristic, cheap, clean, XL bed, small size room but very efficient. Def going back for stay.
Perfectly positioned in the area of Times Square and with several metro stops also nearby. Rooms well, counting that is this most of the day off to enjoy the city. Staff well, let us go out an hour after the checkout without a snag.
Very clean, small hotelroom with a good bed and no noise from outdoor what is exceptional because your one block away from times square. Perfect location! Friendly staff.
My husband chose this hotel because they advertised in room pay per view movies. There were none. There was a huge wet spot on the carpet that was just creepy. The wallpaper was peeling. The tub had a trough down the middle so you had to stand astride it or risk falling. The drain in the tub was slow. This was room obviously we were being punished for some unknown reason, and were given this room. When checking out the manager when regaled with all our complaints offered a complimentary breakfast on our "next stay". Needless to say there will be no next stay at the Amsterdam Court.
Great hotel. Apart from the obvious 'location, location, location' advantage, the hotel was clean, modern and welcoming. Android tablet available in your room, as well as free Wi fi. We didn't eat or drink there, so no idea about that. You can not pay for your accommodation with cash. Nice library of books which are for sale, too. Many subway stations nearby, including one for the A line for JFK. Free left luggage. Young, cheerful staff. About the location: short walk to Central Park, theatres and attractions. The noise from the street didn't make it through the double glazed windows. Small room was cleverly packaged, so no problem accommodating people with luggage. Free safe in the room. Nice toiletries. I would happily recommend this hotel to a friend. I would have no hesitation in staying at this hotel again.
Most good reviews are probably the employees themselves. Most bad ones would be from disgruntled customers who were treated shabbily. They unfairly kept over $300 of my hardearned money and the manager refused to return calls. Use Amex, don't pre-pay, better still find something nicer by spending a little more time searching. Avoid this dump, its short term money focussed staff and management. We had three nights booking. AC did not work on the first night, it was a hot summer night. We had to check out the next morning due to the unlivable conditions. Worst still the hotel did not reimburse the money for the remaining unused 2 nights. Horrible manager, rude, uncaring and very very unprofessional when it came to repeated phone calls for getting credit. For the price they charge you, please please look for and you will find a nicer property. They will steal your hard earned money.
Very decent, clean room, hot water for shower provided all the time, good location, downstairs is time square! U can not find a place like this with that price, great front desk people! Vary helpful and kind! There is a parking lot that corporate with this hotel, so u need told to the front desk that u need to park, they will give u a discount like $25/day.
Good location, expected price quality, small rooms.

RespondHorrible: Very noisy, dirty, tiny rooms… etc.

RespondThe best staff. The rooms meet its mission. It has a terrace at the last plant to visit. Charge the breakfast and the internet 10 dollars per day every thing. Helpful if you are going to sleep and visit the. City. The location is unbeatable have all nearby.

RespondOnly this good situation, near Times Square and Rockefeller Center. Otherwise nice old and rickety, ridiculous rooms with bathroom testimonial, very uncomfortable, taking into account the price you pay. We went with our children at Easter 2011 and for 2 days and half didn't have hot water, windows not working (gave to a courtyard of the most crappy) for an invoice without breakfast from $ 220 per room per night, excluding the tax. RespondGreat location in the heart of NY, but…
Small room, only one bedside table, little light, no light at all at the level of a small desk, no fridge, no air conditioning, hot or icy shower. Not great at all.
Does the situation outweigh the comfort? Not on.
Maybe I fell wrong?

Tyler and all of the staff at your DC hotel were superb. She really went above and beyond her ordinary duties!
