We had an amazing stay here for 5 nights. We were able to walk everywhere easily. The rooms were very clean, large and comfortable.

Amazing staff and wonderful hospitality in a beautiful, classic property in NYC. Over the years I have stayed in many hotels in the city, and this has beyond a doubt been my experience. Staying here has been like stepping back in time, when hotels were gracious and caring and personally invested in the enjoyment of your stay. Henry and Theodoro immediately became acquainted with us and our hopes for our trip to the city. They both took extra effort in assuring that we were always cared for and enjoying our days/nights. Top notch cleanliness and service throughout the hotel, and always happy, happy staff! Thanks to the entire staff for taking such good care of us! This is our new “home” when in NYC!

I was nervous about finding a room in NYC being a first time visitor! I am so glad I chose this hotel. We got a complimentary upgrade upon arrival and everyone was so accommodating and friendly. No issues at all! Quiet, comfortable, affordable room and close to everything you want to see!

I researched many hotels in NY before booking my 4 day stay here. I know New York is expensive and I wanted a nice hotel so I budgeted $1600 for 4 nights of hotel accommodation. About $400 a night. I booked an executive suite via hotels. Com at the Michaelangelo. The pictures were amazing and with the room charge and additional $48 daily fee it came out right at my $1600 budget. After a 6 hour plane ride I arrived at the hotel and waited in line for about 15 minutes and was given my "executive" room". Upon opening the door to the room I was very sad to find an old, unclean, very small room with worn out, extremely old furniture. I am a gold hotels. Com member and this is a VIP hotels. Com hotel. That means they are supposed to try upgrade me. I researched and discovered that they actually downgraded my room without telling me, while still charging the executive room rate! I called down and they confirmed that they did indeed downgrade me and forgot to tell me, or adjust the rate accordingly. They said they would upgrade me to my executive room tomorrow. I must deal with it for tonight. Ummm. It's not an upgrade when you give me less than what I paid for without telling me and after I complain say that the next day will give me what I actually paid for. And I am still waiting for them to actually give me what I paid for. Although they can never give my back the time they have ruined on my vacation so far having to deal with this and spend in this horrible room.

Good hotel, friendly staff, quiet rooms, quality accommodation would highly recommend. We were not told about the additional taxes by our travel agent, but not the hotels fault. Very central location.

Just returned from a stay here. I must complement the entire staff. On checkout, while waiting for my car I valet parked, I was in formed I had a flat tire. Not many gas stations that do tire repairs near Times Square! The concierge and valet staff helped me get my donut spare put on and directed me to a garage about 15 blocks away where they fixed the puncture. When I made it home I realized I left a pair of jeans in the closet. I called and they had them. The volunteered to send them to me at no charge! Service above and beyond! I will definitely return! Booked The Michelangelo a little over a month ago for my girlfriend and I for a couple of days later on this month. I've been reading through the reviews. I used to live in NY when I was younger and am excited to go back as a tourist! Rated five stars for the expectation through the reviews and will update after our stay! Can't wait! Update: I am late on updating this review, but thankfully The Michelangelo lived up to my expectations! It was a very comfy stay. Our executive room was clean and elegant. The food was a little pricey but there was a Halal food cart right across the street from the hotel where we sometimes grabbed an amazing gyro for $3. There is also a 24 hour store, Cafe Duke, up the street which was perfect during late hours. The only downside I found was that in order to shut off some of the lights, we had to unplug them. However, there were a couple of things I really appreciated from this hotel. One was the location. It's perfectly around the corner from Timesquare! I felt safe to go outside at night. Also, the entrance is well lit with a doorman around — which is more than what other hotels in the area seem to offer, but the entrance also has a heater on the outdoor ceiling that lets off a good amount of heat when you're walking under it.

Accommodations were fine and beds were comfortable, location is great. We were able to walk to many attractions. My only issue was that they had no parking space available for our full size van. I had to pay an additional $60 a day for parking several blocks away. Loading and unloading was a nightmare because there is not any place to pull off the road. Price was good compared to other hotels in the area.

Charming hotel, lovely rooms. They just need to provide coffee in the rooms or a way to get coffee or hot tea before 7am without needing to pay $12 to $18 through room service. Other than that, great location and charming property.

Great hotel in the theater district. Excellent service. Large rooms. Comfortable beds. Large bathroom and walk-in closet. I would definitely stay here again.

Loved the Michelangelo in NYC! Location is great. (couple blocks from theatres, Times Square, etc) but far enough away from everything for when you need some downtime. The thing I enjoyed the most was the customer service. FANTASTIC (Concierge/doormen). I would highly recommend this hotel. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Nice sized regular rooms, quiet and attractive. Great location for theater. But best of all is the lovely lobby bar with the people watching for those walking by on 7th Avenue.

If I could give this place zero stars I would… This is an absolute fraud. No where in my check in paperwork did they mention anything about an astronomical resort fee (on top of an already way overpriced room rate). And there is nothing about this hotel that justifies such a high price. With all of the other nice hotels to choose from in New York City this would be the last one I would select. Please if you have any other option choose another hotel. Unless you are just completely tired of all of the extra money in your pocket.

We have been constant visitors to this hotel for a couple of years now and this time we have happened the unthinkable: We were notified at midnight that the extra bed for our son we had asked a month ago when we made the reservation, was not available and that We had to sleep all three in the double bed, they felt it a lot but there was no bed available!

Beautiful room, great service. Given a free upgrade just for checking in. Accessible to theaters and great food. Perfect weekend getaway! I know a hot shower at 930am on a Sunday might be a lot to expect, since everyone on the hotel is probably showering at the same time, but the shower was luke warm.

The most perfect place to stay for a Broadway vacation! Easy walking distance to 30 Rock, Times Square, most all theaters, good restaurants. Hotel was over the top with spacious rooms, excellent housekeeping service, room service and fabulous Henry, bellhop.

I stay here four or five times a year and am torn on how to rate it. The staff is attentive and friendly and many of them have been there for years. It is always nice to see a familiar face after a day of traveling. The restaurant offers a fairly limited menu but the dishes are generally well prepared. The best thing about the hotel is that once you are inside it is easy to forget that you are in the middle of New York City. The location is also great positioned in the theater district and near Central Park and 5th Avenue. My issue is that the hotel while not shabby by any stretch of the imagination, is getting a bit tired and could use a refresh.

Consistent taste. Great steak for a great affordable price. Hope this place can expand to more locations and never goes out of business.

The rooms are all very big. It's wonderful especially for New York City. The furnishings are dated, however. It's like your grandma's g house, furniture-wise. But it does not really matter with those big rooms!

Stayed here countless times. Perfect location from times square and Rockefeller center. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, perfect room and hotel in the Big Apple.

It is the best hotel in New York, the impeccable rooms and the best is the extraordinary customer service. It's our wedding anniversary and we were surprised with a bottle of delicious champagne. Thank you very much, we will always return!

Thas good place for drinks and dinner. They have nice place on the second floor… Nice People. Good service. Delicious food. Very comfortable place. You check out with you family and friends. And enjoy the Time.

Hotel has a nice location in midtown Manhattan and the staff is very friendly an courteous, that’s the good. Now for the bad: 1. The climate in the one bedroom king suite was very hard to control. We were uncomfortably hot all night. 2. The blackout curtains are not “blackout”, and if you were able to pull them closed, you would block the air-conditioning unit, creating another problem with the climate. 3. The bathtub in the suitewe were in desperately needs re-caulking. It’s actually disgusting, and looks terrible. Immediately makes me feel like the place is dirty. 4. I went downstairs to get a cuppa coffee to bring to our room, and we’re faced with a $5 per cup charge to the room. Not cool, I paid for a one bedroom suite, I expect my coffee to be free. Personally, with so many nice hotels in the area I won’t be returning to The Michelangelo.

I have stayed at several beautiful hotels in Manhattan and The Michelangelo has the nicest staff and possibly the most unique amenities of them all. Not only did the staff provide excellent customer service, but they were friendly, kind and genuine (even funny). One member of staff stood out to me, in particular. He was the bellman who has worked there for nearly 30 years. I can't remember his name, but he is a black man in his mid 50's or so (and pointed out that he has worked at the hotel for a few years longer than he has been married). He told us how much he loves his job on the elevator ride up upon checking in. He was just so friendly and helpful to my family during the entire trip… not just as he was helping us to our rooms upon our arrival as expected at a hotel of this caliber, but really went above and beyond in a truly genuine way. He remembered details about my family as we spoke at different times during the week and picked up on little things would require taking true interest in our group to notice. I appreciated that very much and believe he is an extra kind soul and a truly good person. Also, my room was very beautiful and SO comfortable. The linens were of the highest quality, the bathtub was HUGE, the bathroom had a heating lamp that ran for 30 minutes so the room would be very warm as you got in/out of your bath.

Super convenient to everything midtown Manhattan and Times Square. Subway stations close by. Cool hotel.

Service excellent. Felt welcome when arrived. Requests met. Gave 4/5 stars because beds were not the most comfortable. But, since we stayed 1 night, they sufficed.

It would have been 5 stars, because the location is absolutely perfect for a quick trip to New York. But we waited for 10 minutes in the restaurant at breakfast, while it was almost completely empty of guests and full of wait staff and no one came over for 10 minutes. We got up and left and the table next to us said it took them 15 minutes to get their coffee. That’s ridiculous. 4 servers, 4 tables of guests, they need to be way more on top of things. I loved the room, I loved the location. But that service yesterday morning really turned me off. Not sure if I would stay again.

I can always count on the service at the Michelangelo to be first rate. The hotel was crowded, and the bar especially. The wait was longer than I would have expected, so I'm only giving 4 stars for this experience.

(Editing because the hotel confirmed the insect I found crawling around under my mattress was a spider beetle rather than a bed bug — and one additional star for the follow up. Everything else stands. ) This place has (bed) bugs! And brown water coming out of the bath tub tap, and poor customer service and crusty stained 1990s-white carpet and generally weird decor — the latter items I could have dealt with while on a 48 hour work trip, but as soon as I found a bug crawling around under my mattress I was OUT (transferred to the Plaza at 12:30 AM — exponentially better room and at $50 less a night). I don’t know if I just got the crappiest room in the whole hotel, but even without the bug issue no clue how this place has a 4 star rating except that the lobby was shiny. Could say a lot more, but once you've found bugs crawling around under your mattress what's even the point. I've been trying to post pictures of the bug but photo upload doesn't seem to be working presently, will try to update with pics when I have better internet. Travelers think twice!

Loved our one night stay at the Michaeangelo and wish we could have stayed longer. Very friendly, accommodating staff, a great location, spacious rooms, marble bath with a large soaking tub and comfy bed and pillows. We will definitely return.

I have spent at this hotel for 6 nights and enjoy it very much. The room are excellent and very comfortable, big and warm. The team was great and the location is amazing. Nice bar at the lobby. Specifically like to thank Owen from the management team for his great help, I forgot my passport at the room and he came all the way to the airport with it, if not him I would probably missed my flight, very unusual service. Thank you.

Been to NYC several times and stayed at a few different hotels until we found this one. We will not stay at another place. This place is great! The staff are all 5 stars! They are attentive, helpful and professional. The spacious rooms are clean and decorated very nice. Comfortable beds, great amenities! The doormen Henry, Chris, Edwin and Cesar are all experts on NYC for things to do, places to eat etc! 5 stars 5 stars 5 stars!

The facility was very clean and well maintained. There was a discrepancy with our room and the fact that we were supposed to have a room with 2 beds and got one with a king bed and a rollaway instead. The rollaway ended up being pretty comfortable, and the 2 bathrooms available in the suite was a plus, so the issue was minor. Happy with the service and the location of this hotel.

I arrived at the hotel around midnight. I was greeted by a gentleman whom I guess was the bellman/security guard. He had to summon someone from the back to check me in. Check-in process took longer than expected but wasn't terrible. The room was clean and spacious. I wanted to order room service but this wasn't available. I would give the hotel itself a 4 out of 5 star rating. The rate experience as a whole a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Spacious rooms. Bar, full breakfast and mini gym with discount options for full service gym across the street. Room service available. Accommodating staff and places to sit I a mezzanine level and work or chat. Perfect location near the subways and walking distance to east and west side, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, 5th Avenue glitz and short walk to Macy's. Only downside is that since this building has been here long before the non smoking laws were in effect, you can still notice a stale smoke smell when you shower or close the bathroom door. And the outlet plugs are not updated so they have accumulated gunk that needs a good cleaning.

The overall standard of the hotel is good. We had a room for for adults and one infant. When we arrived in our room we found no crib. The staff provided a bed for the infant despite being told the child was under 1 year old. They replaced the bed with a crib a little later. We also incurred a substantial additional charge on our room rate when checking out do to taxes etc. Yet when we booked the room there was only mention of one additional charge of around $38. This was frustrating.

This is the best hotel! We haven't been to NYC in a couple of years, but we hope to go again in April to celebrate our 50th anniversary. The rooms are nice and large, and they're comfortable. We took my best friend to NY in October of 2015, and she was just overwhelmed with the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the room. It made it a very special visit for her. The entire staff is hospitable and friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff is just outstanding — the best I've ever seen! Everyone else — the front desk, the concierge, the bartender, the front door and bellman — — was just wonderful. The location is great too. Numerous places to eat, of course, but we can walk — even at our advanced age — to Broadway, Carnegie Hall, Rockefeller Plaza, and many other places. You might think, after I mentioned my husband's and my age, that this is a stodgy hotel best suited to senior citizens. No then could be further from the truth! Young people would enjoy it as much as we did. With everything there is to do within walking distance, even children would love it. I heartily and enthusiastically recommend this hotel to anyone visiting NYC. You guys are the best!

Great hotel with an ideal location. Times Square is right outside your door and around the corner. Pricing is in-line with hotel room pricing of top 10 US metro business cities. Fours Doors down from the hotel is a well stocked 24 hr market. Hot food table, deli, pastries, fresh fruits, protein drinks and bars and a wide assortment of chocolates.
The hotel does house a small onsite sundry shop. It was well stocked and included a good assortment of items needed for quick and easy convenience.
The rooms are of a good size and very comfortable for lounging if needed.
The rooms include a fridge and a wide assortment of minibar items. Free fast reliable Wi-Fi was available as well as a small business center.
Room service is limited to specific hours and a limited menu but the food was excellent. Breakfast is delicious. I have a soft spot for the oatmeal with fresh fruit. If you can afford it, go for it. It's a goldilocks breakfast. Just right! The TV was excellent. The equipment new, All HD and with a wide assortment of cable choices (both domestic and international) The bathroom was clean and included a bidet. Americans aren't used to using bidets and this probably wouldn't be the time to start as no accessories (specialized towel, gel soap) was provided. I don't know if they were available upon request.
Supplied bar soap and shampoo/conditioner/lotion top quality. The staff is excellent. They are incredibly friendly and accommodating.

Nice quiet hotel. I love the classic style. My room was huge. Probably the biggest room ive stayed in here in NYC. Everything was up to par! I will definitely stay here again. And the location is great.

Just checked in today — — what an amazing hotel! Cesar (the lovely doorman) greeted me at my cab and came around to check on me as my ride completion was a little delayed due to me searching for cash for my driver. Cesar escorted me Gudjohnsen the lush and grandly decorated lobby, up to the front desk where I was very graciously tended to by Wahlter. My Executive King Room has far surpassed my expectations! Goregous modern decor and SUPER SPACIOUS! Free Wifi, great location, I could go on… I'm a native New Yorker who usually stays with family when I visit the NYC area. I'm completely spoiled! This will be my NY accommodations go-to from now on. You can't beat this and the great pricing I originally had. I'm literally trying to add a day's stay. Do yourself a favor, book here — — you won't want to leave!

Very nice rooms — comfortable, spacious and quiet even on the lower floors. Hotel had an issue that prevented us from being able to access our room until 9:45 pm — over 6 hours after the check-in time. Hotel did not compensate room rate or even offer a drink voucher of some sort, hence the 3 star review. Would have given 5 stars otherwise.

Perfect location just north of Time Square and south of Central Park. Couple blocks from Radio City Music Hall and 30 Rock. Well maintained classy older hotel. Friendly staff and nice sized rooms. Entry a little tough with luggage but over all a great stay.

This hotel was TERRIFIC! It was much fancier than I expected and the staff were EXCEPTIONALLY helpful and cordial. I even left something in the room and they mailed it to me (with all contents in tacked). I also really like the location. We were 2 blocks north of Times Square, which meant we were out of the hustle and bustle, but we could still get to everything really quickly. Plus, there were subway stations very close by. Finally, there was a terrific cafe right next door where we at most of our meals on the go. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel.

I had no idea this hotel even existed — and I'm local! What a gem. Checked in with car and bikes expecting a hassle. Greeted by Bell Captain Cesar — warm, friendly, took care of everything quickly and painlessly. Bellman (regret I forgot his name, sorry sir) accommodating and very friendly. Rooms quiet and beautifully decorated. Continental breakfast good quality and diverse. Room rates very reasonable. Overnight valet park super reasonable for midtown. But it's the staff that makes it — great people. We love trying smaller non chain hotels for weekend getaways. But I think our trying days are over. Will definitely return to Michelangelo.

The hotel was very nice and had a great location. However, we had to be moved early in the morning because of a toilet flooding which was immensely inconvenient and they offered nothing to compensate us.

The hotel outstanding. The only criticism is that the faucet in the bathroom pulls very strong jets. You will be missed.

Had the distinct pleasure to stay at the Michelangelo over the Christmas holidays. What an amazing experience. Simply cannot say enough about this place. 5-stars are not enough. Incredible location, literally minutes walking distance from Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, Central Park, Park Avenue Shopping, just simply an amazing location. We flew into NYC on the red-eye from Las Vegas, landing at 6am. I contacted the hotel the week prior to our arrival and requested an early check-in. I was told it was up to management whether or not we would be able to check in (which I completely understand). Upon our arrival (around 8am) we got checked in with the intention of our room not being ready until about noon. Much to our surprise, we were advised our room was ready and we were guided to our room. I was most impressed. The european style breakfast was amazing as well. A good assortment of pastries. Our room was amazing, we had a great view of 51st street directly in front of the Hotel. The service of the staff was second to no one. Everyone was courteous, polite and knowledgeable of the area. We were greeted every time we came or left the property. I would HIGHLY recommend the Hotel Michelangelo to anyone planning a trip to Manhattan. I can honestly say there is no other place I will stay upon my next trip to NYC. Thank you Michelangelo staff, for making our first trip to NYC the trip of a lifetime of memories. :).

The lobby is uniquely inviting. The rooms are very spacious, extremely comfortable and the service was excellent. High recommendation for this hotel.

The lobby is gorgeous. Clean, bright, and cushy furniture with a classy décor. There is a bar upstairs on the second floor and the cocktails served that particular evening were very good (champagne with grapefruit juice). The rooftop is also pretty cool if you find a way to get up there.
