My husband and I stayed at The Surrey for 5 nights and everything was perfectly nice, and service was pleasant. We arrived around 11am on check in day and the concierge worked quickly to ensure that we could check in early (normal check in at 4pm), and we got a room within 20 minutes. Strangely, I had received an e-mail that morning asking if I wanted to upgrade to an early check-in for $50, which then seemed pointless. The bed was plush and extremely comfortable, bathroom was clean and luxurious, and the overall room was spacious (especially in New York). However, certain items such as the TV cabinet and the skirt hanging around the lamp seemed dated and in need of an upgrade. There was always complimentary Fiji waters which was nice, but it was a bit surprising that complimentary tea / coffee was not offered in the room. In fact, we requested tea late night at the hotel lounge (around 1145pm) and were told the only option was room service, and we couldn't justify paying $18 USD for a tea. We poked our head upstairs and saw that the hotel has a very nice rooftop deck with a bar, perfect for summer evenings. Overall, we were quite pleased with our stay, but having stayed at other Relais and Chateux properties, we were expecting more, and nothing in particular blew us away. At checkout, we noticed that they had billed us for Internet (even though we did not sign up for it).

The Surrey is a great Hotel! Costumer service is Great, they treat you like royalty and anything you need they will accommodate you, if there's an upgrade available they help to see if you can get it. Returning here is the Best thing we did. ☺

Although a fine hotel, not up to the class they are in. The rooms are nice enough but not high luxury. Stained furniture, hole where a somke detector was and a very leaky faucet. It does stand up as a straight luxury hotel. But by no means does it reache the price point it lives at. You can find a better hotel at this price.

Absolutely gorgeous rooms and service. Close proximity to major hospitals is a big plus.

We loved it! After arriving our original hotel and seeing it was awful we quickly found Surrey and they had a room available. We arrived late in the evening but were greeted like royalty including champagne! Jorge took great care of us and we upgraded our room! Everything was perfect! It had been a long day and we weren’t exactly in the best appearance but it didn’t matter they treated us like royalty. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful hotel. Other reviews were absolutely right when they said the bed was the most comfortable they'd slept in. It most certainly is. We were in a grand delux room and it was worth that little extra cost. If you are a product junky like me you will love the diptique products in the bathroom. I had a great massage in the spa after a hard day of shopping from Natalia. Really worth the splurge. In a great location, close to the subway. All of the staff were so lovely. Will definitely return.

Great location, rooms are of a good size and very comfortable. The service in the restaurant is terrible though. It's a good hotel but others around offer a better service for the same price.

Best hotel I have ever stayed in. Off the busy noisy central park track. Fantastic service beautiful artwork & rooftop terrace with great views. Strongly recommend it to all. A little expensive but well worth it. Will go back again.

Stayed here when they first opened, it is an absolutely beautiful luxury hotel with Duxiana beds to die for! It was the best sleep I have gotten and felt like sleeping on a cloud. Amazing bathrooms.

The Surrey Hotel has undergone a $65 million dollar renovation and it was money well spent. The hotel is beautiful, elegant and chic. There's a rooftop which is a hidden gem for guests, a spa, gym and Penthouse with a wrap around terrace. The bar and restaurant are delightful.

Great hotel, one block from Central Park and walking distance of a lot of nice boutiques. Spacious rooms and good amenities.

Great location not far from Central Park and several museums are close by the hotel. Service seems ok, however a couple of guests have indicated their rooms were not available for 3pm check in time. But overall, the staff is friendly and seem knowledgeable about the surrounding area.

If you are looking for a nice, quiet location to retire in the city, this is the perfect hotel. I have taken advantage of all of their services since I've been traveling to and from NY. The staff is attentive but understands privacy is incredibly important to many of their clients. The spa is a wonderful way to unwind after a busy work week, and the bar has fantastic cocktails. I especially love the live music they provide. If you enjoy art, take advantage of their collection — — the staff is always willing to arrange a tour. All of my requests have always been met in a timely and courteous manner, from diet restrictions while eating at Cafe Boulud to courier services. Highly recommend.

I want to thank the staff at The Surrey Hotel for an enjoyable stay, and the up grade to the Penthouse! On May 18th-19th, thanks to our niece Susan Winfield, I and my husband stayed at the Hotel. I enjoyed every moment of my stay and hope to have the change to stay there again. Thank you, Patricia Winfield.

My first day in New York, nice hotel with amazingly delicious breakfast! Came late but the staff managed serve me "late bird "breakfast anyway! Thanks!

Was going there for breakfast. The woman at the reception said the cafe was closed at 9:45am (it was 9:50am). I asked her if there was another café nearby and she took 5 minutes to check the address. All a bit silly.

Stayed one night here before heading to wine country for the weekend. Cute, eclectic boutique hotel with live music and wine in the evenings. Front desk staff was super friendly and very helpful.

Outstanding service, very comfortable room. Location is great for a stroll to Central Park, and upper east side is quiet and peaceful compared to downtown, making it a nice location to stay while visiting Manhattan. Cafe Boulud was wonderful to have in the building.

Horrible all round. Very disappointing service. Booked with an agent and had requested 2 double beds, we arrive they say they have a queen bed. They refuse to go out of their way to help us get what we want and what we ordered! They say the best upgrade they an do is $250 per night! Extreme let down for a supposed 5 star hotel. After staying at the Plaza just days before, and reviewing he service and attentiveness there, this place seems like a 3 star hotel in comparison. Anything we asked for (waters, tissues, food) over the phone, took a long tkme to arrive and we had to call back multiple times to ask again from our room. Big let down! Do not come to the Surrey.

I am writting this comment because we want to thank Estefani Wexler for her kindnes and behavior toward us when we stayed at the Hotel in October. At the end of our stay we went to the front desk and asked if it was possible to have a late check out. The lady in charge was quite harsh and warned us that we would have to pay at least have a day in the hotel. (unfortunnately I can not remember her name) I went to our room to talk it over with my wife, and she said, if we have to do it, there is nothing we can do. When I returned to the front desk I was fortunate to find Estefani and I simply explained to her our situation. She simply went to her computer, checked the availability and told us that she would consult it with her mananger. In a couple of minutes she returned and told us that there was no problem thar we could stay until 4.00 when they picked us up to go to the airport, The generosity and interest that Estefani showed in this case made our stay delightfull. Doris stayed more than a month at the Surrey and they were always very kind, but Estefani showed us that when there is interest and someone wants to help and make a guest feel at home it is possible. A touch of generosity in the hospitality is very importante. Thanks to Estefani and her attitud we will return to The Surrey next time we are in New York. Doris Salcedo and Azriel Bibliowicz.

Stunning, stylistically current boutique hotel that feels more like a residence. Understated with unique art installations that a discerning eye will appreciate. Quiet street location with local vibe. Access to Central Park and most important impeccable service and the best beds in NYC. Great value, always love my time at the Surrey.

Fantastic hotel, with a great restaurant next door and a great PH rooftop to grab some drinks. The rooms are spacious and clean. The location is great because is close to central park and the main attractions but in nice area.

My stay at the Surrey was absolutely horrible, I was grossly overcharged for the limousine service which the concierge arranged for me, instead of 4 hours I was charged 5.5 hours which, at $98 per hour, is $147 USD extra! We had already tipped the chauffeur a generous $60 when we left the car so I have no idea as to why he (John) felt the need to overcharge us by an extra hour and a half. The concierge was not helpful at all with the over billing, I asked to speak to the chauffeur and he was unable to be contacted, so I requested that the security cameras be checked to see the time we left and came back to the hotel — none of this was done, I was still overcharged, absolutely disgusting, never staying at this hotel again.

Amazing experience. Susan Long, Jose Lema, and GM Shan Kanagasingham are exceptional. The decor is pleasent and sophisticated. Rooms couldn't be more perfect and luxurious. The roof garden has spectacular views and comfy seating. The location of the hotel is perfect, I love the upper east side with the park and MET 2 blocks away.

This hotel are thieves. Because they have high prices and maybe their rooms sometimes empty for a long time. They wangle on people. I called for reservation then I didn’t like the price then they said ok. But I surprised they send for me cancelation in my email altho I didn’t conform. And I surprised more that they took money from my credit card for the room price! I called them many times to tell them it was just a bargained call. But they insisted to convince me that it was my fault.
