Very nice hotel for a good price in a hot location. Hotel staff is very kind and they have a free wine happy hour from 5-6pm daily. Rooms are clean and comfortable. I would gladly stay here again. 5 stars.

Not by any means a cheap hotel, but the internet service was fast enough and the gym was adequate. The bathroom door did not actually close, but rather rolled in front of the bathroom doorway, barnyard style. This was lacking in privacy for me. Doormen were wonderfully courteous as were the front desk staff. There was no included breakfast for the hotel. It was in what I considered to be a pretty calm part of town despite being not all that from from Grand Central Terminal. Surrounding restaurants were of a nice variety and were weren't more than 15 minutes walking distance from the water or from other businesses that interested us.

I've got to give this place 5 stars. It was totally deserving on my trip. We were treated like royalty while we were there. Very Friendly Staff! Extra large and clean room. Whatever I needed, I'd call downstairs and it would be brought up immediately. Housekeeping kept our room spotless. I had a great view of the Empire State Building. So beautiful to see at night. When I was making my reservations, the nice lady worked with me to get me the best rate possible. Our bedroom was very large and it was so nice having the extra room (den) with couch, TV, computer workspace, etc. The Suites are definitely the way to go. Great location in NY. About 4-5 blocks from Grand Central Station. I can't wait to come again. I hated leaving!

We were 2 adults and 2 children so we took a suite with separate room. With all the comforts: sofa bed, kitchen with oven coffee fridge… Lots of storage. A nice bathroom with large shower and all the toiletries. The staff is very friendly. The location of the hotel: Midtown between Grand Central and Empire… And the most: a beautiful rooftop terrace with a very nice view of the Empire State building.

A perfect reception, $10 snack per day for free, good Wi-Fi too.

This hotel is just perfect: staff friendly and smiling, very comfortable.
We were in a family Suite: bedroom + living room with convertible sofa, equipped kitchen (coffee machine + oven + fridge), bathroom with a very large shower (+ toiletries: shower gel, shampoo, conditioner…), 2 TVs.
Not to mention the gym and the roof top with a view of the Empire State.
The Scotty is a perfect dinner for a very hearty breakfast, it is 100m from the hotel.

Great staff! Cozy room with a view of the empire state building. They host a wine hour which is pretty awesome. Rooftop bar and restaurant on site. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Well located boutique hotel with cafes, grocery stores and banks within easy walking distance. Rooms are clean and well equipped, some with magnificent views of the city. Lobby is small but good enough for NYC where everyone is on the move. Elevator bank can't handle the traffic at peak checking out time so take preventive action.

I stayed here for 6 weeks. I'm not sure why it is listed as a luxury hotel, I'd classify it as upscale, but definitely not luxury like Ritz Carlton. It's more than basic though. There is a Rare Steakhouse downstairs, which I ate at far too many times. It is a close walk to offices in Midtown East. Overall, a pleasant place. Oh, and they have a pillow menu, which is pretty neat, at no extra cost. And free wine for guests in the afternoon.

It's a very nice & modern hotel within a few blocks walking distance from Grand Central Station. The rooms are very nice with good views. There's a rooftop bar that's open, season depending. Beds are very comfortable. Employees there are very helpful.

This is a nice hotel with a decent room size and modern interior design. The location is also ideal to get around the city. The price fluctuates depend on the tourist season in NYC.

The Shelburne is a great hotel. It is very conveniently located, a 7 minute walk to Grand Central, less than a mile from Penn Station, near plenty of subways, etc. There is an adequate gym which is clean, and the housekeeping crew and staff are all attentive to their guests’ needs. My husband requested a different pillow than the standard one offered and they offered him a variety of pillows. They had a non-allergenic pillow made out of buckwheat that he wound up choosing. I was told that they also have pots, pans and hot plates should one want to cook in their room. After a long stay, this is very welcome to avoid having to eat out at restaurants all the time. In April their rooftop bar is open (which you don’t need to be a hotel guest to go to…) and that is just awesome.

Mixed positive review: Great Location big 10/10 for location. 5 Mins to Grand Central you can go everywhere. They regularly over book the hotel. On our 1st night after a long flight we had to check-in at another hotel which was fortunately only 10 blocks away. The round trip taxi ride was paid for by Shelburne Hotel (nice). The other hotel was a very nice hotel tho a bit more ''fancy'' than Shelburne. Back to Shelburne Hotel we were nicely surprised being upgraded to a suite which was a nice move from the management. To be honest they are not the best but they do make an effort to make you happy. They may seem quite cold but they try to do what is right to compensate for the mishaps. Room is large but looks a bit dated but to be honest you do not go to NYC for the hotel room. From our corner suite we got a nice view of the Empire State building. I would definitely recommend the Shelburne to people who are not very picky regarding hotels. You need to do compromises. Large room and great location but a bit dated. Over booked hotel but gets an upgrade when you come back. Average customer service but they do the necessary to make you happy. I would re visit if I go to NYC again.

Very friendly staff and comfortable beds. The rooms are very nice but basic and meet standard requirements. Great for a couple who intends to spend their time exploring the city as the location is nothing short of perfect.

I had an amazing experience at the hotel this week. All staff were friendly and always seemed to be happy. Denis the doorman was really helpful and he also wears a sweet hat. The price is amazing for the room quality and the service that I received. Thanks!

Nice place. Bed was very comfortable, gym was passable. But restaurant has very little for gluten free guests and I had to go outside to get some water because I didn't want to pay $10 for a bottle of smart water. So 4 stars and not 5.

If you are looking for a affordable hotel this one is not it, on top of the room price they charge you around $50 extra pre night as ‘service’ fees. On top of that, they give you $10 credit at the lobby refrigerator where one bottle of $2 water costs $10. The rooms were like the typical 3 star hotel you would get for $50 else where.

Front desk staff was friendly and rooms are nice. Valley parking is a bit high. We parked our vehicle at 9is on Friday, called down for our car just before 9, didn't get it til about 10. Which lead to them charging is for 2 days of parking. Was not very happy to pay 120 for parking. The Restaurant staff was rude and food was a little pricy. Rooms nice, clean and comfortable.

The worst experience I have ever had in my life. First off this is not a 4 star hotel it looks like a 2 star once you pass the lobby and get in the broken down elevator to get in your outdated room that hasn’t been cleaned properly. Found hair in tub and nail clippings in the carpet not to mention stains on pillows and sheets. Just as I thought things couldn’t get any worse they did. Tried to get ice because there is no way to get ice other than room service to my surprise it took 3 hours to get. Went to sleep and was waken up by loud knocking and yelling at my door even though I had the do not disturb sign up. It was the hotel bellman and night manager screaming at me telling me that I’m smoking in the room and your gonna be charged $500 a night for smoking even though there was no signs of smoke and nothing in my room smelled like smoke at all. I couldn’t believe that this was happening all on the first day and decided that me and my wife could not stay there any longer. We had reserved 5 nights and left after 1. If you are looking to get this hotel stop yourself now and get anything else! You will regret this hotel!

Really clean, hotel service was very kind and polite. Despite the noise of cars honking and night-goers, there are actually ear plugs in the drawers! The only real issue we had was when our valet took about an hour. We called twice from our room because our cart didn't arrive until about 30 minutes later. We had to once for the valet and talk twice to the hotel service in the lobby because we were waiting for quite some time. Regardless, the facilities and room amenities were satisfactory.

Coming to New York for the first time, on business, I was overwhelmed by the hotel options available to me. The Shelburne popped out as a perfect location in my budget, and I wasn't let down. Less than 5 minutes away from 5th Ave, and only a 15 walk to Times Square/Broadway, it met all of my tourist needs. The rooms were clean and updated. The beds were firm but comfy. I did find the pillows to be a little soft and shapeless, but not soon after I stumbled across a "pillow menu" to find one that fit me perfectly. I noticed some signs age in the washroom, some staining on the walls and dirty grouting. But nothing that would stop me from staying here again, or recommending the Shelburne to anyone traveling here.

The staff at the hotel ranged considerable. Some were helpful and friendly, others seemed indifferent. Upon arrival into our room, it was clear that the room had not been cleaned well. There were crumbs on the kitchen floor and carpet. Some of the furniture looked updated while other pieces were clearly in need of replacement. For example, the couch and chair had large stains on them. The bathroom drain was very slow which was gross since 1 minute into a shower the water was several inches high. AND THEN THERE IS THE COCKROACH! We found a 2-inch, lively cockroach in our bathroom. When we called to complain, the maintenance and front desk staff seemed indifferent. Overall, this hotel was way overpriced given the lack of quality and cleanliness. Will never stay here again.

Clean and Quiet! The beds were perfect for this exhausted traveler. We decided to ride the hotel bikes around the city. Really close to Time Square. Great stay!

Room was great and modern. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Location is great and in a quieter area of Manhattan.

Rooms were fine but service was a but lacking. Lots of confusion when checking in and some less than helpful encounters with the front desk attendants. Rooftop bar has amazing views but the bar itself was closed often throughout our stay without warning. Great location and competitive pricing.

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. Com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around… The hotel is clean and looks great. The room and bathroom are both spacious. I'm staying with three other people and it does not feel crowded. Location is close Grand Central terminal and getting anywhere is a breeze. The walk to Time Square and Broadway is roughly thirty minutes, so also not too bad. The price for the room and location is a deal.

We stayed at the Shelburne NYC with our 3 children for 11 nights. The hotel is located in a perfect central location at 37th and Lexington. We walked to most attractions and used the subway at Grand Central for transportation to Yankees games. Closer subways for Brooklyn Bridge, 911 Memorial and Battery park are just a short walk away. The roof has great views to the Empire State Building. The staff are really friendly. The maids, the concierge, door men, bar tenders and front desk were all friendly and helpful. There is even a laundry in the basement. Lots of excellent local restaurants close by. This is a great place to stay if your visiting New York on holiday.

Great location in the center of Manhattan and major sights. Quiet area. Excellent price/Service ratio even if the establishment deserves U. Refresh.

We stayed here for 7 nights at the end of March 2017. The hotel is in a great location for tourists, an easy walk to many major sights and subway stations to get around the city. We stayed in a room with a kitchenette, but no plates or cutlery provided so it's a little useless unless you ask. The room was a decent size, larger than the average UK hotel room with a comfortable bed that could easily sleep 4. The rooms aren't individually air conditioned but we were able to temperature regulate by opening the windows. Very friendly staff and the rooms were kept to a good standard.

Excellent service while I was in NYC. Had a few quotes and the guys at reception were so kind, respectful and produce a happy atmosphere around the lobby. Very nice hotel with a great roof top view and lobby area. My room was fantastic! Awesome view and beds were made well! The restaurant, 'rare' is highly recommended if you love American meats and is said to be one of the popular restaurants known to taxi drivers. And as we know, there's thousands and thousands of taxi drivers in NYC. Overall I highly recommend this hotel! However, I would say that it is kid friendly, as you'll have to be over 21 after, I believe it's 5pm to go onto the roof top and that is mainly because of the vast range of drinking options up there.

The stuff are super helpful and nice! David provided my family upgrades and warm welcome. The bed is so soft and comfortable. They provided free printing service, and free wine reception during 5-7pm. When I was rush to catch the train, they prepared my reserved luggage before I arrive to save time. The stuff was also nice to carry my luggage in the car in the heavy raining day! Thank you! I have a great time :)

My stay in the hotel was ok. But when leaving the hotel the personnel was ready to call a taxi for me. The taxi (T477538C9) was fine, but with no taximeter and no receipt was available. The payment was high and only cash was accepted. I wonder if this kind of service is consistent with the values of the hotel.

This was my 2nd visit to the Shelburne and the first time was wonderful, this time however I had an issue with credit card security. After I checked out of the hotel they kept my card on the room and the guests after me were able to charge their food and alcohol to my card! When I realized there were charges and I called to speak to a manager at 12 in the afternoon it took 6 hours to get a call back. I then spoke with David Ortiz the manager who accused me and/or my guest of making these charges before checking and seeing that I had actually been checked out of the room and it was NOT supposed to be put on my card. I find it distasteful to accuse your guests and not be understanding when someone's now short on money they did not spend. As a single mother trying to have a night out, I like to know that when I give my credit card information to an establishment that my information is safe and my money will not be toyed with. I am very disappointed and would not recommend this hotel after this incident and lack of sympathy on the hotel managements part. Accidents happen but to be nasty about it is really upsetting. Perhaps some sensitivity training is due for management team.

Clean and simple. Poorly designed bathroom. Within walking distance of many activities, but just a bit father than many other hotels. Didn't like that no air conditioning was available unless outside temperature was over 65, especially during allergy season. The 3rd star of my rating was for the free wine in the lobby between 5 and 6 p. M.

Room was clean and staff was friendly. During the winter they don't turn the AC on in the rooms and my room was really musky and hot when we first entered. After I opened the window it cooled down and it was much more pleasant. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

I got a room from HT for $105, which seemed to be a good deal, on surface. Once I checked in, my room was dark, furnishings looked dated, windows faced walls and back alleys. Rather depressing. Staff apparently lacked listening skills. Personally, I'd pay a little more to stay at the Tuscany, where I could spread out and enjoy the view.

We have stayed at this hotel about 6 times. Until recently our stays have been pleasant except for long waits for the elevator if the hotel is busy. In early December (2015), I again was doing business in NYC and stayed at the hotel. My business took longer than expected and I needed to stay an additional night and called the front desk about 7am to reserve my room for another night. Accommodations were confirmed. Upon returning to the hotel that evening I could not access my room. I went to the front desk and explained my situation. In short, after almost 40 min of computer work and talking with the manager I was told that they had missed my extension and had rented the room. I asked wher my clothes, medicines, toiletries and computer were. They had my toiletries and medicine, but had left my clothing and computer in the room. The manager Tom me up to claim my belongings. There were already someone else's belongings in the room. The only problem is my computer was missing. They were never able to locate it during my stay. A week later I returned and followed up with the manager to no avail. He said the hotel insurance company would be notified and get in touch. Still no communication as of February 15thq. Have left two messages for management with no return call. This is highly unprofessional treatment of a hotel guest. It's quite a dissapointment.

My family and I had an amazing time here. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It was also a great price for where it was located. I will say that concierge was slow in responding to requests. I had to call 3 times to get extra pillows (They have a pillow menu! ) They also didn't have our room ready so we had to wait 30-45 minutes from them to clean it. They did their best to correct it so it seems more like they're understaffed. Great hotel. Great customer service. Great chance of me coming back.

Right in the middle of Manhattan very good situated and 5 min to walk to Central Station. Staff was nice and helpful. Rooms are a bit old but really ok and very clean. I can only recommend this hotel.
