What an experience! Not only is the Roadrunner clean and spacious with an amazing crew behind the scenes, it’s truly an experience. Like stepping back in time, but with the modern day conveniences we’ve grown to love like good Wi-Fi and comfortable beds. Oozing with nostalgia, it’s a blast from the past, but it’s now! The Roadrunner lodge is a gem inside Tucumcari, along I40 and along the historic Route 66. A must visit!

From the first moment we arrived to check in I was taken back in time to road trips with my parents. The radio was playing ads from the 60s in our room. It really set the mood. Beds were very comfortable. MCM decor was very nicely done. All retro decor seemed new and room was very clean. I went to the lobby to get a coffee cup for my evening wine. The owner gave me a pretty blue wine glass instead. Unfortunately, the glass was knocked over (didn’t break) and spilled on the pristine white bedding. So sorry! Next time through we will definitely stay here and keep the wine outside.

This place is adorable nice simple motel in a sleek 60s style. Very clean. And they even had a lovely set up for the dogs. Highly recommend.

Very friendly staff. Clean rooms. The pet park is amazing and appreciated. No frills but so worth the stay. Very affordable. We will stay again.

Pet friendly, super easy to work with even with a last minute reservation. Family loved the retro decor and the Route 66 history. Great town to stop in if you’re passing through!

This place is so cute and well thought out! Everyone is super friendly and kind! They even had “turn down service” for our pups! The room was spotless and so cute with the “Swanky 60’s” decor! There was even a radio on in our room when we arrived with a great 60’s station playing. I give it 5 stars and Rowdy and Ruger give it two enthusiastic paws up!

Great nostalgic motel and amazing customer service! When we arrived the lights were on, there was 60’s music playing and there was even a doggie welcome package. (See picture) The room had 60’s decor like TV trays, furniture, baby blue sink and even the magazines! Outside there’s a large fire pit and a fenced, lighted dog park area. If you’re traveling by motorcycle and it rains, they provide towels in the lobby to wipe it down before you leave. The drawbacks are there is no hairdryer (had to buy one at the dollar store) or coffee pot in the room but there is coffee in the lobby. Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable!

This is without a doubt the best motel to stay at if you have a dog. We were greeted in a super friendly manner & asked the name of our dog. When we went to our room there was already a greeting for her by name & biscuits & a little towel & bowl if she needed them. They have a leash-free dog run, as well! Our room was retro fabulous, the heat was on & oldies playing on the radio when we got in. I have never felt so welcomed to a motel in my life, we (including our pup) were treated like royalty. I cannot reccomend this establishment highly enough!

We are staying here for the second time in 5 months, traveling with couple Golden Retrievers. This place is awesome — very pet friendly hotel and the owners.
Room is nice and clean with dog dish and some welcoming treats and dog towels if needed. Also has nice big dog run all fenced in with night light and water dish

I have no knowledge of this hotel previous to my stay but, I was surprisingly amazed. The rooms are beautiful & cozy, the ambiance was great & the staff was very accommodating even with the no contact check in. We were pleased & if I ever get back this way, we will definitely pay a visit…

Our room was spotless, there was a very sweet note from the owners doggies Gia and Elvis to our pups with treats, a water bowl, and special dog towels on the bed to welcome them. And there were moon pies on the coffee table. Love those! The owners couldn’t have been nicer! You must stay here. We come through Tucumcari often to go back home to Texas. We used to stay at a Route 66 motel for many years. The new owners were ugly and rude to us and banned us from staying there because I said something about the shredded up lamp shade! I’m sorry the prior owners moved.
Anyway, we have an awesome fantastic place to stay now!

We didn’t get to stay very long but we loved it! Received a nice phone call letting us know the room was all ready for us to arrive. I goofed and didn’t put we had two dogs on our online booking through hotels. Com but told the owner when we got there. He was more than accommodating and even put stuff in the room to spoil them with! It was a very nice last minute touch considering my ditziness. They had a nice and clean dog yard for them to run around in which I was extremely thankful for after a 15 hour drive with two hyper dogs. Our beds were extremely comfortable and the room was super cozy. If we are passing through again and need a place to stay, we will definitely be back! ❤️

When we walked into the room, it automatically took us both back to an innocent time in our lives! Really if the TV wasn't on the wall and was a console, I would think I had went back in time. Also the music being on the 60s music channel sent it over the top!

It's probably the cleanest motel we've stayed in. Great rooms reminiscent of the 60's. Love the treat of Moon Pies and small bottles of water in the room. Fof added fun, book the Snazzy 60's room with the Magic Fingers! Nothing better than a massaging bed after a long road trip! This is our go to motel along Rt 66.

Not only the Coolest room I've ever been in, but very possibly the cleanest. Highly recommend the Magic Fingers nostalgia room! Cannot give a higher rating!

This is the coolest place I’ve ever stayed anywhere in the world. As a huge fan of the 1950s/60s what could be better than staying in a period room? Really tastefully decorated, super clean, and lots of period features. These guys have done an amazing job recreating a motel with a period feel that isn’t your normal run down motel. I highly recommend this place and would love to stay there again.

Super clean and comfortable. Beds are fantastic. Not too many frills. No fridge nor microwave in the room. Owner is on site and offered me plenty of ice for my cooler. Will definitely stay her on my nxt trip thru Tucumcari. Get your kicks on Route 66!

This was a hidden treasure. The hotel is older, but updated vintage style. Super clean and the staff was so nice. Prior to our arrival, they turned on the a/c and the lights in our room so it would be comfortable for us. Also, left a couple of moon pies on rhe table. Nice vintage touch.

Stayed here recently and it was just great. I wish we could find more rooms like this. We could do more road trips. Excellent everything. Very clean and comfortable.

Nice stay. Room was very clean and well done. We were on our way to the Grand Canyon, so this was just a quick stay. Very pleased.

Stayed at the Roadrunner Lodge last night with my wife and we both thoroughly enjoyed it! The “Snazzy Sixties” room was like stepping into a time machine! Also loved that it was so clean and comfortable!

Booked the Snazzy 60s room with Magic Fingers Coin Op bed. Entire room is retro. The lights were on for us. Classic radio with old commercials were playing when we arrived. Moonpie in the room. Pink toilet. The bed is super comfy. Thick pillows. Soft sheets and blankets. There is even a TV tray to eat at. It does has a Flat panel TV with Direct TV too. So you are missing out on any amenities. You get an actual key rather than a key cars. This was one of the best stays we had on our 12 day vacation. Highly recommend. We will be coming back.

If you’re thinking of staying at the Roadrunner Lodge, you’re probably a fan of Route 66 – and I’d highly recommend a stay here. But even if you’re not a fan of the Mother Road, and just decide to stay in “Tucumcari Tonite, ” I’d still recommend the Roadrunner Lodge because of the wonder attention to detail that has gone into your stay. I stayed in one of their “Swanky 60s” rooms, and was immediately transported away in time when I opened the door. The period furniture and lam…ps first struck me, along with their own radio station “broadcasting” hits (and old commercials) from the era. Then there were the little things – an old Life magazine, the “sanitized for your protection” wrappers on the glasses and the toilet, a couple Moon Pies left as snacks, an old TV tray that I was able to put my laptop on (they have a really fast Wi-Fi connection, BTW), an actual View Master with discs, and my bed was equipped with Magic Fingers. The bed itself was so comfortable, I had a great night’s sleep the two nights I stayed, but the Magic Fingers made it even better – both in comfort and in nostalgia. The rooms are smaller, but they pack a lot of punch in giving you the true 60s feel. And their attention to detail doesn’t stop there. The owners, David and Amanda, always make sure that your visit is completely without worry or concern. They have plenty of tips to help you enjoy your stay, a fresh cup of coffee to start your morning, and make you feel completely at ease.

Wonderful evening spent here in Tucumcari, NM at the Roadrunner Lodge. Every overnight experience should be quiet, clean and comfortable, and this was certainly that. But the bed was exceptional, pillows amazing, towels soft. They didn't nickel and dime you for bottled water, Moon Pies or other snacks but treated you as a welcome guest. The room is absolutely from the 60s, but had a great TV and plenty of plugs for our modern needs. Treat yourself here instead of Amarillo.

We had a wonderful stay! The room and bed were very comfortable and spick n span clean! They furnished every toiletry we needed! The manager and owners were especially friendly and helpful! Very knowledgeable about local restaurants and info! We would definitely stay again! Thank you David and Amanda!

This was one of the cleanest, nicest motels we have ever stayed in and the personality and charm that came with it just made it an excellent experience. The Wi-Fi was great, they gave us vouchers for a free breakfast at the diner across the street, which was amazing too. All in all we are happy we decided to make a pit stop in this lovely little town for the night.

Perfect spot for a very comfortable stay along Old Rt 66! I'm pretty fussy about beds and this one didn't disappoint. The room was immaculate, nicely decorated with vintage furnishings and the owners were really nice. Lots of parking and a few decent local restaurants. They even had Whoopie pies and 60's music in the room. Loved it'

I feel like I've stepped into a time machine. I went from 2017 all the way back to 1967 simply by checking into the Roadrunner Lodge in Tucumcari, NM. This is the coolest motel on Route 66. They have completely redone the entire motel as it was during the Mother Roads heyday. Everything is period correct and well cared for all the way down to the Magic Fingers bed massages that actually work. If you ever get this way your trip won't be complete without an overnight stay here. Be prepared to be transported back to a time when travel was actually enjoyable.

We are from TN heading to the Grand Canyon. We stopped right before close to take up a night here and it was great! Good nostalgic vibe and my husband and I got a huge kick out of the old rotary phones, pictures and cars. Rooms clean and comfy! Very nice staff! The treats in the lobby were such a nice touch. We will be back if we need an overnight close by!

A year later and I'm still raving about this place. I was all for diving all in on my Route 66 journey. Speaking of diving… my bathroom shower had "no swimming" and "no diving" tiles straight from the swimming pool. Don't know what I'm talking about? Well, you must have not checked into Room 12. I had my heart set on checking into the Blue Swallow. The lovely people recommended the Roadrunner. I'm so glad they did cause it's exactly what I was looking for! The retro feel is amazing. The friendly people on the office were so kind and took the time to explain my room and the history of not only the hotel but it's standing in Rouute 66 town. I vowed to stay longer the next time I'm on the Mother Road.

Awesome place to stop and relax for the night! We had the Snazzy 60s room and when we arrived the A. C. Was already on and 60s style radio was playing in our room complete with old commercials. It was a wonderfully unique route 66 experience!

A throwback to the 50s when Route 66 was a big thing. Comfortable beds, nice showers. No pool anymore but they did have a nightly bonfire. Owner was a really nice guy. Up the street is a good local diner.

Wonderful place to stay. Funky, newly renovated motel with a strong 60s vibe. Rooms are spacious, clean, and well lit. Furniture is tasteful "60s in the 21st century" style. Don't expect big luxury, but if you're looking for a clean comfortable place with good vibes and a sense of history this is perfect. The owners are nice and interesting to talk to, and there are good places to eat and drink (coffee and more) in town. We'll be back!

It's an amazing find. Dave and Amanda (the on-site owners) are great. Couldn't do enough for us. Stayed in room 12… the 60's swank room. You gotta try get this and/or room 7… it's brilliant. The motel is spotless and very well appointed with laundry facilities, complimentary coffee and snacks. Can't recommend this motel enough. It's a wonderful motel.

Absolutely, positively one of the nicest places to stay along Route 66. The owners have done an incredible job of making this a "must stop" location. The rooms were perfect. They have given attention to every detail. I love this place.

If you're looking for a quick stop off the freeway with a continental breakfast, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for a great Route 66 experience, this is the place for you! Very classy 60's swank hotel. Room was complete all the way down to the era TV Guide. Oh, and you have to eat breakfast at the Kix on 66 to complete the experience.

The sign of the motel Roadrunneur Lodge reminds the cartoon character "Bip Beep and coyote" of Warner Bros. In front of the reception you can see an old Ford.

We stopped in without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised to get a room. The owners were super nice and have done a great job honoring the era and spirit of Rt. 66! The bed was comfortable and the towels were actually human sized. We can't wait until we make it back!

Wonderfully decorated motel in period furnishings (from the 1960s). If you like Route 66 Americana, then Roadrunner Lodge is your place. Well kept and very clean rooms sport classic 60s era furniture (even had an old style "TV tray" next to the sink outside the bathroom). Keep in mind that the rooms do not have refrigerators or microwaves.

Delightful experience! Nice family atmosphere, updated & clean retro rooms — I would stay here again just for the different experience from the cookie cutter type lodging. Just far enough away from interstate to be nice & quiet, too.

Roadrunner is wonderful. It is conveniently located and very reasonably priced. The best part are all the little touches such as the vintage furniture and 50's-era art. Owners Dave and Amanda welcome guests warmly and make sure their stays are comfortable. We'd definitely stay here again!

We stayed twice in the last week. First room was — the James Woods room (complete with an autographed framed paper). Super clean and comfy. The 60's appointments in the rooms are right on. The owners are fantastic and take major pride in what they provide. Tonight there's a fire pit going in the little fenced area in the parking lot. A/C works great. This place is a true gem. We will certainly be back.

Stayed in one of the newly remodeled rooms during our trip following parts of the Mother Road. She was very pleasant and helpful making sure we had everything we needed. The room was pretty and clean with a brand new bed. Very nice.

This is, by far, the best hotel we've stated in on our trip down Route 66! It has amazing beds and high speed internet! On top of all that the owners are amazing!
