This hotel has no frills, but is clean, relaxed and affordable.

Great location, clean room and easy on and off freeway.

Quiet, comfortable, but pretty small room. Super clean. Stayed during Covid, so no breakfast, pool or workout room. Just passing through, so I doubt I'll ever be back, but I'd definitely recommend it.

Perfectly clean. Super affordable. Wonderful staff. I’ve stayed here twice, and I think this will forever be my stopping point on my regular commute to visit family out-of-state.

A friend and I had to find a hotel last minute that allowed pets, and this hotel was so accommodating, very affordable, and friendly. I can’t say enough nice things, the room was clean, the beds were comfy, they even had two bottles of water waiting for us, and the free breakfast was great. Thank you so much! I wish I could’ve have stayed longer.

We stayed at the Desert Inn August 10, 2018. The room was nice and clean … and they offered a nice breakfast in the morning. They also welcomed our 9 pound Pomeranian! Lots of restaurants to walk to nearby and good dog walking also. We would stay again!

This is a terrible hotel! Do not stay here. There is no ac in the hallways. The ac in the rooms don't cool adequately. There is no elevator. Hotel clerk is great, but the cheap owners use some kind of swamp cooler to save money. Spend more money and get a better hotel room with adequate AC.

Clean, nice staff and all around a great place to stay. Breakfast was delicious! No elevator for second story, so you will need to be able to haul your luggage up stairs unless you get a ground floor room. The pool and jacuzzi are indoors; the pool is a little small, but kids had fun.

Renovated inn. Friendly staff. Room was clean with a nice roomy tub due to the curved shower curtain rod. Bed and pillows were comfy with a properly working AC unit. Free parking, Wi-Fi, and a great hot breakfast with juices and coffee. Price was great too. The only bad thing I can say is that, if you're here for the fitness center, it was only a hydraulic stepper, treadmill, and stationary bike. Other than that, great stay!

If you check in to motel you should not be subjected to desk clerk being RUDE! 20 minutes early to checkin and we were not allowed to sit and wait in motel! Even my husband said she was rude and we canceled our stay. I'm more than willing to pay more for better service. So Best Western Motel made up for it. I had called numerous Desert Inn (4-5) time's and no answer. So I walked to motel to get info.

Nice, clean and comfortable rooms with breakfast from 6-9! (Looks to be recently remodeled). They do allow pets for very small additional fee! Prices are reasonable compared to other properties in the area! Walking distance to McDonalds, Taco Bell, Blake’s burgers (which I didn’t get to try this time) and more!

We stayed here overnight. The staff was very nice. The rooms were extremely clean. And very comfortable. We had a good breakfast the next morning. And the morning staff was just as nice. I would recommend staying here over any chain hotel anytime. Enjoy the spa that night too.

Decent hotel with a fantastic price. Almost half of the chain hotels in the same area. Room was clean, good breakfast and a hot shower. Twyla was an awesome host when we arrived and was very informative. Next time we’re near New Mexico, we will definitely book a night! Don’t let the name fool ya, guarantee it’s nicer than a couple chain, higher priced hotels on the same street.

Very nice hotel. Our room was nice and very clean. We spent quite a bit of time in the pool which was great after traveling all day. And the staff was very pleasant and most helpful. The price was very fair and I would highly recommend this place.

Beware of this establishment! Experiences vary based on the room and the staff! On May 30th, the desk clerk was awesome when we checked in during the night. We chose this place based on the reviews and we're extremely happy we did. Very friendly staff and accommodations were perfect! On June 3rd, we checked in just before dark and the desk clerk was snipity and would not let my wife talk. She cut us off and said she "needs to do her spiel" She was so involved about telling us everything about the hotel even though we had stayed there 3 days earlier. We got to our room and it stunk like cigarettes, the window was partially unlocked and the window screen was partially pried out. The air conditioner barely worked so we complained to Twyla. She apologized and said she would make a note of it. After coming back from the pool the room smelled like chemicals that numbed our tongues and gave my wife a headache. We don't know if she sprayed something in the room after we passed by her on the way to the pool or what. When we went back to complain, the night desk clerk was rude and said he needed to check the room. He then proceeded to say the room has never been a smoking room and that the room was recently renovated and the air conditioner was new. He stated the room smelled fresh and stated he has been in the hotel industry for many years. The clerk never apologized for anything or acted like he cared.

Great place to spend the night. Comfy bed and quiet heater fan. The staff were excellent and the breakfast tasty with green chile for the eggs.

First time sleeping in an inn, splendid experience. Great accommodations… Twyla is an incredible breath of fresh air. She is genuinely happy, loves the inn, awesome with customers and incredibly informative without being pushy or forced to be. Her personality helped us enjoy our stay all the more!

Friendly and helpful staff. Close to highway. Walking distance to fast food. Clean. Breakfast area and lobby had updates. Rooms a bit antiquated. Electrical strips used to support fridge, microwave and various functions within the room. No elevator. NOISEY! Not appropriately insulated whatsoever! Heard people drying hair, clearly heard conversations, TV shows, staff was certainly the highlight of our stay.

Nice clean place. Great staff and good morning breakfast and coffee. Parking a little tight if you have anything larger than a sedan. For the price I will definitely be staying there in the future.

We stopped for a quick overnight stay and their prices were very reasonable compared to the local brand name chain hotels. Our room was clean, they give 2 courtesy bottles of water (which I loved not having to go find a vending machine and buy), and a really good hot breakfast the next morning. The only things that would have made it better would be an ironing board and iron but we didn't ask and there may have been one available somewhere to use. Side note, no elevator to the second floor rooms.

Disappointed! No elevator to second floor. Ice machine obviously out for a long time on second floor. Mold on shower walls. Shower curtain VERY worn in multiple places. Soap is old bar soap and both soaps were broken. Fiberglass shower floor squeaked loud enough to disturb next room while showering. Told "out" of tooth brushes. This is nothing more than a weak 2.5 star at best.

The Desert Inn is a great hotel! We enjoyed our stay here very much. The rooms and hotel lobby felt modern and clean. The desk clerk was kind, and the free continental breakfast was a bonus. Highly recommended.

Great night customer service. Had everything you could want from a stay. Laundry was on site and reasonable. Pool and hot tub were well maintained and clean. Room was also clean and bed was comfortable. Bathroom was basic as we're toiletries, but was clean. Breakfast was standard fare but with Chili's as well. Would stay here again.

Stopped at this hotel for a night of sleep after driving all day. Making a reservation over the phone was easier than booking online. Price was percect. The receptionist was super friendly and very helpful at check in. Hotel accepts pets and is kid friendly. Free breakfast was great. I would stay here again!

Non chain budget motel. Very clean all around. The rooms are a bit smaller than average, but adequate for the day or two of your visit. Good location with quick serve restaurants, but for more than a small C-store you'll have to drive.

Traveling back and forth across the country to visit family we have stayed in many hotels/motels. The Desert Inn is one of the best for quick layovers. Very clean and convenient to attractions and places to eat. Very accommodating to our little fur baby. The breakfast is plentiful and better than the majority of hotels that include breakfast. The room rate is also half the price of its comparable large chain neighbor.

I recently stayed at the Desert Inn Hotel again. I had stayed there a year ago and encountered the most pleasant stay. Not only was my room very neat and comfortable… the front desk person, Twyla was so friendly and went above and beyond the call of duty to help with my needs. I had met her last year as well and was hoping that she was still there as I had remembered her being so kind to me. I would recommend the Desert Inn Hotel to anyone who wanted a friendly, clean and affordable place to stay while traveling to Tucumcari, Nm. Thanks Twyla for still being there and for loving your job the way you do and making me feel so welcomed!

By far the best hotel I’ve stayed at for the price from my trip from Florida to Arizona. I got a one bed hotel and it’s very nice, pretty small but to me it’s perfect. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The indoor pool and hot tub is Just bonus. I Spent 75 for the room and it was completely worth it.

This a great place to stay! A clean and comfortable room and a nice hot breakfast. They have a pool and a hot tub, but we didn't have time for that. I recommend this place.

Great place to stay. Clean and charming. But, best of all was the wonderful lady (Jessica) at the front counter. She made us feel like old friends. Yet vertically professional. She has the one thing most big chain hotels have lost. Personality! she gives the place a personal and friendly atmosphere that is just completely void in most places now that I have stayed over the last two years. Which is about 25. So this compliment is big! Thank you, Desert Inn… and thank you, Jessica.

Small but absolutely fine. Nice window seat, comfy bed, same breakfast as all the other motels around. Near restaurants and fast food places. Lovely staff. Reasonable price.

We got in late at night and had no problem checking in. The TV channel lineup was better than your average hotel. Also they offer free postcards and will pay for the postage to send them out! Cool offering that isn't at every hotel. The breakfast was okay as well, had waffles, eggs, bagels, cereal, and muffins. Would stay again!

Affordable and quirky Roadside hotel, would stay again for the price point. Was driving back to Texas from a road trip and needed to find somewhere affordable to stay the night. This place had a decent free breakfast, with scrambled eggs and biscuits and gravy being my go to. It was fairly clean, and the shower had marvelous water pressure. Matress was probably due for a replacement, but I think at this price point it's a good value compared to other hotel chains. Would stay again next time I'm through, hopefully I will have time to check out the pool amenities.

Desert Inn was hands down, the best hotel on our cross country trip! The room is was very nice, the complimentary breakfast was perfect and well stocked. The indoor pool was awesome, my kids really enjoyed it! The only complaint I have is, the AC wasn't strong enough for a 90+ degree night.

This place was pretty awesome in a lot of ways, with a few issues. First off, the receptionist rattled off so much information on what was available and going on there, I'm pretty sure her name was Google. But her pace was such and the flow of logic made sense so I actually retained all of it when my wife started grilling me with questions. My family said that the hot tub was green, which was less than inspiring. The rooms were a touch narrow and looked as though someone slapped on a bunch of modern amenities to the original 1940's construction, and I wasn't impressed with the full wall mirrors over the queen beds. But it was clean and well kept, and the breakfast layout was quite impressive. Something was a bit off with the eggs. Not bad, exactly, just off. And other than the information, the staff didn't seem to go above and beyond, but I would definitely stay there again.

Very friendly staff and nice clean room. Much cheaper then the other 2 right by them. Very convenient if you not wanting to get to far off the interstate. Tried to stay on my way back but unfortunately they were full. The lady at the front desk did suggest other places in the area and advised me on which ones to avoid so I managed to still have a safe good nights sleep.

For the price, convenience, and the pet friendly policy Desert Inn is a very good value. This was a Microtel property a number of years ago, which is why the rooms are on the small side, but we had ample space for our overnight stay. The room, and property, as a whole was clean. The staff was friendly, and the hotel seemed to be in a safe location. We would stay here again and we would recommend it to family and friends.

Room was super tiny, no towels for pool and front desk said no towels (how does a hotel have no towels? ), front desk guy on check in was nice, lady who replaced him was rude, hair dryer in bathroom didn't work, coffee making facilities does NOT mean a coffee maker in your room. Room was clean. We will see how breakfast is when we get down there. I would not recommend unless you are stopping just to crash for the night and that is all.

First time staying here. They only had 3 rooms left and I was so glad we took a chance on a motel that isn't a national chain. Start to finish, the parking lot is clean with parking spaces large enough not to get dents from car doors, the girl that checked us in was very friendly and told me everything about the place, all the way down to the full breakfast menu. Wow that's a lot t of food. We didn't eat breakfast due to it was packed but we will hopefully be able to reserve a room here again The room was very clean and the bed was so comfortable. Great place.

Called from the road, really late at night, tired and looking for a comfortable place to lay our heads. We were in a newly renovated room and it was great. The bed was comfortable, room — very clean, I will stay there again. Breakfast was pretty good and the coffee was darned good. Very nice staff!

Very decent especially for the price. They had a hot tub that was great except the hairball that floated out and the ultra strong bleach smell. The pool was spot on. The rooms we comfortable and clean and even had a couple of bottles of water!

Nice, clean room. Great staff. Good breakfast, eggs, biscuits, gravy, etc. Bummer, no coffee pot in room. Timed heat lamp in bathroom only had regular floodlight. TARDIS door in lobby made up for it.

Great experience for our one night stay. The front desk staff were very helpful, pleasant and quick with check in/out. We were also given dining recommendations which turned out to be amazing. Would gladly stay here on my next stop.

Staff was very friendly. Rooms were clean, bed was comfortable. We were on the second floor, no elevator, but the stairs were spacious. We booked this hotel because of the spa, which was unfortunately out of order the day of our visit. The ice machine on our floor was out of order well, with a sign telling us to go downstairs for ice. When we got down stairs that machine was out of order as well. The breakfast was nice with a good selection of breads, cereal, and even biscuits and gravy. We wanted to cruise Route 66 and see the neon, but it was all off. I would recommend this hotel again.

They booked the wrong rooms and then didn't do anything about it. Expected 7 people to share two rooms with one bed in each, not even a couch was in the room. Very little moving room around bed and in room in general. Advertised prices were not what we got. Pass through this town often, won't be using this hotel again. Not pleased with paying $20 more than advertised price for the wrong room.

The staff was very kind — particularly Jessika at the front desk — and the rooms were sufficient. However, in the morning there was no hot water and the gravy for the biscuits and gravy was runny and grey. Overall not a bad stop over but probably not one I'll repeat.

Top Notch! Clean everything, exceptional customer service and reasonable prices. On our way from Nashville to Phoenix, we reserved a room at another hotel, but when we pulled up the place was a dump. I remembered looking at this one online, so we traveled a little further and called to reserve a room, when we were still an hour away. The lady who answered the phone and who eventually greeted us at check-in was super friendly and very informative. We now know where to stay on our trips back and fourth to Phoenix. I travel alot for work and can tell you that I have never been so impressed with customer service at any hotel, ever. These people care about thier business and it shows!

The customer service was wonderful and the free postcards were such a nice touch! The beds were fairly comfortable and I really enjoyed sitting in the window seat to work on my laptop. The room was very clean and the floors were nice. The room itself was a nice size with a good size bathroom. There are no elevators so it might be worth it to pay a little extra for a guaranteed ground floor room.

The front desk clerk was top notch. She knew everything you needed to know about your stay and could tell you all of it in 5 minutes. Well-spoken. I loved the hotel. Clean. Quiet Ac unlike any other hotel. The other guests weren't shady or creepy like at some other hotels. They were respectable older couples mostly. I wasnt afraid to stay here alone. Very nice place. Recently traveled from East Texas to Utah. Stopped and rested at the desert inn. Rates are decent and the room was not overall bad except I got bit my a spider on my lip. Spiders are everywhere so I don't blame them. Not sure what detergent they use but I also broke out lol again how are they to know that's going to happen lol I'd stop again during my travels.

Polite staff, warm rooms and a good breakfast with plenty of variety on what to eat. The rooms are on the small side otherwise we'll be back in a few months.

Overall this is a great hotel with very friendly and accommodating staff. The rooms are well appointed and clean. Beds are comfy. The only reason. For the 3 stars is that the walls are not well insulated or soundproofed. We heard the family next door all night long. Other than that our stay was very nice.

When we arrived the clerk had serious trouble getting our pet charge resolved on the computer because we charged for the pet after our room was previously booked. Claimed that Priceline was the problem, but we didn't have any problems from the hotel the day before or any hotels after this one. Those hotels were smart enough to know that this would be a problem so had us pay cash instead. The clerk at the Desert Inn claimed that they "run into this problem all the time and that it's better to pay when you first arrive rather than online". If they "run into this problem all the time. " you'd think they would have figured out how to resolve it just like all the other hotels have so they wouldn't "run into this problem all the time". This was the only hotel we had a problem with checking in our pet. The shower/tub looked like it needed some work, the beds were too soft-made my back sore. Carpets were so dirty it made my bare feet black and I only stayed there one night! Their continental breakfast was ok. It was actually better than all the other hotels we stayed at with continental breakfasts, but that was pretty much the only positive. • • •.

Very clean, affordable and very roomy. Didn't find any meat on the breakfast bar but had a very tasty green chile sauce to cover the boiled eggs. The night attendant was very pleasant and helpful detailing the layout of the hotel. Wi-Fi worked well also. That is almost a MUST to keep current on finances and info today.

Very comfortable beds, nice people I enjoyed my stay. Over the last month and a half I have stayed there 3 times and had a great night sleep.

DO NOT STAY AY THIS HOTEL! The place is now the Desert Sands and is falling apart. The room was tatty (wallpaper hanging off the walls). The pool is closed by NM environmental health. The day staff are surly and unpleasant. The breakfast positively inedible (get a breakfast burrito at Blake's Lotaburger instead — highly recommended! ) and the wireless internet did not work. All in all the worst Hotel I have stayed in in a Tucumcari.
