Reviews of Hotel St. Marie 3*
Pool is good, cafe is good and Paul the barman in the Vacherie knows his stuff. 👍
It’s in a great location and the staff is great.
Loved this gorgeous little gem. Close to everything so good for walking adventures. Extremely fresh and clean property with amazing staff who make you feel right at home. Kindly allowed us to check in early due to our cruise ending earlier than anticipated (first time cruising so now we know)! Helpful in taking luggage to our room. Comfy beds and we had a sweet little Juliet balcony. The TV is HUGE. It was the perfect place to stay close to the action but also far enough away it wasn’t loud or obtrusive. Will definitely stay again when in NOLA!
Very nice and reasonably priced accommodations in French Quarter and all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful!
I have stayed here 3 times. It's absolutely perfect. Gorgeous courtyard, amazing rooms and balconies, great bar and half a block from Bourbon St. You're right in the middle of everything and yet the rooms are quiet and accommodating. Everyone is amazing!
It’s a great location. The rooms are nice. The court yard is great. They have a good bar and restaurant. And a coffee shop for the morning.
The Hotel St. Marie is one of our favorite hotels. The hotel is centrally located half a block from Bourbon St. And shopping and only moments from Jackson Square. Tithe staff are friendly and professional and there for anything you need. I have stayed 3 times and this last time our entire family stayed at the hotel. We were able to meet in the bar or lobby and walk anywhere e wanted to go. I will always stay at the Valentino Hotels!
Excellent hotel near Bourbon Street but very quiet. Staff are kind and very helpful. Best place in the quarter to stay.
Spent a long weekend here and had a wonderful time. Beautiful room and a great staff.
Awesome 👏 This place is cool! Old school Hotel.
Great people, Great Location!
Stayed here in 2010 and it was perfection. Conveniently located, valet parking with secure garage on premises, rooms with balcony overlooking street or courtyard, great old historic bldg. Plan to stay there again this year.
Friendly staff, great breakfast, and just a few feet away from some of our favorite places in The Quarter!
The Guest Service Was Outstanding And The Rest of the team was outstanding as well nice clean rooms and lovely atmosphere … Will Be Returning Soon …
Hotel St. Marie was the perfect place to stay during our first visit to New Orleans. The hotel itself has a good feel to it and is perfectly located, staff was very kind, and the cafe/bar were perfect for early morning or late night food cravings. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again!
We stayed Sunday to Friday. 99% of the staff was super friendly and helpful. Front desk, bar, valet, and cafe are wonderful. We don’t like room service, but the lovely ladies asked each day if we needed anything!
So close to so many things to see and do. So comfortable to come back to a place that feels like home.
Happy hour at the bar can’t be beat! $5 drinks and small plate and all YUM! The cafe is a little pricier… but very good. The grits cup is like a bowl of heaven with grits cheese egg and bacon! Pastries are pretty good. The restaurant for breakfast was nice and fine, just nothing extraordinary.
The room is beautiful… we had some water leakage from our French doors to the wrought iron patios… but hey… it’s New Orleans baby! Really the only thing we missed was a microwave… because we always ordered too much delicious food ;)
I would stay here in a minute… next time maybe bring the kids… or not!
Thank you Hotel St Marie.
Spent 3 nights at Hotel St. Marie and am glad we did. Rooms are nice size and beds super comfy! All staff we came across were friendly and helpful. Courtyard is lovely with a pool. Can be a short wait for the only elevator during busy times. Location is great. A short walk to Bourbon Street and other must sees. I would definitely stay here again.
Cute, clean rooms, out of this world friendly staff — I’d come back just for how well they treated me the second I walked in the door.
Very nice! The rooms were nice and balcony incredible!
This is now my favorite hotel in New Orleans. Great location. The staff was friendly. Will be staying here again on my next visit.
We've stayed at Hotel St. Marie twice now. Both of our visits have been excellent! The staff is amazing! They were able to help us with everything we needed. The bar and restaurant have great food and drinks at a very good price! And we love that there is now a coffee shop too! We always get a balcony room overlooking the courtyard which is really nicely kept! And the noise from Bourbon Street is hardly noticed! Great location from everything in the French Quarter! We were able to walk everywhere! And very reasonable parking fees. It was great knowing our car was secure during our stay. This is the only hotel we will ever stay at in the French Quarter!
Absolutely loved our stay. The staff here were so lovely, the restaurant had great food. Location is perfect, everything is a quick walk away. And for being so close to bourbon street the noise level wasn’t bad at all. I will definitely go back!
The staff is so friendly and helpful. Rooms are beautiful and so comfy! I have stayed here several times and love this hotel!
Very Friendly place close to night life but yet far enough away where you can get a good nights rest.
Great place. That says it all! and Victoria is a great bartender.
We stayed there a few weeks before Katrina hit. I have no idea what it’s like now because that was 2005. But at the time it was beautiful. The courtyard and the street view rooms were gorgeous. If I remember right we had dinner right in the restaurant.
Hotel St Marie is a beautiful hotel in the Quarter with an awesome staff. We felt like they rolled out a red carpet for us and we were the only guest they had to accommodate! The hotel, rooms, pool etc are very clean! Located a few steps to Bourbon St but you can't here the noise from it. Will always be our hotel when visiting the Quarter!
My son and I spent a long weekend at Hotel St. Marie, and we had a amazing time. Check in and out were a breeze. The rooms were comfortalbe and the pillows oh the pillows. In the heart of everything. Staff were friendly and helpful.
If you want to be in the thick of it, this hotel is just fine! Clean rooms. Great hotel staff. Right in the middle of all the action. Our room was very quiet!
The professional staff was always ready to make our experience there exceptional.
We are visiting this week. Beautiful hotel, wonderful food and friendly staff. But the slamming doors all night is brutal. You really to install slow closing doors.
This is my second trip to New Orleans and we were absolutely happy with our stay. Perfect location, helpful staff, and comfortable rooms. We will definitely stay here again! Highly recommend this beautiful hotel.
Do not trust this hotel. Now that I have read past reviews I see this hotel has a long history of ripping off guests. Here's what happened to me. About a week prior to us leaving for our trip I was concerned that I had not seen a confirmation email from the hotel. I called the hotel and asked them to confirm my reservation for me. Jade in reservations said I didn't have one and the property, in fact all of their properties, were sold out. I told her approximately when I booke…d (August) and had her look under my maiden name and new married name to check all possibilities. I was so worried we would have no place to stay if the whole city was full. Luckily, after about 40 minutes on the phone Jade was able to make accommodations and get me a room. I was so grateful and we had a great stay. Lesson learned for me, if you don't get a confirmation right away call the hotel to make sure. It wasn't until two weeks later I saw an extra charge of $463 Canadian on my credit card. I called the hotel to look into it. I got a call back from Lenny who said I booked two reservations and I was a no show for one so I got the charge since he had to hold the room vacant. I explained the mix up and he did not believe me that I had asked Jade to look under my maiden name. (Of course when I am looking at the possibility of no place to stay I would have looked into every possibility to find that reservation that I was sure I booked.
This was a first time trip for my mother and I and it’s a Beautiful Hotel right off Bourbon street. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The room was very cozy with comfortable beds, a nice shower and a courtyard balcony. The hotel restaurant had delicious food to say the least, Hotel bar had a great happy hour with $5.00 appetizers that were amazing! I really liked that after 10pm you had to have your room key to gain entry back into the hotel. Very safe and hardly any noise at night being so close to the “party”! Price for room was pretty reasonable too. Will definitely stay again @ Hotel St. Marie, if I ever make it back to New Orleans!
Nice hotel a block away from Bourbon street. Very friendly staff offered to help with recommendations and anything we needed, the concierge said would send a bottle of champagne up to our room to celebrate my birthday on our first night, unfortunately it never came, but was still very nice. Enjoyable outdoor patio, whole hotel was quiet and peaceful with good air conditioning. Bed was comfortable although pillows were a little awkward. Amenities for bathroom, closet, drawers, and services including delivering iron was all great. On our next trip to New Orleans we probably won't stay so close to Bourbon street, but the hotel itself was an enjoyable stay.
A group of us get together every August in New Orleans and the St. Marie has become our hotel of choice. The staff is always super helpful and friendly, the rooms are spacious and clean and the location is amazing. The renovations they have done to the rooms have taken an already great hotel into one that is simply wonderful. We were incredibly happy to see that they added mini fridges to the rooms. We had a slight problem with our room on our second night this year and were immediately moved to another room (405) that had a fantastic balcony overlooking the pool area. I can't wait to return next August!
Spectacular hotel! We have been wanting to go to New Orleans for sometime now. This place looked nice online. When we got there, we found that it looks even better first hand. It is simply gorgeous. The court yard is almost surreal. Hotel St. Marie is the nicest looking hotel I've ever stayed in. The service was outstanding and the staff was awesome. I talked with the staff members at the parking valet several times, not to get my car, but for advice on what to do in New Orleans. They have me some great advice and were fun to talk to. The hotel is less than a block from Bourbon street. Close enough to walk to in a minute, but not so close as to have the noise keep you from sleeping.
Absolutely loved it. We got a courtyard room and it was so quiet, comfortable, and clean. Staff was wonderful. The hotel is right in the heart of things and it was so easy to go on strolls and see the sights, hear the sounds. Their food was good too; got room service more than once. We will definitely be back.
My sister and I had a great experience here. The hotel is updated and clean. The front desk staff is amazing — very friendly and welcoming! The location is awesome. Right off of Bourbon Street and within walking distance of everything we wanted to see. Would definitely recommend staying here!
Great location, walking distance to Bourbon st and only 4 blocks from Jackson Square. Hotel parking is 35 plus tax a night. The ac doesn't go below 68. The rooms are nice. Hotel staff is nice and honest. My husband left his wedding band in the room and the housekeeper turned it in. Very thankful for that! Would recommend, and Would stay there again!
I stayed at the Hotel St Marie twice now for Jazz Fest, and had a great stay both times! The hotel is very conveniently located just a block from Bourbon Street in the heart of the French Quarter. The staff were all very friendly and considerate. We also enjoyed dining in the hotel restaurant — great food and a lovely courtyard dining experience. I highly recommend this hotel!
Very clean, and very pretty courtyard. The hotel staff is extremely courteous and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.
The hotel in him — even is really nice. Too bad the reception is not at the same level.
We couldn’t have picked a better hotel! The location is perfect! It’s just a little hop, skip, and a jump to Bourbon street and our courtyard balcony rooms (we had 3) were nice and quiet when it came time to get away from the loud craziness. The rooms were renovated and had lots of room. Yes, there was some construction noise on the morning during the week but not enough to be bothersome. The renovation looked to be almost finished. The staff was kind and accommodating. W…e were a group of all girls celebrating my daughters college graduation. We were a bit needy and loud. We all felt welcome and all neediness was met The brunch at the restaurant was very good! After a late night (early morning) out on the town, it was nice to be able to just go out to the courtyard for a great brunch without having to leave the hotel. Thank you for such a memorable experience. I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Crescent City!
It was nice because it was right off the strip and the staff was extremely helpful and polite. It could've been more modernized but it wasn't bad for the price! We were having so much fun it really didn't matter though!
Very clean hotel.
We love, Hotel St. Marie We've been coming to New Orleans since before our girls were babies. Now 16 and 18. Always stay at Hotel St. Marie. Just love the experience, it's been a couple years. We will be there in May, looking so forward to it. Great location, great staff, and extremely comfortable.
We love Hotel St Marie! We have stayed often and will stay many more times. The newly remolded rooms make it even better! Short walk to all of the best restaurants and attractions. Great staff. Can't say enough positive things about this hotel!
Excellent facilities and location.
I will recommend Hotel St. Marie to anyone wanting the New Orleans experience. Not only is it located in the perfect place but it is just gorgeous. The staff could not have been friendlier. Aaron was on the ball with suggesting sights to see and then booking our reservations to those places such as the awesome swamp tour. I could go on and on. Also Mia is a constant friendly fixture, She must live there, lol Thank You to everyone there for giving us our first wonderful taste of New Orleans.
If I could give more stars, I would. Our room wasn't ready so Aaron put us in a King Suite and then offered to let us keep the Suite, at the same cost, due to the confusion. This was amazing. We staff was amazing, the bar was fantastic. Everyone acted as if they had known you their entire lives! Not only is this now my favorite hotel but I do not see us staying anywhere else and we visit the Quarter a great deal! Thank you for a wonderful experience!
The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful and clean. We really loved the French architecture. The bathroom was up to date and very clean. The room had a balcony on the street side over dauphine. Less than a block from bourbon.
The staff was AWESOME. I love the ambience of the hotel and the location is perfect, just a few steps away from bourbon street and a 10 min walk to French market and Cafe Dumonde. I would recommend a stay there to anyone.
My husband and I stayed 3 nights at Hotel St. Marie, and couldn't be happier with our experience. When we arrived, Aaron the concierge was so friendly. He quickly checked us in and asked us if we have any questions. He recommended some great tours for us to check out, and booked them right there on the spot for us. It was so easy! As a native, he knew all the best tours to take and we were very pleased with them too. He also remembered our names and was very friendly every time we left or came back to the hotel. I definitely recommend booking tours through the concierge if you plan on sightseeing. The hotel also offered to store our luggage on the last day after we had already checked out since our flight wasn't until later in the evening. The hotel itself within walking distance of Bourbon St. And right in the center of all the action on Bourbon St. The rooms were clean, and I didn't think it was too noisy for being so close to Bourbon St.
The staff is so component. They are always willing to help. The rooms are all remolded but still fit with the old charm of the St. Marie Hotel and the French quarter. The courtyard is charming. I would not stay any where else.
The good was delicious! Great, fresh and plump shrimp. Tender steak. Tom the bartender was friendly and fun!
First time in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and we had an amazing time. We were here for 5 night and had a balcony room, the room was perfect and the staff made our stay awesome. Every staff member was helpful and so nice. We definitely found our new favorite city to visit and will be staying here again.
Visited New Orleans for the first time for my 50th birthday. Stayed at Hotel St Marie. Staff was very friendly and helpful suggesting places for us to eat and visit. Rooms were very clean and quiet. We just got home today and can't wait to plan our next trip to return.
Still amazing. We had our wedding here in June and we came back for New Years Eve. This time we’re staying at one of their other locations “French Market Inn” and it is just as nice. We ate at Vacherie last night, because we simply can’t get enough of the food. The staff make you feel like family. My only complaint is we have to drive five hours to get here. Can’t wait for our next trip.
Beautifully done. Very vintage. Some run down things, but I felt that added to the theme of the place. Balcony and set up was gorgeous. Would definitely stay there again!
Charming motel, close to everything. A block off Bourbon so it's great for sleeping. Staff is friendly food is good I'd stay here again.
The hotel has a lot of charm and is very well located. The staff were attentive and welcoming but breakfast is not included as specified in the description. We found a cockroach in the room.
Cute place I found and what I liked most about it is the convenience to the French Quarter. It's literally one block away. Being that it was so close to the French Quarter, we didn't have any issues. The inside of the lobby is very beautiful and with an antique setting. Our stay was a pleasant one and very quiet considering.
I stayed here this week and it was amazing! The service was awesome, the rooms were very nice. I had a balcony overlooking the pool. It was perfect. I highly suggest staying here. I will be back.
Went for drinks and happy hour eats at the bar. They were very good. The bartender Tom gave us some great recommendations, for the food and what to do in the city. We stopped back in the next night and he made me one of the best drinks I've ever had (It was his own secret creation). I'd highly recommend stopping by.
Lovely, pleasant stay. Friendly staff, good clean rooms. Some renovations going on at the moment — we were next door to it and were woken at 7am by the work. Other rooms would have been fine.
The hotel itself is very cute, quiant and clean. It is one of the older hotels so the rooms are a little dated, but still serve their purpose. The staff was great, special shout out to Aaron at the front desk. He was so happy and wonderful to work with. He gave us recommendations and even remembered us every time we walked in, it felt very personable! Overall, I'd stay here again!
It was a great place to stay with the balconies and the garden with the pool have such a nice french feel. The main desk clerks were very nice and helpful. Some renovations going on but not too bothersome. Parking is a little high but that is to be expected in the Quarter. The beds were super comfortable the air was cold.
Beautiful hotel with lots of charm. Perfectly located 1 block from Bourbon St and within walking distance of the whole French Quarter. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
Aaron was an amazing person working the front desk! Definitely made the experience the absolute best it could have because of his knowledge of the area and his charm and kindness. He definitely made this hotel the best on my list, and I have been to a crazy amount of hotels. The rooms were nice, cozy and charming, with the music outside being so smooth and relaxing it made the stay amazing. I can say with pride the pool, being so close to bourbon street, and the amazing staff there I will always place this hotel at the top of my list. And will choosing It for any and all future stays in New Orleans.
DON'T waste your time or your money! The man at the front desk the "manager on duty" was extremely rude. We saw no less than about 6 COCKROACHES in our room during our stay. We were sleeping when housekeeping came by so we asked that she return in about an hour, well she never came back as requested so we had no clean sheets and no clean towels! Then the rude manager hands me sheets and tells me to change the sheets myself! Our room was not clean. This hotel ruined my birthday trip! I also sent an email to the general manager "Tim L. " and have never received a response. Shows how much they are about customers.
This was our first time in NOLA and we loved it our room was very nice and not mention Aaron was so very sweet to us! Even got a little history from the hotel from Loraine (I may be misspelling her name I apologize) she was so sweet! And the bartender as well! We will definitely be back next July! And it's down the street from bourbon! Thank you Aaron and Loraine for making it a great stay!
I've stayed at MANY hotels in NOLA. They all have their issues but I was disappointed by Hotel St. Marie. They weren't up front with the fact that the building was under renovation and 1/2 of the hotel was effectively closed. The attached restaurant/bar was a separate business so room charges were an issue. The amenities were weak. The rooms had no mini fridge and the entire hotel had only 1 ice machine. Unfortunately there were bachelorette parties staying there, which meant PANDEMONIUM at 2am. The pool was the only saving grace for this place. In July it's always nice being able to cool off. Had a great time in NOLA but that was in spite of this place, not because of it. Next time around I'm either doing a 4 or 5 star hotel around the quarter or I'm avoiding the French Quarter all together. Believe me, you can do better.
Beautiful and historic. Our room and very beautiful. The employees and the level of service and excellent. The location and ideal for enjoying the places of the old square.
GREAT HOTEL! I have stared here many many times, and never had a bad stay! Been staying there way back when John Marshall was on the desk! Hotel is old, but everything in the Quarter is old! Hotel is always CLEAN, Great Staff! and well the only other place I would even consider staying while in New Orleans would be their sister hotel, The Place, and then only when I wanted to do some wild partying, (the all night kink) then yes the place, a interior room which during the day the room is pitch dark! HOWEVER! Save yourself some money, I looked at trip Advisor last time I went down and they had the St Marie for $139.00 a night with $35.00 parking, went to the St Marie web page and got the room for $89.00 a night and when I arrived I got 1/2 price parking because I was a good client of the hotel, Every time I have checked, the hotel's web page is ALWAYS CHEAPER than the booking company's and I have tried several of the booking company's! If possible, get the suit room on the right side of the parking garage entrance, 1st floor, like a private apartment, and you can open the blinds and sit in your room and enjoy the street view!
Great location, next to Bourbon Street, and near some great food. Very helpful staff and has a fantastic restaurant inside.
We were able to get reservations at Hotel St. Marie after 5 PM on the day we wanted to stay when we had booked elsewhere and checked in only to find a dump. We quickly cancelled our reservation there and checked to see if we could find accommodations elsewhere. It was such a relief that Hotel St Marie, where we have stayed before, had a room available. The hotel is clean and the staff is incredibly friendly. We got a king bed and it is reasonably comfortable. The view is hit-or-miss; we have a view of other buildings on this stay, but have previously been able to book a room overlooking the beautiful courtyard. The location can't be beat as it's less than a block off of Bourbon Street. We love Hotel St. Marie and will definitely be back!
Had a wonderful 9 day stay at this beautiful hotel. The Hotel St,. Marie is located in the perfect spot of the French Quarter. It is close enough to walk to everything, but just far enough off of Bourbon Street to not here the noise. The rooms and property are just as you see on the website. They are perfectly decorated for the area with that nostalgic feel. The housekeeping staff do a wonderful job of keeping the rooms clean. The staff at the front desk, bellman and valet staff are all wonderful. You could not ask for better customer service. They are friendly, personable, empathetic and truly a pleasure to encounter. The entire staff goes over and above to make sure you enjoy your stay. If you want a great Hotel at a reasonable rate with great staff. The Hotel St. Marie in New Orleans is the hotel for you.
After staying there for the Rihanna concert may 17th, which was a wonderful experience because they have a vanity separate from the bathroom so I could get ready as my friend showered. I left my wallet with my social security card and credit card in, and I was just getting home (which I live 6 hours away) when the hotel notified me. Darlene helped me so much and shipped back my wallet in a rush with no problem. And I have received my wallet with everything in it. Nothing out of place or missing. So glad I stayed in a hotel with trustworthy employees. Will remember this next time I'm booking a room in the French quater.
Good morning. I have sent a few emails and made a few calls to The Hotel St. Marie. I have gotten no final response, my question has been ignored, and I have dealt with the rudest staff. I travel frequently. We stay in New Orleans a lot. This was to be the first time staying with your chain. Needless to say it will be the only time we apparently donate our money to your franchise. I made a reservation for April. There was a family emergency that came up. I called a week in advance. I was treated like a college kid on spring break when I called the hotel. My father had just had hospice called in so I did not and do not appreciate this. The lady I spoke with assured me a call back. I waited and did not get one. It took 2 emails to get a written response stating it would be luck of the dice if I got a refund or could be credited for a future trip. So I waited until the 4 days we were suppose to be there passed and sent a follow up email. Then waited another week and inquired again. I have still not gotten a response. It has been 6 weeks. I would like to say Im shocked by this. However, Im not. This experience has been awful. I understand your a big hotel in a tourist town, but I would think you would value all customers. Especially, corporate customers that would frequent your hotel multiple times in a year. Also, what kind of business does not have compassion for someone losing their father and wipes $1100.00 out with no response to their customer?
The location is great. It's half a block of Bourbon St. You are centrally located in the French Quarter. This is the only place we stay when we visit.
Perfect location for walking around the French Quarter and Bourbon St. Like most hotels in this area, it has lots of "character" and you have to accept that it is a very old building. We were fine with most of the signs of aging but we had a shower which was unusable, a balcony which wouldn't open, and the room description was quite misleading.
My pillow smelled like throw up. And the staff made us uncomfortable with how every question we ask seemed to be such an inconvenience to them. The bathroom didn't have a real door so there was no privacy. And the room was very small. The redheaded bartender was the rudest person I've ever met I ask her if I should Seat myself for breakfast and she went off on me I actually said at the end of the conversation sorry for being such an inconvenience to you. I'm pretty sure the breakfast was premade and the servers were just going back scooping it out and putting it on plates charging people $14 a plate.
Wonderful time. Staff was polite and professionals, room was clean comfortable. I read some of the negative reviews, if there was a problem there, they must have been corrected before my stay. Great location. Can't wait to do it again.
We've stayed at all of the hotels in this Hotel group and the hotel and the staff are all awesome at all locations, but I have so say that the staff at Hotel St Marie are the best! Rooms are always clean, balcony views are picturesque, and the location is central to just about everything in the Quarter. We've stayed there 4 times and it will continue to be our first choice in the future! I've had to cancel reservations before as several of the other reviewers have stated and I didn't get a refund but, as they mention, their policy is clear so consider that when making a reservation… those other folks with the less than flattering comments just have a case of sour grapes… You can't go wrong here!
My family and I have stayed here 3 times over the years and the staff is getting increasingly rude and incompetent! The last 2 times I booked the non-refundable price months in advance online and each time upon arrival there has been some mix up. The last time we booked 2 rooms, one queen bed and the other 2 double beds with a balcony on Toulouse St. But they only had two rooms with double beds and no balcony's! Well after about 30 min. Of me being insistent on balcony rooms we finally got them! Rude uncaring attitudes blamed it on booking online when they had already said they transfer the info themselves! The hotel is OK, cleaning staff needs to learn how to clean a bit better though!
Have stayed here twice already this year and will be returning for a third time in August. Very conveniently located in the middle of the French Quarter. If I had any complaints it would be that there is no type of rewards plan (at least that I am aware of). With my daughter attending Tulane University in NOLA, my family and I may be heading there several times per year.
Wonderful hotel. Would go back (for a 3rd time) in a heartbeat. 1st time was 27 August in 2005 the night before a little event called Hurricane Katrina happened! ). Professional, clean, great staff and great food. And this hotel and I have a history. :-D.
Awesome experience, went there for 4 days to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday everything was top notch. There was even an unexpected chilled bottle of champagne waiting for her on the day of her birthday. That totally blew us away. It's the little things that made this stay great. We'll be back again that's for sure. Its also a block from the action.
Use caution with this hotel (poor customer service). I booked this hotel about a month in advance, along with some other family members. I had an unforeseen financial issue come up (wife's engine seized up costing $3K), so I had to cancel my reservation (the rest of the family still went). We cancelled 10 days before our scheduled reservation date. The date came and went, but I noticed that I was never refunded my money. I called and spoke with them, to which they explained that they do not refund cancelation reservations that are within 14 days of the reservation (unless the room was booked again by someone else). I have stayed in many hotels in New Orleans, and I haven't ever heard of a policy like this one. 10 days in advance is more than adequate for any hotel I have stayed at in New Orleans (24 — 48 hours notice on most). To say the least, I will make a point to avoid this hotel in the future. There are too many friendly and accommodating hotels in New Orleans to have to put up with something like this. So not only did I suffer a $3K financial burden on my wife's vehicle, but I also got another $1K financial burden from the hotel for a vacation that never happened. Classy move Hotel St Marie.
Great location! Steps to Bourbon street, rooms were clean and so were bathrooms. Loved the street view, its a must have.
I had read all the good and (BAD) reviews but after staying 4 nights during mardi gras I DONOT HAVE ANYTHING BAD TO SAY. Everyone we dealt with were nothing but helpful. Would stay there any time. We left shoes in room and they were shipped back in less than a week. Restaurant was very good, ate there several times. Hotel had a few flaws, but being 100+ years old — — — — — — I have stayed in a lot newer one with more problems. Really hope to be able to stay there again.
This hotel has a GREAT location as it is only 2 blocks from Bourbon. We found the front desk staff and security to be very friendly and helpful. They also provided a complimentary bottle of Champagne with a hand-written card since they knew it was our anniversary. Nice touch hotel st. MARIE! The Housekeeping department could use some help. We asked the front desk for additional towels and toilet paper. We received the towels tossed on our bed and no toilet paper. Had to ask a second time for that. Funny thing is I heard someone call down to the front desk for more TP earlier in the day and the front desk apologized because the guest had requested it already and not received it. IF you are someone who has allergies or asthma I would caution staying at this particular hotel. Every night we came into our room and found black spots on the sheets. We couldn't determine if they were from our clothes, luggage etc. The night before we left I realized they were coming from the air vent above our bed. I don't believe the vent or filter had been changed/cleaned in a VERY long time. The carpet was old and stained. The edges had not been vacuumed. The shower water took FOREVER to adjust to a comfortable temperature. Be Careful as it can get Scalding Hot. It could easily burn you. Not all rooms have refrigerators. Our's did. We had family join us at this hotel. They seemed to like their room on the second floor.
Customer service was wonderful. The veiw of the court yard from the balcony was beautiful. The room was nice and clean. All that and less than a block from bourbon street and some great food. U can't beat it.
Horrible hospitality specifically with the front desk, especially from that blob of a woman that sits at the front desk that looks annoyed with life, and treats others as such. Southern hospitality FOH. If I wanted to be treated like I'm in NY I would have stayed in NY. I wasn't greeted but was being dismissed and ignored, even though I booked the best most expensive room in the hotel. I didnt feel like I wanted to be there. She made me feel like they were doing me the favor by 'allowing' me to stay there. Pathetic. I will be spending my money elsewhere.
This hotel has horrible customer service. An emergency came up where I needed to cancel my reservation. I spoke with the manager who was rude and uncompromising. Emergency or not, you will lose money with this hotel if your life gets in the way of the reservation. Worst customer service ever! buyer beware.
We came on a weekday, to avoid SOME of the crowd. I know Bourbon St is pretty much loud and obnoxious 24 hours a day on Friday / Saturday. But, we had some sort of circus or something check in the same night as us, next door. And with these paper thin walls — you could hear everything as if they were in your room with you. It's okay, payback came at 7am when they were good and asleep. The room was ok. Typical 1000 coats of paint on window slats, and interior stucco repairs made 23 different times, cracks here and there. But, the nice clean linens, and super comfy bed made up for this. The ceiling was atrocious in the bathroom. Aside from it being 7ft high, it was already caved in drop ceiling. The bathroom was tiny, but, clean and usable. The door to our room had, no joke, a 2 inch gap at the bottom of it. I could see peoples legs down the hall, if I sat in the chair facing the door. Door threshold, 10 bucks, Home Depot. The staff was just a bunch of drones. They weren't peppy, or welcoming, or warm at all. Just kind of pestered to have to be working in an air conditioned building on a weekday, when they could have some job working outside in 95F heat at 100% humidity. I don't know. If you don't like your job at the desk, start repairing the rooms? The on-site restaurant we ate dinner at one time. We walked in, and there was a 40+ person wedding party in the party room, then us, in the normal side.
I am just returned today from my very first trip to New Orleans. I really enjoyed the hotel overall. I liked the age, the character, and cleanliness. I even got a kick out of the mustiness of the room (I must be a weird traveler lol! ) The courtyard surrounding the pool was lovely, being so close to Bourbon Street was fantastic. We were in walking distance of EVERYthing it seems, or a close shot to everything else. I have seen some complaints about the dated television. I wasn't there to watch TV, but to enjoy the city. It was plenty big enough for a little night time viewing or early morning listening as I wound down or started my day. I would definitely choose this hotel again, when I return to New Orleans.
Perfect location a block off Bourbon St but modest price with more quaint character than the chains. Spacious rooms most with balconies. The Vacherie restaurant in hotel has wonderful local dishes. Enjoyed our three day stay and would choose it again.

We had a great time during our stay. Close enough to walk every where or to catch the streetcar, but just far enough away to be really quiet. The courtyard was beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful.
