The most pleasant 5 day stay we’ve ever had. Comfortable rooms, beautiful scenery! Our view from our balcony was of a beautiful hillside and profile of Mount Rushmore in a distance. Just beautiful at night to see it lit under the stars. The staff were incredible with any needs we had. The complimentary full breakfast was impeccable with something different everyday. The evening fires next to the lounge area are so welcoming and was also a great place to wind down and meet new people enjoying the same travels and sharing their experiences. The lodge is just off the main strip very close to the small town of Keystone and center proximity to everything! Can’t recommend enough! Definitely made lifetime memories there.

Relaxing place to stay and amazing views of the black hills. You can see Mount Rushmore from the balcony and watch deer run around the property. Definitely going to stay here again.

Nice and quiet place just outside of Keystone.

We just had our wedding here and I would highly recommend! The staff was amazing and so helpful with whatever we needed! We worked closely with Jordan. We chose K Bar S because we had a lot of guests flying in and wanted everything in one location so it was perfect! The food, views, lodging and staff were all so perfect!

This is the worst hotel I’ve stayed at in a long time. The scenery is beautiful, but the rooms are small and outdated. DON’T get roll out. My grandson slept on the floor because you can feel every spring on the roll out. They told me the room would sleep 5. It had two Queen size beds and barely enough room for the roll out. We were crammed in there. The shower has no pressure and no cold water. I will definitely not stay there again.

Excellent 8 night stay! Beautiful views! Close to many attractions. Friendly staff! FREE awesome breakfast and a pub onsite.

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area, we had an awesome room, stay, and the staff are great. I would comeback again and again. Very peaceful and even got to bring our fur baby LOVED THIS PLACE :)

Great location right before you get into Keystone. Very friendly staff! Nice spacious rooms not that plush but nice. We had a Forest view which was beautiful when it snowed. Next time will try for a balcony room. Loved the area where you eat breakfast glass windows all around to take in the view. The night it started snowing we went to the lobby where they had a pretty fire going! John gave us uno to play at the nice family sized table in the lobby! Check out the Powder Room down the road for a very nice meal. A surprise find for us was a free museum in Keystone! We are Little House on the Prairie fans! Carrie Ingalls lived in Keystone so lots of the family personal things were on display there. I hope to make a return trip soon and will stay again at the K Bar S Lodge.

K Bar S Lodge offered clean accommodations and friendly staff! And we were so close to the monument! Keystone is a lovely little town to visit as well!

Great customer service! Very clean and kid friendly environment! There mangers are truly a dedicated line of work when it comes to making there Customer satisfied! I would financially give them a five star Rating for Above and beyond! Especially to there manager Jorden! Rocks the name for the hotel and makes things Happen greatly.

A beautiful lodge with great views. You can see Mt. Rushmore from there. We visited in October and it was beautiful. Everyone was helpful and nice.

What a gorgeous place. We got a room on the second story. A private balcony and you can see Mount Rushmore. The room is clean, quite. We stayed cool. It's just perfect. Check in was so easy. He was very friendly helpful. There's a Kurieg in the room.
I f anything needed to be different I would suggest a lamp by the bed with a charging station.

We just spent the weekend there for my cousin’s wedding and it was absolutely beautiful and the staff was very accommodating. The balcony to our room was gorgeous and I loved our view. I am already planning to spend a weekend there with my husband next season!

My family and I had a very enjoyable stay. We found the room comfortable, the staff courteous and the grounds spacious — nice for a 9-year-old to burn off some energy. We highly recommend this place.

Even though we were stranded there for 3 days the end of May, it was a great place to be stranded. Never did see Mt. Rushmore… just a profile from our room. The staff was very accommodating.

The place is beautiful. Love the surroundings and how it is set back away from everything. I want to give a shoutout to the staff. We got in on Sunday and Monday morning I was in such severe pain that they had to call for an ambulance. Paul Davis at the front desk came to our room and was very thoughtful and compassionate reassuring me the ambulance was coming and I would be taken care of. He got me a pillow for my head as I was laying in the floor and a blanket to cover me up. We returned today and when my husband saw him, he asked how I was. Thank you Paul for your all your help!

Great location! Room was nice and bed was comfortable. Only thing I’d recommend is a different arrangement of furniture.

My husband and I could not have chosen a better wedding venue. The natural beauty is only eclipsed by the helpfulness of the staff. A washed out road didn't stop them from bending over backwards to make sure we had the best possible experience for our wedding. They took care of us, our families and friends, and we will be eternally grateful. The location was great for our guests to get out and enjoy the Black Hills (but only after starting with an amazing breakfast at K Bar S), and everyone was happy with their clean rooms with great views. We are so appreciative of everything you did for us! — The Pearsons.

This place has the Lodge feel with comfortable rooms with awesome views. It's location nestled in the Hills makes it a great hideaway with a quaint town within walking distance. Staff was nice clean rooms. Little balcony with a table and chairs. Wildlife everywhere. Lots of things to see in that area. We will go back next year.

What more could you ask for?

A lovely place. We are here for a reunion and are camping nearby but using the facilities. Some of our group are staying here. Great staff and very helpful. No restaurant. They do have a coffee bar.

Nice complex, good breakfast, the bar has a limited choices but they do have a bar on site. There is a hot tub and fire pit. The staff was friendly except for one person at the front desk which made me feel uncomfortable. My wife and I walked in and said "hi" to the guy that checked us in the day before and she yelled in the lobby if we were guest and what was our room number. She is the big white woman that works on the evening shift. It only takes one bad apple to make a hotel look bad and for me to go somewhere else and spend my money. My wife said she could of been nicer about it. I think she was asking because there was a wedding going on and lots of people that were not guest was taking up parking spaces. We had to park in BFE. The complex seems to cater to senior tour buses so I guess if you are not retired you stand out. Tonight they are having a reunion of older people. I don't think it's family friendly or for younger couples and I'm 50 so I guess I'm young.

This place is top notch! We're here for a wedding, and our room is really nice! The free breakfast is the best I've had, and it's so peaceful and beautiful here! I definitely recommend staying here!

THE place to stay when visiting Mt Rushmore. A beautiful property off the main drive in Keystone. This place is perfect for families since they have a large open area to enjoy throwing a frisbee, ball or other fun outdoor activity. There's a gazebo or picnic tables available to enjoy the beautiful Keystone weather. Our room had a view of Mt Rushmore so sitting on the balcony had an added bonus. Eating the full breakfast out on the deck was the start to a perfect day. If your room doesn't have the same view there are lots of areas where you can sit and enjoy the view. Highly recommend this place.

Such a beautiful place! The breakfast was the best! The view is amazing, and this place is very clean and quiet. The only downside was no pool and the Wi-Fi is almost unusable. Such a great price for such an exquisite place!

Hotel room was ok. The fire pit and lodge porch are great. The bar and grill food was not worth the price. Need to bring your own drinks as the bar closes at 8. Location was pretty close to town but not in town so quiet.

K Bar S is a an amazing place to kick back & enjoy the gorgeous property, the luscious land & the amazing view of Mount Rushmore. It is tucked backed in the woods, quiet & quaint. The staff welcomes you with a smile & are extremely friendly & helpful. I highly recommend K Bar S if you are visiting this area. (Little note, if GPS tells you, 'you have arrived', go a little further & you'll see the driveway. )

Staff is great and the view is amazing. However, door cards don’t seem to work, and the air conditioning is quite polar. Rooms get very hot then get cooled to being very cold. Made for a restless night. (Also don’t pay an extra $100.00 to get a room that sees Mt. Rushmore, half of a face a couple miles away isn’t worth the money)

Attended a wedding today. The repast was prime rib. Perfectly done and wonderfully presented. Management and staff are superb. Great choice for the nuptial celebration.

Great location. Beautiful setting nestled below Mount Rushmore. You can see a side view of Washington from the lodge. Excellent breakfast buffet. Hot tubs at each building to unwind at the end of the day. They also have a nice fire pit for guests to enjoy. It is within walking distance to town for shopping, restaurants, and the 1880 train that travels between Keystone and Hill City. We also had dinner at the Powder House Lodge and Inn 1.7 miles away. Excellent dinner would also rate them 5 stars!

Everything was perfect during our stay. The front desk staff is friendly. The room (handicapped accessible) is large and cozy. The grounds are beautiful.

Very clean and tranquil place. Rooms are comfy and the view is spectacular. A part of Mount Rushmore can be seen clearly frombthe lodge.

Secluded, Peaceful and Scenic. Breakfast is OK. Bad Wi-Fi could hardly get any internet. Rooms are clean. Bathroom could be more functional with better bath tub. Very bad placing of hotubs at entrance of the buildings. Laundry service is available. There is also a walking trail up the hill from parking lot. 4 star given for scenic location and only 3 miles to Mt. Rushmore national memorial and Cosmos mystery area is close by. Overall good.

Stayed at K Bar S for a wedding. The staff was wonderful and so helpful, particularly with finding food for our picky toddler. Rooms were clean and comfortable, though the bathroom wasn't wait but enough to fit the pack n' Play so we ended up sharing with our toddler (not ideal for a parent, but it worked out fine). The location was beautiful for the wedding!

I spent 4 nights there towards the end of the 2017 season. You could tell by the empty parking lot that things were winding down, but the staff didn't slow down one bit. Everything was always clean and fresh with a nice complimentary breakfast to start out each morning.

This lodge was GREAT with spectacular views of Mt Rushmore (only about 2 miles away) Breakfast was AWESOME everyday. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful with site seeing options and directions. My trip was in the winter so most of Keystone was already closed for the season. I had 2 drive 20 miles 2 Rapid City 2 get lunch or dinner… the ride was smooth but the scenery was worth the drive down hill!

They really know how to market… We paid extra money for a "view" and our room was on the lower level at the end of the hall by the parking lot door and across from housekeeping. Since it is the peak of the season (that is sarcasm) October 15th, this is this best room? Not happy after a 7 hr drive…

This place is amazing. We Can see the side of Mt Rushmore from our room and we watch deer every evening in front. The staff are great also. We will be back.

My family and I stayed the night at the lodge. It was beautiful;from the decks you can see the profile of George Washington on Mount Rushmore. We had a meal in the restaurant, good hamburgers beautiful scenery. We had breakfast: omelette, sliced ham, muffins and waffles. Short 1/2 mile to Keystone and 3.5 miles to Mt Rushmore. Great place to stay.

Outstanding hotel. If you want to hit the National Park locations it is ideally located. Minutes from Mount Rushmore and an hour or less fro the Badlands, Jewel Cave and Wind Cave as well as the Crazy Horse monument. Food was excellent at the breakfast buffet and the evening bar and grill fulfilled our needs each evening.

We had a lovely time here at my brother-in-law and sister-in-law's wedding! The rooms were great, and the staff was delightful! The venue was beautiful, and you could even see George Washington on Mount Rushmore from here! So cool! Is stay here again, anytime!

Stayed here with a Road Scholar Intergenerational Group. Beautiful setting, friendly staff, good food. We could see Mt. Rushmore (George Washington) from the patio of our room. My teenage nephews got plenty to eat and loved the hot tub.

Nice place with a bit of a lodge feel to it. Everything was clean and the staff was awesome. The pub had some neat twists on traditional dishes and the included breakfast was very good. Good views everywhere and some little Marmot critters that were fun to watch live in the rocks near the parking lot. Overall nice place!

It was mid winter when we visited for a big Shrine Ball. Perfect place to have our little peace of heaven. Nice bedroom accommodations with private patio (with a nice view of the grounds in front and Mt Rushmore), a larger patio and guest social room for chit chat and card playing, a perfect extra room for our hospitality room, a fabulous hot and cold breakfast in a beautiful enclosed gazebo (outside seating too if it was warmer), a great big dinning area for our meal, dancing and entertainment and a very nice area to sit by the fire just out of the loudness of the band for those that wanted to be away from the band but still close enough to enjoy the music less loud. There is a very nice deck and walk way all around the party rooms. It appears to have some nice little hiking trails leading to and from the property. This is a wonderful place to just get away as a couple, family and big social group. The staff were all so helpful, friendly and courteous. First class in my view. I would recommend this to everyone.

We are looking at the venue for a wedding in the future. The staff has been very friendly and helpful throughout the entire process. The venue itself is very beautiful.

We stayed here one night at the end of our tour before flying out of Rapid City. The lobby is very nice with an outdoor deck to sit and relax, taking in the side view of Mount Rushmore. The service is friendly and the rooms are clean. We had two rooms in the main building. One room has a wonderful private deck with a view of the monument and the outdoor public space large (grass area, dining area, large decks and fire pit). The other room right next door was at the end of the building and was more like a cave. It had one small window when you first walk in looking out the side of the building at the parking lot. The rest of the room, although very large, did not have any natural light and thus was very dark. We had a private group dinner there that was pretty good. Breakfast the next morning was lacking. The self-serve, made-to-order waffles were good, the pre-made/microwave cheese omelettes were like they sound, just ok, and the rest of the buffet had been decimated and not restocked. We came to the breakfast buffet just 25 minutes before it was scheduled to close so I think the employees did not want to restock it. There laziness in restocking made the breakfast experience not great.

This resort/lodge is located in a very pretty meadow with a beautiful view of Mt. Rushmore from the south facing rooms and a steep mountain view from the north facing rooms and they offer an exercise room. The grand entrance offers a complete view of the meadow and Mt. Rushmore with a fireplace and a very comfortable deck to enjoy the outdoors. They have a gas firepit that welcomes you to to enjoy the evening and take in the night time mountain air. It sits less than a minute from Keystone and a few minutes from Mt. Rushmore. However, they only offer a continental breakfast that really isn't impressive. Just your typical microwave eggs and meat that varies day to day. Their coffee is OK, they have cereal and make your own waffles. It's not what one would expect from such a classy looking place. They should have a full restaurant or a nicer buffet style restaurant given the nature of this nice place. Our room didn't have a window. It has two skylights where one does open from the roof where you can stand on some stairs and look out, (kind of like a hatch on a ship) and it has a shade whereas the other skylight doesn't open and there's no shade and at daybreak, the morning light WILL wake you up! It is a little pricey for what you get. One would expect a little more for what you pay but all in all, the staff is very friendly and willing to help, the grounds are well manicured and the parking lot is very clean!

When visiting Mount Rushmore this is the place to stay. You can see Mt Rushmore at night from some of the rooms. Their breakfast is top notch with real bacon and eggs, and anything else you may want. Their meeting rooms and event rooms are huge and very nice. It's and impressive place.

Awesome place, very nice people!

There are a couple reasons I am giving this a 2 star, first the view outside of my room window was ruined with the smallest most pitiful American flag I've ever seen before it completely killed the view of Mt Rushmore. If you ever stay here for a wedding or think about having a wedding here remember you have a curfew of 11 o'clock. The reception gets shut down the fire pit goes off, your expected to go back to your rooms.

1st time stay at K Bar S and we could not be happier with our room, the grounds and staff. Beautiful view of Mt Rushmore from our room and the Fireplace sitting area just off the lobby. Our King bed is very comfortable and we have not been disturbed by noise at night. Easy drive to Mt Rushmore, Keystone and Custer.

The K Bar S Lodge is a fortress. I hope to visit soon and invite Sandra Annette Bullock. When I think of Arranged Marriages, I get a rush. The notion of Reich Angles of 90 degrees each bears a box which locks the mountains dew within it's birth of the squared dimension cube. This yields a kilobar or kbar a unit of pressure equal to 1000 bars (kb) 14, 500 pounds per square inch (psi) or 99 973 980.8 pascals which or 100 Newtons. That's a whole lot of pressure for a Taurus Dragon guy like Me whose initials are RAK.

The only reason why this is a three star review is because of the view. Our room, our first was giving to another person, not so much fun when it's midnight and you're lock out of your room only to have a stranger answer the door dazed and confused. I mean the people gave out room to the wrong person, didn't realize it, and made us have to WALK from the far building to the main lobby. Oh and then for two hundred dollars you think you would simply get internet right? Dead wrong. You must be in the lobby to use your internet, which is as slow as trying to wade through thick mud. And the new room we where given, don't get me started, the ac unit rattles, you can't see half the TV because it's below the height of the bed, and the vanity, for some reason is outside the bathroom. Even the switch is on the outside! I mean Yea the balcony is okay but the ac unit is even louder out there! Hell I'd rather stay at a motel 8 than this right now, and the rooms there are probably just the same size as this. Keep in mind this is only my first night! Just because you can see Rushmore doesn't mean you can drive up the price of a two, maybe three star room.

Very clean and well run. Not a lot of small kids so very quite at night. Of course beautiful views of Mt. Rushmore every day.

I stayed at the Kbars lodge with my girlfriend for two nights 10/17/11 and was very impressed. The location is romantic, and minutes away from food and shopping options. The view of MT. Rushmore from our room was amazing. Complimentary breakfast is served every morning, with beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding area as you eat. The Kbars lodge is set conveniently in the center of many attractions, and I would recommend that everyone visit with them when planning to visit the Keystone area. I will definitely be back.
