We loved this adorable motel! The views are amazing, rooms are clean, comfy bed, and the people running it are super sweet and personable. Bonus, your fur babies are welcome! We would love to stay here again in the future!

Very personable staff. It was very clear that they loved and cared for their place and their customers immensely. We had a reservation in another hotel which fell through, but we called Big Sky Lodge and they stayed open late to accommodate for us. Wonderful, wonderful people. The view is great. Although it may be an older place, don't let that dissuade you. The rooms are very clean and well kept. Would absolutely go back.

We were vacationing in SD and found this super nice place to stay! Big sky lodge exceeded our expectations of what our stay would be! From the moment we booked the reservations, jay was great in responding to our calls about their amenities and surrounding sites! When we return to SD, this will be where we will stay. The rooms were clean, efficient, and super convenient laundry service! Our group of 4, all enjoyed the nice breakfast and good coffee. We were on bikes and this lodge was central to all of the bike routes we enjoyed. When we needed anything extra, the friendly staff was very accommodating, which we really appreciated. T The hot tub at night is especially neat as it overlooks Rapid City, WOW! One of the things we enjoyed most was access to the gas grill and picnic area, very very nice!

Very pleasant staff. Friendly. The breakfast is ok. Not a lot of choices. The rooms were cozy, a little dated but clean. It's the week before the rally, so there was tons of bikes, but very little noise. I was pleased with that! They assisted me with my laundry, which is very reasonably priced. I enjoyed my stay for sure!

This is a great place to stay! The view from the picnic area is amazing day and night but the night is fantastic. The rooms were clean and bug free. I had a great breakfast and the coffee was great. I would definitely recommend this Lodge. It was near Mt Rushmore. There is a nice picnic area with a hot tub. Was very happy with the staff, very friendly to everyone.

The hospitality was great. The view is incredible over the city. It is just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city but close enough to all the attractions. The rooms were nice and clean. Our family stayed 6 days here and we loved it.

My husband and I stumbled across this place by accident several summers ago, and now we won't stay anywhere else when we head to the Black Hills! The rooms aren't fancy, but we spend all day on the motorcycle — all we need is a cool and comfy place to sleep. They do hae microwaves and fridges, though, which is so handy! The rooms all have outdoor access, and so there's no hallway noise. The place is relatively small, so it's usually pretty quiet anyway since there aren't a ton of other guests. Breakfast is always more than enough. The owners are fantastic and Jay always goes out of his way to accommodate us. The best part of this place is the outdoor hot tub overlooking the city lights at night! We love it, and we'll be back soon. PS — Jay, tell Connie that we found the tree. She'll know what it means! ;)

We were here over Labor Day weekend 2015 and it was the best place we've ever been! The rooms were exceptionally clean. All of the staff were genuinely friendly and really cared about making your stay pleasant. I don't have a single complaint. I'm going to recommend Big Sky Lodge to anyone I know who will be vacationing in the Rapid area. If you want a wonderful experience, book your stay here. Don't bother looking anywhere else. I know where we'll be staying from now on. Stay great Big Sky Lodge!

Looking for a quiet place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of a big city but near enough to same? Go here, plus the view is is great and the host (Jay) is like a friend. Would stay there again.

My cousin and I stayed at the lodge at the end of May 2015. It was very pleasant. I was attracted by the cleanliness and how accommodating the staff were. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

Kind, helpful, and accomodating owners and staff. They really desire that you enjoy your stay. Fabulous views of city from hot tub. Rooms are older, but have been updated in some ways (and not yet in other ways). There are chairs outside room doors so you can sit out and enjoy the fresh air (or, unfortunately, the cigarrette smoke from other guests down the way). Picnic tables and grills available for use of guests and overlook the city. We recommend the 2-room "suite" with 3 full-sized beds for those who want one bedroom with extra privacy. (Only 1 bathroom in that suite. ) No frills in the rooms, but clean. And the nights are restful.

We stayed here while visiting the Black Hills region, and it was the perfect spot to access everything in the area. It is right in the hear of Rapid City, while at the same time above it all, secluded and quiet. The rooms were neat and clean, and the owners and staff were very friendly, and more than willing to help with planning our day. The Hot Tub offered us an opportunity to recoup in evening, and one night we had the opportunity to watch lightening storm roll across the distant prairie from that Hot Tub. This hotel is worth every penny, and we definitely look forward to coming back again and again.

It's a Motel! The room was about $30! You get what you pay for! But in all seriousness, no complaints. Quaint little room and I think they had a breakfast in the morning, but I had to leave before sampling it. The motel boasts a great view of the city from atop a high point.

I went through the reviews before I booked our stay at the Big Sky Lodge. We stayed for 3 nights and it was perfect for us. The location is convenient to the Black Hills, Devils Tower, and the Badlands. The price was right, the location perfect, and the amenities suited us perfectly. The owners were very helpful and gave us some great pointers on making the most of days touring the area. We plan to go back and for me. The sooner the better.

My sister and I just returned from a 4-week trip and the Big Sky Lodge in Rapid City, SD provided nice freshly-decorated rooms with truly the best mattresses we found anywhere. Also, the motel's owner and manager is friendly and accommodating. They provided a good breakfast, and overall surprisingly excellent experience, great value. We look forward to staying at the Big Sky Lodge again.
