This hotel was amazing. Upon arrival I was told that my regular room at been upgraded free of charge to a suite. There was free beer, wine, soda, and popcorn in the dining room. Breakfast was delicious. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was overly accommodating. We will definitely be staying here again.

Booked this hotel after seeing the great review. Completely worth it. Spacious and clean room. You will feel fresh once you enter the room. Breakfast is great and every night they offer complimentary drink (we missed it since we checked in after 8PM). Very near to down town — walk able from hotel. 30+ min drive from Mt. Rushmore. Highly recommended.

Good price for a room with two queen beds and pool access. Would recommend and stay again.

Nice Hotel, conveniently located near the centre of Rapid City. Very friendly and welcoming staff, a daily social with free beer, wine, sodas, and popcorn and the relatively spacious pool area make the Howard Johnson a great choice for families. Our room (Junior Suite with two King beds) was comfortable and very clean. The beds were great, the surrounding area quiet, and parking space was available. The breakfast buffet was basic, but okay. Overall, a fair offer and a very suitable base for exploring the numerous sights around Rapid City (e. G. Wind Cave, Crazy Horse Monument, or Mt. Rushmore — the latter only 30 minutes away).

Second time staying overnight at this location in under a year. Summer season so prices were raised. Continental breakfast includes a few hot items so more than bread items and cereal. Bummed the price per pet is 20 a night per pet so next time coming through area we will see about other options.

Rooms were clean, and the front desk staff was more than accommodating. Overall pleased.

I stayed here 2 years ago and it was pretty nice. They were pretty nosy about who was staying with me. They wanted the person's ID when they got their key, not just a nickname/password. Very judgy. They turned off our keys a half hour before check out so we couldn't get back in our room or in the parking lot door to load up our car. This year of the two hot tubs only one had 1/2 the jets working. I do want to say the whole place was clean. The swimming pool was warm enough. The self serve breakfast was good.

The hot tub didnt have bubbles and the breakfast hostess harassed me and my son about our service animals. She asked illegal questions and made statements that are not true for service animals. Spoiled our breakfast. The manager the night we got there was nice and so where the rooms. So they get two stars.

This is our favorite hotel in Rapid City, SD. It's location is perfect. However, my husband and I just discovered it is part of the Wyndham Hotel group and because of the Wyndham Group withdrawing its support of the NRA, we are withdrawing our support of the Wyndham hotels. We are NRA members and refuse to do business with any business who has cut ties with the NRA.

Nice hotel. Comfortable beds, pleasant staff, quiet rooms, decent food at the breakfast. I have no problem recommending this hotel to others, and I will definitely stay here again. The only thing I don't like is the fact that the breakfast ends at 9am. When I travel on the weekend, I like to sleep in. If you sleep in here, you miss the breakfast…

Stayed one night during wrestling tournament. Room decent, fridge didn't work, but they sent maintenance to fix it. Overall nice room, and breakfast. Evening front desk guy was very nice.

I was disappointed with the hardness of the bed. If you like a really firm mattress, then this would be the place. This is also right across the street from a high school. Traffic during the week can be interesting. Another issue was the strong scented cleaners they use to maintain the cleanliness of the building. My family was not impressed with the hot breakfast offered, so we went to other local restaurants. On the positive side, the staff were phenomenal. They were friendly and always offered assistance with anything.

Worth getting off the interstate exit a short way. Comfy bed. Ran out of 2 queen rooms, so got 2 kings for same low price. Microwave and fridge, although we didn't need them. No hassle about the dog. Free wine, beer and popcorn. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. What more could you ask?

Very spacious room with mini fridge which was great to refreeze ice packs. Standard continental breakfast with two hot options and large eating area. Would stay again.

Our room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is right next to the civic center, where we attended an event, which was very convenient. The front desk staff was very friendly. It was a good experience overall!

It was not as I expected from the review numbers. It wasn't horrible by any means, but I hoped for more. It is an older hotel and my room had a slight odor and older carpet. Bed was fine. Does have a pool and 2 hot tubs. Not much for eating or shopping within walking distance. Price was good. Stayed there in September 2017.

Front desk staff very friendly and helpful, one of the ladies came to our car to see Wilson our golden doodle. Beds comfy, close to 90 and we were a 5 minute drive from entertainment. We went to Murphy s Pub which had outdoor seating so. We were able to take Wilson with us.

I'm getting paid for this review. However, this was a very nice hotel by all means. The only thing lacking really might have been breakfast, but I'm not much of a breakfast person anyways so take that with a grain of salt. The indoor pool and hot tubs were very nice.

Service and staff were great. Breakfast was good. The room was clean. One bed had a loose spring so it was a little squeaky with every move. Location was close to downtown however the first night our car was broken into and several items stolen. There are security cameras but we were parked in a blind spot. The second night we parked right next to a camera.

These guys saved my life after I neglected to check reviews on another hotel in town! Clean, spacious lobby and rooms. Pool and hot tub are great. We have yet to enjoy breakfast, but there's a complimentary happy hour in the evening which we took advantage of. Kids love the big chair out front. :) Crossing my fingers there's a cancellation for tomorrow night!

The team welcomed us as we entered the hotel for check in, and we were promptly onto our rooms. The roast was good, nothing too fancy. The hotel is pet friendly, so we heard the occasional bark, and jingling of collars and tags. There is a breakfast which while we were visiting consisted of make your own waffle, scrambled eggs, light pastries, cereal, yogurt, milk and juice. There is also a evening reception which consisted of beer and wine but we did not attend. The location of the hotel is great. It's fairly easy to get on and off I90 and also within walking distance to Rapid City's downtown area and a really great park. I would stay here again if in Rapid City.

Great central location and easy to get to off of I90. The room was clean and modern. Shower was good. The included breakfast consisted of a waffle station, eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereals, yogurts, bagels, muffins, and a few other small items. It was very good for holding the family over until a late lunch. In the evening from 6-8pm was a reception that included free beer, wine, or soda, and popcorn. It was a nice place to meet other travelers, talk to the staff, or just unwind from the day. If in the Rapid City area again, I would definitely consider staying here again.
