Beautiful hotel. You can hang out at the huge pool, or hang out in their awesome patio, or one of their oversized rooms.
As a truck driver, this is one of my favorites to stop at (if in the area), I'll even divert from the Des Moines location to come to this one.
Great staff, great rooms.
I have to give a negative: 1st floor ice machine doesn't always work.

We’ve been here since May 9th and have yet to have our room cleaned by housekeeping! We spoke directly to housekeeping the morning of the 10th to clean the room, after the housekeeper removed her earbuds, she rudely responded that she would clean it. She did not! Arrived back later that evening to an uncleaned room. On the 11th our room was not cleaned, again! Went to the front desk to speak to a manager and was told no manager was available. The busiest weekend of the year in Ames and there is no manager, WTH? After speaking with Kailie at the front desk, she did a fantastic job cleaning our room and supplying us with clean towels around 5PM. On May 12th we leave by 10:30am, arrive back to the hotel approximately 5:30pm. Hotel room was not cleaned… again! Paying over $200.00 per night here and the hotel doesn’t have our room cleaned for the third day in a row and no manager around to speak to. We will never stay at another Country Inn and Suites again and will never recommend them. Everyone we know will be warned about the poor service from this hotel chain!

An extra $89.11 charged to my card after I already paid for the room. No one appears to be able to rectify this. 2 calls to them, one to corporate, no results. Basically paid double. I will never stay at another one.

VERY helpful staff, extremely nice, they go out of their way to help. For instance, I needed a conference room for 3-4 people on very short notice, and theirs was already booked. They allowed us to meet in the breakfast area which is normally closed outside of breakfast hours and happy hour. They definitely didn't need to let us do that. Also, happy hour. When you check in they give you a card for a couple free drinks a night for each night you are staying there. Sometimes when I travel I like to go out to eat, but sometimes I just want to grab a beer and relax without having to worry about going anywhere. Neat perk.

We were in room 304. The room was so warm that I asked the frontdesk for some fans and they gave a small one that only ran on a timer. I had to run to Wal-Mart to get a fan at 11:00pm. Then on Saturday morning, I told housekeeping to keep the blinds closed to keep the sun out so we can keep the room cooler. We got back at 5:30 and the room was stifling hot. They opened the blinds, the air conditioning still not fixed, and no other rooms available with the three beds needed. The pool was overly chlorinated that my son broke out in hives, which not only itched but also burned, So we had to run to Walgreens for meds to counteract the effects of the chemicals. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The manager wasn't able to be reached. I was told that I would be called back yesterday at 3. I never received that phone call. I had to call and management still wasn't willing to listen. I'm sorry to say, but $50 off doesn't compensate for two sleepless nights, the money spent on a fan, nor the overall quality of hospitality from the management staff.

Room was clean and spacious. Pool was clean. In a convenient location. Would recommend.

Hotel was easy to get to and clean. Room was comfortable, breakfast could be a little better.

The staff was very friendly! The rooms were big and clean! Breakfast was delicious! Very happy with our stay! The only negative was that there was only three restaurants within a 5 min walk!

Stayed here hoping to relax. Upon entering the lobby area is beautiful. The breakfast area was nice also and that's the reason for the two stars. However I would give 0 stars for my experience. Upon entering the room I thought the updates were nice. I started to notice some pretty gross things though. There were blood stains or some type of brown finger prints on the curtains. There were crumbs all in the front dresser area by the TV. I also got the worst night sleep ever due to the very rock hard bed which I found ironic since there was a picture of rocks by the work desk area. Woke up in the worst pain ever. Not only that but the alarm in the room went off at 3:30 a. M. Causing me to get up and figure out how to turn it off since the alarm is also located by the TV. The most terrible thing was a giant spider visitor. I had my bra hanging up with my clothing on the hangers they provide. Upon putting my bra on a giant spider came flying out and then ran under a chair. At that point I had enough and checked out as soon as I could. The price is decent however would not recommend staying here if you do not like rock hard beds, crumbs, filthy curtains, and spiders. Also woke up with a slight rash on my arm and sinus issues when I was perfectly fine walking in. Horrible experience!

The location is great. It is on the edge of Ames but you can drive less than 5 minutes and be "in" Ames. The rooms are always clean when we stay and the staff is very nice and professional.

Breakfast awesome. Staff okay. Hallway bathroom locked which made it a challenge with a little one.

The staff was so courteous, I thought I had room for Friday and Saturday night, my niece only made mine for Saturday, they were able to get me in and close to the other 5 family rooms that night! Nice breakfast, loved hanging out by pool and then later in comfy lobby. Great hotel for family time.

Loved this Hotel! Great sized rooms and an amazing pool, this pool was great because it was the perfect temperature! The hot tub was great too! Perfect size!

It was good but exept there was hairs in my bed. Ewwwww.

Not updated and had several bugs. My roommate believes there is mold in the room somewhere. She had a horrible cough, sinus issues and a rash. We had a cricket or a spider in our room every day. The lobby is updated but the rooms aren't. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great hotel. Very clean lobby and prefect meeting space. I was there for a work meeting. The price was great and service from the staff was exceptional. We will come back for future meetings.

Enjoyed the Happy Hour, and the hot tub was nice and warm. Comfy bed… Can't ask for much more!

We have hosted 2 beauty pageants at this property. Facilities and staff are exceptional! So glad to have found a home venue for our events as wonderful as this one!

The staff is nice, but the facility is tired and needs updating. Our room had a musty smell. We'll stay at the new Hampton nearby next time.

The breakfast items never ran out and the hours were good. The beds weren't hard and neither was the pull out bed. This place was very nice and I would visit again.

I would not stay here again. It was during a game weekend but it was crazy mental with parents hanging around outside the lobby, until at least 1:30am while kids ran loose around the hotel. Lack of supervision of that many kids in the pool is so dangerous also. Trying to take younger kids in the pool with teens running rampent around and diving into the pool was an accident waiting to happen. The floors were soaking in the lobby constantly and there were no extra staff to clean up the mess and stay on top of it so the member of staff in the lobby shut the elevator down. Not great when you have a disabled husband with very bad legs. Our room was also filthy, and the carpets looked like they hadn't been washed since the place opened. $234 for a room with 2 queen beds, and 1 TV with small bathroom was not worth it either. Thanks for the experience but it will be our last time there.

Outside fire the best, the outside bar should last longer, nice pool and hot tub.

Room was clean and nice. Fresh paint was going on the walls as it seems they were repainting the hallways near the stairs. The elevator was closed so we had to use the stairs. Luckily we were only staying for one night so luggage was light. Complimentary cookies in the lobby was empty every tune I walked passed it. Free breakfast was good and fresh.

We always have a good experience when we stay here. We usually rent a room twice a year, and have always been pleased.

We really enjoy being able to use the pool even if we aren't staying at the hotel. As a long time resident of Ames, this has been an activity I've been able to enjoy since I was a kid, and continue to be able to do with my kids today :)

It was overall very cozy, they had a nice pool and spa albeit the pool was a little smaller but that isn't a big deal. Pool was Luke warm so it was a please surprise that it wasn't freezing cold. The beds were kind of small as was the room itself, but again pretty cozy. Lots of complimentary items ranging from breakfast to snacks and hot tea. Overall it was a great hotel.

Super nice staff, the lobby had been recently remodeled and looked great, but I wasn't a fan of how far away my room was from the elevator. Seemed like the elevator isn't centrally located in the building, perhaps. Floor in the hallways was super creaky and loud. Great breakfast service, overall a pretty decent stay.

It has been great, the pool is open until midnight, and the breakfast was above average. The rooms are wonderful and the beds are very comfortable. The staff has been very helpful and considerate.

The country inn and suites I stayed at was very well kept with clean rooms and bathrooms, they took care of our group and made us feel welcomed. The staff I did interact with were friendly and knowledgeable.

Nice, clean and friendly. Kids loved the pool and hot tub. Host in breakfast room was very friendly and helped us serve the kids and there were tons of choices for them.

The newly renovated hotel lobby was nice. The pool was big and had a huge spa. The rooms were clean and had a lot of amenities. I would come back again.

Here is our last night on our journey to our home Up North. We had a wonderful time all the way. The Country Inn is great place to stay, clean and has a lot of amenities, the ladies running front desk, are very pleasant and very accommodating. Highly recommended only if you won't ask for price. Lol. Man with different name. Ha, ha, ha…

We always have a wonderful experience when we stay here. Staff at front desk are very nice. Pool is always clean and WARM. Workout room was clean and kept up very well. Breakfast is good and the breakfast staff is very friendly — Mimi you're the best. Met Karen in housekeeping and she too was wonderful. Lee, Adam & Raveena do a wonderful job! We booked a block of rooms here for our wedding and had a pretty good experience. The entry area was really nice and was a great place for our guests to catch up with each other, and they offered free coffee, water, and cookies all day long. The staff was pretty nice, but not phenomenal. Sometimes it took awhile to get their attention, but they were always helpful once they were working with you. The pool and exercise room was nice and loved by our guests. The free breakfast was pretty good, although the eggs were ridiculously overcooked and pretty gross. Otherwise, the spread of hot and cold food options was really great. The rooms themselves were wonderful. They were modern and clean and the beds were plush and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel employee double charged my card. Requested refunded to my account Friday by midnight. Then call back Monday to get it was non refundable but was refunded. Upon calling corporate then told me that they documented the conversion if any legal action is taken. Worst customer experience. Used to be a very loyal country inn and suites customer. Having stayed at over 200 hotels never had this problem.

Didn't have anything gluten-free at their free breakfast on Saturday, but it was free for those who can eat that.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights during our son's wedding. From the time we checked in until our departure, every member of the staff was awesome. After the wedding, we arrived with all the wedding gifts and the staff was very accommodating, helping us to ensure the gifts were safely locked in the banquet room where the bride and groom would open them the next day. The beds were awesome, the pillows were awesome, and everything was clean and fresh. The hallways were clean and the hotel was clean inside and out. We had an awesome view of a small pond which was full of dozens of geese. The rooms were quiet and tranquil. The breakfast buffet included things like waffles, yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal, biscuits and gravy, eggs, tater tots, donuts, several kinds of juice, milk, coffee and more! I just can't say enough about the staff. They called our room shortly after our arrival to make sure everything met with our satisfaction. I will definitely stay here again.

Not very handicap accessible, front doors do not open automatically, Hotel lobby and hallways and elevator had no air-conditioning, stiffling hot. In room, sink was plugged and very slow to drain. Radio was missing battery cover. Bedside table lamps not very accessible from bed. Bed was very hard. Air-conditioning/ventilation was hard to regulate, it was either hot or cold in room. My handicapped accessible room was furthest room possible from elevator on third floor. I won't be staying in this hotel again.
