Great / friendly environment.

Clean and comfortable, quiet at night. Wish the air conditioner had fan on continuously to aid in sleeping better.

This is a very friendly place to both people and animals. They still have a separate wing of the lodge that is smoking rooms. The rooms all have microwaves and refrigerators, heat lamps in the bathrooms and cable TV. Very easy to access off of HWY 30.

Stayed in the honeymoon suite with my now wife. Had a great stay for the price. We were exhausted after the wedding and it was a great place to crash.

Clean rooms and pleasant staff. Stayed there 6 nights. Bathroom isn't ventilated well and 1st floor can hear 2nd floor footsteps but would definitely stay again.

Clean hotel. Wi-Fi isn't the best. Nice and affordable when working in the area.

Stayed 4 days. And loved it. The employees were awesome and friendly. They took care of my room. The room was clean and nice! I have saved this location. I will be back again!

I was denied a refund from the manager Bansri after my son was in the emergency room and I was told to bring him home. I cancelled the room over 24 hours before and they still charged me $179.00. After 12 hours of driving. Never ever again will I book there. And I have a ton of more trips to Ames left to take.

Old, not very clean and after a nine hour day in the car all I wanted was a nice hot bath to soothe my painful, stiff back. Went to fill the tub and no stopper! I asked at the desk if he had a suggestion or if we could switch rooms but he shrugged and said "all the tubs are like that. Just cover the drain with a face cloth. Really?! Tried it, but the wet cloth just floats up. No apology, no nothing. Won't stay here again.

Stayed 3 nights. Motel is tired, hallways smell a bit of smoke and needs remodeling. Beds were not great, but everything was clean, TV worked fine, bathroom was functional and plenty of hot water. Lots of road noise but with a/c on I could sleep. Staff was friendly and breakfast offered many choices and was good. For the $ and location, I would stay again.

They don't shown concern for customer safety — I slipped and fell on ice at night in their parking lot and there was no signs of notification nor did they do anything to remove the ice. Prices are higher than booking through a website. Also, when I visited, the clerk was not very friendly or helpful. There is no elevator to get to the second floor.

Rooms are neat and clean and up to date or more than some other places. Wifi worked great but TV did not. While it worked it was a pain as not all the channels were programmed in and so you had to manually enter the channel number which also must have changed recently or something as the little guide they provide yuu had multiple options for the channels but only one worked at best. Beds were comfortable and sheets were acceptable even if they were a little in the light side. Also on the nightstsnd the lamp had outlets for phone charging but they were very loose and felt like the charger could fall out at any minute, it didn't though but still should be checked out. Overall it was fine even if there were some little annoying things.

It was good, an elevator would have been nice. The room was nice and clean very comfortable. The employee's were friendly and knew their job.

Small rooms, shower took so long to warm up, I thought we didn't have got water at all. Almost gave up on the idea of taking one. Cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Surprised to see such a nice Econo Lodge. Room was perfectly clean & new! Also the best priced room available on my trip.

Econo-Lodge Ames, an affordable hotel is by far the most accommodating place for birthday parties, pool parties and the like. Very clean. For my child's birthday party, they reserved a large breakfast nook that had doors to close the noise in, a pool that was reserved just for my party. VERY AFFORDABLE at $80 for 4 hours, $60 for 2 hours.   I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants amazing service, clean and the affordability. The management takes real pride in customer service.

I gave it five stars because what I got for lowest price in town (two years running). Both years I have had issues with check in but both years a solution was found. It was my issue but they worked with me. They do have their moments though such as last year when they put a person with a cane on the second year because they paid such a low price at a web site but I have never had any problems and I am pretty sure if that person had pushed the issue they would have given them a first floor room. What I have observed this hotel is used by a lot of companies with traveling field workers and those chasing a new life. This is not a new thing I know someone who still remembers the hotel as a refuge when they came to this town years ago. So, this cheap price is not a new thing and it helped a lot of people. I have not been there during the weekends but I have not any problems with noise or security. This is pet friendly. Rooms look old but the furnishing are nice. The beds are really comfortable. The TV is nice and there are a lot of station available. There is a simple table in the room so you can do set up a computer and still have enough room to write. There is also plenty of light in the room and an iron with board is available from the front desk. They have fixed there issue with the Wi Fi just remember to disconnect and connect each time you use it. The sink is great and the hot water comes on fast. You do hear the water in the pipes. Breakfast is good nothing special.

Although the staff is friendly and helpfull, the rooms are dirty. They also raise their prices more than double when ISU has something going on.

It is an older hotel and the rooms show it. The staff was friendly, the breakfast was about the same as an average hotel, and it was relatively clean. The water pressure in the shower was great.

Started off really bad. We had booked a non — smoking, pet friendly, room with two queen size beds. When we arrived, we we're given a room with one king size bed that smoking was allowed in and was not pet friendly. After speaking up numerous times, they finally worked it out to give us what we wanted, so things did get better. It just shouldn't have started off the way it did.

We were given an "upgrade" to a king room, but the bed and pillows were both extremely uncomfortable. You could feel every spring through the mattress. Another gripe would be the lack of an iron/ironing board, was very inconvenient as we were in town for a formal event. The only reason my rating isn't lower — the price was reasonable, and the room was clean.

Hotel was OK. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fairly well stocked. The room we stayed in had a slight smell of "not fresh", but was otherwise clean.

Room was great only complaint was the AC was running on high when we got into our room so it was cooler. So we just shut off the AC and for a while and all was fine. Staff as usual were fine. Rooms are fine all I care about is having a bed and a TV so I am not that picky.

Excellent stay, everything was great, including the breakfast. Room was free from any defects and the check-in was smooth. Special kudos to Landon at the front desk, was professional and very helpful, even helped me with a computer glitch. Will definitely stay again.

When I booked the hotel only a pet-friendly room was available. I preferred staying in one that had not had animals in it. The WONDERFUL lady at the front desk said that she would switch this if a room became available. Before we checked in she had already done this. Thank you so much! I really appreciated it. The breakfast in the morning was good. Sausage/Gravy, Waffles, Hard Boiled Eggs, Yogurt, Cereal, and Donuts.

Overall happy with the staff and service and cleanliness of the room. I give 2 stars because of the price of the room. I paid double what the normal rate was and didn't get a discount on a wedding block. Almost every other hotel is willing to give a discounted rate for wedding blocks but this particular hotel does not. Again the service was great and the rooms were clean, but pricing and the willingness to work with customers on room rates and booking a room is not good and feel like I was way overcharged for the room, double the going rate for that room.

Booked a nonsmoking room. Two queens with a pullout bed. Told that I would get the AAA discount when I checked in and presented my card. Upon check in I was told sorry can't give me the AAA discount (which they did anyways after some talking) then gave us a smoking room with 2 beds. I told them I requested a non smoking room and paid the higher price for the non smoking room. When I called to book they had a smoking or a non smoking for more — I opted for the non smoking for more and ended up getting the smoking room for more instead : (. Then the lady at the front desk gave me a bottle of Febreeze — said she can't do anything about the smoking room. Thanks!

Wasn't able to pick up load for another day so call and got great cdl rate manger was super friendly. Would definitely recommend for other truck drivers.

The location is very quiet and the room is ok. The cleaning crew might be in hurry when they cleaned the room because I found used towel on the hook behind the bathroom door.

Slight smoke smell in lounge area by vending machines but overall, a great stay with no complaints. Courteous staff.

Hallways look dated but rooms and bathrooms were updated and clean. Pool was under renovation and being updated. We were pleased with our stay. Staff at front counter were nice and pleasant. No complaints here.

We had a very good experience starting from the amazing customer from the front desk clerk Marco. The rooms were clean. They had a very nice ambiance. The pool room was extremely well kept. Well worth the money that we spent on the room which is decent priced. We will definitely be going back here in the future.

Fair price for a typical budget hotel. Nothing fancy and the rooms could do with an update. Horribly slow Wi-Fi; do not count on it.

The price was decent and the rooms were clean for the price but the competency of the staff is lacking. Thus the three star rating.

I got a King room for $72 and it was very spacious. Very comfortable bed, friendly check in and out. I choose hotels for their pools to exercise and this pool was warm and lovely. There was some slimey stuff, I found out from the front desk it may be algea, sleeved me out a bit but didn't deter me from swimming close to an hour. The pool definitely needs some work and updating, but would not stop me from hopping in another time. Overall good experience, I'd definitely return.
