We got a Groupon deal for this hotel and our stay was great. The front desk staff was very nice and got us into our room early. The room was fine — clean, had a fridge, microwave, and toaster oven. The hotel is right on the beach so the location is great.

Great hotel, perfect view and clean room! House keeping was amazing. We had to cut our vacation early due to a sick child but we will definitely come back next year!

Fantastic experience for the whole family. This location has been redecorated and offers comfortable accommodation with a sleek look. Friendly staff. Great location away from the "Spring Break" atmosphere of the South boardwalk while maintaining close proximity to all the amenities. Oceanfront rooms provide a spectacular view and easy access to the pool. Satellite Cafe is conveniently located right next to the pool and offers a great variety of breakfast and lunch 7am-3pm. Staff and food was great all week.

Didn't even go yet but they say they are pet friendly. Well my son wanted to take his 3 lb yorkshire terrier. I called they said there was a 100 dollar non refundable fee. 2 days later my husband gets a email saying to call about the dog. They tell him that we have to have pool side room in order to bring the dog. We say okay. Then they tell use there is no more pool side rooms left. So here were are a non refundable room that cost 715.00 for 2 nights and have to find someone to watch the dog. They should put somewhere on their website the rules about bringing a dog before someone makes reservation. I'm very disappointed in the hotel chain and didn't even have my weekend vacation and I can't even get my money back 2 months in advance notice. It's only June 14 and I'm not going till August 17. I won't stay there again and I will tell everyone I know not to either. Only going so that I don't miss out on my $715.00

The location is great, the pool is big and nice little cafe one the first floor. The inly thing I didn't like is that the beds and pillows are super hard.

Nice hotel. Clean but our room smelled alittle like wet dog. I believe you can have pets with you only because I seen a few people with there dogs on the premises. Beds were not too bad… ive slept on way worse beds. Had a medium size mini fridge, sink and a huge toaster oven. Bathroom was clean. You can smoke on the balcony only which is a huge plus! I hate going to hotels and not being able to enjoy a cig with my coffee or drink while viewing the ocean. Front staff were very nice and courteous. Will def return again when we come back.

Ive stayed here multiple times, but my Husband and I just recently came for our honeymoon and had a amazing time. This hotel is very clean and they have excellent customer service.

Everything was fairly good. Maids were rather abrupt and rude. But ocean view and nice room.

Very cheap n nice hotel rooms n a nice get away stores malls restaurants everything u need… N don't forget the beach out at ocean City… Starting rates from 240 up to 380 for three nights.

My boyfriend and I stood on an oceanfront 1st floor bedroom for two nights during labor day weekend. Even when we encountered a negative experience with one of their staffs, we can't judge ALL as ONE. Overall, we had a good experience and especially when the manager, DAN, handled the situation perfectly. LIKE A REAL BOSS! The view from the room was breath taking. The room wasn't big but it was well equipped (microwave, coffee maker, ironing table, sink, small fridge, cups, plates, utensils, etc). A little renovation might be needed but what mattered to us was the cleanliness of this place. Most of the staff were kind, friendly and welcoming. There is also a 5 ft pool outdoors. A lot of restaurants and places to visit in the area. This hotel is in a great location, what better than the boardwalk? Watching the sunset from our room was just beautiful ☺. Thank you DAN for your professionalism and great values!

I liked this hotel because of the great view. The rooms and bathrooms are small. Great service. Everyone is friendly. Many good places to eat and hang out with family, friends and also by your self. It does need a bit improvement with the room size. Other than that it is a very good hotel.

We had a great stay at the Howard Johnsons on 24th. Couldn't get better, being right on the boardwalk and overlooking the ocean. Rooms were spacious and clean. Beds super comfortable. Pool was cleaned every morning. Nice restaurant on premises. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The manager, Dan, was always happy to help with whatever you needed. Highly recommend!

Location is great! The Staff is very professional and kind! Had an issue with our fridge and within minutes the tech was repairing it! Awesome experience thus far.

A/C was either too cold or not cool enough and one room had no air. Bring cookware. They only have plates and basic utensils. The restaurant breakfast is good. Do carry out more comfortable.

Although the bathroom was a bit small, I would stay here again. Access to the boardwalk and beach are perfect from this hotel. The view of the ocean from room 414 and 415 is wonderful. The staff is very nice and helpful. We were in town for a basketball tournament. It was perfect for the boys to access the beach and have fun on the Boardwalk.

My sister, her boyfriend and I are college-educated, working professionals who live out of town. On Friday, July 1, 2016, we arrived at the Howard Johnson Oceanfront Inn, 2401 Atlantic Ave, Ocean City, MD, for a long fourth of July weekend. We arrived early with the intention of barhopping along the boardwalk but since it was raining upon our arrival we opted to hang around the lobby until our room was ready. We chatted with the lady at the front desk who was so kind and patience as she answered the many questions we had about the area. When our room, 511, was ready, we immediately took the one elevator on the premises to our floor — the one elevator did not hinder us at all during our stay. As we walked to our room all we could smell was cleaning products and fresh linens as we passed the open doors of the rooms where housekeeping staff was working. All of the hotel attendants were falling over themselves to assist us in any way they could. Our housekeeping attendant was a young lady by the name of Courtney who was stellar at keeping us supplied with whatever we needed. We had a two bedroom suite and although the hotel is not fancy, our room was extremely clean, with fresh sheets, bedspreads and bath towels. We had one full bathroom and a half bathroom, both of which looked new and was very, very clean. The kitchen countertops, cabinets and microwave look relatively new and was very clean.

We reserved and payed in full amount two months before we arrived so we arrive we walk in everything is smooth they give us the card number 303 we walk in and WAS DISSAPOINTED! we booked two bedrooms and 4 beds so basically two beds per room! So what they gave us was just two beds in one room WOW so we leave and are waiting on the elevator and then we see a tall black maintenance guy with glasses and he asks us if we are lost or need help and we told him no we are fine we just got the wrong room and we told him four beds and two rooms all together in one suite he said we don't have nothing here that has two rooms all the hotels are just one bedroom so in our mind we were like wow! False advertising we get to the office and explain to them and they tell us the same thing the maintenance guy said so we request to talk to the manager he came in and SAID THE SAME THING!

Great hotel quite, away from busy part of boardwalk. Great staff. Clean rooms. No free breakfast. Toilet paper wasn't fully stocked when checked in and doors don't look like they close properly and lock securly.

Everything went well but we had a few issues in terms of getting the Wi-Fi to work. The guy at the front desk was, by far, the friendliest human being I've ever met though!

The location of this hotel is perfect. Walking distance to many things-to-do and places to eat. We didn't have room service so I can't review that. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even upgraded our room to an oceanview room for no charge. The room itself could definitely use a sprucing up. The sheets are a little old. The bathroom could use a redo. An overall paint job and deep cleaning would go a long way here. I don't know if we'd stay here again with tons of other options in the same area.

Not bad for the money. Alot of places to eat and explore. We are right on the beach. The strip goes on for miles!. Will definitely be making a trip back here in the near future.

Where do I begin? Ah … let's just start off with this has to be a pretty bad hotel for the price but this hotel also does have it qualities, though very few. Shall we begin? Pros =============== Only one Pro here which means that unless you want to continue reading to see how much I hate this hotel, please don't come to this one. Go to some nicer hotel on the Boardwalk or better yet, consider renting an Apartment for your stay. Probably allot better. The Staff — This is like the ONLY good thing about this place. They're nice and are willing to help you out with anything you need. They even fixed a doorknob on someone else's door which means they feel sad they got to work for this crappy shithole of a hotel. I mean, I would help to if I worked in a Junkyard to. Cons ============== Great … the onslaught of the Cons. Let's see how many I can make because really, this hotel sucks balls except for the staff. They're the only thing keeping this hotel on it's feet. The Lobby — It actually looked nice and quite modern. Maybe even a bit fancy but it's all just a gimmick. A gimmick to scam you out of your money. The Living Space — At first when you walk in, you don't notice anything out of the ordinary till' you turn on the TV or the Horrible Wi-Fi. Might I say, the resolution on their flat-screens are messed up & I can't access their Wi-Fi on Firefox or Chrome because it makes my browsers crash. I am literally forced to use IE for this review since it stinks so horribly.

Rooms are tiny and outdated… Bathrooms are very small… The Elevator has no air flow and it cooks like a microwave in the afternoon… We booked a delux room 6 weeks ago and when we arrived they tried putting us in one of their economy rooms but when we pointed out the "mistake" they put us in a premium room… The only nice things about this hotel are the swimming pool and the view of the ocean if you are lucky enough to get a view of the ocean like we were… The Wi-Fi sucked as it barely worked… We will not be staying here again.

Positive: right on the beach with beautiful view of boardwalk and ocean. Price was very reasonable. Plenty of free parking. Negative: Elevator was out of service. My room was dusty, smelly and stale and the sheets were not clean. You get what you pay for. Bring your own sheets and cleaner.

My boyfriend and I stayed here from the 30th of June to the 2nd of July. Everthing was nice for the most part. Better than I honestly expected. We put the do not disturb sign on the door so that we could sleep in the first morning and where happy to find that they still left us a fresh bag of towels on our door. We loved being on the bottom floor with a beautiful view of the ocean and easy access to the boardwalk. The only thing that honestly bothered me was on the wall between the bathroom and room was a wood pannel that covered all the pipes from the bathroom. It wasn't screwed in properly and It kept falling out of place exposing the pipes (It didn't smell to pleasant) bad musty smell. Other than that the pool was good and our stay was nice. Would stay here again but am also curious about other hotels.

Booked a room here at the last minute and was happy right up until the time we found bed bugs in our room! Then even though it was pouring down rain and 11:30 at night, was told the night manager could not refund my money but I would have to wait until 9:00 the next morning for the day manager to come in. Needless to say, I was less than thrilled. They did offer to put us in another room but I was not comfortable with that so we left and stayed at the Holiday Inn. I was told no previous guests had reported a problem but I find that hard to believe as it was pretty obvious there was an infestation. Once they started coming out, they were everywhere.

In the past I have stayed at some low priced hotels, but this one takes the cake! We arrived on the 9th and checked in, all seemed ok, front desk staff was nice, rooms smelled good, overall rooms seemed acceptable. After a short while we found that the AC unit in our room was not doing any better then blowing barely cool air, even with the unit set to its lowest setting We were lucky to feel comfortable. Lucky the weather was cool. Next we found that the floor was unbelievable dirty, we found this by walking around in socks only to find them black from the dirty carpet. My wife found many bug bits on here legs and bottom from what we believe to be bed bugs. The next day (Thursday 2:30 pm) we laid down our 3 year old for an afternoon nap we were startled when the fire alarm went off. After a period of time the alarm was silenced and returned to our room. The next day (Friday 8:30 am) we again were startled when the fire alarm went off. After a period of time the alarm was silenced and we returned to our rooms, but this was only the beginning. At 12:30 am on Saturday we again now for the 3rd time have been startled by the alarm this time while we were sleeping. Everyone was told to leave there rooms and go down stairs by the police. After the fire dept cleared it for us to return to our rooms everyone returned to there rooms. Now everyone is starting to drop off to sleep when guess what the fire alarm went off again, this time it is just past 1:00 am.

First, there were some positives — the hotel is right on the Boardwalk, at the end, which was quiet and we liked that. But, online their amenities state "indoor pool" and "fitness center" on Orbiz. There were NEITHER! The front desk told us the other HJ down the road had both and we could use them. They didn't — they only had the indoor pool. Common areas were not clean. Room cleanliness was okay, but the shower fixtures didn't look like they had been scrubbed. On our first day, housekeeping took all of our dirty facecloths and hand towels but didn't replace them. HELLO! Also, they didn't leave extra TP. We had to call them to bring all these up to us! Our toilet clogged and we told them as we left for the day one day. Thinking, of course, they would unclog it for us. We came back that evening to a plunger sitting outside of our door! WHAT? When we checked out they didn't even ask how our stay was. I guess they don't care. They would have gotten an ear full. I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all.

We stayed in a room for 2 days. It took us 1 hour to check in and 45 minutes to check out. The receptionists were pleasant but unable to use the computer program. We asked to see two oceanfront rooms, one being an upgrade. We were shown a sideview room and a oceanfront room but were told we could not book the ocean front room. We then asked to see a room that we would be able to book and were shown a room on the floor where there were parties. Back to the desk we went and were then given a room that was already occupied. Back we went again and were told that if we didn't take the room on the floor with the party then there was none we could take. The hotel was practically empty but we took the room because we were tired. The rate on the printout did not match the rate she quoated us, she said the AAA discount would be given at checkout. When asked if we wanted to use the safe we said no (there is an extra charge for this) Another couple were having the same trouble, they also gave up and took a room. The room was adequate but could have been cleaner. At check out we asked to be given an extra half hour as we had not finished eating, it was reluctantly given along with a stern comment that checkout was 11 AM. At 11:30 we checked out and the room rate was still incorrect and we were charged extra for the use of the room safe for three days. The manager was called and then we were told we could not have the discount because it was not given at check in.
