Review of Coombs Inn & Suites 4*

My wife and I stayed a night there for our anniversary. When I called and made reservations I caught them at breakfast time. Even though I could tell the young lady was a bit harried, she was very pleasant and helpful. Patience paid off because she was able to get me a room in the main house. She was also very helpful as we needed to check in a little early. When we arrived, a different lady greeted us and was also very pleasant and helpful. We arrived before the maid was done with our room, but she checked us in, gave us our key and after a short walk around town we were able to go right in. The room was wonderful. Clean, and cozy without being cramped. This particular room had a shower that I think was under a staircase, so someone taller than my 5’10” might want to pass on room 4. As it stood, the bathroom was excellent with clean towels and plenty of t. P. The charm of this place is the over 100year old house. There are creaks, and squeaks, and you will hear the people above you moving around, but I didn’t find it invasive at all. After a good nights sleep we went for breakfast. This would be our only area where they could use some tweaking. We weren’t sure what to do. We finally found the young lady in the kitchen and realized that we place our order with her. With that out of the way, breakfast was quite tasty and very fresh. The kid in me wishes they had Applejacks as a cereal option, but that’s a personal preference. I think they could have instructions for breakfast posted somewhere, or maybe hire one extra person for the morning rush so guests aren’t waiting for someone to come from the kitchen. But all the staff was pleasant and helpful. Check out was painless, and we left with a great experience and memories to cherish. The only thing I would consider a con is the staff smoking outside the guest rooms. Maybe a separate area for staff to smoke would be in order. All in all my wife and I are already looking forward to our next stay at this wonderful, historic and charming Bed and Breakfast.
