This is a great location, location, location. The rooms do need a bit of work (that's why 4/5 stars. ) Being able to park and walk across the street was great. Breakfast was typical waffles, yougert, eggs, juice, coffee. Etc.

Beech Front view. Very clean. Great breakfast area. Great food spent couple nights there. And yes I highly recommend this place.

Lovely place but not so much of a friendly community. My car was broken into the last night of my visit. Definitely will not be staying at this hotel again.

We arrived and upgraded to a sea view room at extra cost. The manager is very quiet but helpful enough. The room was ample and had all the basic amenities but the highlight was definitely the terrace with a great view of the boardwalk. There was an unsavory aroma coming from the drains in the bathroom but as long as you kept the door closed, it wasn't really noticeable. The hotel has a hot tub which is a really nice temperature. Breakfast is basic but definitely enough to get your day started. It consists of boiled eggs, toast, cereal, pastries, waffled, yoghurts, bananas, fruit juices and hot drinks served from 7am — 10am. There is also a laundry which costs $1.50 for washing and $1.00 to dry your clothes. There is free parking and I never had a problem finding a space. Wi-Fi is also available throughout the premises. Great location at an average price.

I really felt some kind of way, I don't feel like it was worth it. The unit I occupied had several issues. Expensive but was not worth it. Js.

Was truly one of the worst experiences I have ever had! The only thing that was good about this hotel was the proximity to the warf and the boardwalk. The rooms are along a very busy road with alot of noise from cars. Many things in the room didn't function and the included breakfast was a joke. The owner was a miserable man who was beyond rude! Honestly I would pay any amount of money to stay in any of the surrounding hotels than ever go back to this location.

AMAZING! The room we stayed in had a full length kitchen and had lots of space. The breakfast is delicious and it was walking distance from a beach and the boardwalk.

Place is in a big need to renovation. Our room didn't have a proper lock. The toilet didn't flush, the shower head only sprayed a single stream of water, and the blankets were so thin I had to grab an extra blanket from my trunk that we used for picnics. All and all I wouldn't recommend this place.

Nice hotel, good customer service, clean rooms, great location — can see the wharf from the parking lot and a great little Mexican restaurant/taco stand just across the street!

Very subpar. Such a great geographic location for such low quality/out dated accommodations. Time for some upgrades, beds from this decade, linens that aren't like paper and hvac units that don't rival the noise of a 737. As an inexpensive hotels/motels, during off season, the price was fair, but accommodations just didn't match the price.

Location is great, right above the warf. Small hotel so very nice not over crowded. You know it's clean when you can smell the beach when you walk in the room. Other that that it was a nice stay and the staff was friendly.

I give this place a 5 star because the rooms were clean and the price for the beach view room was well worth it. Im glad me and my girlfriend found this place. Had a great weekend breakfast was real basic but cant complain for the nightly rate and view.

No real problems. Breakfast included, but extremely basic. Room showing age with loose faucet, torn screen on balcony door and a slightly drippy faucet. Room was clean and well made up.

I really like the location of this hotel. With that being said, it isn't a resort or anything upscale. It is just a hotel with good location. We did have a Jacuzzi tub but it was old and more like a oversized tub with not so powerful jets. The price is steep and that's because of location. Would I stay here again? Probably because it really is the best spot to be near the boardwalk, warf and west cliff drive.

Room smell mouldy. There was a water leak from the sealing into the bathroom. They did offer to move use upstairs but as we where both handicaped that wasn't an option. It boasted a ocean view, couldn't sea much of it. The outlet on one of the lamps didn't work. Couldn't use the safe. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was ok.

Very quiet and clean rooms and cant beat the price for the location. Only a 5 minute walk from the beach. We booked the upper floor room with a balcony where you get a beautiful view of the ocean. Also, the bed was really comfy. Would definitely stay here again.

Thisnhotel is great. Right by the boardwalk and pier, nice and clean. Free breakfast too! They have no pool that include see but obviously you don't need one since you're right by the beach. They do have a Jacuzzi area though which was awesome. Staff was amazing and very accommodating.

Friendly staff and Great location! Room (111) was clean. Whirlpool tub / Shower needs to be updated. Continental breakfast. No pool but they have an out door whirlpool. I will stay here again.

Despite what you would expect, this os acctually a pretty good hotel. I have been to all pf the high end hotels in Santa Cruz, and it may not be the best. But, this is a great hotel for what you pay for and is spaced out pretty well. I would reccomend this hotel as a mid range hotel.

They tried ripping my kids and there friends off after they paid them and they kept giving my daughter creepy looks very sketch place lots of gangs and needle slamners around and car break ins.

The room is spacious and clean, the bathroom is nice enough but taking a shower is not the easiest experience. Breakfast has not the greatest choice but it's ok. The location is great, very close to Santa Cruz Wharf and Boardwalk.

Ok so my son is lactose intolerant. So when we got to town I had to make a special trip to Trader Joes because no place else carried any milk that was lactose free. (Almond, soy, coconut, rice, ect. ) I bought my sons almond milk and put it in the fridge and went down to the beach. When I got back the milk was hot. The fridge was not working. We contacted the manager and he came to the room with pliers. The knob that is supposed to be in the fridge was missing so he came in and used those to adjust the fridge. But when we told him our milk got ruined he said "it's not my fault" "it works now. " Wow that's not how I like to be treated by a manager.

The worst hotel of the trip. We ask for a good room because we have a baby and there was no hot water at night, the estractor of the bath towards an additional noise to the normal and the mini-bar an infernal noise to the point of turning it off at night to sleep. The next day when making the complaint we were treated very poorly. We were going to stay 1 or 2 nights more but with the bad experience, we decided to leave as soon as possible. We do not recommend it for anything!

Run do not stop, this is place is nasty. We arrived at 10pm after considerable driving. The room was so filthy we could not stay at a rate of 157.00 per night. The managers refused to refund our money and started screaming and yelling so loudly that police intervention was necessary. They screamed that they were going to charge us extra and at first refused to give back id and credit card. Better off staying in your car or checking into another hotel as we did at Ramada for $100.

Worst Hotel Experience Ever! Stayed at this hotel the night of August 17th. Walked into our room that smelled like housekeeping (who was a 13year old boy) just put out a smoke in our bathroom. The table was broken and jammed under the windowsill. We stayed our one night and left early the next morning and received a phone call from the manager YELLING at me for breaking the table after she had charged me $100 for it. Tried to call the manager back to discuss and she yelled at me and said she had pictures and I couldn't prove it. Never had such a bad room and bad customer service in Santa Cruz. Tried to call Howard Johnson corporate headquarters and they said they don't like to get involved. Fail.

The location of this hotel is very good. Walk 2 Min to the Boardwalk, 1 Min on the West Cliff, 8 Min to Downtown. Everything else is in relation to the price very below average. For the undemanding traveler-the-money, little role plays and the location is the most Important thing, exactly the Right thing.
