Adelaide Hostel Hostel

This is the Hostel you want to be at. The walls are CARPETED, and the beds are comfortable and clean. The staff is nice, and their good and hospitable nature dictates everything at the Adelaide. Everything falls into place quite brilliantly. Do not let the neighborhood intimidate you, and in fact, the Adelaide is more private than any Hostel in the Tenderloin. You time here will be remembered well. Chris.

The hostel is located near Union Square and quite easy for me to take bus / cable car to anywhere else in San Francisco. Privacy on each bed in the dorm as there were. The environment is quiet in dorm and respecting each other. The breakfast provided is the best that I have in any hostels that I have stayed in. They have varieties of bread, bagels and fruits. Good ambiance comfortable lobby close to metro station and bus stop. The disadvantage is the top bed is quite high when compared to other hostels that I have stayed in. Quite difficult to get up there. Limited number of bathroom. Recommended for everyone either solo traveller and budget traveller. The location, service and Wi-Fi is great. The place is quiet and you can rest well at night after whole day of travelling in San Francisco.

It’s economic. It’s nice. It’s clean. It’s nicely taking cared of. The people working here are really nice and do their best to solve any inquiere you may have. The hostel is very well located, so you may be in a few steps from everything. It’s include breakfast in the morning. And let me tell you something… it’s huge, well prepared… and considering SF is one of the most expensive cities in the world… this makes a huge difference.

The dorms are nice, the beds are in alcoves and have curtains so it's about as private as you can get in a shared room.

Awesome price, great customer service, their breakfast is hard to beat and the Wi-Fi really works. I would recommend this place over a regular overpriced hotel any day of the week.

This is a review of my stay over a year ago. It was my first hostel experience and now that I have stayed at a couple more hostels, I can more accurately say this is one of the better hostels I stayed at. Huge lockers, free breakfast, downstairs hangout area. Only downside that I can remember is bathrooms are not connected to the rooms. Would definitely recommend.

This was my first stay in a hostel and this place was amazing. I stayed in a private room with 3 other people and it was so much more affordable than any hotel or AirBnB in the area. The people at the desk are friendly and very helpful. Will definitely consider staying here again on future trips.

Friendly staff add to this rustic, old world charming hostel. Breakfast included daily and dinner twice per week. Modern communal kitchen to store and prepare food. Laundry machines on site. A variety of group activities offered nightly. Lounging areas make for relaxed meeting areas. Computers available for use. Tucked away off Union Square, nightlife and exquisite dining await. A favorite place to stay and play!

Adelaide was great, I was only there for a night but they had great facilities and friendly staff who we very helpful at all hours. Lovely crowd.

The workers always very friendly and help you if you have any questions, a good breakfast and shared rooms guys but it goes well with the price they have, to part the place is very central!

Breakfast buffet and comfy beds, but the deal is not very nice, plus the kitchen schedules were pretty strict.

Been here for two nights so far and the place is clean and quiet. Staff is very friendly. Like there is breakfast downstairs, and place to work quietly in the lobby area.

My bedroom is very comfortable. It's really amazing. I used to sleep in the Hilton but this hostel is better.

Been here for a few days and I love it already! There's breakfast, very good Wi-Fi, the staff are incredibly friendly, there's coffee, tea, hot chocolate and ramen at all times. The rooms are lovely, you have a curtain to have some privacy and your own lamp. You have storage space under the beds which you can lock. So far, best place I've stayed in the US. Did I mention they have breakfast? Loved that.

It is well located, but the staff is a bit of a adjuster, plus it looked like they were changing from receptionist every hour. Breakfast is fine. I put that I didn't like it because I found a cockroach in my bed and two others on the wall. You almost gave me something. If it hadn't been for that I would have given him 3 stars.

Awesome facility. Cool place to stay while in your tour of San Francisco City. Its pocket friendly and has a hidden quiet environment that suits you especially if you need quiet place. The staff here are super helpful. But the only drawback is that if you will be allocated some room upstairs and you have a large package. You will definately have a long long day climbing up. There is no lift.

The conditions are minimal even though it is a close deal. The rooms could be better and more space.

A friend recommended the hostel during my trip to San Francisco. It's quite hidden within an alley way, bit don't let that fool you. It's quite spacious and homely inside with friendly customer service. I stayed on the rooms on the main floor and sorry of feel sorry for those who have to stay on the upper floors as the stairs are quite steep. There's a communal kitchen downstairs for breakfast with the basic stuff and a reminder to clean up after yourself. Would I stay there again, definitely — as long as it's not up the stairs.

Everything you'd expect in a hostel! Clean rooms, great location. The people were all so friendly! And the breakfast was free and great! One of the best hostel experiences for me.

Loved my stay here. Right near union square and the Cable cars. Decent. Offers free breakfast and is pocket friendly. The staff are so helpful too. Don’t Uber to the airport ask for Airport transfers coz it’s way cheaper.

All in all good experience. Nice location near Union Square and Market Street. Rooms clean with quite a lot privacy. Breakfast very good with a lot of options of bagels and jam. Staff very friendly, luggage storage possible. Printing for 50ct per page. All in all solid hostel in a good quality and nice spot but a bit overpriced even for San Francisco.

Nice place conveniently located in downtown SF, walkable distance to Powell station. Breakfast is good, would've been better if they provided a larger variety of food but you can always get your own and keep them in the fridge. Rooms are ok, may need a little renovation though. Large storage space under the beds which can fit a large suitcase. P. S. Don't forget to get your own lock and flip flops!

Cozy hostel! Very nice dorm with courtains, box for luggage and a shelf. The kitchen is very big and the building is clean. The most important thing regards the staff who is super friendly!

It's a cozy place. Incredible quality for a hostel. My bed was squeaky clean, fresh, and soft. The location is just excellent. Oh, I forgot to mention their breakfast! It was my favorite in my entire stay in San-Francisco :) Overall, this place is good for backpackers and students with a budget, which I was at that time.

Very friendly staff; will work to accommodate your needs. Good price. Storage in room for luggage but you must provide your own pad lock or purchase one from then for $6. They were out of pad locks when I arrived so I had to go to the store to get one. They'll provide a towel for a $1 rental fee, but they do not have wash cloths. Provide your own soap and such (remember this isn't a hotel! ). Beds are not really all that comfy, but not really horrible. However, I am only 150 lbs so a heavier person may find them atrocious. Never really had a problem with showering when I needed to, but there are a limited number of them so wake up a little early if you need to be somewhere at a specific time. Also the water pressure is non-existent, but you're in a drought state so makes sense. You can hear everything going on in your room: a whisper, a snore, someone rolling over. The city is loud enough so this really isn't a big distraction. People come and go at all times so getting woken up multiple times is a real possibility. Overall good experience, I would do it again as it saved me so much money to be able to do other things. San Francisco is expensive!

Hostel very very well located in San Francisco! It's great for a group trip but to avoid if you don't want to sleep with unknown people,. On the other hand you have flip-flops because the showers are not very clean.

Adelaide was a reasonably comfortable place to stay. This was the first hostel I stayed at and I was pleased with the experience. It was comfortable, the staff was nice, and the environment was pretty cozy. They provide a free continental breakfast each day that includes a wide assortment of breads + toaster, orange juice, and fruit. I was there with two friends and we didn't have any problems. We stayed in a room with 6 beds total. I was in a top bunk and there was plenty of room to sit up. There is ample storage under the beds (bring a lock or buy one from the front desk) and a locked room for bigger bags … Although we did notice they don't seem to verify the bags you remove from that room are yours. Overall, I think it's a bit pricey for what you get, but it's in a great location and I didn't have any issues or surprises. Recommended if you know what to expect from a hostel!

Spacious rooms, real and large kitchen, very nice communal rooms. Clean and warm.

This was my first-ever hostel experience and I had no idea what to expect. The place was much more comfortable than I expected. The lounge and kitchen areas are fantastic and they served free breakfast.

I love everything about this hostel. Most of the staff is pleasant, the aesthetic is gorgeous, the daily events are thoughtful (for example — free food, free wine), the location is cool. This is a place where the people actually care about your experience. I highly recommend staying at The Adelaide.

A well designed and managed hostel. Though the space is small and building is old, the design is good to provide some storage space: such as the space under bunk bed with a door to lock luggage to personal stuff, the rack beside the bed to put personal staff and the rack next to the sink in the bedroom. There is a water faucet and a sink in my 4-bed room and it’s convenient, too. The staff is quite helpful, and welcoming. The location is excellent, great breakfast, and the bathroom is clean. The layout of the common area, kitchen, washing machine room, feels like a home. The price is reasonable and I will definitely come back.

The staff is great. As well as the location. You'll probably see mice in the kitchen but just expect it.

Great place but there was a secondhand, or even thirdhand story I heard from someone I'm a common area, about a mouse scuttling about near the kitchen areas which really freaked me out. Beyond that hearsay though, it's a very nice and friendly place and the staff are all wonderful people who bent over backwards to accommodate our group of almost twenty people for a whole week. I will definitely be here next time I'm in the area.

The location is right near Union square and also near one of the Cable car stops. The layout of the 4 bed room was super good. They had the bottom bunk raised about 2 feet and there was very large storage bins underneath which you can lock up. There also was a 2 plug outlet inside the storage area, allowing you to charge stuff while being securely locked up. The beds themselves also has another 2 plug outlet and personal light. Each bed had a curtain that could be drawn to provide some privacy and less disturbance to the other guests. The staff was also very friendly, helpful and was able to answer any questions I had. They have shuttle services from the Hostel to airports for around $10 USD. I did find the room to be a bit messy when I arrived. The bathroom was also a bit small but did the job. I stayed on the third floor and the room marked bathroom had a shower but didn't appear to supply how water; I had to use the room marker shower right beside it.

I thought this was a great, cheap place to stay in SF. The staff were very polite and helpful. I stayed in the Phillippe room, which is a private room and bath. The room was nicer than I expected. It looked like it had a remodel done by someone who didnt know what they are doing, especially the bathroom, but it was still a decent and clean room. At 7 a. M. There was only luke warm water when I showered. But to me it seemed like that was probably just the temperature it was set at. There was not bed begs like I read on some of the reviews. Next time I am in SF this is where I will stay.

Stayed a week in one of the private rooms when I was here for a conference. The room and bathroom were comfortable, the common areas are cosy, warm and comfortable. The breakfast is simple, but has a bustling and collegial atmosphere. Would stay again.

Very good, central location. Very good, free breakfast. Bunks are quite comfortable. Rooms are quite clean. If you want to leave your luggage in secured place, you will need to have your own padlock or buy I for $5. Overall I would recommend this hostel for short stay (3-5 days).

Unfortunately the reception is only occasionally the door that is open, what is an invitation for the homeless in this city, which like to accept this offer. I had one in my room because the room doors are not automatically close and none of it had expected from the 8 man in the room probably. The reaction of the reception was absolutely rude, because they did almost nothing. Isn't time you wanted to change the sheets let it close the door.
Otherwise, the hostel has a good location and my fellow passengers were super nice and really fun!

They have bagel and a toaster I love the hazelnut spread. And orage juice and the free binstayed at the Adelaide and had somewhat of a good time going to techno clubs never saw any of the other residents there. I like the fact that they have bitter wine and cheese once a week and games.

An unpretentious decent place, clean beds, helpful and responsive staff.

Me and my friends stated for a week and it was beyond a great experience as they truly facilitated all of our needs, from discounted parking to free breakfast great costumer service and overall good times. Plus the blonde girl in front is really cute.

One of the best hostels I've stayed in. Clean, hot showers, comfortable and private sleeping spaces and a good breakfast. Good, central location also and mostly very helpful and friendly staff.

A good place to stay for the inexpensive cost. Was in SF for an event at the Moscone center, and this hostel is easily in walking distance which is very convenient. Nice people and staff. For a hostel, the privacy is very nice and exceeds expectations. The bathrooms accommodate one person at a time and can be locked. The beds have curtains, and lockers have power outlets for if you need to charge your phone/laptop and want no chance of it being stolen. Would stay here again if in the area. If you're going for tourism, the downside is that this hostel isn't near any of the touristy things, but a single bus (or lengthy walk) will get you there.

I'm enjoying staying on Adelaide a lot. The bunks are the best I ever found on any hostel: they have curtains for privacy, 2 wall plugs, a light for reading and a huge shelf for books or charging phones. Lockers for each guest are available for each bunk inside the room and are enourmous. They also have 2 wall plugs and (moderate) lighting. The breakfast is average for an hostel, with a good selection of bagels/bread and jams. The staff is quite pleasant and make the stay really enjoyable. The location is very good — 2 blocks away from Union Square, with easy access to Bart.

Location, location, location. I love this place, right down town near. Subway and bus makes getting around so easy. The hostel is so well done. Privacy curtains on the bunk beds is a very nice touch and the breakfast buffet is outstanding better then some of the major hotels in town. But what makes this place great are the people not only the staff but the guest as well, met some amazing people here. A must stay in San Francisco. The best Hostel in the City.

The owner of the hostel is always concerned about people and everything goes cant question. Breakfast included, very welcoming, very well. Great rooms.
