I lived here for three months in a shared living. The management is really nice. The room is cleaned regularly. They have a fully functional kitchen with free breakfast! And also a great location in SF!

The Hostel is great for backpackers and for people who want to meet other travelers. Twice a week, there is a free diner with the other guests of the Hostel. I stayed both in a 6-bed room and in a 8-bed room an I almost preferred the bigger room because the beds were less squeaky and had a curtain.

The reception lady was very nice and helpful. Breakfast wasn't bad. The room was smelly and bare. On one of the nights we stayed, a group of people came back drunk around 2am and were litterally yelling and singing for THREE hours, but the staff didn't do anything about it. I definitely wouldn't recommend the place to anyone I like.

The location flirts with Tenderloin, but is very walkable for many of the tourist spots such as Union Square (which is why I chose it). It also serves as overflow for Adelaide Hostel which is why I ended up here. It's not quite a traditional hostel vibe, as the hostel rooms are just converted hotel rooms with bunk beds. Not every room had the built-in beds, so be sure to ask for them specifically; the metal beds are pretty creaky.

Wifi reset every hour or so. Noisy beds. Only good her eis the price, free breakfast, location and some employees.

Very good reception, simple and pleasant rooms, very nice view from the 7th floor.

Good prices. Enough for tourists.

The rooms are for two people the truth. There are different options from where there is a single bed of matrimonial size or from two single beds.

This is the worst possible living situation you can imagine. The staff has no respect for people that stay there. I had a package that went missing once and was never found. The staff says they saw it but don't know where it went. Since in that instance the staff was professional, I let it go. Two months later, I ordered a package to the hotel and Amazon said it was delivered. I went to a staff member to ask about it, and she said it's not her problem and I just have to keep looking. This was not professional. I emailed the manager about she treated me, and this angered the lady at the front desk and her friends that are on the staff. I came back to my room a week later, and they changed my lock so I could not get into my room. When I asked what happened to my lock, a staff member said I must've "f***ing broke my key in the door. " I immediately left the hostel as I felt unsafe due to the staff's aggressiveness while I was there my last couple weeks and lack of management. I do not recommend this hotel for even my worst enemy. Alternatives to this are: sfsh, taylor hotel, etc. Also, you can go to hostels. Com to find better, cheap places to stay. Some of the good reviews of this place are written by their staff members. BEWARE: this is run like a frat house.

Old school vibe hotel amazing and genuine staff, the place to be in the heart of SF.

Very good Hotel.

Place is old, more like a hostel than a hotel. Breakfast is various types of bread with jam or butter. Elevator was never functional when we were there. Traffic and voices outside noisy most of the night, even on 6th floor. Room smelled strongly of urine, and they were nice to change our room, which smelled better, but I still found what looked like blood on the mirror. Overall, cleanliness was less than I expected for the high price I paid. We ended up leaving the second night even though we paid for the night as it didn't meet our standards and staff didn't seem concerned about our complaints.

Accessible in price but very careless in its maintenance. The old building doesn't justify being in such bad condition. Nothing advisable, pay more for a better service.

The rooms are very well equipped with everything you need. The location and the price are great.

Beware of bed bugs (or worse). I stayed here last year and was fine. Not this time. Stayed 4 nights, found bites all over my neck and arm after the 3rd. To their credit, the staff moved me immediately to another room when I told them and offered money for laundry. Still an unpleasant experience and a huge pain to have to quarantine all your belongings afterwards. The bites are still visible a week later. The elevator was broken for 2 of the 4 days I was there, and my room was on the 6th floor. Read the other reviews about the janky elevators — I'd enjoy the experience if they were working. Giving 2 stars and not 1 because of the decent price in a great location, and because I've had problem-free stays before. But I think I'll pay for peace of mind next time instead.

Clean, cheap. It was a very pleasant room.

It's a magical place to stay in SF for a fairly price. Most of the staff are really nice and work hard to keep it clean and organized. Breakfast, free diners twice a week and social events make the experience even better. The owners are the ones who cares of each detail to make your stay comfortable and safe. Just some managers bring a bad energy to the place and don't really care about the human factor. If weren't them, this place could get 5 starts very easy.

Just stayed there last night. One of the best hostels in SF. Stayed here with 3 friends and it was great to meet some very cool people from different nationalities. Free Chilli is to die for. Where else in San Fran you get free dinner. We got upgraded for free to a private room as we were a group and it was great to have our own bathroomI would definitely recommend this place to my friends back home.

Not the first time. Today the manager (Kasey), which is very racist, denied to give me a handshake when I got here. Which was fine. But when I got back from an event in SF, the Cuban receptionist (the same one who took a copy of my CREDIT CARD last time) was very aggressive with me taking my cellphone from my hand when I said that he was harnessing me. When I was going to my bedroom (even with the check in made this afternoon) this is definitely not a safe place to rest in San Francisco.

The hotel is ok, they have breakfast and is well located in San Francisco downtown. I had a bad experience considering I made my reservation and received an email confirmation for a 6 dorm bed but when I arrived they were fully booked and they gave a 12 bed dorm. Breakfast is ok and you'll probably meet young travelers in this Hostel.

Great but not the bedding…

Booked last minute online, but once I got there to check in they said my registration hadn't come through. It was by luck the room was still available. After walking up seven flights of stairs with our heavy suitcases we discovered that the girl at the check in forgot to give us our key. Had to walk back down only to have to argue with the girl about whether or not she gave me a key… She did not, but kept insisting that she had. Finally she did provide me with my key and up the seven flights once more I went. Why did I walk seven flights? The elevator was broken. If you have any mobility issues this is not the hotel for you. They will not offer to help with the bags. When we entered the room all the windows were open without screens. The room was cold, damp and there were flys swarming all around. The room was cleanish but because the age of everything it was hard to feel like it was truly clean. The bathroom was very poor. The tile floor needs redone… I refused to walk on it barefoot. The bathtub was a old claw foot tub which sounds cooler than it was as the curtains around it were dirty with a little bit of blood splatter. At that point I was so tired I didn't care and kept showering. The towels they provided were small and stiff. The bedroom we had came with a double bed and a single bed. We slept in the double, which was a shorter double bed. My partner who is 6'3 had difficulty as his feet were slightly dangling off the end. The bed was hard and the linens old.

Good location and same ownership as the Adelaide Hostel. Otherwise: expensive; less comfortable and less spacious dorm room than at the Adelaide; dirty bathroom; still with no atmosphere (as Adelaide! ) or entertainment.

Pricey for a run down place. Amazing location, great staff and reasonable breakfast. San Fran is always expensive I guess, just wish that simple upgrades like nicer beds and sheets and painted walls would be taken care of.

My stay has been great there is a dorm instead of a single unit so two rooms a fabulous kichen and very good service it's just an all around great hotel.

Great staff, great facilities (you can use the kitchen of the hostel nearby if you like), good breakfast, cozy rooms, nice location✌️

It's not ok the elevator is not good and the towels is rent for one dollar.

Cool funky hostel, part of the Adelaide hostel. Has a decent kitchen, breakfast, and one of those neet old timely elevators with the sliding doors. It's located right by union square and a bart station. At night it can get a little sketchy if you walk down the wrong streets but it's sf so there's not much you can do about that.

A thoroughly adequate hostile, but nothing more than that.

Got a private double room, facilities were clean, bed was great. Knowing that this place was more of a hostel I was pleasantly surprised. There is street noise as it's in a busy location but that's to be expected. At the price compared to other options this was solid gold.

I stayed there one night, what for me was good enough for the price, cheap with free breakfast, but this place wasn't my first option, the Adelaide Hostel people send me there due the unavailability of rooms, what disappointed me because I've made my reservation 4 days before. The worse things are the smell of the rooms (like smoke) the old elevator and the unfriendly staff.

Friendly staff and provided good free breakfast unfortunately, the social night is bad, the private room for 4 is too small for 4 people and the rooms have bad smell which is a turn off for me and my friends.

Great place to stay close to Union Square, affordable prices!

While the rooms were decent, the location was amazing, and the bathrooms were. Meh. The costumer service is TERRIBLE! Extremely rude and unfriendly. They think if they smiled earth will devoured, and that they are the guardians of the planet. they won't help you with ANYTHING unless they give you a compulsory side of sass I arrived at mid-night and the sassy receptionist was TERRIBLE, said to myself "well maybe because it's late and he is tired" woke up in the morning and the morning receptionist manged to be even worst! As if I somehow offended them for choosing that hostel, and they wanted to punish for choosing that hostel. Well I will offend you no more, I am not coming back there, and I highly discourage anyone of going back! I've never written a bad review to a business in my life!

Perfectly located, simple and nice. I would recommend it to those travelling in San Francisco.

Very friendly and helpful staff, location is ideally located to reach everything on foot, I would go every time again super choice for breakfast, the price-performance ratio is really alright, can only recommend the hotel.

Stayed in a private room there a week for a conference that was at the Hilton. Nothing fancy but had the necessities.

Very cool hostel. Great location and extremely affordable. Quiet and breakfast is included. However, the staff aren't very friendly. Spoke to one of the receptionist, was very friendly and didn't even get a smile in return. Also, we were told that there were all girls and all guys dorms, we requested an all female one and to our surprise had a guy walk in two days later, we questioned it and were told that there were only coed dorms only to find out later that there was and all male dorm. Confusing and should be clarified amongst staff, but apart from that our stay was great.

There are better option at better price than here. Rooms are tiny and feel crowded with 4 human being in the room. Location is good with lots of nice eateries near by.

Standard is not very high but you have everything you need and its clean. Services is friendly. Breakfast could be better.
