Travelling 14 hours to arrive here and the room have rubbish and smell like urine, try and have a shower and there's no hot water. Contact the company to find that they will not refund any of our money for the whole trip. Highly recommend picking somewhere else as they ruined our holiday.

Amazing community doing really impactful work.

Horrible neighbors. Thoughtlessly loud, into the wee hours of the morning. Keeping children, working and retired people awake all night without regard for their communities. Terrible hypocrites.

I had a great time. The hotel was reasonably priced. The amenities were what I expected for a building that old. Liz from the front desk was super amazing. She gave us superb advise on what to see in the city and how to get around. The trip was so much smoother thanks to her.

Malisimo very bad attention no shampoo soap tuhallas paper I do not recommend it charismate and charges you parking.

This place is very elegant.

It was really hot in the room but the antique look was cool they also did good discount.

Good people! Beautiful woodwork. Nae Nae and Lu, too. Be sure to hang on the porch even if you're a non-smoker — there's always a good discussion underway and a djembe within reach if you get percussive.

Hey Embassy! Thanks for nearly screwing up our Outside Lands Trip by not being able to keep a reservation straight! And a prepaid one at that! And while we were there having you waste our time waiting for a room that wouldn't come you did the same thing to a poor traveling family.
We found a nicer if more expensive hotel at the last minute and it's not run by incompetents.
You suck. Goodnight.

Not the cleanest hotel I've been to. Water went out on me for a few hours and the soap dispensers were empty. Things were dusty and as far as being competitively clean goes. That isn't here. Il.

The rooms are nice, though you cannot turn off the heater even in the summer. The overnight staff seems typically more friendly than the day staff. Good location. Parking is 30$ a day though…

The first night was pretty awful. We were changed to another hotel with no prior warning and moved to the oasis, which was a terrible hotel in comparison. The Embassy gives a different impression in the lobby, though the rooms are overall very beautiful. The elevator is shady and their certificate of safety is several years expired. The service was good, though really confusing at times. We were given the wrong delivery food, and also were given confusing instructions to the wall heater in our room that flat out just wouldn't turn off. As a result, the room was often way too warm with no real solution. The window didn't have a screen, which wasn't ideal, but that window stayed open the entire time we were in the room. The toilet was REALLY loud. There were no secrets as to when the potty was being used in any room down the hall. There was also a significant shortage in outlets which complicated charging devices.

Small and quaint. Nice views of the city Its a dated building so the only new tech thing was a flat screen tv. No AC but its the bay, so that's normal. Small heater Giant closets. An additional person could even sleep in there. The elevator is extremely small. Only fits 4 people max with luggage. Its a beautiful hotel and its a 1 to 2 minute walk from the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.

Dont ever go here. Front desk guy tried to push into the room! My daughter and her aunt stayed here. First he gave them bad room keys. So they werent able to get back in their room to get their belongings. Then he gave them another room until he could fix the problem with their room. And 20 minutes after being in the new room he tried to come in the room while they were sleeping. Luckily, my sister had already felt uncomfortable like something was wrong. So she wedged a chair underneath the doorknob. It prevented a quick entry. The front desk guy was trying his best to push the chair out of the way to get in the room. My sister and daughter began yelling at him and slammed the door closed. He still tried to come in. Worst experience ever. Im pressing charges. Dont stay here.

It was a small cozy hotel. We spent the night there after a concert since we had to attend a party in the morning. Nothing extra ordinary but worth the price.

Staff was drunk and used vulgar language toward us. Entire building seemed dated and unkept. Worst hotel ever.

Hotel is expensive and offers not so much. Many poor people who live on the street are what is disruptive and I find that sry as German not OK. It is not safe at night to pull through the block and that's why 2 stars.

Everyone giving this place bad reviews must be hotel snobs. My husband and I stayed here for two nights while we explored the city on our honeymoon and really liked it. It has some historic charm to it for a great price. If you're looking for just a clean place to sleep, this is it. Just a short walk to Market St where you find shopping and all the public transportation. The front desk attendants were all very nice. Free parking right around the corner from the building is a HUGE plus, it has a gate too which is added security.

Clean beds and a great price. Located almost in the center of town, next to tenderloin, provides private parking and has good rooms. Room didn't have AC but understandable due to buildings construction. Just open a window for a cool breeze. Probably overlooked due to its location but a true diamond in the rough.

If this was a $50 per night motel it wouldn't be that bad, but I paid almost $200 per night and there was no a/c, all the appliances in my room (tv, fridge, lamps) were not plugged in, some of the lamps were missing bulbs, they have no toothpaste or mouthwash, and it's in a really dingy neighborhood (lots of homeless people and people loitering on the street corners). Also, the Wi-Fi doesn't work on the 5th and 6th floors. There is one elevator which is really slow. The guy who mans the check in destruction is really fantastic — he plugged in my appliances and helped however he could. But the hotel is doomed. I wouldn't ever come back to this hotel if I could help it.

This is a Great Hotel! The front desk service is always so nice. The rooms are clean & very cool. Nostalgic for me! Reminds me so much of my grandparents & other family members homes in SF back in the day when I was growing up. The tile in the bathrooms is so classic! And they have some very cool, absolutely beautiful antique furniture. The rooms are small, but that's how it was when they were built! Just like Europe. I think the owner of this hotel does a great job of keeping the place nostalgic, yet modern/accommodating for our generation and electronic devises. If you come here please understand it's no different than the small hotels in Paris, Italy & Spain! Just chill and go with the flow.

Perfect location in that its so close to town, just on the edge of the tenderloin so its basically avoided! Nice clean rooms and lovely staff, would definitely recommend considering the value for money.

Short of rats this hotel seems to have everything — thin walls, smelly rooms, bed covered with hair and no power plugs. Actually I am not so sure about rats either. Lets see if I can pickup some bedbugs here as well.

Old budget amenities but and rough downtown location but ok for staying a night or two. I was under the impression that the hotel had a Continental style breakfast but did not seem to be the case. Bathroom was very old but relatively clean and room doors and floors could use some love. The night staff also forgot to book my 4:30am taxi but because of the early call time it was not an issue. All in all I'd stay here again if I preferred a downtown location but this hotel is not for everyone.

Perfect place to stay in every way you can imagine. Make sure to stop by at one of the Sunday dinners or stay for a couple nights of you're traveling. They are all lovely people who will go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable.

This a decent hotel to stay, it is definitely not a top notch property but is very centrally located. I stayed here during my recent trip to SFO. The check in process was easy but the guy behind the counter was very slow. I had booked the hotel through Expedia and my booking confirmed that parking is included in the hotel room price. The staff though tried to trick me and said it is $20 for parking but once I showed him my bookking details he didn't charge me for parking. I guess he was trying to make a quick 20 bucks. They have their own private parking lot on the back side of the hotel which was very comfortable and although it is first come and first serve, I was able to get a spot during all 4 days I stayed here. Coming to the hotel it has old vintage/victorian look, the lobby is small but is nice. My room had all the basic amenities, we had TV, iron board etc etc. The rooms are decent size, as I already said they are not fancy but for the price I paid I think I was expecting better rooms. The hotel has an attached bar/dance club Noble. They actually have their continental breakfast inside Noble. The breakfast was decent nothing fancy, they had cereal, bread, juice, coffee etc. Overall a decent place to stay but the rooms could have been more cozier and good looking.

Being an old hotel, it has very good service, the elevator cracks but it's ok, the TV only has 21 channels and are only in English, the beds are nice and it's a clean place, bathrooms are old style, it has free parking for guests and Wi-Fi, in summary it's a great place for staying 1-4 nights.

It was a place to sleep. The door didn't seem to fit the door frame so the room always had a large crack of light shining in and frequently our card key wouldn't open the door. Walls were thin enough that you could hear everything happening in the other rooms. Beware of the shower, if anyone in the building flushes the toilet it gets HOT! Luckily it was cool when I went, but for the moments when it was hot there was no air condition to turn on, but there was a heater that made weird noises. There was a cabinet that had a label stating that it was for a refrigerator, which would have been nice to have, but it was screwed shut and became nothing more than a glorified TV stand. Staff members were friendly, but it was as though only one person would be on shift as a time and nothing could get done. Took two days before we got the extra pillows that we asked for. Continental breakfast was lame, bagels, bread, juice, and cold coffee. I liked the location of the hotel, but at the same time I didn't. Homeless was a big problem, you just learn to avoid certain streets at night and also that sometimes it’s worth walking up a block to the next bus stop rather than waiting by the homeless hang out. But there was places to eat near by, a movie theater in walking distance, and a Walgreen's.

Good spot if your on a budget. We stayed for 3 nights under $250 and it would have cost us that much for a night in downtown. The elevator sounds like its going to break down but we had no trouble. The hallway is old and the floors creak but the room it self was not bad. Remodeled room with king size bed, flat screen and walk in closet. It's about 5 blocks from Union Square — 15 min walk or a $6 cab ride. There is a lot of homeless people and smells of weed when you walk through but they are harmless. I was scared walking the first day but got used to it. They won't bother you but I wouldn't suggest to walk down the street at night if its all girls. There is a club connected to the hotel so its pretty loud fri/sat nights. Again this is not a 5 start hotel but if you just need a place to sleep then you can't go wrong.

Cozy and nice hotel for the money that ask (is there something to compare). In August, a single room with two beds cost a thousand dollars a month. While other hotels have all sold out. Students make discounts — just talk to the hostess of the hotel Meri and explain what the student. You can call in advance and book from Russia. I even did not prepay is simply arrived at the appointed day-my room was waiting for me. The service is not haunting, if not ask, do not remove or remove once a week:) Location not downtown, of course, but all vehicles within 10 minutes on foot.

The Embassy is especially cheap. Free Internet, parking and mini breakfast in principle the range make a good package. The rooms are absolutely below par. We have changed the room two times before it was acceptable — there was a functioning remote control for the TV in almost in any room. The rooms facing the street are very, very loud. The beds are old. The bathroom small and in need of renovation.
