We've stayed at the Lodge three times, and have always enjoyed it… the last time being over New Year's 2020. They have a good breakfast, helpful staff, and are within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean. I cannot wait for this pandemic to end, so we can go back to the Lodge and Pacific Grove ♡

A very affordable and comfortable place to stay. Just far away from the hustle and bustle of down town. With lots of dining and activities close by. The staff was very informative and pleasant.

Wonderful place to stay, and the Manager Amber is just amazing, and the reason we keep going back!

Dated but fairly well maintained accommodations. Quiet neighborhood. Not too long of a walk to the ocean shore where beautiful views can be enjoyed. The staff were friendly and helpful.

It's not elegant but it is clean, it is quaint, it is in an awesome location for walking the coast, taking off to walk in to town or ride bikes. Had very friendly staff. Rooms are big, at least our King size was. Internet is very weak, we didn't need it, but business workers beware. We slept great, had balcony to drink our coffee and have drinks.

Great quiet location away from the hustle and bustle of Monterey yet only a 5 minute (or less) drive to the aquarium. Within walking distance of uncrowded beaches. For the price and location, you can't beat The Olympia Lodge. We started there for 2 nights the 2nd week of August 2018. Our room was very clean. TV was a boxy one but we were not there to watch TV. They do have HUNDREDS of TV channels available though if that's your thing. Breakfast is continual but there's a small fridge in your room to keep your protein in and a Safeway store just down the street. Friendly staff and comfortable beds. I would recommend getting a room with a private deck. We didn't have one and we were a little jealous of those that did. The little decks have a table and chairs on them so you can enjoy the outdoors a bit.

The location was good, just a 10 minute walk to the beach. The room was clean and spacious and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom/shower area was very small and the shower was difficult to use. It was hard to figure out and once we did figure it out, it was hard to turn the knobs to adjust the temperature. We only stayed a night so but I probably wouldn't stay again or longer if I had to.

Beautiful place to stay and only a mile from the ocean. The staff is wonderful. The beds are comfortable and the hotel is beautiful. I will definitely stay again.

A nice, quiet hotel within walking distance to the Point Pinos lighthouse and beautiful beaches with tide pools. A close drive to the quaint downtown area of Pacific Grove. My only suggestion would be that the hotel room should have a table, as eating in the room was difficult. Other than that, it was clean, family friendly, and had a nice continental breakfast every morning. It's location was perfect!

Great weekday deal through Travel Zoo (can't speak to normal rates). A little out of the way, but it was a quiet, calm area, not busy, just what we were looking for. Parking spots get taken up quickly, so we parked on the street both nights, but it wasn't far, and the neighborhood felt safe. Dated hotel but kept up well. Clean. Typical hotel/motel room. Nothing fancy. Good continental breakfast. Yogurt. Bagels. Coffee. A few other goodies. I could've filled up on it. We heard the person next door coughing a lot during the night, and we heard the cleaning crew's carts rolling through walkways, so thin walls. Shower water is easily affected by others using water (flushing, sink, other showers), so that was uncomfortable. And we woke up to ants on the vanity and along the closet frame in the morning, but we left an ice cream carton out, and ants aren't totally the owner's fault. We didn't take this trip for the hotel, so it did it's job, but without the deal, I'm not sure we specifically seek out this particular hotel again if another hotel had a better offer. We've definitely stayed in worse hotels in the Monterey area, which is rife with old hotels that leave something to be desired. But there are also way better places to stay… if you're willing to pay the premium.

This place is very cute and rustic. It's small and quiet, and shares a lot with an apartment complex in the middle of a residential neighborhood, so there are no nearby restaurants or bars to walk to. The amenities are very basic but the staff is super friendly and helpful. The beds were quite firm, which is not my usual preference. If you are travelling with kids especially, try to get a room with a balcony!

Do not stay at this hotel I went here for what I thought was going to be a fun family getaway and when I got into the room it looked absolutely nothing like the pictures. I had to end up changing rooms 3 times while I stayed here one because I had no bathroom light the other 1 because the plumbing wasn't working and finally when I got into a decent room I was just exhausted. There are really no amenities at all if you don't mind what your hotel looks like and you are using it strictly to sleep then maybe I could see staying here but if you are looking for a family vacation I don't recommend this place at all.

Diamond in the rough! This place is a hidden gem and so special. It is walking distance to the ocean and some rooms have really pretty views. The staff was so incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and spacious and have outdoor decks! It has a woodsy feel but in an upscale yet simple way. You'll sleep great here because it's quiet and beds comfortable!

A good sized room, with decent amenities. Very kind staff and clean with a decent continental breakfast. Very peaceful environment.

The only good things about this place is that the staff are very nice and helpful. We stayed in room 119 the door didn't lock you had to really pull the door closed. The bed was way too hard I felt like I was sleeping on the floor.

While a bit dated, the motel seems well cared for. When checking in I was greeted nicely by the manager. I was a bit early but he went out of his way to see if it was ready (it was). The room was a nice size with two queen beds. It smelled clean with no chemical smells. There is a continental breakfast available from 7:30-9:00am. While I could not see the ocean it is just a short drive away.

Good place to rest is in a very relaxing area or not far from the beach to enjoy.

Nice for the price. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff. It's in Pacific Grove so it's pretty close to everything Monterey has to offer. Very close to the Monarch butterfly habitat. Each room has it's own porch which is nice for watching the sun set, but no views of ocean. I agree with the consensus that the rooms are a bit dated and could be a bit cleaner. But overall a good experience and I would stay here again.

Service was great and the rooms were clean, but the breakfast was basically a banna and bagel, also things in the room were a bit dates. Has the large box TV's that make a high picked hmm.

Great lobby, good rooms. Not so close to the ocean, great for spending the night and day trips.

Property is a little old but charming with lovely views. The front desk staff is incredibly nice and friendly; they really make it a pleasure to stay at their lodge! Would happily return.

Hotel was a little dated. No AC, small box TV (haven't seen one of these in a hotel since 2002), bathtub had remnants of last occupants hair (very gross), closet door was broken. Bed was comfy and the location is nice. Complementary bagels, coffee, cereal, and yogurt for breakfast. Not bad. May or may not stay there next time I visit Monterey.

I was there with friends. Super cute and quaint. We were there for the miata event at Laguna seca. My friends said they wish there was a REAL TV in there room instead of an old box tv. Maybe something a little better than a continental breakfast too.

High ceilings made the room feel large. The carpet in the room needs some updating as it seems very old. Limited, but fresh continental breakfast.

Also wir sind zu viert hier und es gibt genug platz für Koffer etc. Das Frühstück ist auch onay und die Zimmer sind sehr saiber und gut gelegen. Es gibt aber keinen Pool was relativ schade ist, man hätte nicht baden können weil es hier sehr kalt ist. Insgesamt ist es eine sehr schöne lodge und nur weiter zu empfehlen.

It's a cute place in a beautiful town. The room itself is nice when you walk in. Everything you'd expect in a hotel room are there: beds, pillows, mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave, hair dryer (under the sink), iron and ironing board (in the closet), and extra towels (in the closet). The beds were a little on the firm side for me, but not the worst I've slept on. Each bed had four pillows that seemed new and not flattened yet. As other online reviews stated, the TV is an older one, not flat screen. The cable is also not digital so you have to flip through the channels to see what's on. There is no channel guide in the room to list which channel is which. For some reason steps echo through the building so you can hear someone walking within 30 feet of your room (at least it seems that way), and all steps sound like stomps. The bathroom wasn't as bad as what I expected after reading some online reviews. It could use some updating, but it was functional and clean. Our shower stall had water pouring out of the tub faucet so the shower water pressure was half what it could have been. They offer a Graco pack n play for families who ask for a crib and can note it on your reservation if you call to request it. Bring a pack n play sheet or ask for an extra flat sheet to cover the bottom since it has obviously been used by a few kids.

Great location. Super staff. The room is older but Clean and we'll maintained. Enjoyed our stay.

Great place. Clean and well maintained. Friendly staff. Parking is a little limited but there's close street parking. Close to most major attractions and walking distance from the beach. You can hear the surf from the rooms and that's a plus. We would stay here again without hesitation.

The room was nice with small porch. Room 215 overlooked the apartment complex next door, so no view to speak of. Breakfast in the morning was mini muffins, coffee, orange juice, milk, toast and English muffins. The king bed was comfortable. Sleep was quiet. It is a 6 block or so walk from the coast.

We had a room with two Queen beds which isn't the norm with most rooms (definitely a plus). The room was a decent size but with a tiny bathroom. There is a microwave and mini fridge. There is no view from the bottom level but that wasn't a big deal. The breakfast consisted of bagels, toast, cereal, juice and coffee. There are no restaurants within walking distance, so you have to drive to "downtown" Pacific Grove or Cannery Row (where the bars and shops are located).

Rooms have a rustic, old town, romantic feel with lots of modern amenities & upgrades i. E. Wi-Fi. Our room had a balcony which was very nice to sit on while drinking a hot beverage and reading. I plan to stay here again on my next trip to Monterey!

It was pretty good. We stayed here a bunch of times but there was always bugs on the bed. The staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms were okay. I don't recommend it for a long stay but for 2 nights it's ok. I hated the t. V. It was old and ancient. Also we stayed here one time and the complimentary breakfast had a lot of good stuff but now there's only toast, yogurt, pasteries and yogurt.

Complimentary coffee and bagels in the morning and free Wi-Fi! Great stay overall!

Rooms were OK, clean enough. Service, when available was good, however, I called 3 times and left voice mails and never received a call back. Tried to check in early and had to wait an hour for the attendant to come back from a lunch break. When she got there, she was very helpful.

A convenient and friendly lodge tucked away in a quiet part of Pacific Grove. Nice staff, clean rooms. Good value. Glad we found it.

BED BUGS! We stayed at this location one evening and our lives were turned upside down for several months. I started getting welts on my arms about two weeks after our stay. After many doctors appointments and no success with ointments, I found a bed bug on our furniture. We had a pest control firm come in the next day (after packing up our home overnight) and he confirmed the bed bug infestation (100s of bugs in our box spring) were consistent with our stay at Olympia Lodge. It is the only motel/hotel we've stayed in this year and we've had no visitors so it is the only place we coukd have gotten them. We have contactes them four times by email and multiple phone calls. All have fallen on deaf ears. We will be taking legal action against them.

Lovely room and property! Clean, large, partial ocean view, small balcony and close to everything. Hotel walls are VERY thin though. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you can sleep through noise. We are currently unable to sleep and have been listening to our neighbor snore all night long.

Booked two rooms last minute that were cancels. Got a killer deal! Quite, clean, would stay again.

Older, traditional motel style, no frills hotel. Not modern, but still clean rooms, some with a decent view of the water. Balcony a plus. Not a lot of parking, the continental breakfast was a bit lacking, and I could not get the Wi-Fi to work. Not too far from the cannery district.

Prob the worse place we have every stayed. The noise was ridiculous and the pool did was not open, the cabinet doors were hanging off and the bed was horrid! We would have left the first night had we thought we could get another place but most other places we booked. I do not recommended unless you like waking up sore if you even sleep and if you can sleep through loud noise all night!

We had a good view of the ocean. Clean and quiet. A great value.

I was recently there to play golf and found my self gratefully sleeping in a brand new bed with new carpets and nice furniture for a change. The room had nice serene color palette, no garish primary bill of fair. I had my own balcony after a long day on the links.

Worst hotel experience ever. At 1:40 am, the party goers upstairs decided that being loud and obnoxious in general was not good enough. They had to break stuff. I'm not sure exactly what they broke, but it sounded like they were throwing beer bottles against a glass sliding door. Needless to say, that pretty much woke up all the guests in the lodge. I tried calling the front desk first. Got a voice message saying that the front desk closed at 10. My wife noticed that there's a button on the phone to contact the night manager for emergencies. Tried that and it went straight to a fax machine. I ended up calling the Pacific Grove police department. Surprisingly, I got to speak to a dispatcher right away. The cops eventually showed up, but the party somehow continued until 3ish in the morning. Basically I paid $225 a night to live in a rowdy college dorm on a Saturday night. Nobody from the hotel was available when I needed them. If that's your cup of tea, great. But if you actually like to sleep at night, I'd suggest staying away from this place.

All the rooms have been redone. Very clean! Ray @ the front desk was very cheerful, helpful and took very good care of us. Our housekeeper, Elva, handled my "fussiness" w/ a genuine smile on her face! Very accommodating! (extra pillows, towels and @ 1 point I needed her to reclean our bathroom floor) Prices very reasonable, close to all the things we came for: beach, lovers point and butterfly park.

Ahh, what a wonderful 3-day visit to the Olympia Lodge. It started as a 2 night visit but. Sooo good that my Lady friend and I are returning again this Holiday weekend. The price is reasonable, and the accomodations are more than adequate. We really enjoyed the Continental breakfast — which was quite popular among the guests. The folks at the Front Desk were very nice and friendly. The food that they provided was waaay more than a costco visit, as a fellow reviewer noted. I usually don't share my favorite secret places, but after reading some adversarial recommendations, I had to weigh in. :).

I have been staying at the Olympia for several years. It used to be great. It has recently come under new management. Now they take days to call you back. Meanwhile, the hotel gets booked up. Or my most recent experience.! I made reservations a few months ago. They left me a message today to tell me they are canceling my reservations. "The owner is having an "Event". Here is a number of a reservation service. " What?! That is just not right. It's peak summertime. There's no more rooms. That's why I made my reservations months ago. Bad business. They just haven't got a clue. No longer a loyal patron. So sad.
