Beautiful Environment and good walking around area. Not far from the ocean sites.

No lock on the slider. When I complained they said to use the stick Seriously. Rooms are dirty and gross. Do not stay here.

Buyer beware. Disgusting hotel! Truly felt like I have been scammed. Especially for the price! We booked a Junior cottage for $366 first night and $429 second night before tax. We did not stay both nights. We got in really late our first night and we're exhausted and couldn't find anywhere near by available until the next day so sadly we had to stay in this health hazard of a hotel. We would have left immediately if it wasn't almost midnight. This place is filled with mold and dirt. Our room was so gross. The carpet was stained everywhere, the walls were dirty and stained we literally took a cloth and wiped them down to see how bad it was and eewww it was gross. Mold everywhere in the tub, sinks, walls, windows ect. Look at the pictures. 3 of our 4 windows didn't open only one had a screen on it… one that didn't open at that. Without the air flow the room was stuffy. When we walked in the screen was on the ground. I have never experienced such a gross hotel. I have stayed at motel 6 that are incredible compared to this place. Their website also boasts " an evening wine reception and a chef-made breakfast each morning. " However neither were happening and there was no notice of this upon booking or on their website. They replaced their hot breakfast with a bag with a muffin and fruit. We didn't eat given how gross the room was I wouldn't trust the food. I get that covid has changed things but at least make your guests aware that your amenities are not available.

Loved the property and location. Stayed during covid so pool jacuzzi and full breakfast was not available, but staff was very nice and upgraded us to a suite for our 20th anniversary. Firepits were open and we enjoyed them in the evening. Look forward to staying again.

We enjoyed our room with gas fireplace, close proximity to beach, away from the hustle & bustle of Monterey. Bonus — we could bring our dog!

We loved staying here! Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was very quaint, comfy, roomy and in a beautiful location! Perfect place to stay and venture out to Pebble Beach 17 Mile Drive, Carmel, Point Lobos and just exploring the area. I want to remember this place so I come back!

We had an enjoyable stay-comfy beds, refrigerator and microwave, small coffee maker. Heater in room. Small patio with swing outside and beautiful view. Out front office person was very helpful-the heater and TV wasn't working. Needs a new remote. Covid-so bagged lunch breakfast. Quiet rooms. Very clean-only major problem was glass door in shower didn't close properly
Otherwise great price snd friendly staff. Would recommend. Plus you are close to beach and golf course.

We rented the Residence for 3 days it was BEAUTIFUL! They were o patient with me asking for extra sheets because I wanted to be OCD and spray down everything and sanitize everything and put new sheets on myself like I always do now. Very patient kind staff. Very happy. Due to covid only bummer is no wine hour or breakfast buffet but the do hand out breakfast to go bags for take out to the room.

This place was wonderful. Nice location. Big rooms. Comfy pillows. Huge walk in shower. Friendly staff. Trail to walk along the cemetery right out back.

We stayed her for only one night, but hope to be back soon! Very clean, comfortable, and adorable! The staff was extremely nice and even upgraded our room:). If you are searching for somewhere to stay in Monterey, stay here!

When the last time before this time. I had a fire place but it’s okay it was beautiful other wise. But it would of been better if I had a fireplace for my birthday but it’s okay. It’s pretty pricey when you don’t get a deal but when you do, there no view to it.

Walking distance to the beach, beautiful lodges and friendly staff! I’m coming back!

I have to say, in 45 years of staying in hotels and motels this place was hands down the nicest we've ever stayed at. Fast and friendly check in, very accommodating. The cottage was beautiful and immaculate, with a fireplace and amazingly comfy bed. The wine and cheese spread was lots of fun in the very cozy dining room. We packed up to leave this morning and expected a typical continental breakfast. Nope… full breakfast menu (included with the room). I don't know what the summer rates are but for $140 this place was AMAZING! We'll be back!

Lovely room and friendly staff. So happy they accepted our furry kids too. Yes, we brought a pet sheet.

Proximity to the ocean. The evening wine tasting. The wonderful fresh prepared breakfast, the roomy junior suites, and the wonderful stories you hear from your fellow guests.

This is our fifth year that we came to this place. We like the location and the staff at the cottages. The people at the front desk could be more friendly. The people at the cottages are very friendly and polite. The breakfast (you order whatever is in the menu, which is very good — omelets, eggs, bacon, country potatoes etc. ) and happy hour at the cottages are good too. We won’t come back unless they change the mattresses. We stay in one of the cottage suites and we got a king bed that is old and uncomfortable to sleep on. By the second night my back was hurting. We also had a sofa bed. We checked it, thinking that in the future we would like to bring our family and kids. That sofa bed is like a torture bed! We could feel all the mattress springs hurting our backs. Unfortunately, we will look for another place in the future.

They can start by elevating customer concerns to management who can at least pretend to care. I attempted to voice my concerns after my recent stay via email, didn't expect to get a response and didn't get any. Chose to wait over a month before posting my opinion here. In April, I had my 4th & final annual visit here and was very disappointed that there doesn't appear to be anyone who cares about making or keeping customers very happy. Ditto most of the previous complaints including photo evidence.

Very difficult, I personally wouldn't stay here again just because I don't like animals staying in the room's. But for people that like that stuff this place is pretty cool. Pepper did everything she could to make our stay comfortable. Thanks Pepper!

I checked in on 4/14/19.
I was warmly greeted by Pepper at the front desk. She was friendly, professional and courteous. I was in Room A cottage room across the street, and 1 block from the front desk and lodges. … These are the issues I experienced during my stay from 4/14-4/17/19: Spotty Wi-Fi service. Couldn't make calls out, or receive any on my cell. My phone in my room was not functioning properly. I was not able to receive calls from another party at the hotel, just make outgoing calls to them. I called the front desk to let them know. I was told that this was not the norm, and that she didn't know why I was having problems with calls and Wi-Fi reception. Ants all throughout the room, including my bed. Hairs on my sheets. I could smell that the sheets etc. Were not washed. They smelled of perfume, etc. I was not able to sleep comfortably during my 3 day stay. The next day while I was out and about, I came back to my room to find that my parking space was taken by another guest. I called the front desk to ask why this happened. I spoke with Katherine (sp? ), and she told me that the guest staying in the next cottage had a lot of things to carry into her room, so that's why she was given my space. I told her that I was not happy about this. Katherine (sp? ) said she was sorry, but that there wasn't anything she could do about it. Upon checking out on 4/17/19, Pepper was at the front desk. She asked me how my stay was.

We just checked in for the night. We drove by and decided it looked like a nice place. Bought a room for the night only to find out the lovely place wasn't the actual hotel. They have a sign at that property directing you half a mile down the road to an old hotel that is literally attached to a cemetery. Old property, old rooms with a direct view of a graveyard. The hotel room isn't worth the close to $300 we paid for it, $150 tops. The one star review is for the bait and switch on the property. We will never stay again.

Stayed in one of the second floor rooms. Beautiful, modern space with a fireplace, high ceilings, balcony looking out to the trees behind. Comfortable Cal king bed. Close enough to the bay to see a bit of it, and hear the waves. Heated pool and big jacuzzi were a nice bonus! Overall a great deal.

Very nice place. Clean and cozy. A few things need improving. No hairdryer, and bathrooms were a tight squeeze. Toilet was right behind door and you have very little space to stand by shower door to close it. Other than that, nice quiet place.

The rooms are nice, clean, and roomy. Room service doesn't come by consistently but staff is accommodating enough and nice and will come or provide you with all you need. My room has iron, ironing board, hair dryer, microwave, and fridge and free Wi-Fi. Lodge is in a clean and quiet neighborhood not too far from the essential sightseeing spots. I would definitely come back if given the opportunity.

Nice location, close to beach paths and shore. Very roomy with king-size bed, balcony overlooking cemetery, can actually hear the shore. Rooms can be noisy, but fairly quiet area. Breakfast is bread, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, coffee, store bought mini muffins (super cheap variety), yogurt, and basic fruit. Something you would expect at a cheap hotel.

This lovely property is aging faster than it is maintained, but we still loved our stay at the junior suite cottage. The food and staff were great and the rooms were cozy and clean. Loved the sunken jacuzzi tub. Don't miss the free wine and nibbles from 4:30-6, breakfast was exceptional! Try the potatoes. Avoid sleeping on pull out couches.

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary. I'm going to focus on the positives first. The room was clean and tidy. No stains or dirt. I enjoyed the free Wi-Fi and continental breakfast. Great idea having a microwave in the room, even though we didn't use it. Blackout curtains were very effective. We also appreciated having a balcony. Here are the things we didn't like. The shower was hard to get to a comfortable temperature. The handle had a small window for comfy water temp. The shower ceiling had mold in scattered locations (see pictures). The front door had gaps in the weather stripping which let in very cold air (see pictures). The balcony overlooks a cemetery. The pool was out of service. The spa was drained and according to other reviews, it has been drained for a while. The continental breakfast was basic: cold, hard boiled eggs, cereal, bagels, english muffins, oatmeal, and toast. The balcony sliding door was very difficult to open and close. It probably needs to be lubricated. There was no trash can in the room. The area with the ice machine and vending machine was dinky and little. The bed was hard, but I love hard beds so I slept well. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. However, it won't be our first or second choice. Good for an affordable stay. You get what you pay for. Also, ask for a user guide to the thermostat.

Nice enough but nothing special. Breakfast was tasty, bit I could make it at home, served on paper plates. We got a cottage room, once again, nothing turn complain about, but also nothing amazing. No view from the room (looks out into a tiny alley yard with no nice plants it anything). Good place to stay if you enjoy walking over to the tide pools or along the beach, but if you're looking for fancy if look somewhere else.

Really beautiful rooms and grounds but our room was much smaller than the website described. They didn't have any extra blankets and only one extra pillow. We found a roll away bed in the parking garage which they also said wasn't available. Ultimately the service was a little subpar and the price was a bit steep for what you actually get.

Updated Rooms, nice area to walk around, near golf courses and beaches. Very quiet and peaceful nights sleep. Pet Friendly! Breakfast could be done a little better and hot tub was out of use. Other than that, I would stay again for sure!

We got one of the cheaper rooms. The room had been refurbished recently, but it was mostly cosmetic. The beds were very uncomfortable, and I had trouble sleeping. There were stains on the carpet, and the toilet smelled bad. Staff are friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was nice; similar to a Holiday Inn Express. The pool is not heated, and the Jacuzzi was drained of water. On a warm day the pool outside eating area would be very pleasant. The late-afternoon wine-tasting is fantastic. Sit next to a gas fire pit, and enjoy unlimited wine, cheese and vegetables for an extra $8 per person, or included for those in a lodge. Very enjoyable, and very friendly staff.

Loved this place. Stayed for two nights in a studio king cottage w/ fireplace. Was very clean and cozy. The chef prepared breakfast was very good, and the service was quick and attentive. Can't wait to come back.

Clean and remodeled. Very nice tile and bathroom area. Parking is easy. Breakfast is very basic.

Went there November 2017. I can't believe that these guys charged almost $300/night and I con't believe we actually paid it! This lace it's basically an upgraded version of a Motel. Our King size bed room supposedly was for 4 people, but our children had to sleep on a rolled-in bed, very uncomfortable, you could feel the springs net through the mattress! Also, the "Jacuzzi" is just a regular tub with some jets in it. The pool was "closed for remodeling". Included breakfast was so-so, regular "continental" breakfast junk, served on styrofoam plates (really?! ). I feel bad for the cook, he was a very nice guy, doing his best. But the people at the reception were amazed that we are even complaining about the mattress. They offered to change it, with another one. Identical with the first one (?!? ).

I've been coming here for years, but highly disappointed this holiday. I was glad to get the room for about $100. Yet they raised the pet fee to $50. Ok, my inexpensive room just inflated. I've had a long day of travel and the only thing I want to do is soak in the jacuzzi. I suit up and go out to the pool area to find the jacuzzi empty and the maintenance guy telling me it will be empty for a week. No where on the website or the front desk is this posted. I'm sorry, but that is false advertisement and I wouldn't have picked this hotel. Now I'm in a bad mood and I had such a good day up to this point. I put my food that I brought in the frig and have to turn it on. It starts making this very loud noise. Luckily it calmed down and only roared every once in a while. I don't have TV at home so it's a treat to be able to relax and just watch. Nope, that didn't happen. The only channels offered were the hotel station, sports and weight loss infomercials. No movies or basic shows. Ok, so I decide to just go to bed because I am freezing and can't seem to change the temperature of the room. The bed was so uncomfortable I had trouble sleeping. I had to wake up in the middle of the night to take Tylenol because I was in so much pain. Sadly, but I won't be booking here again.

The lighthouse was amazing! Me and my wife stayed there for our honeymoon. The location was perfect. Right between cannery row, and the beach. The breakfast in the morning was a little underwhelming, but the restaurants nearby made up for that. I would stay there again.

The room was just as pictured on their website, the chef made breakfast was great, close to ocean and Peninsula, quiet area close to all the tourist stuff we wanted to do. Would stay again!

Great place, pet friendly, bathrooms could use some work and updating. Love the view of the cemetery and ocean, dont stay on the other side. Have stayed 3 times and will stay again.

A month after our stay there was a charge on my credit card for an additional $19.99. I called to ask what the additional charge was for and was told that we had rented a movie. We did not watch any movie, just local television for the news. I told them we had not purchased any movie and they would not remove the charge. That is a lot for any movie, especially when we never ordered one. If you go there, don’t turn on the TV or you will be charged a large fee. I am very disappointed in their lack of customer service and the need to dispute the charge with my credit card company. I do not recommend this place.

Very cozy. The air is so easy to breathe, check in was easy, plenty of towels, rain style shower head with excellent pressure, nice and heavy comforter on the bed. Nice little walk away to the lighthouse point overlooking the ocean. Minutes away from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. All while very affordable.

This is a good example of the pictures online not representing the reality of the condition of the actual rooms. We were stayed in room 228, tile was falling off the bathroom wall (see photo), the wood framing the bathroom door was rotted down to nothing (see photo), a framed picture was missing from the wall where the implements to hang it still hung (see photo), the balcony handrail was rotted (see photo), the carpet in the room was stained throughout and the stairs leading to the room were in clear need of maintenance. This is the room we took after seeing the "queen" room we had reserved on an internet "special" that was so small there was no space to place and open our carry-on size bags. When we spoke to the on duty manager (Nayla Cruz) she displayed very poor customer service and was basically unsmiling and down right rude. The cleaning staff did a poor job the one day we did request to have the room cleaned, taking the little that was left in the tissue box and drinking cups and not replacing either. The pool was dirty and the spa unfilled, the weather was in the 70's and both could have easily been enjoyed by guests if they had been cared for. The breakfast included a variety of items in a comfortable room with nice attendants. Not the "chef prepared breakfast" mentioned on the internet. We will not stay here again and do not recommend it.

Lighthouse has been our goto Monterey hotel for 10 years. We have stayed in the Lodge regular, junior cottage and Lodge fireplace rooms and are never disappointed. A breakfast is included with your room (in the cottages it is a made to order breakfast! ). The only thing is our phones have very little coverage here — but that isn't always a bad thing and Wi-Fi is included.

It's very quiet neighborhood, the room was cozy and sapcey. Even got a switch control fire! Reception was very friendly and accommodating.

Great Get Away — rooms up to date and modern — love the fireplace and if you enjoy a HOT SHOWER — this place has HOT WATER — not like most places we have stayed. A little further away from the beach but was a great value. One side of the building does back up to the cemetery so it was very quiet and dark at night — Great for Walking Dead Fans — lol.

Got the suite above the registration desk. Very nice, clean and big. It even has a fireplace! Some of the furnishings are as bit dated. Overall, would stay there again.

Let me start off by saying. Staff is super nice! We stayed in room 222 with a beautiful view of the cemetery. I loved it. We stayed 2 nights. We will be back.

We stayed for three nights in a cottage King room. It was delightful. On other trips, we stayed in other motels in the area. Of all available, this facility had them beat. The room was much larger than most with very high ceilings, giving it an even more spacious feeling. The shower in the bathroom had a great spray head and there was room for about 6 in the shower. The small refrigerator, microwave and sink made the accommodation perfect. Breakfast was selected from a menu and cooked to our specifications. Of course, other breakfast cereals, bagels, fruit, juices, coffee and tea were available. The lovely wine and snack time was great. It started at 4 which gave us time to socialize before going to dinner in Pacific Grove. Selecting the Cottage King room was perfect for us and our friends. We will stay here next year and avoid the other options.

Beautiful view from our room. Butterflies, deer, hummingbirds, and trees. Nice shower, decent sized room. Bed was a little hard, but not really a problem. Not a lot of power outlets in the room, we didn't expect to have a lot and brought a power strip or two. A little older place, but very well kept. Was a nice walk to the beach, a little over a half mile. Worth the 150$ per night, but I would have been disappointed if I had paid $350.

If I could give a zero star rating I would. Where do I start? The staff does not care about anything and they are rude about it too. Our view, there really isn't one but when you go out to the patio you are 10 steps away from a cemetery and there is no fence or anything. We were about to have some wine and needed a wine opener come to find out they only have 13 wine openers and they were all in use and the 5 fur she were sold, good planning guys, the girl was so rude about it. Had to go out and buy one in town. Here is a tip, don't hand out the last bottle opener, keep it and offer to open the bottle for your guests with a smile on your face. And the kicker of it all, the pool is tiny and in the shape of a coffin, weird. Last thing, the Continental breakfast sucks, I mean it really sucks!

My husband and I stayed three nights in one of the one-room suites. It was well-appointed, spacious, and clean, and it had a gas fireplace, which we used every night. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We had the cook-to-order breakfast each morning, and they were always wonderful. The potatoes were perfect! The service was prompt and friendly. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. It was the first time for me, but the fourth time for my husband (he works in the area a couple of times a year). I definitely want to come back.

Great stay with the kids! Can't wait to return without the kids! breakfast made to order (and served until 10am so you can sleep in) wine reception, helpful and courteous staff. Extra blankets when requested. We loved our stay for a quick family vacation away from the valley heat. Cannot wait to return. Thank you!

Mixed emotions about our stay. First of all lovely location, this was our second stay in the cottage suite. When we checked in the associate did not tell us about the cheese & wine reception in the evening or the breakfast in the morning. Since we stayed there before we thought we'd call and ask. When calling the front desk the associate was rude and acted like we were bothering her. I specifically selected the cottage suite due to the fact it had a jacuzzi tub and come to find out it didn't work, after reading other reviews, it looks the tub hasn't worked for some time. I strongly feel management should train employees better or find employees who want to work there. They need to provide better service. It was a bit disappointing.

Our stay here was a gift from a family member and we are very grateful for that. We wish it was a better experience though. We would probably not stay here again. The front desk has less than friendly staff. Very dry personalities. Also, one of their male employees knocked on our door and entered our room this AM without waiting for a response. Knock, enter. He didn't wait even 10 seconds. Luckily I was dressed. The room is actually very nice with 2 exceptions. …
1) The bedding — the sheets kept coming off and there is nothing underneath it, just mattress. Ew. And the pillows are way to small.
2) The deck. It is useless in the rain. Lastly, it would be nice to have a working hot tub, especially at this time of year.

Another wonderful stay! We had our favorite room, right on the patio by the fire pits. Our room had been remodeled since our last stay and it was lovely! The shower was a delight. Thank you to the wonderful staff, from our check-in to housekeeping to the chef. You made this our best stay yet!

Room was very nice and clean. Looked like it had just been updated recently with a contemporary look that I really enjoyed. The outside of the hotel rooms have not had that recent upgrade but the inside of our room was really beautiful and comfortable. Front counter attendants were both very friendly and welcoming. Also only a few minutes walk from the beach with a small view of the ocean from our balcony. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

We arrived at 4PM. They weren't finished cleaning the rooms and the first room we were given hadn't been cleaned at all. The room we stayed in needed work on the balcony door and the thermostat didn't seem to do anything. The bathroom counter was too small for a couple's toiletries. The entryway is large and empty, they should have used some of that space to make the bathroom larger, although the shower stall is a reasonable size. Like everywhere I've ever been in California, the water pressure is too low. I want my shower to be a monsoon, not a gentle spring rain.

We stayed for our anniversary. Got a king room. Super clean, very spacious room. Front desk staff friendly as well. We will stay here again for another getaway.

Room was really nice with a cottage feel. Pictures on website for the hotel looked a lot better than in person. The young lady at the front desk wasn't mean or nice kind of in between. Fire pit across the street was nice but wish we could have got an upgrade since they had so many vacant spaces. I did mention it was my wife and I anniversary but was ignored on that part. The food was the big surprise. Freshly cooked and offered a complete set up including pancakes and pastries.

Me and my wife stayed here. It is really a nice place to stay. Our room was really clean and the staff was friendly.

Staff were friendly. Room was clean, reasonably priced. View was as advertised. Breakfast venue a little small for the number of guests but there was plenty of good food in fact someone was cooking right up till the end of breakfast time. Check in and out smoother. Location perfect for 17 mile drive, sea views, Cannery row, aquarium. Would stay there again.

We stayed at the lodge, which had been completely remodeled. Optional appetizers and wine was $8 per person and included crab cakes, cheese, veggies, and cookies, well worth it. All the expansive oceanfront views without the crowds. Walking distance to the ocean and Monterey. Highly recommend this place!

We have stayed here several times in the past and have always enjoyed it because of its location and being able to get a cottage suite at a reasonable rate. However, my wife and I just stayed there this past weekend (December 11th-13th) and man is the place showing its deferred maintenance! We once again stayed in one of the cottage suites (Room 1313) and it really left a lot to be desired. We checked in and the room was FREEZING! I instantly checked the windows to find that 3 of them were open. Unfortunately, the window mechanisms/hinges were rusted and broken apart. This forced me to go outside and press them back in place while my wife tried to latch them from the inside (not an easy task). I ended up putting duct tape on the outside of one of them just to keep the weather out. These suites also come with a fireplace which has always been a nice feature. Unfortunately, there was no gas to light it and the glass had been busted out of it anyhow so we wouldn't have been able to use it no matter what. The last issue was the pocket doors that separate the bedroom area from the living room. These were completely off of their tracks and tucked back into the wall making them unusable. I am an early riser, so unfortunately my wife was woke both mornings early while I made myself coffee and tried to keep the room as dark as possible by only using the light over the bar area.

Deer came right up to our back door. So quiet and serene, close to the water, as well as clean. Definitely a place I'd stay again.

What a present place to stay. The Lighthouse Lodge is perfectly placed in beautiful Pacific Grove and just a stones throw away from the beaches and Monterey. The rooms are very pleasant and our view was of a cemetery, so we know our neighbors were going to be quiet. All in all, we'd stay here again, for sure.

Nice room but could use a little TLC. Carpet tack strip is almost exposed, carpet getting pretty worn and upon check-in I asked about the evening wine and cheese reception and was told it was an additional charge. On the booking site it was stated it was included and on their website as well. A little disappointed about that. I was told by the front desk staff 'sorry' but it's an additional charge eventhough it's supposed to be included.

Excellent stay at Lighthouse! We were a bit scared by the bad reviews but finally decided to book at this hotel because they offer large rooms with a separated bedroom and that we've read that the rooms were very recently remodeled. Upon arrival we've been more than surprised — in the good way — by the size of the room (even larger than in our suite at the Venetian in Vegas! ) and the quality of its design. For sure it has been remodeled with very good taste. The king bed is very comfy and the fireplace much appreciated. This family suite is definitively worth the money and the pictures on the website do not give justice to this room.

Very disappointed in the present management at the Lighthouse Suites. We have been staying there every year for the past 13 years while participating in the Pacific Grove Triathlon (even during the time of the bankruptcy). Each year when we checked out, we asked the person checking us out to put us down for next year and requested and was told what our suite number would be. Every year everything went as discussed. We did the same thing last September after the triathlon for this year's 2015 event. When we called this month (August) to say we'd see everyone next month, we were told by the manager, Nallely, that we had no reservation and that nothing was available at the Suites where we always stayed. It was explained that we reserved a suite the same way we had for the last 13 years, but was told "sorry there's nothing available". This puts the current management in a very bad light and casts a negative view on how we feel about a place we had always felt was special.

The room was great. Free breakfast and small dinner. The tub did have some cleanliness issues, the outside was rough. Minor details go a long way. It is a block from the ocean though, that was nice. You can hear the seals at night. Romantic.

I enjoyed my recent stay and looks like the rooms are being updated as we were staying at the cottage side of the hotel. Me and my girlfriend enjoy the room and our stay. We will be planning a trip there again very quiet, pleasant and relaxing. The fire pit outside was a plus for me and the fire place in the king suite was icing on the cake for my girlfriend lol.

My husband and I enjoyed our getaway very much, just a short trip from Santa Cruz. The staff was incredibly helpful. The king room is very large and updated nicely, and the balcony is a plus. We had a view of a local cemetary but it didn't bother us, and we could see the ocean a little. The monarchs were amazing to watch outside our window. Another plus for us was the bike storage and the short access to the bike trail. Beautiful area and will definitely stay again.

This is not what it appears to be. The photo of a lighthouse is NOT a photo of the "lodge" or anything on the premises. It is a misnomer to call this "lodge and cottages. " This is a motel a la 1950s that pretends to be a lodge and cottages. Our "cottage" was the basement level of the motel building in a dark room with a tiny bathroom, looking out on a cemetery. There was no reception for use of phones or Wi-Fi that worked in this room. We found the room so depressing that we left after 10 minutes and went to find another hotel in Monterey. Don't waste your money.

We enjoyed our stay overlooking the cemetery. We saw a doe and her fawn eating grass. The room was fine, but we wished there had been a sliding screen door on the sliding door, for air flow. The two double beds were a bit small, there seemed to be plenty of room for two queen beds. We liked the hot breakfast of eggs, potatoes and oatmeal, however, with children, it could have been more special if there had been danishes and sausage links as well. The refrigerator had a broken control knob, but seemed to work okay. We used the hot tub, but it was to cold to use the pool. We will stay here again, it was a good value, good location, and comfortable setting.

Decided to try somewhere new… NEVER AGAIN! Bought the Groupon deal for this hotel. Groupon rates this as a 4 star hotel should have been listed as a 1 star. Our reservation was for the 1150 address. Maybe 4 stars is meant for the other half of their property located at 1249 Lighthouse Ave. Upon entering our room we noticed pure filth. Lower door knob was broke, wood exterior door in serious need of repair, Hair was on our pillows, soiled comforter, sheets a mess, jumping bugs under pillows, musty smell to room, Plywood n between mattresses for support, stained carpets and upholstered chair, torn dirty bedding, old Tv, Furniture falling apart, dirty freezer, Slider door was broken/didn't close/broken handle, deck has obvious dry rot, Furniture blocks the only heat source, wall plugs are old/painted over not properly affixed to walls and cords are stretched so far they can't be plugged into outlets completely, bathroom was nasty, extremely dated thermostat and unkempt grounds around the property and rude staff whom refused to listen to the complaint or offer a refund. We were there 5-6 mins at most before we vacated and went elsewhere. Not great, not awful. Adequate to the task. Who ever did their website should get a raise. But, don't expect your experience should even come close to their advertising. Very, very, very good photo editing. Oh, and bring flip flops for the shower. Rolly polly bugs on the floor, made me scream just a little.

Ahhh. I love this place. We stayed in the cottages sections. The made to order breakfast was great. I really didn't expect that. After the breakfast, we all took a little stroll to the ocean side trail on the Asilomar State Park trails. It goes all the way the to beach area but we turned around 1/2 way. This place is very quite and spacious. My family really loved it. We will come back for sure.

Perfect for my and my infant! My hubby is deployed and I have no family in the area and had water damage in my apartment. So I needed to stay somewhere that I could darken the room (naps are half the battle in motherhood! ) Beautiful renovated suites, nice tube/spa thing in room but I would never use that. Quiet and beautiful area which was great. Complimentary breakfast had a variety of selections and was perfect for us. Complimentary dinner BBQ leaves a lot to be desired, I only tried it once out of the several nights I stayed. Very friendly service — 150% accommodated my needs.
