Hotel staff was great but it is NOT a friendly hotel if stairs are a problem.
Also the printed bill I received did not match the electronic one I received. Not sure why they split my bill in half considering I only stayed one night but the printed copy did not have all the information I needed.

Rooms were nice, front desk was anything but helpful!

Love this place! This is the third time we stay here! Our suite is huge and our kids love the spacious rooms! The bar is great and the restaurant has decent food!

Had a 6 night stay here to visit my son at CSUMB and it was amazing. The staff were polite and extremely helpful with anything we needed. My daughters birthday was during our stay and they thoughtfully sent milk and cookies to our room. The breakfast staff in Pacific Grill were friendly and took time to talk to you. We felt very welcome and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying Monterey way. The bus access was a 10 minute walk away if you don’t drive and we went everywhere in the surrounding areas — Santa Cruz, Sand City, Seaside, Delmonte. Sad to leave as we enjoyed it very much and hassle free.

Smooth Checkin, good size room a bit cold at night in September but air con helps to heat up.
Breakfast was really good tho seems expensive.
Surprise checkout 15$ for car park they dod not say anything when checked IN.

Got a comped room for our wedding, and the room was HUGE. The property was so pretty and we wished that we stayed more than just the night of!

Easy to find. Breakfast was not included, but if you paid you could get a made to order omlet. Nice pool, and a fire pit that you could make smores at at 6pm. Okay room, but our bathroom smelled a bit like mildew. We had two queen beds in the room. A small balcony with a view.

Hilton is in a great location if you're planning to visit the Monterey Aquarium. If you're coming from San Francisco it's nice to stay overnight so you don't have to drive back up when it's dark. You can take some of the scenic drives around the area. The hotel was very clean and a great deal outside of the small charge for parking.

Good amenities and a hotel where you feel good. The location is good and the whole staff welcoming and very pleasant. I recommend this property and in addition Monterey is a very nice and human-sized city.

The place had a feel of an old motel. The air-conditioning started to drip during the night. The locking mechanism to the door to the balcony was hokey to say he least. The breakfast was bad. There was the $15 fee per night to park. One expects better for $400.

Decent hotel, a bit dated. Suite layout was odd, TV's were not located all that well. Pool good but small. Skip the hotel restaurant though, not worth it.

Omg! Tereza, the manager, was here last night when we checked in and she's here this morning hustling with her staff serving, cleaning, food service, etc. She is the very definition of a leader. Arturo is the BEST omelette chef! Thanks Arturo! Perfection! Jandy our server was so sweet and did an excellent job making sure our needs were met. We look around and all of the staff are nice, professional, and willing to serve. Exceptional Hilton property.

The property is huge. Rooms are average sized. There are very few (and poorly located) elevators, however. It can make for a long and tiring trek to your room. I didn't see any real restaurants within easy walking distance. It's about a 1 mile walk to the wharf, close to 2 miles if not more to cannery row and the aquarium, but it's a very scenic walk. Left too early to know if they have a breakfast, but being a Hilton Garden Inn, I believe they should have a restaurant. Don't believe breakfast would be free, however.

This is nice hotel we enjoy staying in when visiting Monterey and Carmel. It's a very short drive to the wharf and downtown Monterey. It has a decent breakfast buffet ($15). They serve cookies at 5pm and Smores by a firepit by the pool from 6pm til late. Parking is another $15 per day as well which is why I don't rate it a 4… their parking fee is pointless since the hotel isn't close enough to anywhere to walk.

I booked my rooms several months in advance for a birthday occasion, even though a previous person had cause damage one of the rooms, the staff notified me right away and we were able to adjust our stay with another room. Im spending my 3 nights here, with a nice pool, staff, and a very nice overall hotel I'm very pleased that I stayed here. I did notice the past reviews here that were negative obvious these reviews were folks that were to cheap and went to a 3rd party source or is an ignorant snooty pig that should get there head examined. Last but not least I like to thank Tereza team especially Jamie to make my occasion exceptional and I'll be returning again when I'm here and enjoy my time again in the area. I do hope that there Corp. Office realized what a fine crew they have and the restaurant here is wonderful experience as well…

Really good service. The rooms were arranged very nicely and the replacements were done by the next day too. Healthy Continental breakfast and refreshments provided. There was a run special in the breakfast arranging the food early mornings too which was really pretty cool…!

PROS: Staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. Price is reasonable (given the location). CONS: The rooms are very dated, actually most of the property is very dated. The parking situation is not great. The parking lots are very small and not convenient. The underground parking is limited and has a dead end which requires a very difficult u — turn if no spaces are available. Parking costs $15. Not that close to main Monterey attractions.

This was a wonderful experience. Bedroom was so clean and they delivered robes to the room! The hot tub was well kept, as was the gym area. Highly recommend staying here.

Overall all very nice hotel, clean rooms and friendly staff with good dinner recommendations. However, beware of the noise. The constant door slamming and loud footsteps sounded like there were lots of angry teenagers staying here too.

I was pretty much a permanent resident here. All the staff are awesome, the cookies in the lobby are good, and the rooms are pretty decent. There is a great work out facility and a heated pool. There are also free s'mores and a gas pit fire to hang by at night. Fun stuff! The bar gets popping in occasion, as well. I did notice myself completely drying out while I was there though. Between the heat and the chlorinated water and towels, I was chappy. I would wake up with bloodshot eyes and a dry mouth. I would just make sure to bring your own water to drink (or from the front desk) and moisturizer for your skin.

Love staying here when visiting Monterey either by myself on business or for pleasure with the family. Hanging out by the fireplace near the lobby bar or the outdoor fire pit near the pool things are always “chill” here. Very relaxing. They treat you like an old friend and welcome you into their home to make you feel comfortable.

Excellent staff. Had a long day and the front desk offered me coffee and cookies. This is what keeps me coming back here. Yes the beds are comfy, the room is clean, many nearby restaurants, close to the wharf, and childrens' park for my son. But nothing beats a welcoming front desk who offers coffee and cookies. I've stayed here for at least 15 times.

The location of the Hilton Garden Inn was our main draw to this hotel. It is near the Monterrey aquarium, as well as a short drive from the 17-mile drive. The hotel itself is not bad. The staff was friendly and the honors program allowed us to get free water, which was the nice. The room was quite old but clean. The parking costs $15 per night, which was quite surprisingly considering most hotels usually offer it as complimentary. The hotel was pricey for it's quality but offered a good location.

A normal hotel for a couple of nights, but no more. It is inconvenient that you have to walk across the street for breakfast. And I do not understand why for the breakfast already paid for the booking, you should leave a tip? For what? An inconvenient built-in shower, with bad water pressure! Parking turned out to be paid, as already reported at the check-out! Of the advantages of the Internet.

I think it’s a great place, relaxing. Upper floor rooms have large patios… ask for one facing the pool. I got a rate of $85, which I think was a good deal, on Priceline. Clean and quiet. Breakfast all you can eat $15.00 good omelettes.

This is my favorite hotel I've stayed at in Monterey! I'm a flight attendant and stay here a lot. I've also stayed here with my family on vacation. Is a great place Weather a work trip or for fun. The location is wonderful, you can walk down town and to the beach from it or it's just a quick uber ride. Lots of great places to visit and eat at close by. The hotel is beautiful! The rooms are very nice and always really clean, they have private balconies to enjoy the sun shine and relax. It has a great bar, restaurant, pool and gym. The restaurant at the hotel is excellent, very good food. This hotel has an amazing staff, always very professional, helpful and friendly! I would give more than 5 stars if I could, it's a wonderful place to stay!

Stayed there for 4 nights. Room was clean and the staff were friendly and attentive. I only had breakfast there, which was good and the wait staff were also very attentive. I would stay there again. My only complaint (not sure what the hotel can do about it) is the lack of cellular service. If you need to keep in contact with anyone or use the cell network for your business devices, be warned. I would have to resend multiple texts and could not get any photos/documents downloaded and emails on my phone were delayed like my texts. The hotel Wi-Fi worked on my laptop, but not my phone. If you are looking to unplug and get away, this is a good spot.

On the whole this hotel is lovely, with well appointed rooms that each have outdoor patio to sit and enjoy the beautiful Monterey weather. However, there are better rooms than others. Rooms on the second and third floors that face the parking lots are wonderful. The first floor rooms facing the parking lot are a bit scary, as there are stairs that come up from the lots against the back patio. Rooms facing the pool side have better views, but the shape and building material of the hotel make it an echo chamber. The sounds reverberate off all the concrete and glass. If you are looking to have a really fun visit, pool-facing rooms will give you that. If you are looking for a more peaceful visit, get parking lot-facing. The staff are also mostly friendly and helpful. There's a small convenience store in the lobby with basic necessities and some food and beverage options. The lobby is comfortable and beautiful, a great place to hang out with your friends, and the bar attached is very nice too. In the center of the complex is a restaurant that offers good food at rates comparable to other restaurants in the area. They also accommodate large groups well.

This hotel is well located. The staff is great, helpful and friendly. However, this hotel is quite loud. Door slams, talking in the hallway and general noise are all easy to hear from your room. I'd especially avoid any rooms in the stair well, it was so loud we asked for a room change. To end on a positive note; I loved the free smores, cookies and big pool and hot tub.

We called to check for availability the same day and we're able to get a room right away! But upon arrival, we found our room had two double beds, instead of the one King-sized bed (which we had ordered). I called the front desk and a gentleman, named Thomas, said he would fix it right away and was able to get us in the room we needed. Room service was AMAZING and staff was very attentive and professional. We are so pleased with our stay, and a special thanks to Thomas! :) -Nicholas + Kyah.

Good location about 15 minutes walk to the beach. Staff helpful and polite. We ate in the restaurant one evening it was quiet and the food was excellent.

I really did love the whole stay. Here are the really good points: great staff, they have my little one a fun toy to play with at check in, the food, the pool, fire pit with smores, even the bean bag toss game they had my family enjoyed a lot! Here is my wish list: updated rooms, and a mattress that was just slightly softer. I'll be back, and I'd recommend it to my friends as well. Thanks for a great time!

Nice hotel although a bit dated. The first room we were given on the first floor had a horrible odor that would not go away. Upon letting the front desk know, they moved us to a new room right away. Everything was standard for a hilton garden inn; nothing special — although they do have a larger restaurant on the property than most and food was exceptional.

Everyone at the Hilton was awesome! From the time we arrived the front desk staff was great and accommodating — the housekeepers were great and the chefs were friendly and made wonderful food for us for breakfast! Even the security guard was friendly and she was a sweetheart! Highly recommend this place!

We were given a room right away no waiting. The room ended up having a really weird smell. Went the lobby explained the smell and we got another room no questions asked. Very professional staff. We drank at the bar and had endless snacks and reasonable prices beer. I ordered the peppered rib eye and it was cooked perfectly. My partner ordered the shrimp and scallop linguine also delicious. We were only here 1 night but will come again. A great experience here in Monterey.

Noisy but very good hotel with pool and restaurant.

We planned a bereavement dinner for our guests. The Hilton Sales Director was very accommodating to our needs. Chase Rameriz made sure our requests were taken care of. I would not hesitate to do business at the Hilton or recommend them for future events.

Very nice hotel. Conveniently located in downtown. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The bar was very active and entertaining. Breakfast was freshly prepared and moderately priced. One thing to be aware of is the parking garage owned by the hotels comes at a fee.

Good hotel with renovated rooms but they feel the weight of the time especially in the furniture. A little sad the fireplace in the lobby with fake firewood although the appearance is scene. Absurd then pay $15 dollars a day for an outdoor parking and not guarded!

Was attending for a wedding in Carmel, staff was extraordinary professional and responsive. Due to my age I have expireneced other hotels not recognize me as a guest and test with respect however at every Hilton I have received a sir at the end of every sentence. This is a beautiful refresher, and gesture of respect that I greatly appreciate. Rooms were clean well kept. Location had easy higheay access but did not have the notice that normally goes with being next to a high way. Would recommend to a friend.

The front desk was great! Room was clean and the bed was comfy! Firepit is perfect for star gazing and just relaxing. The breakfast rocked, omelets, waffles, bacon, sausage, potatoes, eggs etc all cooked great. Overall great experience!

Great breakfast with croissant french toast and corned beef hash — much more expansive than most HGIs. Parking is down below the hotel rooms, so views are much better than the standard HGI parking lot.

Clean rooms. Was able to do early check in. They were extremely accommodating. Only thing that I didn't like was no breakfast/lunch room service. But there was for dinner.

After staying the weekend it deserves a one star. Walls are thin you can hear everything! Rooms are outdated. If you are looking for a comfortable bed and peaceful night sleep, and free parking, this is not the place for you. We stayed at the comfort inn, in Monterey, free parking, free breakfast and cheaper. Also it was less noisy. Keep driving, speed if you have too, past this place.

Only stayed one night. Parking isn't free but there's an underground garage. Far from cannery row if that's your destination, but only like a 8 minute drive from there. Room was clean, but small. Working AC, nice bathroom. Water pressure dropped sometimes when showering, and there are no outlets near the beds, but those are minor complaints.

Nice hotel. A little on the older side and nothing fancy, but cozy and clean.

Extremely professional atmosphere. We also got to meet the general sales manager. He genuinely loves his job = great experience for all.

Staying with my wife after wedding night. They were somewhat useless when it came to providing my guests the reduced rate. Better communication would help immensely so they can provide the correct customer service they offer customers.

This hotel is near a highway entrance which makes it a convenient base to explore the area. The rooms are spacious and provide all standard amenities. The staff are friendly and attentivr.

This review is about the restaurant, Pacific Grille. Best kept secret in Monterey County. I am a local and have been going for breakfast here every Saturday for the last 4 years — that's how good it is! The buffet changes so I won't get into that all they have but know that the chefs Delfino and Arturo will make you an omelet from heaven! If they have it ask for the Croissant French Toast — it's amazing! Too bad they still don't do the Eggs Benedict (management should bring it back) because I've never had the like — more amazing! Staff goes over the top on service. Great food, great service. Doesn't get any better than that!

Very nice hotel, however shower was a bit wonky. Rates were reasonable for the time of the year and area. Would stay here again.

We were not impressed with the condition of the hotel or the service. We reserved a room for one price and when we arrived they wouldn't honor it.

Customer service is always great at the Hiltons. The parking in this particular Hilton was a bit confusing to navigate even though we arrived late in the evening. I would suggest either better direction or better signage around the grounds.

Great experience. Staff courteous and help full. Went during a peak weekend. Valentines hardtop finding parking. Circled 5 times finally a spot opened. Over flow parking was full I didn't want to walk so far Late night return. Everything else was good.

We stayed one night bound to LA Its a wonderful place to have a rest.

We have stayed here about 12-15 times in the last 17 years and this place continues to amaze us with its quality and service. Close to all the great places in Monterey but also easily accessible to the freeway. HHonors has not blacked it out yet for the weekend of the Big Sur Half Marathon even though the starting line is 400 meters away. Peninsula College is right around the corner if you want to jog up the street and do a track workout on their all-weather track.

I've gotta give this place five stars not because there was anything that made this hotel necessarily special or better than other Hilton Garden Inns or hotels of the same type, but because I had no issues with my stay. We stayed here for just one night and arrived at night and left early the next morning (for whale watching! ) I didn't have time to use the hotel's many facilities such as the pool, fitness area, or even hang out in the lobby. I went to sleep not long after arriving and woke just in time to have my complementary breakfast and checkout. The air conditioning worked fine, typical Hilton Wi-Fi, and the bathroom was seemingly clean. So like I said, no real issues, barely had any interactions with the staff so can't really base my review on that, and contrary to other reviews, I do think this property lives up to the Hilton Garden Inn name.

Not for a quiet retreat. They put us next to the exit. So we had to listen to everyone open and close the door. And drag luggage up and down the stairs. Got woke up to backup beeper on a delivery truck. We could of stayed elsewhere and saved money to not have peace and quiet.

Overall I really enjoyed my stay here. Although I only stayed one night, the room was comfortable, clean and the amenities were nice. The hotel has a bit of an older feel to it, especially in the hallways, however the rooms are nice and modern. The hotel is fairly spread out which is nice and has several pools, hot tubs and outdoor fireplaces. Our room was facing the golf course/parking lot so it was very quiet at night with no issues. There is a ceiling fan as well as a floor fan unit that was required to keep the room cool, but other than that, all was good. The drive into town (Cannery Row, etc) was pretty quick and certainly walkable. Staff were all very friendly.

Higher quality, quieter aircon than usual HGI. Ok free internet. Good, free parking.

My boyfriend and I were celebrating our 3rd anniversary (dating not wedding) and we were looking to get away for the weekend. We had not been to Monterey just the two of us so we decided to take a little trip. I am quite picky about my hotels. We figured because we weren't staying long that we would find a nice hotel maybe above our usual price range. We came across the Hilton Garden Inn Monterey and after looking at the pictures and reviews we couldn't wait to book! Even better our booking site had a special rate of $119 I believe. Hotel was beautiful, very modern, quiet although we were there during winter so it may not have been as busy. We are a bit younger then the usual cliental I assume so we constantly worry about being looked over but the hotel staff was great and very accommodating and even helped us find restaurants in the area. Beds were clean and comfortable, bathroom was a bit small but not bad at all. It's only about a 5 minute drive from Cannery Row. We will definitely stay here from now on.

Daniel at the front desk was welcoming, pleasant and extremely helpful. Josh at the bar was very friendly and attentive. The only complaint was from my wife, she thought the bar was a little cold. I thought it was fine. The rooms were the best nights sleep we've had in a long time. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return the next time we are in Monterey. Thank you to all staff.
