This property is absolutely gorgeous! The pools are beautiful for adults and family friendly! My grandchildren loved the kids buffet! Great value too! Access to beaches is wonderful! But, I want to share an experience with the extremely helpful stuff! We left a very sentimental item there and I know they went above and beyond to find it. Extremely grateful! Oh and those views 🤩

Went there for a conference and didnt stay all night. Staff was friendly and helpful. Meeting rooms were well set up. Everyone seemed to enjoy the beautiful buildings and the great view.

We loved the pools and the view of the ocean! Easter weekend was wonderful. Easter brunch and egg hunt are terrific for the kids.

Spent 1 night so we can babysit the grandkids while my daughter celebrated her birthday. Such a great time at the del Mar pool. Great staff. Breathe taking scenery. Will have to do an entire weekend next time.

Good extended brunch buffet, worth the $! Spa was ridiculously expensive considering there was no use of the locker rooms, sauna, steam room, or whirlpool. Couldn’t even take a shower or get a robe.

We had a great experience at the Laguna Cliffs Resort! My daughter especially loved all the kids club activities by the pool! She was a total fan of Riley! The whole staff was beyond accommodating and friendly. From the moment we were greeted by the valet guys, to the front desk girls, bartenders/servers by the pool, and pool attendants — our experience was great with them all! Couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful resort to stay at. Rooms, grounds, pools, and all surrounding areas were perfect. Thanks again!

The service in the bar was amazing. The bar tender Christine was a breath of fresh air and such a friendly lady. Very knowledgeable about the resort and surrounding areas.

The location is idyllic. Gorgeous views over Dana Point harbor. Food is quite good.
The pool area was very crowded on Saturday. The housekeeping left a lot to be desired — we had to beg for extra tea bags, creamer and water (! ) and the valet took 20 minutes to find our car?! WTF!?

I absolutely loved this resort and the service was incredible they treat you like royalty there! The rooms were cool, the view was awesome! This is my new favorite resort in Laguna! We were celebrating our one year anniversary and we will never forgot it! We will be back!

We had lovely stay — the valet staff were incredible (the literally ran to get the cars), the rooms were comfortable and clean, room service was great but pricey and the main pool was great (busy but still relatively quiet). The hotel also offers surfboard and bikes hire included which was a plus for us! Would have been 4 stars if the food and drinks (poolside, room service, etc) had been a little bit more affordable!

A consistent fun place for us to visit on a yearly basis. Make sure you ask for a room with a balcony as the "full ocean view" are only viewable through small windows. Great place for kids with a pool and several activities in a close-by area. Doheny beach just below the hotel is a great place for beginning surfers… But be careful as it's very rocky.

Great pool, great food, beautiful updated rooms, balcony was so nice to have! We used the free bicycles and surf boards. It was a very nice property to stay at with a gorgeous view of the ocean. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. We all enjoyed every moment of our time here! Thank you for the swift assistance when we had a small medical emergency. The loss prevention team was above and beyond when it came to customer satisfaction.

In an effort to grow and acquire signature Properties, the Marriott is lacking in keeping up with the Service and Standards it wes once known for. Having owned three Time Shares with the Marriott and been a long time Member of its Loyalty Programs, I am having second thoughts of continuing my patronage with them. I had a wonderful experience when staying at the Montage, a few miles from the Laguna Cliffs Marriott and the difference in Service and Hospitality, was night and day. Perhaps the Marriott should send its Senior Management Team to the Montage, so see what Quality Service is all about, and how it is done Right, the First time and Every Time.

Beautiful place. The location is outstanding, close to beach & harbor and lots to do in the area, all within walking distance. The resort property is beautiful, two nice pools and water views to die for.

So impressed with the staff here! First class. Especially the gentleman that checked us in. He asked what brought us here and told him that we were celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary and that 34 years ago we met here in Dana Point. He had a Anniversary gift waiting for us when we got done with the pool. Maclean Campbell you rock! That is taking customer service to the next level.

My husband and I live in Orange County and were looking for a night away from the kiddos — we chose this resort for the view and proximity to home. We were BLOWN away by the service at the pool, for such a young staff they were incredibly attentive with no pretension or entitlement. There are only 2 reasons why I didn't give 5 stars. 1. There was some sort of funky smell in the room when we checked in, it was air freshener or something so we did not raise the issue. 2. Valet parking is $37 — this seems a little outrageous considering the expense of the room, resort fee, etc. It would be great if self-parking was available. Despite these two reasons we will DEFINITELY be back!

This is a beautiful hotel, surrounded by breathtaking views of the ocean and green space. Several walking/jogging paths. The grounds are pristine and the service was wonderful. Every person from the valet to front desk check in to the pool staff was professional and friendly. The rooms were spacious and newly updated. Our only regret was that we could not stay longer.

So disappointed with our stay here Saturday night. First, our room smelled like rotten eggs upon arrival and housekeeping came and sprayed something which made it better (or we got used to it). But the main reason for our disappointment was our hope to spend a relaxing Father's Day morning on the balcony with coffee and breakfast. It was a beautiful day and before we even opened our drapes we heard loud chanting. We opened our sliding glass door expecting to feel warm breezes and the sound of the ocean but instead we heard chanting for the next four hours. Our room 305 overlooked a wedding that consisted of constant LOUD chanting for hours. Not only could we not keep the patio door open but there was no way we were going to sit outside on the patio because the chanting was definitely NOT what we wanted to hear. When we checked out I spoke with the Front Desk Manager and he said that because we hadn't called down to tell them we were unhappy that there was nothing they could do for us. I explained that we lived 35 minutes away but spent the night after an event thinking that it would be a perfect spot for a relaxing Sunday morning especially since it was Father's Day. He said again because we hadn't notified him, there was nothing he could do. I asked him what he would have done and he said they would have asked the chanting to be softer. Really? I so doubt that with the huge Indian wedding that was taking place!

Great location, views, and facilities. Two pools to choose from. One had some water play areas that the kids enjoyed. Staff were friendly and attentive. Rooms were nice, but the beds were a little firm. The only complaint I really have is with the parking situation. It's valet only ($37 a night), which, while is expensive, is fine. However, when you're arriving or leaving the hotel when a large event (wedding, etc. ) is starting or ending, the valet gets really backed up, and you end up having to wait a while for your car.

Well, I was down here for a managers meet for my company… I didn't pick the place, but judging from the room and overall venue, I'd call it a "four star" hotel… After a long (and fun! ) night, I happened to come down for a smoke (in their "smoking section") and found my truck parked in their registration/valet section. Totally unlocked and just sitting there… This was after I found it earlier in the evening in the same location. I tried the passenger door and found it locked, so I didn't really question it… It's been there all night and I just confirmed it was completely able to be parked in their valet parking. Fortunately, I know better to leave anything worth stealing in it (nor do I fear it being vandalized in Dana Point! ), but the principal of it…! Just wanted to share for future guests…

Very beautiful. Breakfast was amazing. The spa was great. I wish there was more at the spa like a private out door pool maybe there is a nice sitting area outside. The beds were also amazing room was very clean. Staff was very friendly. The conseirege Maggy was so helpful definitely stop to see her. I would give her a five star too.

The location and grounds are beautiful, but the service and room were quite poor. Not only was the experience sub par (see below for details), but the hotel's response to my feedback below was largely cold and indifferent. I would not recommend staying here. My experience: "The location, grounds, and outside building were beautiful. We especially liked the pools and surfboard and bike rentals. However, overall, our experience was significantly compromised for these reasons: I) Room not available on time. We called ahead in the morning and were told that we could check in at 3pm, an hour early. However, when we arrived at 3:15, our room was not ready. The front desk told us we could use the pool while we waited for the room to be cleaned. We were not contacted until 4:15 to check in, an hour and 15 minutes after our requested time. II) No bill and price higher than quoted. I did not receive a bill by email. In addition, my credit card was initially charged $40 more than I expected. III) Room cleaned before check out. We left the room for a bit on the morning of check out, and came back to find that someone was cleaning our room around 10, during the time we had hoped to shower and pack up our belongings before checking out at 11. We had to wait in the hallway for several minutes before we could enter the room. IV) Beds & room uncomfortable. Beds seemed smaller than queen size. The A/C didn't work well. We turned it as low as it would go, and the room still felt warm.

Nice hotel in a great location. We had one of the renovated rooms and it was excellent. The service at the valet and front desk was great. We stopped at the bar after the concert and there was good entertainment. The beer prices are typical hotel high prices.

Beautiful hotel with modern updated rooms in the San Clemente tower. We had an awesome coastal view from our room. The service was very good everywhere we went in the hotel. A special recognition for Micharl at the front desk. He was so professional. Explained everything well. Was friendly and very welcoming. Great first impression upon arrival.

My friend is staying here for a conference, and I came out to visit. Staff was great, both at the front desk and in the bar/restaurant! Hotel grounds are beautiful, and her room was newly remodeled. Everything was very nice.

I was a guest here overnight, and also volunteering and supporting a charity event recently. The front desk staff was great. The bar staff was friendly and great during our lunch. I had a lovely chat with the F&B Manager during my lunch, she was amazing. Unfortunately the rest of the management was curt, petty, unwelcoming and far from accommodating. One manager in particular, Brandon, was unnecessarily difficult, and made the mistake of treating myself and other volunteers like we were not his concern. Little did he know, we were all hotel guests as well. I was not alone with my feelings regarding the overall tone from management. It left such a bad taste in my mouth, that I didn't even stay the night, and just went home after the event. Never again, will I volunteer for this event if it will be held at this resort, and I certainly will never set foot on the property again. It is a shame, because in several years past, I enjoyed the hotel.

It is very nice, rooms are awesome, pool and Jacuzzi hit the spot Start off with drive up the drive way to the place and the view is amazing. Valley service only. Hotel doesn't seem like much but it is nice. Rooms are spacious and clean, housekeeping was friendly. The grounds are so well kept and scenery is amazing. Close walk to the shopping and restaurants. No complaints, I may be back. =)

This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen our been lucky enough 2 visit. The personal here r outstanding. From valet parking to my waiter. Everything about this place is breath taking. The cost yes. U deserve this kind of treatment.

I've started here multiple times with family, once for a girls weekend, and once for a professional retreat. This hotel has it all — a pool for kids, close to the beach, great love music at night and a nice spa. Our room had a balcony on the lawn with a view of the ocean. Only wish there were more local restaurants nearby — had to take a Lyft to some restaurants far away.

Old showers the motel six has better the room was set up for one even thou we were two I wine class no refrigerator only there mini bar but mine was unlocked could have taken anything I did not sign for the key, charged for valet even when we started to park off site was guided to there Valet where I was charged 30$ a day when I could have parked for free as we checked in we were hassled by the Manager for using a coupon and said we are doing us a favor like we were not important after $ 200 A night and that was a deal ++++ were treated like it was a privilege to be there the bar manager was on the ball, Kirk and there staf there is no food and overpriced everything was I figured they OWE me a credit of at least $ 300 dollars that is half and I have been here before beautiful place but just candy I have been in retail management for 30 years hire me and I would promote and fire the people that are overpriced like the place and get the right Upper management in place they have no clue how to treat a 4/5 resort and a waste of a beautiful place that should not be wasted. I could go on and on but because of a discount I will not speak anymore (The desk Manager I would fire!

We live in Oceanside, CA and last week Thursday we were evacuated from our home due to the Lilac Fires. Exhausted, not knowing what was going to happen and after no vancancies at 3 other hotels we ended up at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott. We received outstanding service! Richard at the front desk was kind and got us a room quickly and even offered a late check out so we had a little extra time to figure out what we were going to do and get some rest. The valet Blake was so very helpful and kind. They both showed great concern and caring for our circumstances. We can’t wait to be able to go back under better circumstances and enjoy this beautiful resort!

Amazing. The staff is awesome. From valet parking guys, check in people, to the bar tenders, room service & house keeping. Definatlty recommend. Much better service than the Ritz Carlton we stayed at in Denver 2 weeks ago. Service & accommodations worth coming back too. Great location! We are Marriott Members stayed 12/2-12/4.

The property is really nice and the room I guess was decent. However, the biggest issue was that my room didn't seem to to be cleaned at all. There's was candy stuck on the floor and a piece of hair in my tub. I didn't have a chance to switch my room or complain because I was running late to an event. With the amount of money that was spent on the room, I expected it to be cleaned to regular standards. Except I got worse. Don't know if I'll ever go there again… TBD.

The hotel property is beautiful. Woman at the front desk was very professional and friendly. She gave me a beautiful upgraded room with a great view of the harbor. Had drinks at the bar and it was a great embiance. Had meetings here and wasn't thrilled about the meeting space. We were a small group of about 15 people and they put us next to a very large group. The other group was so loud we had to ask to be moved because the noise carried so much from the other group.

Meanest nastiest valet service I have ever experienced. Fortunately the valet service is a separate business from the hotel because the hotel is beautiful… food is fantastic and the staff is wonderful. If you are just going there for dinner or lunch park in the parking lot below and walk so you don't have to deal with the miserable valet. The hotel is five star I only gave it four Star because if you are staying there you're stuck with the nasty valet service. It would behoove the hotel to make a change.

The hotel is gorgeous and the view from all over the grounds is breathtaking! There are two pools, one for adults and one for families. The family pool includes a really fun sprayground. There is also a putting green, tennis and ping pong available for entertainment. There is a daily resort fee that includes use of all these facilities and wireless internet. It also includes 2 free bike rentals for 2 hours each day! The one and only complaint I have is the $37 valet fee per day that is unavoidable because there is no other parking available nearby. So take that into consideration when figuring out your per night costs. This is in addition to the $25 a day resort fee.

We were in Vegas on Oct 1st and we were supposed to stay until the 3rd. Ultimately, we made the decision to leave Vegas early for a few different reasons. We didn't know where to travel to before catching our scheduled flight home and decided last minute on Laguna. It had been a long 24 hours and we didn't have any reservations. The gentlemen at the front desk were super friendly, accommodating, and sincere. After a long day, they made us feel comfortable. The accommodations were fantastic with the rooms being very clean. Everyone we came in contact with went out of their way to make us comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

The rooms are amazing! Stayed on the 4th floor with and the view of the bay was incredible. Tip… if you have the breakfast voucher, you can either use it at the buffet, or at the in hotel Starbucks. One day I went ahead and ordered a coffee for the morning, one for later, and some protein power bars to bring with me for the day since our group was in a rush to leave the hotel, and I wouldn't have time for the buffet. Great value!

The location for the hotel is beautiful. Dana Point was great. The hotel itself is very nice and very clean! Got in quite late, ordered room service, and had a delicious meal delivered to me very quickly. Only stayed for one night but had a great experience.

Its not a 5 star at all. They are debutant, the staff is untrained and they do not smile at you. No fridge in the rooms! (1st time I ever saw that). The kid pool was so gross that I didnt let my niece and son to swim there. Huge chunk of hair in their. We used the adult pool. The upper restaurant service was very unfriendly. The vue breakfast buffet was good and great service.
We will never come back.

Room was clean and comfortable and the AC worked amazingly well which at the time was critical since it was so hot. Lobby was very nice and modern and the grounds were also well kept. Pool had a pretty cool kids area and included a bar. Overall a nice hotel to stay in for sure and was very reasonably priced.

Stunning views and top-notch resort with excellent amenities. I stayed just two nights in Laguna Cliffs on business but wanted to take advantage of my downtime. Both days I used the Mountain Bikes provided by the facility to ride down to Dana Point beaches and rent a SeaDoo. The grounds are meticulously maintained and perks such as access to use the Tennis courts, Surf Boards, Bikes, etc. Ensure you get to enjoy the facility and the outdoors. This will be my go to location next time I'm in the Dana Point area.

Certainly is a great hotel and fantastic location, but beware of the parking scam that will cost you $40 ($37 plus taxes) a day. It says "Valet Parking" in the fine print, but doesn't say that you MUST use the Valet service if you want to park in the adjacent garage. Check-in staff gave me vague directions of where street parking was located and lied saying "there's only about 10 spots and if they're taken you're out of luck. " Gee thanks Marriott staff. In fact I had no problem finding a spot for free overnight parking on any of the days we stayed. If you choose to self park overnight, just be prepared for a very pleasant walk of 10 — 15 minutes. We did that and found much better ways to spend $200 than to give it to Marriott to valet park my car. This issue irritated me way more than it should have — but now it's off my chest! The other irritant was the noisiest room air conditioner you've ever heard and the fact that you could not have "fan on constant" all night, to provide some 'white noise' to cover the guests coming and going all night or the service corridor and elevator dinging. I should have asked to be relocated, but, after everything is all unpacked it is kind of a hassle.

Full or partial coast rooms with balconies and beautiful landscaping all around the resort. The pool was cool and the hot tub was hot. Plenty of lounge chairs as well as activities such as putting greens, corn-hole, and ping pong. They also had beach accessories and bike rentals included in the resort fee. Friendly staff topped everything off.

Laguna Cliffs Marriott is perfectly located on a hill that allows you a mini view to the pacific ocean. It is a beautiful place. I enjoyed it despite the short falls of expectations for being a Marriott Hotel. The hotel was short staffed and the cleaning staff did not make it to my room until 3 pm or after each day that I was there. The food is over priced for the quality of food. I did not like it. I highly recommend going down to the Harbor or driving 10 minutes to Laguna Beach for lunch and/or dinner.

The resort had a very pretty setting, the staff was super helpful. I thought the rooms would be a little more updated but the were still very nice. Had a great view of the ocean. It was closed to a lot of fun things to go do, or you did not even have to leave the resort. Very nice and relaxing!

Everything about this hotel was 5 star except for the shower. The shower head was awful. We really enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and restaraunt. The food was delicious and decently priced. We didn't get to try out any of the equipment available for use on resort but there is a great walking path.

We stayed at the cliffs for 5 nights and it was absolutely incredible from start to finish. We booked a different hotel closer to the airport for the last night and I am begging my boyfriend to stay the extra night at the cliffs. The staff was out of this world, all incredibly friendly and welcoming. They did whatever they could to make sure our trip was perfect. The valet service was exceptional, our car was always ready for us once we called ahead. The on site dining was out of this world, and our room package included a daily $25 food voucher that came in so handy every day. The hotel is extremely close to all the best beaches in Orange County, and Dana point itself was absolutely breathtaking. We will definitely be back.

We had an overall good experience here. My 1 concern is that there's no self-parking you have to valet park if you're going to stay here. The other option is to park clear down a hill and walk up 100 + stairs to get to the hotel and then you have to make the same trip back to your car. The conference that I attended here was very well done the accommodations were great and the hotel staff was fantastic. I would say that the Valley staff is one of the fastest that I've ever seen in my life they literally run to get your car and run back with keys and they are very efficient. I had a slight concern in my room and the hotel manager was quick to resolve it and to make sure that I was happy with the way it was handled. The resort overlooks the Pacific Ocean and has amazing views from several of the rooms. There are two heated swimming pools and lots of nice open area to enjoy relaxing. I would encourage the hotel 2 be more conscientious of the transient population that's nearby at the bottom of the hill around the base of this Resort it seems as though the transient population here is out of hand and that there aren't enough resources to take care of those that are a few hundred yards away from the resort. It just felt at times a little unsafe due to all of the transient activity and police activity with them near the resort.

We recently spent two days at this Dana Point property. An extraordinary stay! The views, the room, the bed, the food, both pools, the park area just below the property, the easy walk to the marina and restaurants were all surpassed by the service! Tiffany Coslett from the front office helped us through a Groupon nightmare and together with the front desk, bellman, valets, breakfast chef, and Simona who served us brunch were the very best team of hospitality professionals we've experienced in a long time. We live in Las Vegas, we travel extensively, and we work in hospitality. My companion's one word description of our stay at Laguna Cliffs Marriot — 'Blissful'. We only wish we could have gotten a room there for all three days of our weekend.

I only have one complaint and it is that the bed I slept on was like a rock even with the pillow-top cover on it. That aside, the service was excellent and the food and view were amazing. Spa services were a great experience and I received an incredible massage. I will be returning here not just with my wife but the rest of my family.

We stayed here for a week and overall I would prefer other places in the area. It is a hotel, not really what I would call a resort. We got food poisoning from a hamburger the first day, which started things a bit rough… and made us nervous to eat there again! Rooms are relatively small, but beds are comfortable. The place is clean. Views are very nice. The staff is pleasant. Mandatory valet is a drawback and time constraint, especially when going in and out several times a day. It is tough to walk anywhere from this resort. Had a massage at the spa, which started 15 minutes after the scheduled time and ended up costing 110$ more than advertised… for less than stellar services. And a tip of 20% is included in the bill… Would not recommend the spa at all. Overall nothing terrible about the place, but many things make it unlikely that we would return.

The hotel is located up on a beautiful hilltop overlooking the Dana Point harbor. The rooms are comfortable and come with balconies, making it even nicer. The service is excellent: 100% valet parking, friendly, attentive, and even surprising. We were celebrating a birthday and they brought up a card, an evening cake, and even a complementary breakfast down at their restaurant — — Vou. Overall, this place is a wonderful stay with excellent service. I hope to come again.

I've started at Laguna Cliffs Marriott several times for a company holiday party, and it is always fantastic. Valet parking is quick, everyone is helpful and friendly, and the food is good. The rooms are large and clean with great views, and the beds are very comfortable. I look forward to staying here every year!

We had a deal, and I really believed they treated us poorly because of that. They put us in the second closet room next to the ballroom. They had a wedding party there, music with the doors opened to the balroom continued late in the night. Called front desk a few times after 11pm. They didn't really addrss the issue. Also next door, they were part of the wedding, and they were loud and slamming door, talking loudly thru the night. Treated poorly, even with the discount it was pricey. Dont go there.

Beautiful location and vista, with excellent service and attention by most of the staff. Only issue we had was that because of an event held during our stay, tennis courts were used as a parking lot. Having a tennis court on the premises was one of the main reasons we chose the resort, so that was a bit off putting. Luckily, there was one of the best public tennis courts we played on just half a mile from the hotel. The other amenities were quite nice, and the spa was very private and relaxing. We look forward to the next time we spend a local weekend getaway there.

Do not stay at this hotel if you are at all "ethnic. " There was so many things wrong with our stay that I don't know where to start. 1) Guaranteed check is at 4 pm. We attempted to check in at 4:15 but did not get to our room until 5.2) The room we booked was at the highest level, we were told the wait was because there were so few. It was a small room, next to elevator with one window to high up for my kids or my wife to see through, to the full ocean view that was obstructed by a tree! 3) Paid $360.00, so it was not as if we were bargain shopping. 4) We tried to make the best of it and took kids to pool. We arrived at 5:45 and all pool services stopped at 6pm, save for towels. 5) Pool was cooled and did not look clean. 6) Eat dinner on site in outdoor patio. Food was late, undercooked, and uneatable. 7) Dinning patio furniture is old and weathered, which is fine but no effort is made to clean seagull poop, 8) How do you mess up a Mohito… use wilted blackened mint. 9) Bed comfortable, put pillows horrendous, asked for pillows. Took 40 minutes to get them, after three calls, and when we finally got pillows and kids finally asleep, they called the room to see if we got pillows and woke everyone up. 10) I was exhausted in AM 11) As an accommodation for our horrible experience, we were told they would waive the resort fee and the valet parking fee. All told about $55 about 10% of our checkout bill of $540.00 for a one night (18 hour stay.

Overall a decent hotel but frustrating Valet, service wasn't great, and location wasn't ideal. I arrived at the hotel, having only used a Valet service a few times in the past, and was immediately given a very rushed feeling. The valet people were obviously in a hurry and were not very friendly, and neither was the front desk staff. Be advised that valet is required and is not optional, and adds and additional cost. All things considered, the service was decent, and the room was nice and clean, so I would return to this hotel again — but it's important to be aware of what you're getting into.

We arrived at the beautiful Laguna Cliffs Marriott, but when we went to check in at the front desk, they were unable to locate our reservations, thats because I mixed my dates up and scheduled our trip for 3/22/15 instead of 3/29/15, which means we were a no show for our reservations, my error. Thankfully we had the help of Aldfo, who went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and not charged for my mistake. The hotel was beautiful, but the customer service from Aldfo was superior, thanks for going the extra mile. I would recommend this hotel completely on the service I received! Thank you so much, we look forward to staying at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort again, I promise to arrive on the correct date next time.

We stayed there for a large group meeting. The food was excellent, even the lunch buffet, I was very impressed. The views and accommodations are great. Rooms very clean and with nice ocean views. The staff was very curious and they did a great job. The reason I am going to give them a 3-star rating is because, just like other reviews, they seem to either intentionally (or by mistake) charge for extra things that they shouldn't. I don't usually look at my bill but I happened to because the only thing I was supposed to be charged for was a bottle of water. When I saw a $80 bill I questioned it. Parking was already charged to our corporate account, ok I might bye that one, my mini bar bill was $45 and all I had was a bottle of water. Another interesting point. I called the front desk because I needed hair gel, they brought it over fast and I was very impressed. Ironically I was the leader of this group of 35 people and that morning started off with a discussion about companies with excellent customer service and I used this as a great example. The disappointing part was I noticed on my bill I was charged $3.75 for a tiny bottle of hair gel. I did finally get in touch with someone and they did rectify the bill (except for the water and hair gel) which was a decent recovery. My suggestion is to closely look at the bill and be prepared for $35 parking fee, their version of a resort fee. It is indeed a great venue.

Nice resort with great views. However not too happy that on top of the cost of the room, you are charged $59.50. $32 because you HAVE to valet your car. And a $27.50 "resort fee".

Terrible first impression! Laguna Cliffs Marriott valet service is the worst! Upon arrival, the valet insisted on my car keys before check in. I explained that we had been to the beach and needed to fix our luggage before it was removed from the car. The valet assured me that he would keep the car out front and we could take care of our luggage after check-in. Check-in took about 3 minutes. When we returned, we found all of our unpacked luggage (individual pieces of clothing, personal items, etc. ) being removed from the car and put onto a luggage cart! What an embarrassing experience!. And it only got worse from there. As a Marriott Platinum Elite member, it isn't my first experience with valet service. But it was the worst.

Price Gouging at its Finest. I would like to know why it is legal to charge someone for services they do not get! Imagine going into a department store and buying a shirt and being also charged for a pair of pants. Yo say, "But I did not get any pants,. " They say well, we charge for pants whether you get any or not because we also have pants in the store. " Marriott, but I did not use your Resort for services, I had a business meeting and we did not use surfboards. Well, we charge you for the surfboard anyway.

Beautiful place to stay and great food.

I stayed here for a wedding in late October, I will say that until checkout everything was pretty nice. A bit annoying that there is no parking and you have to valet ($30), but whatever I knew that going in. Upon checking out I noticed a $250 fee added on my room, so I contacted the operator and was transferred over to the hotel manager. She (I wish I could remember her name) informed me that the charge was for smoking on my hotel patio. She goes on to tell me that I was warned three times for smoking on the patio. Simply false, nobody ever mentioned anything to me about smoking, one big reason for this? My wife and I do not smoke. I should point out that security did talk to me more than once for noise (I had a bluetooth speaker in the room), so I believe this is why the charge was added and it was disguised as a 'smoking fee'. I assume they have no policy in place to charge people for having a blue tooth speaker on and as such decided to slap me with the smoking fee. Anyways, after trying to speak with the manager cordially for ~10 minutes and coming to the realization that she wasn't going to take the charge off, I got pissed and let her have a piece of my mind. At this point, she says "if you were a little nicer to me I would have taken off the charge". I've disputed the charge with my credit card company and have now filed a complain with the BBB.

Love the area — Dana Point is fabulous. Spent the first of 3 nights here — Uncomfortable mattresses — bow in the middle. They have offered to inspect and change. Will keep posted on this. This is a valet only property — so be prepared to pay $32 + tips per night in parking Add $25 per night in resort fees.

I really like the customer service at this Marriott. They went out of their way to find me an ocean view room to celebrate a special occasion and also worked with me to fit it into my budget. We sat on the balcony and watched the sunset, walked everywhere we needed to go, and overall had a wonderful time. The experience inspired me to decide to use Marriott everywhere I go. It seems like they put a special effort into truly listening and trying to "get" the one or two things that are most important to each customer. It's not that the hotels are perfect — it's just that extra care that I sense — and I also sense that this kind of customer service is becomming more rare. It's SO nice to receive. Thank you — we really appreciated it.
