This place is a hidden gem! By far our favorite place to stay when visiting our son on Southern California: The rooms, staff, food, and guest service was first rate. We will definitely be returning on our next visit.

Stayed 1/4/19-1/6/19 celebrated my husbands birthday. They provided our room with a birthday note upon arrival with champagne and chocolates. Big jacuzzi tub, nice complimentary warm robes. Excellent customer service, and even when there was a mishap on my husbands birthday they went out of their way to make things right. The only drawback was breakfast was just okay which was odd because everything else is so fabulous. They even have a wine, olive, crackers & cheese happy hour every day! Would definitely recommend to all my friends.

Just checked in yesterday for 5 nights stay. Location is perfect, amazing view of Pacific ocean and Dana Point Harbor. We arrived a day early, the hotel was able to change our reservation. I choosed a botique hotel instead of big hotels due to my limited mobility. I reserved the Pacific Edge room hoping that I can have the view of the Pacific Ocean. I am disappointed, room 105 view is mostly the bushes and privacy wall. I am short so sitting in the small patio does not help with the view. I am able to see the water if I stand in front of the door. The room is nicely decorated but it has stairs (2) As you enter the room, going to the bathroom and shower. A little challenging with my limited mobility. The room is a little tight but it has character. I will only stay here again if I know I will have the room with no stairs and a full view of the ocean and the harbor.

The view was amazing the room was gorgeous, the food was wonderful for breakfast the next morning we loved everything about it and would recommend it to anybody! Extremely romantic place!

Well, I walked my dogs by this place for the past 20 years. I've never been inside and never stayed there. However the location is excellent, the views from some rooms must be fantastic because it overlooks the harbor, and it seems like a nice quiet well run place. In fact you can see inside the lounge area from the street and the lounge area looks really nice.

This place is beautiful and so relaxing. Great for a romantic getaway. The breakfast is really nice, and the afternoon wine and cheese social is very well done.

This is our second time here and again, it did not disappoint. The views are magnificent, and the rooms are beautiful! The breakfast and wine hour in the afternoon are top notch. This inn is about 10 minutes from Laguna Beach and overlooks Dana Point Harbor. We love the small “bed and breakfast feel” of the Blue Lantern Inn! We can’t wait to come back again very soon!

Great location. Staff is super friendly, and everything was very clean. The wine hour is a lot of fun, the wine and snacks are both very tasty. The breakfast is the best buffet I've had at a hotel. As an electric car nerd, my only complaint; there was no place to charge my car. The parking lot had electricity in it, if you could just add a few outlets it would be nice.

One of my most favorite places to stay in the world. Have been here many times celebrating many occasions. Love the warmth of the staff.

A cozy place tucked close to the water, beautiful architecture with wonderful amenities including a jacuzzi and a fireplace in the units. Balconies and high-cielinged rooms with a very contemporary flair. No additional parking fee, free continental breakfast, free Wi-Fi are some of the perks. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance, and Dana Point being known for a variety of good places to dine, this place is a gem if you want to stay in the area.

If you want amazing views and friendly service, then this is the perfect place. When I had arrived they were in the middle of their Happy Hour and were nice enough to leave some items out a little longer so that I didn't have to rush to eat or drink. They also leave out cookies, tea, and coffee in the evening so I sat and had a cup of decaf and ate a cookie by the fireplace in the Library and watched some TV in there before bed. Overall a very relaxing experience and it feels like a second home to me now. I will be coming back soon!

I went for work so I didnt stay but I wished I had. It was adorable with a ton of natural light in the rooms. My client had a water view and it was amazing.

My wife and I drove up from San Diego to spend a one night get away at the Blue Lantern Inn and had a great time. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. They helped us chose a nice restaurant for dinner and even called to make the reservations for us. Our room was very comfortable with a great view of the harbor and ocean. The next morning we went for a nice walk and came back to a hearty breakfast with plenty to eat and enjoy. Overall we had a wonderful time and will be back again.

I wish I could give 6 stars. The hotel is immaculate, the service is excellent. The rooms were amazing. There is an hors d'oeuvres hour at 4:30 perfect for watching the sunset in February. We added an extra day at the end of our stay and were unable to keep the same room but the hotel staff handled moving all of our bags for us which was amazing. Given a choice take one of the first floor harbor view rooms, you have a semi-private patio and amazing view.

We had a wonderful time there! The rooms were nice and spacious. The complimentary happy hour and breakfast was great! They also had free beach cruiser lenders!

Stayed here for two nights in January for our honeymoon. Extremely clean and cozy rooms, has fireplace, huge jacuzzi tubs, gorgeous view and patio area overlooking the marina and ocean. Very generous breakfast with really great food — also wine and cheese/ pastries/ cookies/ appetizers in the afternoon. Can rent bikes for free and have lots of games. Would highly recommend for romantic getaway for younger or older couples.

My wife and I just returned from a week stay at the Blue Lantern Inn in Dana Point, and what a good week it was. The Blue Lantern Inn deserves 5 stars, from the moment we checked in (early) to the lovely note they left for my wife on her 30th birthday to the surprise champagne they left for us on our last night! Every staff member we interacted with was fantastic, and the room was great! We look forward to going back!

Breathtaking location; room with a fabulos view; helpful, courteos staff; best seats for viewing the Dana Point Christmas light boat parade; awesome walking trail around; all in all, the most awesome experience; would recommend it highly! Love the ambiance. No in house restaurant so no room service BUT the atmosphere is so peaceful and beautiful that those amenities don't matter. They do offer breakfast and late afternoon wine and hors d' oeuvres which is so wonderful with with the perfect view. Will stay again.

My family, I and our out of town guests stayed here for our wedding week and we were so beyond happy with Carmen and Kelsey and the entire staff at Blue Lantern Inn. My family and guests couldn't stop telling us about the wonderful gem in Dana Point. I stayed in the Tower Suite
And it was exceptional and the views were breathtakingly beautiful. My bridal party and MakeUp Artist were amazed they had never seen this beauty while coming to Dana Point. The provide a full on breakfast that is simply outstanding.
We are planning to stay here for any special occasion that comes around. Thank you Blue Lantern for making all of us feel like Royalty

An amazing place. Super recommend.

We stayed in a Harbour facing room with a balcony. Great view. Included breakfast was pretty good, and the location is nice in terms of things to do.

We were looking for a last-minute getaway for Labor Day weekend and didn't want to go too far from LA. I was able to find this place and they actually had room still left. By the time we got there they were already sold out. The property is very nice and clean and it's on a hillside above Dana Point Harbor with awesome views if you get a room on that side of the property. We got a first-floor property and it said partial-views but it actually had a patio that was shared with the other rooms that you can go out and still have an awesome View for a lower price than the balcony ones above. They have cheese and wine in the early evening and they also have a buffet-style breakfast in the mornings. Our room came with a jacuzzi tub and it was the lower-priced room too. I highly recommend this place for a getaway. And it's close to many restaurants that you can either walk or drive to Doheny State Beach is pretty close about a mile and a half or so away and you have the marina down below the cliffs. And there's two restaurants literally right next door around the corner including the Chart House.

The Blue Lantern Inn is the best B&B in Dana Point! Friendly and courteous staff, beautiful rooms, spectacular views, lovely breakfasts each morning and wine and cheese each afternoon all included in the cost of your stay. Additionally, they have massage services and a gym. This place is place is spectacular!

It is located high on the bluff over looking Dana Point. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The rooms are large and have nice balconies. The location is quiet and relaxing. The home cooked breakfasts are wonderful. The photo was taken from our balcony.

My family and I have stayed at this Inn several times in the last few years and we absolutely love it. The last time was in March 2017. The rooms are large and the view from the hotel is breathtaking. The breakfast is very good and the area is beautiful with so much to do by the the ocean. I would recommend this Inn to anyone visiting the area.

Small hotel on the cliff over looking Dana Point harbor. Easy walking distance to restaurants. Afternoon wine and cheese. Nicely done breakfast. Clean and comfortable rooms. Great staff.

The staff, rooms, and breakfast were very nice. As was our view from the room. However, the water in our shower smelled like sewage, the water pressure came and went, and the temperature was unstable. For the price, the lack of pool or jacuzzi was a bummer. Overall I'd say it is a nice hotel, but not worth the asking price. Again though, the staff were really wonderful.

If u go to Dana Point or south Laguna if u stay anyplace else ur missing out. We have traveled many places and BLI rates in the top 3. We went with friends for 2 nights and 4 of us agreed this was first class. Will request our room on our visit next year. Rooms were huge. Quality of complimentary breakfast has to b experienced. This isn't your typical "breakfast included". Each night 4:30-5:30 complimentary wine, cheese and other delicious offerings. Top quality. Grab the afternoon cookies by the front desk early. They will b gone quickly. Staff here can't do enough for u. Bobby at the front desk couldn't have been more welcoming. He treated every guest as if they were the only guest. Lin the GM and Dir of Ops greets you each morning as if ur in her home. Can't wait for all the guests to return. The staff is knowledgeable about things to do and can offer restaurant recommendations and make reservations for u. Place is in the best location. With all the challenges of finding top notch staff they've done it. I could go on and on. Don't miss the chance to stay here and no place else and choose ocean/harbor view with a balcony. Thanks to all for making our annual Dana Point trip fabulous.

Nice and spacious room and bathroom. Great breakfast included with stay in the morning. Convenient location to surrounding beaches, etc.

Not thrilled so far. Checked in went to the balcony, there is some kind of restaurant nextdoor with a huge party. Extremely loud, I couldn't even hear my wife talking to me when we were sitting on the balcony. Made it impossible to enjoy the mediocre view of an industrial building, parking lot and a dirt cliff with a road. Oh, a very very partial view of a harbor. For this much money, I expected so much better! The second night wasn't any better. If you decide to stay here, make sure your room is not on the north side! That is where the restaurants are that have parties. They are supposed to be quiet by 10pm, but by the time everyone leaves it is like 10:30 or 11.
The staff here is mixed. Some were quite helpful. Some where quite lazy. I asked for instructions for the bath oils and salts for my wife, they said it should've been in the box, they were not. She then said just pour it in the tub of water. I said there were 3 things in there and asked if my wife I'd supposed to do all three or what. So instead of getting me the instructions, I had to look it up on the Internet. One of the morning staff must've been having a bad day, and made sure everyone knew about it, very rude and almost scowling. I asked her if there were going to be more pancakes coming out, she said "yup" and walked away.
The blankets on the beds are one step softer than cardboard (where are the super soft down comforters? ). The patio had a huge crack directly outside the door.

Absolutly the best stop on our whole trip! Amazing fresh breakfast and the added bonus of wine and evening snacks (4:30-5:30) provide excellent value. The room and terrace views where superb as well as the front desk staff! Well done!

The Blue Lantern Inn is a lovely property with great views of the ocean, and a fantastic breakfast. But for the price, I might look around for something more affordable. The room we stayed in was extremely comfortable, with a great bed and very nice layout. The bathroom was large and very clean. The inn is very nicely located in Data Point, with some nice cliff walks up and down to the water and the wharf. If you have the budget, the Blue Lantern is a great choice.

No extra touches or special amenities. Great location. High price. Clean. I expected aa Romantic Bed and Breakfast, but I got a Very Nice Hotel experience.

We were very satisfied with our stay at the blue lantern inn. From our arrival to our departure the staff were incredibly friendly. The hotel was clean, well decorated and has a warm atmosphere. Our room was spacious and played well into the costal vibe. We were able to score their one dog friendly room and bring our pup along. Our patio opened to the common patio and the view of the harbor was beautiful, especially at sunset. We were very pleased with the complementary cheese and wine hour when we arrived, the selection of cheeses was very generous. Everything was very nice, but for the price we did not feel that the amenities were really there to deserve a 5th star. We were disappointed with the breakfast, online they tout their cookbook, and it ended up being barely more than continental. Perhaps our expectations were heightened by the wine and cheese the day before. We felt there were also minimal in room amenities. We don't know what we were expecting but again for the price we paid, I guess we got our expectations up to be wowed. Overall we would absolutely stay again, but for the price we might shop around.

The woman at the front desk was very friendly and efficient. The room was comfortable, clean, well decorated (but not overdone the way some seaside inns can be) and quiet. The bed was so comfortable! Highly recommended.

Went there on our honeymoon and everything about it was perfect. Great breakfast buffet all morning, then hors d'oeuvres during a 2 hour time frame in the afternoon. Our first night there the AC went out so we called the front desk and within minutes they had moved us to an upgraded room and gave us a discount for that night. Beautiful view over Dana Point Harbor. Quaint, cozy feel. Lots of amenities. If you need anything, just ask the front desk and they will help you out. Great getaway place.

Would not recomend this place at all. We stayed in the tower last night. 400+dollars and couldnt get to sleep because of the rediculously loud music next door. Called and complained nothing was done. Called the manager this morning and she offered half off! I was insulted. I called several hotels at 11:30 PM AND WITH NO VACANCY WE Checked out and drove home to AZ on no sleep. 8 HOURS! Fireplace had one glass door, no telescope, no room service-hores de vores were served unchilled on a table ad says provides sodas, they were warm and you had to go downstairs if you wanted anything. Hotel was hot no A/C until you went into your room with paper thin walls and turned it on. Then you couldnt hear your TV because it was too loud. Patch painting all over the room carpet was filthy. Chairs stained bed un dusted. Really not impressed at all.

Beware! We stayed at the Blue Lantern with another couple and their room was broken into while we were at dinner and my friends jewelry was stolen! No forced entry, so very suspicious. Don't take your valuables or leave them in your room. Nice they give complimentary soft drinks, but can't believe they charge for bottled water! Tacky considering the price of the rooms. First night dinner at Cannon's was a disappointment. Terrible service and the food was marginal at best. Second night dinner at the Chart House was excellent, although that is when the jewelry was stolen.

We checked in on a Tuesday and got the pacific edge room So awesome. It overlooked the Cannons patio and Dana Point harbor. The front desk made reservations for us at Cannons and we got a great spot and the food was wonderful. Walked to Henneseys for drinks, perfect night. Next day went surfing,, then walked to the Chart House which was next door to Cannons. What a night. Aaron from the Blue Lantern made our reservations, getting us the VIP treatment. We had many surprises awaiting us at dinner. Cam back got some DVDs from the hotel library and drank wine from the hotel lobby! I just got home and have already booked two more trips for family to go there. Will DEFINITELY return! Only regret is that we didnt visit Bellas Bazaar on the corner. Place looks really neat.

The Blue Lantern is a charming inn with a great view. Is it worth the cost to say there though, I'd say not. The customer service was horrible as well. They were rude and unaccommodating — especially given it was our wedding night. Needless to say, we won't be back. I wouldn't recommend this place especially since there are so many nicer hotels in the area for the same price OR LESS.
