Rooms are run down, not that clean. Too much noisy as well. Service is slow. Plumbing issues as well. Expensive parking. I will not go again.

It was a nice quiet stay, close to many things. I reccomend the sunset deck which they dont really tell you about. At the staff were kind. The room was super clean.

Good-First time we had the suite. 2 balconies with ocean views. One with the four top table and a chaise lounge!
Totally redone room with fireplace. Huge bathroom with beautiful tub & wall of teal tile! Comfy king bed, nice fluffy white comforter. Pull out bed for kiddies. Dogs welcome. 2 flat screens we never turned on. Frig & large area to put snacks & food.
Pool area open until 830 only. At the entrance of the hotel there’s a few tables and some fire features which is nice to sit out if you get to go food!
Only downside with Covid, neither of the restaurants are open up. No microwave in your room you have to go down to the little gift shop and do it. No fresh baked choc chip cookies.
The only thing that drove me crazy as we never had enough towels hand towels or bath towels in the room. There also or no pool towels when my kids went to the pool. They asked for them and they never came.

We checked in, our room was dirty! Hair all over the bathroom and sand on the sofa bed with dirty sheets. They changed us to another room after we complained. 2nd room carpet smelled like vomit, bathroom was dirty. We had to go buy cleaning supplies to disinfect the room. The doors to every single room slam loud every time they close so it kept us up most of every night. The Wi-Fi was a nightmare.! Parking is over priced, like really over priced. Only good thing we could cross the street to get the beach. But front desk was no help. This place is a mess. We will be calling the diamond number for sure. Don’t waste your money on this hotel!

Very clean updated, modern rooms, spacious, bed comfortable, large shower good water pressure and the staff here is very curtious and have gone above and beyond there duty, didn't seem as if it was a job to them they enjoy the job they have… 5 star highly recommend oh great ocean view from the balcony also, Doheny Beach 400 ft away.

Had a Christmas party here and everything was perfect! Everyone was so helpful and accommodating and food was DELICIOUS!

1st off, getting here is extremely odd. Secondly the bathrooms are poorly engineered, it's impossible to turn on the shower without getting wet and the shower doors do not close properly because I think they tiled over old tile. The lights on the vanity do not work for anyone over 5' 10. The restaurant food is OK but very overpriced. They are constantly out of beer that is on the menu. Your view is of a RV/trailer park and then the ocean. The elevators are extremely slow. The ice machine on the 3rd floor is down. Morning coffee cost $4 flipping dollars. You pay for what you get here in Dana Point.

Friendly staff, clean, close to beach, restaurants, etc. All in all a nice place, they allow pets which was a huge plus for us. Room service not so good, took quite awhile but good was just barely warm when delivered. Will try restaurant next time.

My daughter stayed here with her infant son. Though I live in the area it was really hot and she wanted air conditioning because of the baby. And since she was travelling on business, she got a room here for a few days. Everything was great until the original checkout. Things were going so well that she decided to stay another night and arranged with the front desk to do so. Then in the middle of baby's nap time (don't mess with nap times! ), housekeeping walks in. No knock at the door, just walks in. Housekeeper says she should be gone. Wakes the baby. Gets the baby back to sleep. Next comes the housekeeping supervisor. No knock again, just barges in. He puts on a show and when told of the extension of her stay he claims he knows nothing about that. He states that my daughter needs to work this out. No, this was clearly a breakdown in communication among staff. You work it out. Not her problem. Baby wakes up again. Don't mess with my daughter or her baby, especially the sleep schedule. She now takes up the issue with hotel management. They're very sorry. Stay another night on us (but you have to change rooms). I don't know what happened about the free night's stay but all she got out of it (besides a cranky baby) was a $100 gift card. Woopee! She let it go. Life's too short.

Great location across from Doheny State beach. Room and hotel were clean, well maintained. Best in room coffee I have ever had period. The hotel staff were all very personable and eager to help.

Hotel room was great. Valet was great. Erin at the front desk left us sitting waiting until 3 to check in. This was after asking us if we wanted to upgrade and our room is ready. The upgraded room had two double beds so we declined. We sat down and Erin left for the day. After that I noticed people coming in and checking in. I told my wife to go up and see what was going on. The rooms were ready and Erin never told the incoming staff that we were waiting. Very poor customer service on her part. The rest of the staff were excellent.

Oh how I wish I could write an awesome review. Your pool is the most perfect temperature. Your rooms are delightful. The front desk staff ok and your location is perfection. But dear lord baby Jesus, your wedding guest are the worst humans in all the land. Don’t put families as in the same area as wedding guest blocks. I was kept up all night by these partying idiots and had to call down to the front desk and have security sent up. While people who can’t hold their liquor are not created by you, you should have thought twice about putting us next to this group who took up the entire 4th floor. Thanks for taking the movie off my bill though.

If you are thinking of staying or booking or even passing by from this place DON'T. You better of finding a nice motel than this place. Unprofessional staff (manager) and dirty sheets and makeover motel looking place. They charge $25 per night for parking and kid pool no bigger than a jacuzzi. Pictures online have nothing to do with the hotel I would like to congratulate the photographer who made this place look something else this is a real success. We had to check out on the same day because my girlfriend had rushes all over her body and the manager just laughed at us and said what do you want me to do you probably brought this over to the hotel. He also tried not giving me a receipt when we were checking out. I wasted my 3 day weekend with this place hopefully this review can help you to not.

Complimentary breakfast was tasty with many options. Wifi was complimentary, the rooms were clean and spacious, and the ocean view was great. We brought our dog as the hotel is dog friendly and had a great time.

You are paying for location, but even the location was not that great. We were disappointed with this hotel. We booked a Deluxe Oceanview Room. It was toward the ocean, but it was a street view and view of the campground. Certainly not “Oceanview”. The marketing pictures for this hotel make the rooms and hotel property look a lot better than it is. Reading others reviews they seem to like it. The two nice things about it for us was that it is dog friendly and our room was clean. If you are traveling with your dog It will do. If you are looking for a nice beach, marina, or ocean front hotel. This isn’t it.

This hotel has a great location just across the street from Doheny State Park. This is a very family-friendly area, and the hotel is as well. The pool is rather small, and the property has sort of a sprawling layout. The rooms are quite large and comfortable. My only gripe is the $25 per night parking fee. The staff at this hotel always goes above and beyond to make sure that I am satisfied with my accommodations. One of my favorite things about staying in this hotel is the smell of campfires coming from the Doheny State Park campground. Great location, good value, don't forget about the $25 per night parking fee when planning your visit.

Excellent place, comfortable and clean, beautiful view to the ocean.

The hotel was under construction so we could not order room service. Ended up having to go out for food even though we were tired from our flight. Was told there was no cable either but found out there was on the 2nd by a colleague. There was something clogged in my toilet and I had to change rooms late at night because they didn't have anyone to unclog it. Pipes smelled bad. The room was clean and they provided fresh water in the lobby at all times.

Great location. Beautiful view! Beach is just a walk away. Beds are amazing as well as pillows only thing is if your allergic ro down.

A great hotel with nice service and a perfect location. The only downside is the loud train that runs right behind the hotel.

Rooms are a little small, but clean and friendly staff. Nice location to beach and restaurants. Not really conducive to walking around though due to road layout. Beautiful views from rooftop bar. It really is just for the odd location which when you will get here you will see that makes it a little imperfect. I am a repeat guest though so it is definitely a good place. Good bang for your buck.

The bedrooms with a view of the sea are beautiful.

Their pool is ridiculously small and no hot tub. The rooms were okay and even though I had an ocean view, most of it was the side of the building. The hotel is literally next to the highway so you will hear a lot of traffic. $25 to park was crazy, especially for what little beach front they have. The breakfast consisted of non perishables, so needless to say I had to stop somewhere else and buy breakfast. For the price of this hotel, I’d recommend somewhere else. Definitely not worth the money.

Hotel was great and the rooms were very clean and rather large for a hotel room. The staff was very friendly and enjoyed the roof top bar. Definitely would stay again if I'm in the area.

I was there for a presentation and didn't stay in the hotel. Nice location across the street from Doheny Beach. The staff was young and enthusiastic. The hotel produced box lunches for the attendees that included a really nice sandwich, chips, cookie and banana. My only complaint would be the minimum $15 parking for a 2 hour visit.

The bathroom needs a new toilet (we had to pour water in it to make it flush), new faucet and toilet paper holder (both are rusted and old), and you can hear the AC when you take a shower — weird. The fridge we had to play with to get it cold enough. The screen slider was broken. The couch bed was very uncomfortable. The noise level was very loud at night til 11pm (on a main road and the bar on top of the hotel attracts drinkers). WE FOUND AN OPEN BOTTLE OF HARD LIQUOR ON THE FLOOR WITHIN REACH OF OUR 2 and 6 YEAR OLDS! We told a front desk gal and the manager was in the office and she told her, but she did not come out and apologize. All they offered us was free parking ($75) and 40, 000 Hilton Points for one free night's stat later. They did not seem too alarmed which was very hard for us to understand. :/

Just steps from the beach this is an old property with a modern-day flair. Locating this property is a snap using Google Maps but whatever you do don't blink as you'll drive right by this property. Parking is a breeze but $25 a day parking fee with no extra charge for valet is slightly more than pocket change. There are four dedicated disabled parking stalls with easy access. From driving in, to checking in you are greeted by a ten-stars staff on a five-star scale. My stay was in the Pacific Suite which certainly gained me points with Mrs. Grumpy as the soaker tub was the highlight of the suite. During my stay the on-site restaurant was closed for remodeling. Although there is a large variety of great restaurants just steps away from this property I think it would be unsafe or an uncomfortable stroll to any of the nearby restaurants because of the geographical layout of the road system. This property has a ton of amenities which is well described in the earlier reviews. I did note this property has subtle hints of deferred or shorted maintenance that really shows off the properties age. Simple repairs like reinstalling the ice machine metal mesh to set the ice bucket on while getting ice is overlooked. This was a note I made from the fourth floor ice machine and at minimum the cleaning staff or a sharp maintenance supervisor should have detected this issue before me.

The hotel pool was small and over run by at least 50 children under the age of 4. The pool area was filthy. Food everywhere on the ground. The pool was actually green for the excess urine from the kids. The air conditioner did not work in the room. The front desk staff were not helpful. The restaurant had a fire a week or so ago and was closed. I do not recommend this very expensive hotel.

Wow. Was just treated like I was anything BUT a paying customer. I have stayed in some horrible hotels but never one as bad as this. 3 women up front acted as if my questioning a 20 dollar 2 cup of coffee pot was the end of the world. I am a a guest who paid quite a lot of money to stay in a less than sub par room. Bugs flying all over the room and literally waking up to bug bites. We order room service every morning and it's actually one of our special traditions that we enjoy so much. We ordered a pot today (17.25) we got a 2 cup pot and a mug with cream inside… this mug must have been used because they ran out of the cream holders? Anyways, these 3 women up front took to acting like means girls and it was first day of school. So rude, unprofessional and worst of all, they did nothing to make it right. I have traveled from Colorado to California 7 times in 2016 and this is my second trip since 2017. I have stayed in Hilton hotels ALL 9 times and although we have had issues 3 times before we decided to give them another try. We picked this hotel for its beach views and ambiance. We have not seen the ocean once from our hotel because not only were we not given the ocean view we requested, the gorgeous ocean view bar (whole reason we got this hotel) was not open to guests because there was a private event. Hmmmm… this ocean view bar is the first photo you see when looking through the hotel photos and it's def why I chose it. Big mistake : (

Burn Local, near all the attractions. The unicorn problem is that they charge per day to park your car when it should be included with the hotel fee. They also don't have free breakfast. Too bad.

Walking distance to the beach… so nice However… can we please stop with the over restriction on water. I know CA is in a drought, but between the pressure and water saver in the shower head… it is a little ridiculous. I just end up taking a longer shower and defeats the purpose.

I reserve a room and they told that I will get a beach front view in my room but when I get there I only get a regular room. Besides that the room was great.

Showed up at 3:30 when check in was at 3 and there was no rooms available. Told to wait 10/15mins and took over an hour to have my reservation room ready. After finally getting keys to our room we were put on a renovated floor with constructions and workers everywhere. Keys we received wouldnt open the door and after 4 trips back to the front desk to get new keys finally I had it and asked for a different room because lady at the front desk wouldnt come up to check herself to help with keys. We got put in a room with a fork lift that sat out our window with construction everywhere. Didn't appricate not knowing the hotel was under construction being 7months pregnant and having the smell of paint fumes and construction everywhere. Unpleasant experience and horrible customer service.

I used to take my family there for a quick 3 day getaway. … beach is right there. Town is close by. … what's the problem? It is what it is…

The hotel was convenient because it was across the street from Doheny Beach where my family reunion was held. Although the staff were great and friendly I found this place to be a bit of false advertisement. The pictures on the site looked very different from the actual hotel. The pool was very small as well as their suites. Being the rooms were suites they could have been roomier and last but not least when I booked the room I was told there was a complimentary breakfast and after eating found out it was 15.99 a person if you didn't have a voucher. These prices need to be visual so guest are aware or staff should make guest aware before seating them. For these reasons I will never stay here again. Hard to get to as well due to the one way street!

This one is a miss. I'm a frequent loyal and hilton Diamond traveler. First, the front desk told me I was upgraded to a renovated ocean view room. It ended up being a campground view room that felt like a Motel 6. This hotel feels like Myrtle Beach — you may like it if you're into it). Breakfast was awful. I asked to be moved to a renovated room (like the web site pics) but they couldn't do it. Thanks for your Diamond treatment. We cancelled and switched hotel.

They are in the process of updating decor. Nice beach but u have to walk through a campground first. There are no shops or anything walking distance. If you want the beach town/boardwalk don't stay here. You'll be isolated.

My family stays at this friendly casual hotel when they occationally visit me. They bring two dogs, a bird and stay for 3nights. The service is accomodating and laid back. The food was always good but recently they have changed the menu and I can't speak for the hotel food. The rooms are comfortable, could use a little Touch up. The beach is a cross the street, you will have a great view, the service is good, and they accept pets. That unique and earns 4 stars.

Our family, 12 of us are staying here for our son's wedding in Newport Beach. We like it. Sure it's older, like staying at a place in Europe. And the beach is a few minute walk through a nice campground. Google gets you in and out of the place easily and anywhere else.

I can't believe it's a Doubletree — — part of the Hilton family no less. Walked up on four mad customers as we checked-in, yes four. Dogs are allowed inside the hotel roms and the place smells like wet dog. Bam, bam, bam — incredibly loud music from the night club on the 4th floor. Dog snot on the walls, who knows what is on the carpet — plenty of carpet stains; don't want to think about it. I called for Valet to bring my car, when the car didn't show, the Valet guy sent me in the garage with the key to get my own car. Spa is broken of course. I have traveled extensively and until today, I never bothered to write a review. An embarrassment to the Hilton chain.

What the hell happened to this place? It used to be one of my favorites, classy and private. Now it's no different than a cheap motel in a nasty ghetto nieghborhood. #Worthless/lazy/incompetent staff. Food. Up room. Customer appreciation. Positives: Nice shower with lots of hot water and good water pressure. Sorry Double Tree. You fail.

Entrance to Hotel is only from a one way street that is not entirely easy to find. Room was OK but the balcony I paid extra for had no leg room around patio furniture so unusable. No creamers left for coffee and one light was out in the bathroom. No info left on Wi-Fi. The bed was comfortable as advertised. Wi-Fi was $12.50 per day. Garage parking (no other options if you have a car) was $22.00 per night. We went up to the roof top bar for a happy hour drink. The view of the ocean across the street was nice but a glass of poor quality wine was $13.00. We checked out a day earlier as it was not a walking friendly town and even though we left close to 4pm they did not charge us for the second day.

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times, and am always at the lengths the staff go to to make your stay memorable. The hotel is steps from the beach, and close to dana point harbor, which are both very nice. If there is a downside, it is that the hotel backs up to commuter train tracks and a highway. Each guest room is actually two (hence the suites in the title), and from the room closest to the back, you can occasionally hear the highway. The rooms of the suite have a set of closing doors between them, so if it bothers you, the option is always there to close those. All in all, this hotel is wonderful. The parking is valet, or you can park yourself, and the staff is great. Don't forget to ask for the chocolate chip cookie. They are fantastic.
