This was an awesome stay! Great service! The owners are amazing! Quaint and peaceful. GREAT VIEWS! Clean and spacious rooms. Breakfast at the office area. 5 star review!

It would be nice once construction is done. No observation deck, no A/C and most importantly, issues w/ hot water mostly took a cold shower! Burrrr!

Wonderful for the whole family! Staff is friendly and original. The view is outstanding! We'll definitely be returning.

This place is a beautiful jewel near the sea! Detailed and clean, staff was kind. This BW is definitely above average and was not falsely advertised!

When we arrived the room was very stuffy so we turned on the ac. It cooled quickly but soon we noticed a leak dripping from the area by the vent above the sink/microwave. My husband has been an hvac tech for 18+ years so he looked and saw it was a leaky chill water valve that appears to have been leaking for quite some time. We called the front desk and a maintenance guy came by. He “assessed” the situation by spilling the catch trays they had placed up there previously ALL OVER the sink, coffee maker and microwave. He then said “someone is coming by next week” and put some extra trash cans under the leaky zones. He had made a mess with water, so he said he’d be back with towels. He did bring back towels but just left them for us to clean up all the water everywhere. He mentioned he’d tell the front desk to “give us a discount”. When we checked with front desk, they offered 20%. For a room that is now a mess with dirty water, a still leaking ac unit (they told us to turn it off… way too warm for that)? And she was not very nice about any of it: — (. It’s our only night if our “honeymoon” and it sucked. The other option she gave was to cancel our reservation and leave with a full refund. We took that option as we were afraid the ceiling most likely had mold and their incredible lack of caring. Had to leave right at dinner time, ruining our dinner plans and wasting an hour of our only night alone.

Tv didn’t work, kept slipping out of cable connection. Only had 5 channels for the first 1.5 days. No shower curtain. Toilet didn’t flush completely. It was obvious the housekeeper didn’t clean bathroom because toilet still didn’t work properly. In trying to resolve this manager kept telling customer care they had called me but the number I was told they used isn’t a number I’ve ever heard of. On week 2 now to get this resolved.
When someone finally did call me the resolution wasn’t acceptable as it would force me to stay at a best western again. When I asked for her name, she hung up on me.

Our room was in disrepair with a door that would not lock, ocean view window with a curtain that would not open, door frames falling off the framework, mold in the corner of the balcony door, broken hot tub, broken AC with a loud fan, etc.

Cheyenne at the front desk was really helpful to us and made sure I had a great time she got his Ocean View couldn't ask for anything more.

Very nice hotel. Quite area. Manager Alona is accommodating person. We enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was very delicious. Hot breakfast. Ocean very close to hotel and all front desk people were very friendly to us. Room was clean and new towels so soft.

I usually do not do "below standard" reviews, however I am on this one due to such disappointment experiences, especially for the price paid vs quality provided. Hotel's telephone & clock were not working, however we had cell phone to use in lieu of in room standard. However we did need outlets to charge our phones, none were working properly. All outlets were loosed including the one on night stand, we had to use water bottle and books to stabilize it to charge. The air conditioning was cranking so loud that we could not had a good night sleep. This hotel does not have pool or fitness room. Hot tub was not in service when we were there. Maybe that was good for us, otherwise it would not have been good when our room was literally by it.

The comfort of the room and bed were great. The staff all greeted us with a smile. The breakfast selection was good and fresh. The view from our balcony was enjoyable. The only downside was the traffic noise from the major highway 50 feet away was very loud and seemed to be amplified by the patio ceiling. The view is of the hwy with the ocean on the far side of the hwy, so you won't hear the crashing of the waves until the middle of the night after the traffic dies down. The room itself was very nice and was quiet if the door and window to the balcony were kept closed.

Totally enjoyed our stay. Great location, ocean view! Clean hotel, nice room, roomy, not claustrophobic, not small. Nice magnifying mirror with light in bathroom, if you care to use it. Great to apply makeup. Room has refrigerator, and microwave & sink. A very pleasant stay. We would Definitely stay there again. It is centrally located to great sites to see!

Air corn don’t work. Seems like you r getting one temperature setting even you change to lower number. Bed is so wear out. Staff that check us in was not helpful or friendly at all. We stayed at 6/11 to 6/13/18 and she work for day shift. There were not much guest in the place, I can tell by park cars and traffic at this hotel. When we were there earlier than Check in time she lied to us that rooms are not ready. And than she said early check in is extra $20. I never heard of early Check in fees other places that I used before: she said we can check in only 1/2 hour early with no additional charge. If this is a best weetern policy, we won’t book with them anymore. Very inconvenient. And also to upgrade the room to ocean front she charge us extra $50 a night, our total cost for room is more than their listed price. I think I felt that we were over charged.

Nice rooms and great view! I am giving 4 stars because the beds were not so comfy and one of the beds sunk in. Other than that I would recommend it to anyone.

We stayed several nights in a room with a king and a jacuzzi tub (highly recommend) on the third floor near the back. It was clean and quiet. Breakfast was good. Available parking. Close access to some restaurants and the beach. A close drive to San Clemente. Accommodated a late check out. The only downside was the poor lighting in the room made getting ready and hanging out inside not ideal. I would stay there again though.

Staff are awesome! Cheyenne is very friendly and helpful, as if you're talking to a friend. The Asst. Manager, I believe her name is Alona, is also friendly and professional. Will stay there again!

There is NOT a kitchen in all rooms. The hot tub is broken. The fan makes a rattling sound. The second door lock is broken. The ceiling has water damage. The door curtain to the ocean view is broken and stays down, covering the view. There are vertical, horizontal, & diagonal poles obstructing the view. The room needs repair — paint, stucco, grout, molding, etc. The staff is really nice, and the cleaning crew is really helpful. The train is not too loud. It’s quite a walk to get to the beach, even though it can be seen straight across the street. You must use proper access to cross the tracks.

Room and bed was good, the motel is close to the beach but there's a busy highway and train tracks between; if noise is a concern, better check elsewhere. Breakfast was OK, overall our stay was a decent experience. Maybe a little overpriced for what we got, but no major complaints.

This hotel is amazing. We stayed for a week and the staff was amazing. I will be going back next year and I will be staying at this hotel. Chris at the front desk, I would just like to mention was friendly and super helpful. He recommended the street fair and it was an amazing experience. I can't wait to go back.

The room was really nice and the view was great. The Wi-Fi was terrible and our fireplace didn't work. I called the front desk about the fireplace, the clerk said she would come take a look (not sure what she could do since we already tried every plug available) but I asked if they could fix it the next day while we were gone and no one did. We spent two nights without the accommodation I spent $9 extra each night for. I know it's not a lot but that was the only reason I chose this room over the others.

The receptionist person is very nice and that make us enjoy our staying at this place. Beautiful place at the beach. I can say it's an excellent weekend.

Extremely accommodating staff… nice to have a good breakfast on the premises. Of course it has a beautiful view of the ocean. Convenient to all of the attractions in the area. Can't wait to come back. Thank you Dan & Brian.

Beautiful view. Clean and tidy rooms. It's a couple dozen feed from the ocean water and I could see the stars from my window at night.

A decent spot, close to the beach. It is across from the tracks, and the bridge was closed so access was a bit of a walk. The rooms are comfy but not particularly "nice". They could use some updating. The hot tub was broken, so that was a bummer. Breakfast is typical continental… Not bad for the price, but definitely not your top pick.

Very nice hotel for the price. Clean rooms and nice decor. Beautiful view of the beach from the front rooms. Has seating outside that has a nice view of the beach also.

The perfect place to stay facing the ocean! Clean, large rooms, very comfortable beds, bar area with frig, m/w and coffee. Easy access to beach and walking/riding paths. Very quick travel into San Juan Cap, Dana Point and Laguna. Good beach-front value for the price.

Best Western Plus Dana Point Inn By The Sea Well, to be honest, we have stayed in Motel 6 with better amenities… garage was underground, with no security. Transients were roaming around the cars when we arrived. Ocean view was obstructed by high wires, there was no nearby beach access and car noise could be heard from inside the room all night. We booked the room for two nights, but left after 24 hours… we expect better from a Best Western Plus.

Best kept secret on the coast! Charming motel across the street from the ocean. Great breezes and views. The staff is friendly, courteous and accommodating. I highly recommend it, and be sure and walk next door to the family owned Italian restaurant!, Agostino’s!

This was my second stay at this hotel, and it was just as pleasant as I remember. The hotel is clean and well-maintained; the staff is friendly and efficient, there are lovely ocean views from many of the rooms, and the central garden space is a peaceful haven with beautiful fountains, lush plants, and soft, instrumental music that plays throughout the day. There is a nice selection of breakfast items available in the mornings — from waffles with assorted toppings for the decadent to cereal and bananas for health-conscious folks like me. Rooms are large and well-appointed, and the beds are absolutely the most comfortable hotel beds on which I have ever slept! The sundeck is a great place to sit and have a snack, read, journal, or just relax and watch the ocean.

Excellent location. A decent place to stay as a comparison to other hotels for the cost. Near a railroad but it's not a problem, not too noisy. We liked no parking fee or "resort fee".

This is a good place for families to come here if they want to look across the street looking at the ocean. The train goes by every half hour except in the evenings they stop running. They serve a continental breakfast every morning around 7:30. They used to be earlier than that but they keep making it later and later. Overall the place is good. They are a little pricey but you do get a nice view even if it is not the ocean view, it would be a garden view.

Location was great, within walking distance to the beach. I had prebooked a king room and when we arrived, they gave us one with the jacuzzi. The staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean, and hotel was quiet. Breakfast consisted of waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal, yogurt, and pastries. Overall a great stay.

Great location across the street from the Beach. You should know that you need to walk a block to a pedestrian bridge, and so someone who struggles with stairs would have trouble getting to the beach easily. There are other beaches in town as options. Super friendly staff, family owned, small pool and a great hot tub. Easy parking underneath. Very close to the beautiful San Juan Capistrano Mission, and the ferry to Catalina Island. A very pleasant and relaxing stay. The only reason this is not 5 stars is that the quality of the breakfast was just so so.

Very nice place to stay. Rooms are very comfortable and very quiet. Desk staff is very friendly and helpful. Will stay there again the next time I am in town.

Would not recommend this place! 8 year old daughter found opened box of condoms with used packages in the nightstand drawer! Management just made excuses for housekeeping and lied about it to the higher ups in Best Western… Night stand drawer remained untouched and unclean the remainder of our stay and we had an ant problem in our room…!

Great location for a motel and the customer service was the best I've ever received at a motel. Unfortunately the rooms smelling of mold and the ants here make the experience here hard to enjoy and be at peace. Will prolly not be coming back here.

It is by the sea indeed, provided you forget the fact that there is a four-lane highway and a train track, then a berm, a beach, and finally the sea. The view is basically of all these, the sea being a small blue ribbon far away. Also, beach access requires walking a few hundred yards to a bridge. Finally, the noise of the highway and of the train, for a room in the front, is considerable. The rooms are a bit tired, not particularly clean, and the bathroom very small.

The service was the best part. The manager was very nice and hospitable. Rooms were good, and for a Best Western it was fairly small with only 3 floors. It is right across from the beach.

Had a great experience with this hotel! Got here pretty late at night and they were still very helpful and understanding. Steven, from the front desk, knew we weren't familiar with the area and he gave us a map and filled up our whole day with activities, including drawing all the best roads and safety advice about the tides. Had a very pleasant experience! Yummy breakfast too.

Room I stayed in was large, comfortable, and spotless.

It is a 4 minute walk the beach. The room was nice. Staff was friendly. I would stay here again.

Very bad customer service. Steven at the front desk is rude, he doesn't know how to deal with customers. He ask my if I can pay him cash for the room and he will give me adiscount. He looks like a very fishy guy. Save yourself time and money snd don't go there!

The hotel was nice and clean but the guy at the front desk Stiven was thief when we asked him for baby crib he wanted $20 cash for it.

We put about 25 family members up here for a wedding and had a blast! Large rooms, great deck on level two with ocean views, jacuzzi, great customer service, yeah breakfast wasn't that great but if breakfast is your deal get up go buy breakfast at the marina! We will definitely stay there again.

I will never stay here again. Stayed here during a business trip. Room was ok. Woke in the morning looking forward to breakfast. Go to lobby. Eggs in a warmer not turned on sitting in a ut an inch of water. Gross. Sausages lukewarm gross. Go to the bread/ bagel cabinet they have open and fly flies out gross. Then the smell of molded bread hits me like a truck gross. At this point I just give up and pour a cup of oj and cook a waffle. Oj tastes sour. So all in all this olace needs to be shut down and someone needs to teach them about food safety.

The staff was EXTREMELY helpful and made me feel at home. Rooms were ship shape and well kept all day. You can walk to the beach in minutes and the balcony view is as well a bonus. Would recommend to any family or singular person.

My family and I stayed at this hotel for 10 days during the Christmas Holiday and had such a wonderful experience. The ocean views are gorgeous. Mr. Fernando and his family made sure we were taken cared of from the time of check in to the final check out and provided such great customer service. We will definitely stay there again.

I stayed here in November and it was great. Rooms are clean. Breakfast is more than enough and so convenient. Front desk, cheerful smile, "Kristin", started my day on a positive note! Above and beyond helpful staff. No hassle parking underground.
