When we arrived the room was very stuffy so we turned on the ac. It cooled quickly but soon we noticed a leak dripping from the area by the vent above the sink/microwave. My husband has been an hvac tech for 18+ years so he looked and saw it was a leaky chill water valve that appears to have been leaking for quite some time. We called the front desk and a maintenance guy came by. He “assessed” the situation by spilling the catch trays they had placed up there previously ALL OVER the sink, coffee maker and microwave. He then said “someone is coming by next week” and put some extra trash cans under the leaky zones. He had made a mess with water, so he said he’d be back with towels. He did bring back towels but just left them for us to clean up all the water everywhere. He mentioned he’d tell the front desk to “give us a discount”. When we checked with front desk, they offered 20%. For a room that is now a mess with dirty water, a still leaking ac unit (they told us to turn it off… way too warm for that)? And she was not very nice about any of it: — (. It’s our only night if our “honeymoon” and it sucked. The other option she gave was to cancel our reservation and leave with a full refund. We took that option as we were afraid the ceiling most likely had mold and their incredible lack of caring. Had to leave right at dinner time, ruining our dinner plans and wasting an hour of our only night alone.
PS — after being told there were no alternate rooms to move to, the maintenance man had told us he was staying in the room “next door” — another ocean view room — because “the dryer was broken and he was gonna be drying towels and linens all night”.
Perhaps they should be doing more preventative maintenance on a hotel that charges $300+ a night…
